EPISODE 21 BABY!!! So far 2021 hasn't gone as planned for many people. Thankfully, In Da Pocket episode 21 is all about making and executing your plans for this semester. While almost everything never goes according to plan, having a good schedule and balance is vital for success in college. One of the best and easiest ways to do this is to get a calendar or agenda and write down all your zoom class times and homework assignments. Making an agenda also helps with managing your time because it's very easy to lose track of time hanging with the bois, but it's vital you leave some time to study. This is also helped by surrounding yourself with likeminded people so you're not tempted by bad influences. Another key part in planning is making sure you get your textbooks at the right time, not too early so you don't waste money on any unnecessary books but not too late where you fail some assignments cause you don't have it yet. But the best way to stay scheming is to get plenty of sleep so you don't miss out on anything, especially those zoom classes. As always, we appreciate the love and support everyone has been showing to the podcast and we can't wait to continue to grow with your support. EPISODE 17 BABY!!! On this very special week, we are delivering a very special episode for everyone. To begin with, Kai has finally returned after disappearing for weeks but that's not the only important thing about this episode. As college students across the galaxy are either preparing for or taking their finals as we speak! In light of this, Kai and Ant discuss their experiences with taking finals and tips to improve your chances of passing. As many know, finals week is what determines if you will pass a class or have to run it back next semester, so we highly advise that you make sure you start studying a couple weeks before it. Some key tips to studying include making sure you take food breaks and that you change up your methods of studying to help break up the monotony. As important as studying is though, it's just as important that you make sure you bring all the materials required for the test as if you don't, you risk having your test invalidated. After all the testing is said and done, we have one more thing that we require you to do...CELEBRATE! Win, lose, or draw, it's over and it's vital that you take some time to relax and enjoy before the next semester rolls around. EPISODE 14 BABY!!!! Welcome back, to start off we'd like to apologize for the late release of this episode but unfortunately due to tropical storms we had to push this episode off by a day. Regardless of the delay Kai and Ant are discussing the important topic of ways to make money in college outside of a regular job. To start off, Ant talks about a very timely opportunity to make some easy money by just waiting in line for someone to get a PS4. Currently one of Ant's friends is doing that and making some very good money so we highly suggest you try to find an opportunity to do this. From there the guys go into the ever present opportunity to help your fellow students with their work, this is something Kai has done quite often as he has somehow convinced everyone that he is very smart. But if you don't want to stress about more work than you can passively make money from an app called Shopkick that Ant used to use a lot in high school. One of the most popular to make some money is by Uber. If you are half decent at driving then we highly recommend you do this, especially if you are on a college campus. If you can't drive though, then website testing might be for you. You can do this for as long or as little as you like and make at around a dollar a minute. The final way that is very well known but still very profitable is babysitting. You can make a big bank from this, just make sure you give the kid back in the same condition you got it. EPISODE 13 BABY!!!!! On this week's episode Ant and Kai are joined by a special guest, the one and only Joel! Both Ant and Kai know Joel from way back in the high school days but are catching up on everything that has been going on in Joel's life during college. The focus of this episode is focused on everything about having a job while also being a full time student. Since neither Ant or Kai have a job, Joel talks about all the extra challenges and rewards that having a job entails. Joel went into college with his job and it is not close to his college, which means that whenever he has to drive to campus then going to work afterwards takes quite a commute. Joel also talks about what a student should do to figure out if getting a job while in school is right for them as it is not for everyone. EPISODE 12 BABY!!! On this week's episode, we have another special guest joining the pod. The one and only Jessie. The topic of this episode focuses on the pros and cons of taking one or more gap years between high school and college. Since neither Ant or Kai have taken a gap year, Jessie shares her experience of taking three gap years. While there is a lot of negative stigma about taking a gap year, if planned out correctly it can enhance your time in college. One of the best benefits from taking a gap year(s) is that it gives you time to find out what career you want to pursue without wasting time and money in college. However, as Jessie points out not everything about the transition from the time off from school and going to college is smooth. To make matters worse, during only her third semester, the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, making college life even more difficult. Despite all of that, there is plenty of helpful advice for anyone thinking about taking a gap year mixed in with plenty of laughs. EPISODE 11 BABY!!!! After a one week hiatus, the guys are coming back with a banger episode. On this week's episode we are excited to bring in a special guest that has been mentioned several times throughout our episodes. It's the one and only...Johnny! Of course the episode with Johnny is about everything party related. To start this party off Joey talks about his transition from high school to college and the ridiculous amount of partying he did in the very first week of school. Johnny also gets into his roommates and how it was dorming with them, especially how loud Ant was at all hours of the day. On top of this, Johnny also advises that incoming freshmen should try to dorm with someone they know so that they have at least one friend. Ant also reminisces on some of the dorm parties that Johnny used to throw and how being cool with the RA can keep you out of trouble. Johnny also gives his top tips for partying, including who you should play on the aux if you don't have anything ready. EPISODE 10 BABY!!!!! We've finally hit double digit episodes! In this special episode Antthony and Kai talk about the ins and outs of classes in college. To kick this special episode off, Kai talks about something that is both very dear to his heart yet very distracting from his class. This is a common problem with many students as it's easy to get distracted in class and waste all of their time. Another way the guys talk about maximizing your class experience is attempting to figure out who the smart students are and associating yourself with them. Ant also goes off on people who try to take notes on their computer for subjects like math and physics when a pencil and paper is far better. EPISODE 9 BABY!!!!!!!! On this week's episode the guys talk about everything COVID 19 related. The guys start off by giving some background as to what they were doing right before COVID hit the US. This accrued during spring break which affected what they brought home with them. As previously mentioned, pack extra clothes just in case but just like before, Ant didn't do this and paid the price. On top of the students being unprepared, the colleges were also not ready at all. Talking about this brings Kai down memory lane to some “fond” memories of a teacher who disappeared for 2 months then suddenly came back with an unexpected seven page essay for Kai. After an animated rant from Kai, the guys talk about how they dealt with everything being closed down and all their classes being completely online. While Kai was struggling with his teachers, Ant was getting finessed out of his dorm by UCF despite doing everything that they told him to do in order to keep it. Despite all this though both Ant and Kai cancelled their housing and returned home to find their rooms had been converted to storage units by their parents. We hope you enjoyed listening to the guys' experiences during the times of COVID, but we would like to extend a chance for YOU to share your stories. EPISODE 8 BABY!!!! Welcome back to the one and only In Da Pocket podcast with our hosts Ant and Kai. This week the topic of discussion is moving into college dorms. To kick this episode off, we start with a bit of drama that Kai had to go through when he was preparing to move into the new dorm. A couple months before move in day, Kendrick reached out to Kai for the first time but not to introduce himself, but instead to ask Kai to LEAVE the dorm before he even got there. After a couple months of uncertainty Kai eventually moved into the dorm without any problems. Anthony faced problems of his own though as he came to his dorm ill prepared for how much clothes he would need for college life. Bringing the appropriate amount of personal belongings is key, make sure to take the essentials like the PS4 and school supplies. If possible, visit your dorm room or view it online so you have an idea of what to bring. The guys also highlight some of the events that the school puts on during move in week and encourage you to participate in anything you can. As always, we appreciate the love and support everyone has been showing to the podcast and we can't wait to continue to grow with your support. EPISODE 7 BABY!!!!! Kai and Ant are back again and for this episode are talking about non-social distancing. That's right, this episode is all about social life, both in person and digital. When it comes to in person socializing, the guys talk about both sports clubs and partying. Everything from old wrestling rivals to lame people always on their phones in the club (which Ant never brings up). When it comes to online socializing though, gaming with the boi's is a MUST. Even though you're technically supposed to study for your classes before they start (no, studying while you walk to class doesn't count), it's imperative that you make time to squad up with your friends online. However, not all socializing online is positive as Kai quickly learned. Being paired up with a group of girls for one of his online classes, Kai was quickly turned into an outsider even though they relied heavily on his work contributions. EPISODE 6 BABY!!! For the VERY first time on In Da Pocket we have a guest! Our first guest is no other than Melody from The Study Break Podcast. To kick the episode off Kai and Ant go into their experiences of both applying to and choosing a college. Kai tells how the only college he visited was FAU and how his one visit there was enough to convince him to only apply to them. Anthony on the other hand visited several colleges and was even sought out by some for his wrestling skills. His downturn though came from how late he waited to apply, leading him to miss out on several acceptances including one from his “dream” school. Despite not applying to any colleges yet as she is still a junior in high school, Melody details the extensive and debatably excessive application process for a study abroad program. Moving on from the different application processes, the discussion turns towards the current state of remote learning and the numerous pros and cons that come with it. We'd like to thank Melody of the Study Break Podcast for coming on our show and if you enjoyed this then we encourage you to check out her podcast where we actually were guests for episode #24. As always, we appreciate the love and support everyone has been showing to the podcast and we can't wait to continue to grow with your support. We hope you can use these tips given to you so you can go ahead and ace your college applications or any applications you may have in the future. EPISODE 5 BABY!!!! It's back to college for most students and in that spirit Ant and Kai discuss everything class related. It's only appropriate then that the guys start off by debating if students should even try to have 8:00 am classes. This also leads into the discussion as to which is worse, 8:00 am classes or 6:00 pm classes. Of course the negatives about such an early or late class is the effect it has on attendance. Another key part about classes is how you get to them. Ant and Kai discuss why it's actually better to not have a car on campus and both of their preferred methods of travel on campus. Both Kai and Ant had early and late classes and they give their stories on how they handled the tough schedule while also talking about how sometimes they attempted to finesse the system. After reminiscing on a foolish attempt by Kai to fake his attendance, the guys give advice on how to actually find your class on campus. Ant is a strong advocate for the FindMyClass app while Kai suggests a more “adventurous” method of finding your class. To top it all off of course the guys talk about their strategies or lack there off of researching their teachers. Ant always does his research via the rate my professor website while Kai tends to pick his teachers randomly. This comes back to haunt him though leading Kai to seek revenge on one of his worst teachers ever. EPISODE 4 BABY!!! After a long and difficult week hiatus, the guys are back and more athletic than ever. This episode is all about sports and legendary lockdown defense. To set the mood, Kai gets into his dabblings into the combat sports of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at FAU. Within a few short months Kai experiences everything from boring wrestlers who only hold you down to experienced grapplers trying to choke him unconscious. Afterwards, Ant brings up his short lived tenure at the prestigious UCF wrestling club where he faced opponents as large as 300 lbs and nearly broke several bones in his body. The guys' sports activities are not limited to clubs however, both Kai and Ant showcased their skills at separate BBQ's. At Kai's BBQ, there was an intense football game which involved plenty of lockdown defense and a little bloodshed. Similarly, Ant witnessed a harsh collision during a “friendly” game of frisbee at a BBQ at UCF. Despite these violent outings, both Kai and Ant continue to participate in different sporting activities, the most common one being basketball. The guys get into their numerous games with and against random college students who they embarrassed with their combination of legendary lockdown defense and dribble moves worthy of 2K. As if this wasn't enough, Kai and Ant give a preview of one of the best and grueling games they've ever been a part of, a 1v1 against each other. EPISODE 3 BABY!!!! Part 2 of the double release and Ant and Kai share their wealth of knowledge on college budgeting or lack thereof. Both Kai and Ant share their traumatic experiences taking busbud, having to cope with everything from douchebags who recline their chairs, no working chargers, and drivers who are always late. Keeping the spirit of saving money, the guys talk about paying for an overpriced and pointless Uber drive which took as long as the walk back. The guys also comment on how if you're on a budget you should either search out some Walmart discounts or make your own clothing like Ant, instead of going all out getting designer everything like Kendrick. Ant also shares his deep passion for Dollar Tree and all the great foods they have for dirt cheap. Kai on the other hand has a very different experience with ‘deals'. Being in Boca limits the amount of savings available to Kai so he is left to scourge for savings in the Nordstrom rack where the cheapest item is $25. Even with some discounted drip, the guys still get free entry into popping clubs in the heart of Orlando with a combination of their style and connections. That's not the only free thing that the guys are masters at getting, they also share some secrets to getting free books and free food on campus. EPISODE 2 BABY!!!! Welcome to the second episode of the In Da Pocket podcast. This week we are not dropping just one, but TWO episodes this thursday. In this episode Anthony and Kai take a deep dive into everything you need to know about sporting events in college. Undoubtedly one of the most important parts of a sports game experience is the tailgate. With Ant not knowing what a tailgate was and Kai wearing the worst shirt, the guys are certified experts of tailgating life. Ant starts going into the importance of knowing your school's chants before he is rudely interrupted by an uncalled for rant from Kai boldly stating that if you don't know your schools chants, you might as well drop out. Of course, you can't talk about college sports without giving first hand experience of an actual game, and to do this Ant and Kai talk about their experience at the FAU vs. UCF football game. With months of trash talk leading into it there was high anticipation for a game that wasn't as close as Kai seems to think it was, but offered the guys a chance to talk to and attempt to fund the GOAT UCF player. Another important topic the guys get into is the proper apparel for gametime. They talk about choosing to wear comfort over style and how dollar tree ponchos are slept on. The last thing they discuss is the importance of making sure you know the right entrance to your arena to make sure you don't get stranded outside for hours like Kai. We hope you guys enjoy the double feature this week and make sure to subscribe and rate us on whatever platform you listen on. EPISODE 1 BABY!!!!! Welcome to the debut of the In Da Pocket podcast! The stars of the show are Kai and Anthony, two college students from different universities that love to hear their own voices a little too much. Kai and Anthony kick the podcast off by talking about why it's IMPERATIVE to fill out a roommate pairing form. While Kai lucked out with his roommate saying things like “Me and my roommate got along really well”, Anthony experienced roommates with a variety of personalities saying “Johnny you're on another planet than we are!”. Everything from 2:00 am parties to a closet full of garbage, Anthony has lived through it all. The guys also get into the time Kai journeyed all the way up to UCF, only to be left behind and forsaken by Anthony the next day in an attempt at revenge against one of his roommates. Kai begins discussing how absurd it is that Anthony let his friend Tyreek stay over his dorm all while leaving Kai behind in a place of abandonment at some place he's never been. While both Kai and Anthony had very different roommate experiences, in the end they are both appreciative and thankful for the people they dormed with. Don't forget to stay tuned for next week as we will be releasing not only one but TWO podcasts next thursday. Don't forget to submit your fan questions by way of email or Instagram so they can be answered in upcoming episodes.
