Mijk van Dijk is a DJ, Producer and Remixer from Berlin, Germany. Check out his DJ sets ranging from Techno to Oldschool and even Japanese City Pop.
This is the recording of my Live-Performance at Liquid Room in Tokyo-Shinjuku from April 19th 2003 to celebrate the birthday of Tetsuwan Atom, also known as Astroboy. The legendary manga character by Osamu Tezuka was officially born on April 7th 2003. I appeared by special invitation of Tezuka-san's daughter Rumiko Tezuka. If I remember well, my live set consisted of the following machines: Yamaha RS7000, Yamaha SU200, Access Virus, Korg Kaossilator, Boss VT-1 With this equipment I recreated all the sounds of my songs and added additional sequences and live jams. So these special live versions sound very different from the original recordings, making this concert a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The other artists of the night with great DJ sets were Ken Ishii, Toby Izui, Ree-k & Co-Fusion DJ-Tag Team. Much love to the amazing crowd at Liquid Room on a very special night that I will always remember.

Producer since 1990 - Live Act since 1990 - DJ since 1992 from Berlin/ Germany As bold as ever, House and Techno music has always been at the centre of Mijk van Dijk's musical universe, the place he calls his ‘microglobe'. Not satisfied with only mixing moving beats and emotive sounds, Mijk is dedicated to spreading a message through song titles, samples and his own lyrics. The idea of a microglobe: sharing ideas and music with people across an ever more connected planet and the facets of electronic music just being audible continents in a world of music continues to shape his artistic imagination. Throughout a career that now spans 28 years in electronic music alone, Mijk has produced with and for a diverse number of artists, including DJ Hell, Claude Young, Takkyu Ishino, Thomas Schuhmacher, DJ Rok, Toby Izui, Tanith, Cosmic Baby, Namito, Rummy Sharma, Rob Acid, Tom Wax and Martin Eyerer. He has also remixed Moby, Denki Groove, 2raumwohnung, GTO, Frankie Bones, Humate and Emmanuel Top, to name but a few. One of his most acclaimed productions to date – the Marmion tune Schöneberg – was conceived in collaboration with Marcos López and is considered as one of the eternal classics in House and Techno. Mijk has toured worldwide and developed an especially strong bond with fans in Japan, where he released on major and independent labels, such as Sony Music and Frogman Records. Being a practiced musician Mijk van Dijk has played live to audiences of tens of thousands, as well as jamming with music artists of different disciplines and genres. His DJ sets may often include live elements such as drum machines and effects, making each a fresh and exclusive experience. Microglobe is now home to all the different shades of Mijk's musical style. It began as a project name under which he released his first album Afreuropamericasiaustralica and now represents his new label microglobe musik produktion which merges all the influences of Mijk's music in one distinctive musical message. The first offering is the EP “Peace 4 All”, released on September 14th 2018. Other recent releases include his remixes for German electronic pop duo 2raumwohnung, T-Raum (Vienna), Henning Richter (Berlin), Sub Human Bros (Japan) and the latest “Schöneberg” remixes by Tim Engelhardt, 2raumwohnung and Der Dritte Raum. Mijk van Dijk was already called Multi-Mijk by Germany's leading Techno mag Frontpage in the early 90s. This is truer today than ever before.

Mijk van Dijk played a 5 hour DJ set of Techno, House and more at 260 Grad Bar Berlin on October 24th 2020, streaming to YouTube, Twitch, Mixcloud Live, Persicope and Facebook. Some streams were stopped, some where not. Here's the recordings on Mixcloud Live. Enjoy!
This year I celebrated my #birthday with a #live #dj #stream on #youtube #facebooklive #twitch and #mixcloudlive #party with U wherever U R. Here's the audio version on Mixcloud. And remember:“When the space between us is filled with music, we are not distanced but together!”
This is the pure audio of my 2-hour DJ-Set for Sophisticated Rhythms by Kai Barton on evosonic Radio 04.09.2020. The whole set is under the main theme of "Transition", coz we live is transition times right now. Now make YOUR transition!!!
When BluFin boss Andrea Engels asked me to mix a DJ-Set for the 15th anniversary of BluFin Records on ecosonic radio last weekend I was more than delighted. I've been releasing some of my most important records on this label from Cologne/ Germany since 2006: my definite piano track (Ebony), my very own Christmas EP (Xmas Carols) and two cooperations with my friend Rummy Sharma from India, resulting in the 200th label release with our “Mankind United EP”. And man, we need some kind of unity in 2020, don't we? To shine a spotlight on the good work of BluFin records, I did a mix with some of my favourite BluFin tunes, that I actually still play, also introducing my latest collaboration with Henning Richter, very soon out on BluFin. Please enjoy!
Everybody's streaming and so do I, every once in a while. My booking agency Classic DJ asked me to contribute to their Wonderful Rave program and so I played this vinyl DJ set straight from my living room, with only Mijk tracks from the past. With a few surprises, rarities, remixes I did, remixes I've received and of course some of the usual suspects, all glued together with two turntables and a mixer. Not just an ordinary mixer though, but the spankin' new glorious Pioneer DJM-V10, that I reviewed already for Bonedo. Here's my set for you to rewind. Enjoy! If you prefer video, here's YouTube 4 U: https://youtu.be/fsDriauaDBU Please refer here for the PLAYLIST https://microglobe.de/mijk-plays-mijk-for-wonderful-rave/

In case you've missed my show on www.report2dancefloor.com last Saturday, here's your rewind. I'm playing lots of new tracks, some with a nod to the old school bias of our hosts from report2dancefloor and some from very different genres. And I'm really glad to finally reveal tracks from my next EP on microglobe, entitled "Thinking 4 U": #stayhome #staysave #flattenthecurve

On March 14th 2020 I was supposed to play together with Gerzee in Heidelberg, invited by Kay Barton, for whom I had produced a remix one year ago. Unfortunately the rightful measures against the corona virus pandemic made it necessary to cancel the party. Gladly we gathered in a small group at Kay's loft and played DJ sets to a few friends, which turned out a super-nice house party. I hope my set eases your mind in these trouble-some times. Please stay home if you can, be safe and help to slow down the disease!

On January 11th 2020 I played a very special set at Disco Bizarre at KitKat Club Berlin: almost 3 hours of disco infused Boogie, Funk, Wave and Electronica. Definitely a set like I never played it before, lots of music from my very early music-lovin' days, music so exiting, that it made me want to create my own. Thanks to DJ himSelf and DJ Billy Idle for having me and recording this.

It's been way too long since I uploaded my first Japan City Pop DJ-Mix, which became an overnight success and with 11.600+ listeners to date my most popular mix on Mixcloud by far. It's really amazing, how many people seem to share my passion for City Pop (シティーポップShitī Poppu), the sound, that emerged from booming urban Japan in the late 70s and early 80 and I want to take once again the opportunity for a very warm-hearted “domo arigato gozai-mashita” (-_-) for all the love and support you have been giving that mix. This time I start in 1977 with "Summer Connection" of Taeko Ohnuki's wonderful album “Sun Shower”, play many sun-kissed vibes by Tatsuro Yamashita, Toshiki Kadomatsu and more to end the mix with a song called “Sun Shower”, produced in 1989 by Japan's Proto-House pioneer Soichi Terada, whom I had the pleasure to meet one year ago at the Kaga Music Festival. Mixed last night before the hottest day in German history (40°C max) this truly deserves the name “Sunshower Mix”.

And now for something completely different: Attention: this DJ-Mix contains no Techno or House music. Just Krautrock from 1970 to 2019, from Germany, England, Japan…. But why? This music had a huge influence on my musical upbringing. Before German New Wave (NDW) there was German music that was totally unique. I tried to play Michael Rother's shining guitar melodies on my acoustic guitar, clapped on my knees to the stoic beats of Jaki Liebezeit and wished I had a synthesizer. On June 13th 2019 I took the opportunity to play only Krautrock during a Liquid Sky Berlin event that I hosted with my friend 10cars at Maze Club in Kreuzberg. I played all those upbeat German Krautrock tracks from the 70s and added some new Kraut by bands like Camera, Minami Deutsch / 南ドイツ, Verstärker, Stereolab and so on. I guess many of you might discover something new! Hope you enjoy the experience!

In 1990 'Mijk van Dijk' was one of the first artists to emerge from the early Berlin Techno scene. In 1992 Mijk mixed Techno beats with emotive sounds and together with Cosmic Baby coined the term „Trance“ with the compilation Tranceformed From Beyond, the first of it's kind. In 1993 together with Marcos Lopez he wrote the Marmion classic Schöneberg. Throughout the 90s and 00s Mijk has been working with artists as diverse as DJ Hell, Claude Young, Takkyu Ishino, Thomas Schuhmacher, DJ Rok, Toby Izui, Tanith, Namito, Rob Acid, Tom Wax, Martin Eyerer and remixed Moby, Denki Groove, GTO, Frankie Bones, Humate and Emmanuel Top, to name but a few. He has been touring worldwide and developed an especially strong bond with his fans in Japan, where he released on big and small labels like Sony Music or Frogman Records. Microglobe is now Mijk's home for all the different shades of his musical style.
