Almere lijkt hotter dan hot. Met de verkoop van zijn bedrijf wordt Dave Aaldering in 2024 in één klap financieel onafhankelijk. Maar hoe kwam die deal tot stand? In en rondom Arnhem kennen ze zijn naam: Dave Aaldering, de oprichter van internetserviceprovider Breedband. Hij begon als tiener met het repareren van computers voor mensen in de buurt. Dat bedrijfje zou later uitgroeien tot een lokale marktleider met zo'n 25 medewerkers en 5 miljoen euro omzet. Verkoopplannen heeft hij aanvankelijk niet. Maar dat verandert in 2019, wanneer twee geïnteresseerde partijen aankloppen en Aaldering zich realiseert dat de telecomwereld snel consolideert. Investeren in infrastructuur vraagt immers diepe zakken en dus besluit hij de markt te verkennen. Hij debuteerde in 2025 bij Uitgeverij Pluim met zijn journalistieke memoir ‘U heeft helaas niets gewonnen. De gokindustrie en mijn verslaving ontrafeld' dat werd genomineerd voor de Prinsjesboekenprijs. Hij schreef al stukken voor enola.be, NRC en Trouw. Tijdens Nieuw Geluid Live sprak hij over zijn zoektocht naar verbinding en voldoening in zijn relaties met anderen.

Albert Brouwer en Jelle Bakker spreken elkaar misschien wel voor de laatste keer in 2025. Ze hebben veel te bespreken. Over een plaatsgenoot die ondanks een flinke val in Frankrijk de moed erin houdt. Over een enorme berg stenen die in de haven gekieperd wordt en over de decembermaand die op Urk bekend is komen te staan als culinaire marathon. Rabobank en de ontwikkelingsbank FMO willen bijdragen aan de duurzame ontwikkeling van Paraguay. Dat leidde onder andere tot een belang van 29% in de grootste bank van het land. Die Paraguayaanse bank blijkt nu een grootgrondbezitter te financieren die herhaaldelijk in verband is gebracht met illegale ontbossing. Onderzoeksjournalist Noah Moeys dook in alles wat er te vinden was over deze sojaboer en vertelt hoe de twee Nederlandse banken reageren op deze kwestie. TNO onderzoekt – in opdracht van het ministerie van Economische Zaken – de mogelijke vestiging van een kennisinstituut voor de chipindustrie in Almere. De verwachting is dat het centrum €450 mln gaat kosten en dat het gebouwd zal gaan worden naast het oude Floriade-terrein. Diverse politieke partijen beloofden de afgelopen verkiezingen een verhoging van het minimumloon. Of die straks ook in het regeerakkoord gaat komen, weten we nog niet. Wel is zeker dat de kosten hiervoor nu gigantisch zouden zijn, doordat het minimumloon nog altijd is gekoppeld aan de AOW. Een hoger minimumloon betekent dus al gauw miljarden aan belastinggeld naar onze ouderen, die dat niet allemaal even hard nodig hebben.
