Welcome to Oblivious Presents! Here you will find us taking a deep dive into some of our favorite topics. The discussions can range from a complete tear down of a particular movie franchise or a guide to that game we can’t put down. Come along, as we talk for way too long about a thing that no one else noticed!
We’re back! After a long summer, the Oblivious crew finally sits down to continue their journey through the Skywalker Saga. On today’s show, Rogue One! Much has been said about the fist ever theatrical star wars “side quest.” It wouldn’t work. There was no way to live up to the hype. And with feelings mixed in regards to the sequel series, some didn’t even care. Well, after a disappearing trailer, some planned reshoots, and a story treatment from an unlikely source, a stardust is born. This is a big one. The panel’s energy is high and there is much to discuss. Is it the best the series has to offer? How many holes can we poke in its story? Will there ever be a better retcon in entertainment history? Sit back and relax, as we take you through another tale from that galaxy far far away.
Our Final Fantasy journey has entered it’s closing stages. But fear not, today’s episode is packed with some of the franchises most recognizable games! We have fan favorite FFX finally being put to the test. Early estimates had it as a top contender for best place to start -- see how it shakes out. FFXII was completely forgotten by most of the panel, but in a post Destiny world, its MMO mechanics piqued the panel's interest. Is FFXIII really the shit show we all remember? The outlook is very bleak on this one. And finally wrapping up the show, we find out how the boy band road trip that none of us wanted turned out to hold some serious heart. Sit back, grab your favorite FF mixtape, and let us take you through some of the best moments of modern Final Fantasy.
We're back with what we've all been waiting for -- Final Fantasies 7-9! Some say this run of games contains the best the series has to offer. How does that hold up today? We've dubbed this section the PS1 era and there's a lot to cover in this episode. Finale Fantasy 7 stands at the top of the world renowned series as it has stolen the general public’s hearts and wallets and remains the highest selling to date. Does all this love have any merit!? Surely there was nothing that Final Fantasy 8 could have done to remove itself from the shadow of it's predecessor. Even with it's mixed reception, did Square improve their winning formula? And finally, the series takes a great step to return to it's roots with Final Fantasy 9. Were long time fans and newcomers rewarded by their gamble? Cloud, Sephiroth, Squall, Zidane, buster sword, gunblade, oh my! Will you all come with me?
The dream is real -- for the most part. After 23 years, three console generations, one tech demo and two development teams, we finally have the Final Fantasy VII Remake...Part 1. Square’s original, monumental achievement in video gaming and pop culture was always yearning for a modern makeover, but could it ever live up to fans’ lofty expectations? The original Final Fantasy VII holds many top honors in the long running franchise’s history: top selling in the series, multiple game of the year awards, and propelling the Playstation brand as a real competitor to Nintendo. It also happened to be many people’s first and most beloved Japanese role-playing game. Safe to say, the stakes are very high for it’s return. The Oblivious crew has spent ample time in Midgar, and are ready to share their thoughts. From the battle mechanics, mini games, side quests, the story, the ending, and even that hand rubbing scene, they’ve got it all covered. Is Final Fantasy VII Remake the real deal? Find out.. Right Now!
