1994 war ein ganz besonderes Jahr für Videospieler und Affen-Aficionados. Denn mit „Donkey Kong Country“ schickte Nintendo ein längst in Vergessenheit geratenes Gaming-Icon zurück in den Ring, um der Konkurrenz eindrucksvoll zu beweisen, dass "Next-Gen" auch in 16 Bit möglich war. Und das überaus erfolgreich - denn der Gorilla aus Kyoto setzte technische Maßstäbe und machte über 9 Millionen Gamer sehr glücklich. Und da das Spiel im November seinen 30. Geburtstag gefeiert hat, wollen wir es uns nicht nehmen lassen, einmal im Detail zu resümieren, warum "Donkey Kong Country" so überaus erfolgreich war, ob die Dschungel-Hatz heute noch Bock macht und wie es um das Vermächtnis der Reihe in den Geschichtsbüchern der Videospiel-History steht.

Update of the week: Andy brings up Call of Duty Black Ops, the franchise history, and the anticipation to their most recent release. Andy and the guys talk about the final presidential push prior to the official announcement of the winner and president elect. Daniel talks about playing the Metro series games and how he enjoyed Metro 2033 despite a notorious bug/glitch in the game that can render the game unbeatable for some players who encounter this. Daniel gives us the rundown on the Zodiac documentary which goes in depth of the killings, the suspects, and controversy surrounding the Zodiac Killer.   Noel fills us in on watching the Avatar live action adaptation of the Nickelodeon cartoon Avatar The Last Air Bender. Noel finished the Metroid Game Boy Advance games and really enjoyed the experience after growing up playing Super Metroid on the Super Nintendo. Hallo liebe Gaming Freunde des guten Geschmacks. Heute wird es bombig, denn wir haben “Bomberman-Olli” zu Gast. Diese Folge ist eine bunte Mischung aus: Warum wir Bomberman lieben, welche Regale die besten für Sammler sind, wie sich Olli als Sprayer austobt uvm.  Die *Bomberman*-Spielereihe ist ein Klassiker der Videospielwelt und hat sich seit ihrem Debüt 1983 auf fast allen erdenklichen Konsolen verewigt. Mit ihrer simplen, aber genialen Grundidee – bomben, was das Zeug hält – hat sie nicht nur jede Menge Zocker begeistert, sondern auch unzählige Freundschaften auf die Probe gestellt. Denn wer einmal von einem Bombenfreund sprichwörtlich „weggebombt“ wurde, der vergisst das so schnell nicht. Das Spielprinzip von *Bomberman* ist so einfach wie genial: Man steuert den namensgebenden Bomberman durch labyrintartige Level und platziert Bomben, um Gegner und Hindernisse aus dem Weg zu sprengen. Klingt simpel? Ist es auch – aber das macht den Reiz des Spiels aus. Der wahre Spaß entfaltet sich im Multiplayer-Modus, in dem man gegen seine Freunde antritt und dabei versucht, sie mit taktisch klug platzierten Bomben in die Falle zu locken. Hier gilt das Motto: Besser Freund als Feind – aber auf dem Spielfeld ist jeder sich selbst der Nächste. In manchen Versionen konnte Bomberman sogar auf Tieren reiten, die ihm verschiedene Fähigkeiten gaben. Ein echter Klassiker ist *Super Bomberman 2* für das Super Nintendo, in dem man auf Dino-artigen Wesen durch die Level flitzt und Gegnern das Leben schwer macht. Da stellte sich dann die Frage: Bomben? Check! Dino-Reittiere? Check! Was braucht man noch mehr?
