Villain in Star Wars
Today we explore if Palpatine really knew how to save Padme's life or was it just a lie to coerce Anakin. As Palpatine creates a deeper bond with Anakin, he feeds on Anakin's raw emotions from losing his mother which are now entangled with the fear of losing Padme. Palpatine coerces Anakin with the pledge of cheating death. Was this true or just another deception by Palpatine? Listen as we explore what Palpatine could really do. Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. Jeff and Todd turn to the dark side to study the Force in all its aspects. Who are Plagueis and Palpatine? What are the sources of their power? The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. We look at the Sith's use of biotechnology throughout the saga to extend the reach of their power.
And so it ends. Well, so we thought. But for a while, anyway, the "Star Wars" films ended here, an ungodly mix of overlong action AND overlong scenes of people just TALKING. It's the worst of all worlds as Lucas tries to cram together epic laser fights, what he thinks romance is, and endless, perplexing politics. Good riddance to bad rubbish, the prequels. It's been awful. Also this week: Palpatine might have a point, Quippy-Wan, and a little ditty to see you out.
THEORY THURSDAY - Today we dive deeper into the infamous opera scene when Palpatine reveals the story of Darth Plagueis to Anakin. Listen as we uncover more details about Anakin's reaction to Plagueis cheating death and what Anakin actually did next as he pondered this incredible news. We will highlight this intense scene from The Revenge of the Sith novelization by Matthew Stover and I will narrate, bringing this passage to life. The deep nuances that we find out from Anakin give us an eye into Anakin's thoughts as he begins to move closer towards the Dark Side. Let's revisit the opera and discover Anakin's intense reaction to Palpatine's intriguing news. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
On the 93rd episode of the WhoDatJedi podcast, your hosts -- Aaron Svoboda (@Aaron_Svoboda), Alfredo Narvaez (@NOLA_Fredo) and David Gladow (@davegladow) -- revisit their topic from a couple of weeks ago ... how the other movies in the saga actually enhance the original Star Wars trilogy, this time looking at the sequels (Episodes VII-IX). There's a certain reverence the filmmakers paid the OT during the sequels, and that permeates those movies ... and in certain cases it elevates some of the original material. Beyond that, the character of Palpatine is now even bigger (and badder) a figure than he was before and we now have more of a complete (and honest) picture of our original heroes. If you're down on the sequels maybe this conversation will give you a more positive perspective on things! Join us as we journey into Week Three of our Spooktastic Halloween Adventure, with a movie so shitty, even the director couldn't help but make fun of it. This week we suffer through 2003's video game inspired abomination, "House of the Dead." The overall gist of the situation: 20-somethings head to the mysterious island based rave of the year only to be forced into survival mode when they realize Isla de la Muerte isn't just a catchy name. If awful movies based on awesome arcade games from your youth are your thing, than boy, do we have the episode for you. There's an early evening rave brought to you by SEGA, Prodigy "lite," Spaniards from Spain, being immortal to live forever, a bevy of really bad boobs, a classic case of the bubbles shouldn't be coming from down there, the hazardous turn table technique, Palpatine and Clint Howard's third appearance on the podcast! We learn in Haiti, you never turn a person into a zombie, The Doctor really hates the show "24," Snowy gets controversial, probably piss off Wyclef, take the stance that it's a bad idea to fist fight a hoard of zombies and we take a time out for Vodka Bombs. There's church houses, accidental boob grazes, a black and white tale from the high seas, restaurant lingo, talk of the grapefruit technique and if we could turn back time, we would change a rating entirely! All this and so much more on this week's Reel Fun Times!

On this episode, we discuss the first four stages in Dr. Gregory Stanton's “Ten Stages of Genocide”, which was first published in 1996 and enhanced in 2012. We compare the events in human history that have led to genocide, as well as discussing where we are in our world today with (possible) future genocide, and parallels in Star Wars to the Jedi Purge, the genocide orchestrated by Palpatine at the end of the prequel trilogy. We also talk about possible solutions and roadblocks to fighting genocide as well as pushing back on Dr. Stanton's recommendations (involving the UN and international courts….yikes) --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/conspiracyintheforce/support

The backstory behind Boushh takes center stage in the pages of War of the Bounty Hunters -- Boushh #1, a one-shot tie-in to the crossover event that lays the foundation for a potential mini-series or, at the very least, more stories to come in the upcoming Crimson Reign five-issue mini. It's a deftly written, lushly illustrated story about Boushh and four more Ubese, as well as a deeper dive into Domina Tagge, too, a character whose manipulations have been threading through the second volume of Doctor Apha. In Darth Vader #16, Greg Pak's exploration of Vader's pursuit of Skywalker is given another vantage point as Luke gamely tries to draw out his father's attention so that Leia, Lando and Chewie can make an honest push at rescuing Han Solo before he's taken to the SSD Eexecutor. While portions of the issue may seem familiar (if you've read the previous issues of Star Wars and WotBH, they are), it provides a telling base for Ochi's devotion to Vader and Sly Moore's to Palpatine. In The High Republic-era The Monster of Temple Peak #2, Ty Yorick gains an almost padawan, despite her efforts not to, as the lushly illustrated mini-series that should have been released as a graphic novel (as it was suppose to be) moves forward in its storytelling.Upcoming Star Wars comics include:Sept. 22 | Ghosts of Vader's Castle #1 (of 5), Bounty Hunters #16, Star Wars: Rebels, Vol. 2 (Manga)Sept. 29 | Star Wars #17, Star Wars Adventures #10, Ghosts of Vader's Castle #2 (of 5), The High Republic #8 (2nd Printing), War of the Bounty Hunters #3 (2nd Printing)Oct. 6 | Star Wars Adventures: Smuggler's Run TPB, The High Republic — Trail of Shadows #1 (of 5), The High Republic Adventures #9, War of the Bounty Hunters #5 (of 5), Ghosts of Vader's Castle #3 (of 5)Oct. 13 | Star Wars #18, Doctor Aphra #15, War of the Bounty Hunters — IG-88 #1, Ghosts of Vader's Castle #4 (of 5), The High Republic #1 Halloween ExtravaganzaOct. 20 | Ghosts of Vader's Castle #5 (of 5), Star Wars Adventures #11, Darth Vader (Vol. 2) Omnibus, Darth Vader #17, The High Republic #10Oct. 27 | Bounty Hunters #17, The Monster of Temple Peak #3 (of 4)Nov. 3 | The High Republic #11, The High Republic Adventures #10, Star Wars Legends: Rise of the Sith OmnibusNov. 10 | Doctor Aphra #16, The Monster of Temple Peak #4 (of 4), The Trail of Shadows #2 (of 5), Star Wars Legends Boba Fett: Blood Ties TPB, The High Republic Adventures, Vol. 1, TPB, Star Wars Episodes IV-IX Adaptation Box Set (IDW)Nov. 17 | Darth Vader #18, Star Wars: Life Day #1, Star Wars Adventures #12, Star Wars (Vol. 3), Vol. 3 TPB (Collects #13-18)Nov. 24 | Star Wars #19, Bounty Hunters #18, Star Wars Adventures Annual 2021, War of the Bounty Hunters TPB (Collects Alpha #1, War of the Bounty Hunters 1-5), War of the Bounty Hunters Companion TPB (Collects Jabba, IG-88, Boushh, 4-LOM & Zuckuss)Nov. 30 | Star Wars: The High Republic, Vol. 2, TPB (Collects #6-10), Doctor Aphra (Vol. 2), Vol. 3, TPB (Collects #11-15)Dec. 1 | Star Wars: Crimson Reign #1 (of 5) Star Wars Adventures (Vol. 2), Vol. 1, “The Light & the Dark” TPBDec. 8 | Star Wars (Vol. 3), Vol. 3, “War of the Bounty Hunters,” TPB, Attack of the Clones Graphic Novel Adaptation from IDWDec. 15 | Doctor Aphra (Vol. 2), Vol. 3, “War of the Bounty Hunters” TPB, The High Republic, Vol. 2, “The Heart of Drengir” TPBDec. 22 | Darth Vader (Vol. 3), Vol. 3 TPB (Collects #12-17)Dec. 29 | Bounty Hunters, Vol. 3, TPB (Collects #12-17)March 2 | Star Wars Legends: The Empire Omnibus, Vol. 1April 13 | Darth Vader (Vol. 1) Omnibus (New Printing)

DARK SIDE FRIDAY - Did you know Palpatine feared Qui-Gon Jinn? Palpatine was immensely powerful and he could see the future which made him very confident about pretty much anyone who stood against him. So why Qui-Gon Jinn? Qui-Gon Jinn was a “different” sort of Jedi who didn't believe in all the principles of the Jedi Order. He followed the Jedi code but also followed more of the doctrine of the “living Force.” He was a rebel and a renegade. What was it about Qui-Gon that made this powerful Sith Lord so afraid? DARK SIDE FRIDAY - Today we open up this interesting history of when Plagueis and Palpatine first met. We detail how this infamous master and apprentice relationship was born. This is a very interesting time of Sith history. During this time, the Jedi believed that the Sith were all gone. Today we are going to dive into an interesting moment from Return of the Jedi. At the end of The Empire Strikes Back, Darth Vader confesses to Luke that he is his father. Vader invites Luke to rule the galaxy with him as father and son. Vader has been forced to stay in allegiance with the Emperor, but Vader's true desire is to overthrow the Emperor. If Vader wanted the Emperor to be destroyed, why did Vader stop Luke from killing the Emperor in episode 6? It stands to reason that Vader would have benefited from Luke taking his best shot to end Palpatine once and for all. So why block him? Listen in as we find out why Vader stopped Luke from killing the Emperor in Return of the Jedi. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

NERD THEORY IRL - Today Josh and I discuss The Bad Batch Season Finale. The ending sequence looks like it takes place on Mount Tantiss. This is the mountain in Timothy Zahn's - "Heir to the Empire" where Palpatine conducted tons of experiments. This is also the location where Jorus C'Baoth had Luke fight the evil clone of Luke. We will discuss what this could mean and how I think The Bad Batch is about to become one of the most insane animated Star Wars shows. As always, we will also discuss and debate Star Wars news and any new updates. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Lego Star Wars has a new Halloween Holiday Special coming out October 1 "Terrifying Tales" We all want to visit the new Galactic Star Cruiser at Galaxy's Edge...now if we could just afford it. Disney looking for an actress to play Sabine in Live Action? What did Vader do with Ahsoka's lightsabers? Obi Wan did not let Anakin kill him in A New Hope! We discuss Bad Batch #15 Return to Kamino We loved the music, the dialogue, the symmetry of starting Clone Wars in the battle chamber on Kamino and ending things in the same room. Crosshair is conflicted. @rulethegalaxysw on Twitter firstname.lastname@example.org Rule the Galaxy on YouTube and Facebook @darksaberlight and check our Stories by Darksaber Light podcast
We are going to examine an interesting question raised by one of our viewers in the Super Chat during Nerd Theory. If Mace Windu had chosen the Dark Side, would Palpatine have taken Mace over Anakin? This is an interesting question considering Palpatine liked to trade up his apprentices. Mace was a very powerful Jedi. His ability to harness the Dark Side would have given him a strong advantage with developing a command of the Dark Side at a faster pace. Listen as we open up this interesting question and dissect whether or not Palpatine would have chosen Dark Side Mace Windu over Anakin Skywalker. Learn more about your ad choices. WHAT IF WEDNESDAY - Today we explore the “What If” scenario : What if Anakin and Padme never fell in love? If Anakin never had his relationship with Padme, how would this have changed his trajectory? Would he still be obsessed with prolonging life? How would he have handled Palpatine and his manipulation? Would his relationship with Ahsoka Tano have been different if his heart was free? Let's open up this interesting alternate timeline and see what may have happened if Anakin and Padme never fell in love. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
