Japanese exclusive Super Famicom games was the focus here. Much of the best VGM from the third and fourth generation never made it out of Japan. Luckily for you though, the LMH boizz are here to share some of these incredibly smooth, jazzy, and just plain bonk tracks with you. Energetic and memorable tracks like "Ending" from Drift King Shutokou Battle '94: Tsuchiya Keiichi &
Willow! Straight from Josh Nance’s heart to the shores of TADPOG. It doesn’t help us get to the end of the SNES library any quicker but we all need to live a little. Claire is back and we take some time to talk about where she's been and how MAGfest was. Claire has been playing a bunch of idle games, especially Melvor Idle which is essentially an MMO in idle form. While that runs, she also has been playing SoulBlazer on the SNES. Paul plays fangame called Mega Man Rock 'N Roll and loves it. Not a lot of news, Ubisoft is "restructuring" and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake is officially cancelled as one of 7 sacrifices to the corpo-Gods. Also, we finally get some more info on Beast of Reincarnation (the new GameFreak game), Forza Horizon 6 and first looks at the new Fable. Also, Double Fine are doing some multiplayer pot thing called Kiln. All this and more on a very, very tired episode of the TOP DOWN PERSPECTIVE. --- TDP is listener funded. Like what you hear? The subject of artificial intelligence was a loose theme in Episode 281. But don't worry, no A.I. was used to create this mixtape. Just some great taste and a lot of great music. Things start off with "Boat Fishing at Kenzaki" from Fishing Koushien. You can always count on fishing games to bring the jams. "Military" from Rise of the Robots features some distinctive

At first, we thought Terminator 2D: No Fate looked and felt like a flawless recreation of the movie tie-ins for the SNES. Then we watched gameplay of the actual Terminator 2 SNES game. Time does not favor the cash grabs. In hindsight, developers Bitmap Bureau performed a modest miracle, perfectly recreating how we remember trashy retro games — without actually becoming one of them. This is the game that Terminator fans should rememberWe talk about this side-scrolling confection, our fading memories of movie-to-game adaptations, and more! The unofficial theme of this episode was "making connections." For one, Rob had a running theme through his choices. Did you catch the theme? There were also a lot of connections made between tracks and other media of which those tracks were reminiscent. For example, "Burning Fighter (Stage 3)" from Surprise Attack had parts that reminded the boizz of music from the movie

Many have told me this is in their top 2 X games alongside the original, and now that I've played it for myself, I get it.The original trilogy of Mega Man X games on the SNES range from perfection to meh (in my books), so I was curious to see how the series would go once it left the 16-bit era. And while X4 definitely shares some DNA with the very subpar Mega Man 8, it brings the heat in practically every way and is anything but subpar. AND it's 2 games in one, because you can play as X AND Zero! The Dr. Light to my Dr. Wily, Dan from Dissect That Film returns to this week to talk more Maverick hunting. We went longer than I expected us to with this one, but when you're talking mega Man there's never enough. With 2 playthroughs to break down, plus rambling about the series as a whole and those legendary cutscenes, we had a ton to get to.And before we X, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks for breakup advice in video game context and I try my best. This was a unique episode that went beyond even the "beyond" episodes. While there were still some limits to this "anything goes" episode (the music had to be from a game), it allowed not just beyond third and fourth generation, but beyond consoles as well. Meaning computer games, video games, and even slot machines were all allowed in this one time special offer. And what

I've been singing the praises of Bioshock for years, and finally decided it was time to replay and review the sequel.I hadn't played Bioshock 2 since it released, and all I really remembered about it was that you played as a Big Daddy. Taking it for as pain for the first time in almost 15 years was a blast, and while I (ironically) the the Big Daddy mechanic falls a little flat, I still can't get enough of the world of Rapture.Ye olde Tylet is helping me close out the year by talking about killing crazy people with drills and singing the praises of genius Andrew Ryan's world of Rapture. Would you kindly join us?And before we go harvesting, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks if the Switch has surpassed the SNES as my favourite console? I liked a lot about Cyberpunk 2077--from the side missions to the combat to the visuals and plenty more-- but the character of Johnny Silverhand and the performance of Keanu Reeves was not one of them. This wouldn't have been a big problem if he wasn't such a crucial part of the main story, but he is and can't help but show up all of the time, so I couldn't help but only like Cyberpunk 2077 when I thought I was going to love it. It's time for the holidays…and what did people receive as a gift during this time of year back in 1992? The Super Scope 6 of course! Nintendo's successor to the NES Zapper was a bazooka-shaped monolith of potential. Though the final game library was small, the Super Scope 6 was full of untold gaming possibilities. In this week's episode of The Game Deflators Podcast, John and Ryan bring a packed agenda to the table. The duo kicks things off with fresh updates from their ongoing Strixhaven D&D campaign, sharing the latest twists, character antics, and how the story is evolving. Looking ahead, they set their New Games Resolutions for 2026, laying out the titles they're determined to play, backlog goals, and what they hope to accomplish as gamers in the new year. The conversation then shifts to the 2025 Game Awards, where John and Ryan break down the highlights of the show, their favorite (and least favorite) trailers, and whether the event lived up to the hype. Adding a more analytical angle, the hosts dive into a new Boston Consulting Group report on gamer purchasing habits, exploring what the data says about how players are spending, and what it could mean for the industry moving forward. Finally, they wrap things up with a retro spotlight: a review of Batman Returns for the SNES, revisiting the beat 'em up classic to see if it still holds up today. 00:00 Introduction to the Game Deflators Podcast 01:17 Recent Game Pickups and D&D Updates 03:36 D&D Campaign Adventures and Challenges 10:58 Future Campaign Plans and Game Mechanics 19:39 Current Gaming Experiences and New Game Resolutions 27:48 Nostalgia in Collectibles and Blind Boxes 28:21 Exploring Metal Gear Solid: A Legendary Experience 34:19 New Game Resolutions and Game Picks 38:08 Game Awards Highlights and Reactions 49:17 Exciting Game Trailers and Anticipations 56:43 The Changing Landscape of Gaming Purchases 01:01:03 Backlogs and Gaming Habits 01:04:31 Inflation vs. Deflation: Game Pricing Discussion Want more Game Deflators content? They briefly touched on the game's sequel, Ring of Destruction Slammasters 2, and its updated version, Muscle Bomber Duo Ultimate Team Battle. Scott highlighted the game's difficulty and the fun of multiplayer matches, while Jefry provided details on the game's reception, including reviews from various publications. Saturday Night Slammasters Nostalgia Jefry and Scott discussed their fond memories of playing the wrestling game Saturday Night Slammasters on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), which they both rated highly. They compared it favorably to the Genesis version.. Scott shared nostalgic memories of playing the game with friends in a crowded room with a small TV. They briefly discussed the value of rare SNES game cartridges on eBay, including an overseas version that sold for a significant amount. This episode's theme is repetition. That means tracks that use repetition as an element of the music. For example, this helps add an element of suspense and fear for tracks such as "Stage One" from Alien 3 or "Delusion (Round 3-2)" from Zombie Nation. It can also be a steady driving force for tracks like "Character Presentation" from Mini-Yonku Let's & Go!! Power WGP 2 or "Placings" from

The Super Famicom, known as the Super Nintendo (SNES) here in North America, came out in Japan 35 years ago this year. It was Nintendo's successor to the dominant NES and it marked a real turning point for the games industry at the time. Not just in the evolution of game design but also in the market itself. With the SNES and rival Sega Genesis (Mega Drive outside of North America) fighting for market dominance, it sparked a console war that is still talked about today. Helping me break this down and more are friends of the show Nadia Oxford and Dan Greenberg! Nadia, Dan and I talk about the world in which the SNES was born into, how it competed with Sega, what games we love on the system and much more! Now you're playing with POWER. For those users about to rock, we salute you! This was the third time the boizz focused on rock music.
