Not to be confused with "Flying and Shooting," this episode topic includes ANY type of shooting, and with that in mind, we're gonna shoot right out of the gate with an incredibly bonk track. Or more accurately, a Super Bonk track! "Shoot the Smiley!" from Super Bonk on the SNES has an infectious and uplifting melody that gets this mixtape started right. "Team/Settings Select"
Scooby-Doo Mystery (1995) for the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Both titles shared the same name but were completely different games developed by separate studios: Illusions Gaming Company and Argonaut Software. The Genesis version took a point-and-click adventure approach with investigation and dialogue mechanics, while the SNES version played as a platforming mystery with clue collection and a fear meter system. It's 2002. I'm 17 years old... I just landed a job at FuncoLand at the height of the 6th console gen. In this 'Memories' episode, I'm going to take you with me as I revisit what it was like to be a video game store employee during better days. You'll learn about what working there was like, but also the experiences and memories I carry with me to this day, and even some Patron submitted stories! This is one of the biggest projects I've ever produced, and I hope some of it resonates with your life a little bit too. This week on The Free Cheese, there's a lot more than zombies to talk about. Who knew we would be tackling two difficult games back to back? Zombies Ate My Neighbors brings over forty levels of various challenges with themes that take us outside of the neighborhood against many different monster types from classic horror tropes. We discuss our time with the game and what surprised us about playing this classic title, then rank it on The List.
All rise, court is in session. Today we will be presenting evidence that the Legacy Music Hour is guilty of spreading video game music of the "tenner" variety. Exhibit B: "Stage 5" from Shadow of the Ninja

This episode had a fun theme: tracks that end. Meaning, tracks that don't loop indefinitely. That's right, you'll find a lot of title themes and ending/credits tracks here, as opposed to stage BGMs which usually loop. Spooky season is here, and to celebrate we are kicking off October with a look at one of the oldest horror themed video game franchises (that also just celebrated a 40th anniversary) - Ghosts 'n Goblins! We cover the early games on NES, Genesis, and SNES that everyone knows and loves. Wait, does everyone love them? I thought so, but maybe not... We then cover some of the spin-off games with the Gargoyle's Quest and Maximo series before getting back into the more recent traditional releases on PSP and modern consoles. And if that's not enough Ghosts 'n Goblins content for you, we dive really deep into some obscure offshoots with some True or False trivia. So grab your dagger, and your - oh shoot I accidentally grabbed my torch. No one likes the torch. Well anyway, keep playing until the dagger shows back up and then join us for this deep dive - of Ghosts 'n Goblins!
This episode is all about Another Crab's Treasure, a soulslike where you play as a young hermit crab trying to get his shell back. I recently played the Pixel Remaster version for the first time, so I wanted to give Cecil and friends another round of RTG.I don't disagree with anyone that says Final Fantasy VI is the superior game, but IV isn't without its charm. I love the characters, betrayals, and combat system, and personally I like the linear party management of this one better to future entries where you can mix and match as you please. It's really wild to see how far JRPGs have come since Golbez's started robbing jewelry stores, and I think FF IV deserves its flowers for helping the series evolve from its basic NES counterparts.Captain N of the Retrotopia podcast joins me this week and we both geeked out pretty hard over this game. A couple dungeons (Dark Elf) and characters (Spoony Bard) got under our skin, but at the end of the day I think we agree that this is a must-play for fans of the genre, and a great place for someone new to Final Fantasy to get their feet wet. This is the ideal. With every Second Runs episode, I hope to find out I not only still love the game I'm playing, but that I love it even more. That was the case with Sleeping Dogs. I remembered liking it a lot the first time I played it, but I adored it the second time. I adored it so much, I made it one of the rare games I 100%-ed, completing every aspect of the game, DLC included. Not only that, but I think I might do it a second time with the original release (which is truly insane if I do it). Long story short, Sleeping Dogs is a fantastic game, one well worth playing if you've never played it before.

In this episode of The Game Deflators podcast, John and Ryan dive into a whirlwind of gaming topics. Starting with their latest Magic: The Gathering pickups and Ray's experience with the Spiderman pre-release. The duo then shares what they've been playing lately, with John visiting the gritty fantasy world of The Witcher 1 and Ryan eagerly exploring the atmospheric depths of Hollow Knight: Silksong. Have you've ever listened to a track and liked it, but wished there was more? That was the theme for this episode. For example, the short, twenty second long track from Gomola Speed sounds like the beginning of an 80's goth or new wave track. While still good on its own, it leaves you wishing there was just a bit more. Of course, these opinions are all subjective. So
Today on Beyond Synth we say goodbye to “My Favourite Game” and Hello to Miami Nights 1984 who wants to talk all about Chrono Trigger for the SNES.
