fictional character in Star Wars
The Batch is back, back again! In the SEASON 2 PREMIERE (!!!) we talk about war, peace, love, death, capitalism, exploitation, and Count Dooku's tragic backstory. Also, everybody's sweet new character designs. “Spoils of War” and “Ruins of War” smash-open Season 2 of The Bad Batch with business as usual. Except…business is about to get unusual. In a few months, Cid predicts that the Empire will be knocking down her door on Ord Mantell, and the Bad Batch's vagrant lifestyle will be over….unless they loot Count Dooku's palace on Serenno and use his former war chest to start a new life. But just like the light shifts through a kaleidoscope, jobs for the Bad Batch rarely go as planned. And these two episodes give us some deep looks into how far the Batch has come, and where they might be headed in the future. Join us next week to recap “The Solitary Clone” and “Faster” (Season 2, Episodes 3–4). Count Dooku's bio-weapon is ready, but Obi-Wan and Anakin remain trapped behind enemy lines. Can the Jedi rescue them before the weapon is released, and Dooku brings the Republic to its knees?
This week on the Bridge of Two podcast Josh kicks off the episode with a scary story you won't want to miss. For our drink break we go deep into WaWa snack culture and after that we are diving into the Tales of the Jedi mini-series from Dave Filoni. Join us on the Bridge as we chart the path of Dooku's downfall.
At last, The High Republic -- The Nameless Terror #1 (of 4) is in comic shops. Was it worth the wait?Yes, very much so.Will it be difficult to wait almost two months until issue #2 is released?Yes, if #1 is anything to go by, since George Mann, Eduardo Mello, Ornella Savarese, Studio RAM, Matt Dryer, Sanjay Dharawat, Stephen Reichert and Samantha Hummer have delivered a crackling debut issue that ties into The High Republic mythology with ease while creating an aura of suspense. In Yoda #4 (of 10), writer Jody Houser returns to the galaxy a long time ago, reteaming with artist Luke Ross for a three-issue arc that features Yoda in a story set before the Prequel Trilogy and featuring Jedi Master Dooku. THey're joined by color artist Nolan Woodard and letter Joe Caramagna of Virtual Caligraphy. It's a well-paced start that gives us more elements of the Count before his faith in the Jedi was lost and features a trio of young Padawans -- a togorian, wookiee and trandoshan -- that echoes Dooku's own relationship with SIfo-Dyas. Astute readers will recognize a key event in this issue from the pages of Age of Republic: Count Dooku #1. That issue has more emotional heft now. Finally, in Doctor Aphra (Vol. 2) #29, Aphra finds herself in an unusual spot: Completely oblvious to the Spark's dire plans. The story by Alyssa Wong, artist Natacha Bustos, color artist Rachelle Rosenberg and letter Joe Caramagna, blends long-ago history with the effort by Chelli's friends to come to her rescue in a brisk story. The new year kicked off with the return of The Bad Batch for Season Two of the animated series. Although some time has passed since the destruction of Kamino at the end of Season One, Clone Force 99 and the galaxy as a whole are still very much living in the aftermath of the end of the Clone Wars and amid the early days of the Galactic Empire. In this context, it makes sense that the Separatists, although defeated militarily in the war, continue to have a lingering impact on the story. In this episode of Hyperspace Theories, Tricia Barr and B.J. Priester examine the role of the Separatists in the world-building and character development of The Bad Batch in the first three episodes of Season Two. The premise of “Spoils of War” and “Ruins of War” involves Clone Force 99 trying to steal a small portion of Dooku's “war chest” from his home base of Serreno. Along the way, Omega and her brothers learn important new information about the Separatist leaders, the Empire, and the impact of the war on everyday people on Separatist worlds. The third episode, “The Solitary Clone,” unfolds a similar eye-opening scenario for Crosshair. Reunited with fan-favorite Commander Cody, Crosshair can fall back into the familiar routine of blasting “clankers” and following orders to complete the mission. But he also learns first-hand that the new Empire is not interested in peace, only power, and ends the episode weighing Cody's words about choices and consequences. Happy New Year we are back with Clone Force 99 for Star Wars The Bad Batch 201 "Spoils of War". The first of the two part season 2 premiere of The Bad Batch. The Bad Batch 201"Ruins Of War" Synopsis Series Created by: Jennifer Corbett, Dave Filoni, Brad Rau Episode Written by: Jennifer Corbett Story Editor: Matt Michnovetz Episode Directed By: Steward Lee The Bad Batch narrowly escape from a Mission on the Vonduun carnivorous crab infested planet of Zav Alox and return to Cid on Ord Mantell. There they meet the pirate Phee who has just provided intel on a big score on Count Dooku's home planet of Serenno. Cid convinces the reluctant Hunter that this could be the score they need for the Bad Batch to be truly free. On the way to Serenno Echo challenges Hunter on his unwillingness to approach Empire controlled planets. Omega overhears Echo telling Hunter that saving her from Kamino means their lives will never be safe but this score could provide the resources to save many more. On Serenno the team encounters a battalion of Clone Troopers who have already taken two thirds of Count Dooku's sizable war chest. While Echo, Tech and Omega get trapped inside a transport container in flight, Wrecker and Hunter are pinned down by the troopers in Dooku's former palace. Hunter discovers a way out of the palace and Omega realises the container will launch reentry thrusters if it's dropped from the sky. But as they hurtle towards the planet the thrusters haven't engaged. The Bad Batch Cast Dee Bradley Baker as Hunter, Echo, Wrecker, Tech, Crosshair and Rex. So in Star Wars at this point we've seen so many different deaths of force users, whether it be Maul being chopped in half, to Dooku being beheaded, Anakin's fall to Obi-Wan, or later with Disney how they keep gutting one another and surviving. Rey doing it to Kylo, and Reva being stabbed twice in the gut once as a child by Darth Vader in the Jedi Temple and later as an adult by Darth Vader again, and surviving both times. With all of these deaths, the most controversial one of them all, especially after Disney has made their projects, is in regards to Qui-Gon Jinn's death. Qui-Gon was my favorite Jedi, and it is no question that if he had survived, the fate of the galaxy would have literally changed. He would have been the father figure Anakin needed in order to battle his demons and not be seduced to the Dark Side by Darth Sidious. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In episode 4 of Tales of the Jedi, Dooku deletes all information regarding Kamino in the archives, and walks out to see many people chattering. He asks Jedi master Jocasta Nu, the archive keeper, what the fuss is about. She says Qui-Gon has claimed to have encountered a Sith Lord, and that he always had quite the imagination, much like you, Dooku. Dooku glances around the room at the chattering members of the Jedi Temple and says a quality valued less and less in these great halls. This right here is literally the reason Dooku turned to the dark side. He saw that the Jedi didn't care anymore to think for themselves. This was the reason that Qui-Gon was not on the Jedi Council, despite being granted the rank of master. He had the tendency to act on his judgment, and to sway to the will of the force, rather than be dogmatic like the Jedi had become. For example, no other Jedi member would have manipulated the chance cube like he did in the bet to free Anakin as a slave from Watto. Every other Jedi would have left it to chance, but Qui-Gon took control of the situation and wouldn't have let this vergence in the force that was Anakin, be taken from him by the luck of a chance cube which was probably rigged by Watto anyway, let's be real. So this is an interesting question and one that was raised at the end of Tales of the Jedi when Dooku told Palpatine that Qui Gon could have been a powerful ally, had he not died. Sidious said, for you, and the conversation started to shift. So today, let's discuss the possibility of qui-gon actually turning away from the Jedi and joining Dooku. Now before we begin we need to understand Qui-Gon a little bit better for those new to the channel and to Star Wars. Qui-Gon was a maverick. He went his own way. He wasn't on the Jedi council by choice, he knew the decisions he made and his overall view of the force was what made him unfit in the council's eyes. For example, many fans would argue that qui-gon Jinn's use of the force to manipulate the chance cube with Watto was an act of the Dark Side, or rather, more in the middle of light and dark, grey some would call it. I always saw it as him balancing the odds since Watto's chance cube was rigged by Watto himself. Qui-Gon was all about trusting the force, and believing balance was key. This is why he would have literally been the best father figure and teacher to Anakin, preventing his whole downfall. Now, here's an excerpt from the book master and apprentice which is canon. It's a quote from qui-gon jinn to rael aveross who was once Dooku's apprentice that Qui-Gon grew close with. "I don't turn toward the light because it means someday I'll 'win' some sort of cosmic game. I turn toward it because it is the light." Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
During the 4th episode of Tales of the Jedi, titled Sith Lord, we arrive at the moment where Qui-Gon's funeral is about to commence. During this funeral, we didn't see Count Dooku at all. Which is weird, considering he was Qui-Gon's master and the closest to him. In this episode we finally get the proper canon answer as to why Dooku didn't go and what I think would have happened, if he had. Yaddle tells Dooku that the funeral is to be held on Naboo soon. Dooku says he doubts he'll be pleasant company and she asks if he holds the council accountable. Dooku turns to look at her and callously says Qui-Gon has become one with the force, it's time to let him go. So, from this we know two things. Dooku blames the council for Qui-Gon's death, but more importantly, him not being there says a lot about what would have happened. Dooku would have probably tried to fight all of them, mainly Mace Windu and Yoda. I don't think it would have ended well for him against Yoda, but with him tapping into the dark side, I believe he would have stood a fair chance against all the other Jedi. Dooku was always such an underrated Jedi, and I feel this show really helps fans understand why he turned to the dark side. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
In Tales of the Jedi we saw the climactic end to Yaddles life at the hands of Count Dooku. It seemed Yaddle was one of the only Jedi who wasn't disillusioned with politics and disbelief that the Sith had returned. When she followed Dooku to the works which was a secret meeting spot for Sidious and his apprentices, she learned of the true nature of Dooku and Sidious' intentions to destroy the Jedi. It was here that Dooku was ordered to kill Yaddle as a final test of loyalty to Darth Sidious, his new master. Before defending herself, she gave Dooku the option to join her and kill Sidious. So what if Dooku did join her? That's what we'll discover in today's fan fiction. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Welcome back to another Fantasy Battle, today we're going to analyze the fantasy fight between Palpatine and Count Dooku. Now, before some of you scoff and say well Palpatine would obviously win, and while you are probably right, I think it'd be interesting to deep dive into their fighting styles, force powers and overall psychology to see how the fight would really turn out. Would it be more difficult for Palpatine than the Jedi he fought in his office? Or would it be easier? Thank you for listening to today's podcast.
