And we're back! Apologies for the long wait between episodes. I have been trying to wrangle cats together so we can continue the podcast.Fortunately, life got in the way. Not in a bad way of course. I recently got married. AJ and his wife had their second baby. Life is good.You know what else is good? Star Wars Visions. Especially this season. For those unfamiliar, Disney took the license and went to the far east. Though I am unfamiliar with the studios they chose, the results speak for themselves.What were produced were completely original story lines and characters with some of the most unique animation styles to come from the island. Yes, volume one is clearly anime from Japan. Volume two includes the likes of the creators of Wallace and Gromit. Volume three marks the return of some of the first studios that were approached. By far, my favorite episode of volume one was the first, "The Duel." The animation pays homage to Akira Kurosawa with the Japanese aesthetic and being animated mostly black and white. Not to mention the rogue sith's lightsaber drawn from it's scabbard much the way a samurai would. Back then, my criticism for all episodes was that each had some sort of lightsaber gimmick. While it was cool to see Darth Maul ignite his double-bladed lightsaber in 1999 and later Kylo Ren with his cross-guard lightsaber, there has been an explosion of goofy and impractical designs. One only has to watch a few episodes of the much hated Acolyte to see what I am talking about. We hope you liked this episode of visions as much as we did. My brother and I disagreed about one of the characters. Speaking of teases, sources have told The Hollywood Reporter that Marvel plans to show four different Doomsday teaser trailers that will play in front of Avatar: Fire & Ash. Last week we speculated about what Scarlett Johansson's role might be in The Batman II…and didn't have to wait long to find out! Prominent leaker The InSneider reported Johansson will be cast as Gilda Dent, wife of Harvey Dent or Two-Face. It is also reported the studio is looking around to cast Harvey and his father, Christopher Dent, though this is all unconfirmed by DC Studios at this time. Hunger Games fans, rejoice! Peeta and Katniss return, as Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are confirmed to return to the Hunger Games prequel film, Sunrise on the Reaping. While no details are truly known, with the movie focusing on other characters and a different time period, it looks likely that these two will appear in a flash forward or something of that nature. This second prequel film releases next year on November 20.Rob and Michele Reiner both died this week tragically. Rob Reiner directed countless memorable films such as The Princess Bride, This Is Spinal, and The American President plus so many more.Sony is moving forward with a third installment of the 28 Years Later franchise. Franchise writer Alex Garland is working on the script.Zootopia 2 crossed the $1 billion dollar global box office mark this weekend, the fastest for any PG film in history.Less than two weeks after it was revealed that Paramount had partnered with Blumhouse-Atomic Monster on a reboot of Paranormal Activity, The Hollywood Reporter has learned the project is now landing a director: rising Canadian filmmaker Ian Tuason.Lucas FIlm has announced a handful of upcoming Star Wars projects over the last few days including two video games, one an RPG titled The Fate of the Old Republic, and another a racing game titled Star Wars: Galactic Racer. In addition, a five issue miniseries focusing on Darth Maul will also kick off in March of next year and will serve as a prequel to the upcoming Darth Maul TV series. The issues will be written by Benjamin Percy and feature art by Madibek Musabeckov.The first trailer has been released for Street Fighter, which hits theaters on October 16, 2026.Slow Horses star Zachary Hart and Lola Petticrew, who most recently starred in FX's Say Nothing have been cast as series regulars in Netflix's Assassin's Creed series.Sources tell Deadline that Disney is in early development on a film centered on the Beauty and the Beast character Gaston. Day 25 – Episode 175: Insidious (2010)On Day 25 of The Conner & Smith Show's 31 Days of Halloween, I'm flying solo with Insidious (2010) — a film I like and respect well enough, even if I sometimes mix it up with The Conjuring. He is the fourth and current voice of Jiminy Cricket since 2014.Within a mural of a Ghorlectipod, or Ghorman spider from the planet Ghorman, if one looks closely, the body of the spider is the face of an iconic Star Wars villain - Darth Maul. X (formerly Twitter) user Jammin333 noted that the mosaic design is a deliberate homage to Darth Maul.“Andor production designer Luke Hull shared one of the gorgeous Ghorlectipod spider mosaics from the Ghorman cafe. This one appears to embody Darth Maul, who at one point in The Clone Wars became half cyber-spider. Love the design details down to the inverted crescent moon chin,” Jammin333 said in their post.During the Saturday update, Rebirth received another prediction, with the film looking at a worldwide opening of $312.5 million, ahead of the initial projection of $260 million. That leads to the second-biggest global opening of the year, just behind A Minecraft Movie, which dangerously neared $1 billion and ended its run at $953.1 million, and ahead of Lilo & Stitch, which is soon set to surpass the former as it has already grossed $951.5 million worldwide.Rebirth won't have the biggest opening in the Jurassic franchise, as it trails behind Jurassic World's $525 million. The film also has the second-best offshore opening so far, behind the Chinese animation Ne Zha 2, and ahead of Lilo & Stitch. Jurassic World Rebirth also had the best Fourth of July haul for a No. 1 film post-COVID-19, and it outranked 2024's Despicable Me 4.

On the industrial ship-building planet Corellia, Lady Proxima, leader of the White Worms gang, is after a hyperfuel known as coaxium. That's when we meet Han. He is trying to escape Corellia for good. He feels confident he can do that after getting his hands on some coaxium.  His girlfriend Qi'ra is pumped. But as they go to escape, they are found by some of Proxima's baddies and are taken to her. He's like oh I don't have an coaxium, but what i do have is THIS! He pulls out a rock and throws it through a window which lets in light which Proximia and her species are allergic to and they escape! But it does take long for them to catch up with him and a chase ensues. They bribe an Imperial officer at a spaceport for passage off-world. Han makes it through, but Qi'ra is captured at the last moment. Separated by a security gate, Han promises to return for her.Alone and desperate, Han enlists in the Imperial Navy. When asked for his surname, he's called “Solo” since he claims to have no family. Fast forward three years, Han has been expelled from flight school for acting a fool and is now down in the mud of a battle. There, he encounters a group of thieves disguised as soldiers—Tobias Beckett, Val, and Rio. When Han tries to blackmail his way into their crew, Beckett has him arrested and thrown into a pit with a deadly creature: a Wookiee named Chewbacca.Han and Chewbacca form a quick alliance, escaping together and convincing Beckett to take them in. Realizing Chewbacca's brute strength is valuable, Beckett agrees. The crew sets off for their next job—stealing coaxium from a moving train. The heist goes sideways when they're ambushed by a gang of pirates. Rio is fatally shot, Val sacrifices herself, and the coaxium is lost in the chaos.Beckett reveals they were working for Dryden Vos, a high-ranking figure in the Crimson Dawn crime syndicate, and now owe him. To make amends, Han and Chewbacca offer to help steal unrefined coaxium from the mines on Kessel. Beckett agrees and takes them to Dryden's luxurious yacht, where Han reunites with Qi'ra—now a high-ranking lieutenant.Vos approves the plan but insists Qi'ra accompany them. She leads them to the suave smuggler Lando Calrissian, hoping to use his ship, the Millennium Falcon. Han loses a rigged card game to Lando but convinces him to join the mission in exchange for a cut. With Lando's droid co-pilot L3-37 onboard, the team sets off.On Kessel, L3 sparks a riot among droid slaves, while Chewbacca breaks off to free Wookiee prisoners. The team escapes with the coaxium, but L3 is destroyed and Lando is injured. Using L3's navigational system, Han pilots the Falcon. Han hatches a plan to outsmart Dryden Vos. It's a classic double cross station. When they meet again, Dryden exposes Beckett as his informant. But Han had anticipated the betrayal—the coaxium given to Vos is real, and the fake decoy was a bluff.Beckett takes Chewbacca and the coaxium hostage, but Han later confronts and shoots him before he can retaliate. Meanwhile, Qi'ra kills Dryden Vos but secretly contacts her true boss: Darth Maul. She takes Vos's ship and leaves, choosing to embrace her role.Han tracks down Lando and challenges him to a rematch in cards. This time, Han wins, gaining ownership of the Millennium Falcon.With Chewbacca by his side, Han sets off for Tatooine, following a tip about a powerful gangster—Jabba the Hutt—looking for smugglers for a big job.
