GTA VI took over the news across two weeks, and all with a delay and a new trailer. The Thunderbolts* have a new name, and I have a review. Plus Xbox pulls unexpected shenanigans, Ecco the Dolphin is returning, and Art Imitates life, well the other way around as the real Conclave begins. Plus Andor takes it to the next level, while still keeping it very Star Wars.
Following the delay of Fable, it was a coin toss on who would get the nod to follow up Xbox's 2025 summer showcase with a Developer Direct of their own. Now, we have the answer. No, it's not Gears Of War: E-Day and no it's not Halo. It's The Outer Worlds 2! Combined with this reveal, IGN posted over 10 minutes of Outer Worlds 2 gameplay! While it pops the bubble ahead of its full inflation, the Dukes were excited to lay eyes on the game following its December reveal. What has changed? What has improved? Also, what else will we see at this summer's showcase? We're full of guesses, so let's get to speculating! After all these years, its finally revealed, the Nintendo Switch 2! Nintendo's first ever dedicated Switch 2 Direct has aired and the reception has been positive for the most part, although there were definitely some parts that were confusing or left a bitter taste. The games are here, with Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, Kirby Air Riders, plus the majority of third parties with their biggest games like Final Fantasy VII Remake, Yakuza 0, Madden, Elden Ring, and even a brand new Miyazaki From Software game. We go over the hardware, the pricing, and everything else we know about the system so far. #nintendo #switch2 #nintendoswitch2 #mariokart #donkeykong #kirby #ff7 #yakuza #allyoucangeek
This week on New Dad Gaming, it's all about the Nintendo Switch 2. Trevor and Jeff dive into Nintendo's massive announcement, breaking down the upgraded hardware, surprising launch titles, and some truly unexpected exclusives—including Dusk Blood, a spiritual successor to Elden Ring that's only coming to Switch 2 (!). Has Nintendo officially won over the dad gamers? The new Mario Kart World gets a lot of love too, with an open-world racing mode that mixes Burnout Paradise vibes with classic kart chaos. From dolphin drivers to the iconic Moo Moo cow, Nintendo's bringing the magic for kids—and the nostalgia for dads. Other highlights include: New features like Game Chat and Game Share that let up to four consoles play the same game without extra downloads. Switch 2's game streaming, 4K docked output, and 120Hz handheld support. The long-awaited return of GameCube games, including Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Fire Emblem, and more. Launch titles like Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Street Fighter 6, and a Kirby racing game no one asked for. The dads also discuss the new Zelda Notes AI Assistant, a built-in game coach that eerily resembles something they just talked about on a previous episode. Is New Dad Gaming influencing the industry? They'll let you decide. Subscribe to the Podcast!

Autrement dit, vous pourrez relancer votre Breath of the Wild sans souci. A jogabilidade melhorou? The world of gaming sure didn't slow down for turkey week as the Dukes has plenty to dive into! It begins with the handheld wars. Steam, ASUS, Logitech, and many others have thrown their hat into the ring, but most await what Xbox and PlayStation will do. Recently, it was confirmed that an Xbox handheld is in development, but now Bloomberg has suggested that PlayStation is working on their own too. With the rise of PS Plus and streaming, PlayStation is slimming down the gap between them and Xbox on many features. What will Xbox need to do beyond timing its release well to compete with a company as synonymous with handhelds as Nintendo? More importantly, will Xbox and PlayStation find any success in a market that has seen very little handhelds sold in the scheme of things. We're far removed from the days of the Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, and PlayStation Portable. So, what gives? The Dukes sink their teeth into this juicy rumor. Naturally, we discuss the evolving situation including Avowed and its art director. Has the situation gone too far and what action can be taken on both sides to mitigate this disaster? The talk is complicated and so we peel it back layer-by-layer as we get into the thick of another fantasy game caught in chaos. Plus, more on Xbox's new Game Studios lead, Call Of Duty's 4 year development cycle, and much more! This week's episode starts off with a wardrobe change, rumors of Sony working on a new PlayStation handheld, and more "hints" of Final Fantasy VII Remake maybe coming to Xbox who the hell knows when, before getting to what we've been playing with Farming Simulator 25, Cultist Simulator, White Day 2: The Flower That Tells Lies, Glitch Hero, MetroLand, Spellagis. Final Fantasy VII Remake started this epic remake project off with a bang, and it left us with a few questions, namely "what will they do with Aerith?" and "how will they handle the more open world nature of the game post-Midgar?". Both of those answers came in somewhat messy and/or convoluted forms, which I won't spoil here in the podcast description, but it's a good thing we have nearly 3 hours of podcast here to discuss it all! Did Square Enix become another victim of "go woke, get broke?" The beleaguered Japanese RPG publisher took another massive hit to their stock this quarter, even after ditching platform exclusivity. Maybe gamers are withholding their wallets after debacles like censorship in Final Fantasy VII Remake and the Dragon Quest III Remake, or Forspoken... like ALL of it? Square Enix's focus on "AAA Western-style games" and "wokeness" is alienating their core gaming audience and causing them to "bleed money" for years. The company's decision to censor characters from the 30-year-old Dragon Quest series signals to gamers that the game will be "edited and woke". Square Enix's stock plummeted 10% on November 11, 2024, losing $350 million in market value due to declining operating profit and premium game sales. The Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy (2020-2023) exemplifies Square Enix's misguided focus on Western-style games over their traditional Japanese RPG roots. Square Enix's Q3 2024 financial report revealed a 27% year-on-year operating profit decline, prompting investors to sell off stock. The company's decision to sell off Crystal Dynamics and shut down the Tomb Raider and Marvel divisions is seen as a huge blow and sign of decline. Square Enix is facing a significant decline due to financial struggles, alienation of gamers, and a misguided shift in content strategy, leading to a loss of investor confidence and market value. 00:00 Square Enix's decline continues as it alienates gamers, struggles financially, and attempts to pivot too late after years of missteps. 01:15 Square Enix's stock is crashing due to declining AAA studios and a shift towards indie games, leading to a reassessment of their content strategy. 03:36 Square Enix's stock plummeted over 10% after a Q3 report showed a 27% drop in operating profit, raising concerns about its reliance on remakes and neglect of gameplay and storytelling. 06:15 Square Enix's stock dropped 10% amid mixed financial results and declining game sales, losing $350 million in market cap since November. 08:14 Square Enix's stock is crashing as investor confidence wanes over poor Final Fantasy 16 sales and a shift towards Western AAA games. 10:08 Square Enix's focus on wokeness and neglect of gamer preferences is causing a decline in sales and alienating American audiences, while indie games thrive by meeting actual demands. 14:21 Square Enix must focus on releasing more high-quality, engaging games without excessive budgets or lengthy development times to avoid business decline. 15:59 Join Clownfish Minus for exclusive content, discounts, and community engagement.

Summary by Riverside In this episode, the hosts discuss the possibility of an Xbox handheld and the potential impact it could have on the gaming industry. They also explore the idea of introducing other stores, such as Steam, on the Xbox platform. The conversation then shifts to the future of gaming and whether handhelds will become more prevalent than household consoles. Finally, they review the features and specifications of the Orange Pi Neo, a Linux gaming handheld. The conversation covers various topics including the Steam Deck, concerns about its price and functionality, games being played by the hosts, and the announcement of the Marvel 1943: The Rise of Hydra game. The conversation covers various topics including interest in the game Rise of Hydra, the Max Payne 1 and 2 remake, the Nintendo Switch emulator, and incentivizing developers for the Steam Deck. Takeaways The idea of an Xbox handheld is intriguing, but it remains to be seen whether Microsoft will actually release one. Introducing other stores, like Steam, on the Xbox platform could provide more gaming options for players, but it may not be financially beneficial for Microsoft. While handheld gaming is growing in popularity, household consoles are likely to remain a significant part of the gaming industry. The Orange Pi Neo offers an affordable Linux gaming handheld option with impressive features and specifications. The Steam Deck's price and features are compared to other handheld gaming devices. Concerns are raised about potential issues with the Steam Deck, such as trackpad functionality and unknown factors. The hosts discuss the games they have been playing, including Final Fantasy VII Remake, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Diablo 4, and Horizon Forbidden West. The announcement of the Marvel 1943: The Rise of Hydra game generates excitement among the hosts. Rise of Hydra is an interesting game for those who enjoy story-driven games, but gameplay will ultimately determine its success. The Max Payne 1 and 2 remake has the same development budget as Alan Wake 2, showing the success of the game. The Nintendo Switch emulator Yuzu was taken down, but a new emulator called Suyu has emerged. Valve could incentivize developers to optimize their games for the Steam Deck by offering a lower revenue cut.

This may not be an official Final Fantasy VII Rebirth special but it may as well be as it accounts for more than 50% of the episode! Most of us have all spent a decent chunk of time with this hotly anticipated follow up to Final Fantasy VII Remake and while the game certainly has some ROUGH edges in places, it still manages to live up to the hype! Quite honestly, Rebirth is a baffling game; Capturing the spirit and variety of the original game in the most fanciful, expensive way possible... while clumsily fumbling the ball in some truly unexpected places. We also spend some time talking Fantasy Critic, random movie talk, and continuing to shake our heads at the awful state of the industry right now. Random Movie Talk!
