Back in July 2020, Kirk made a special episode of his video games podcast Triple Click all about the music of Final Fantasy VII. It was basically an episode of Strong Songs, it just ran in a different podcast feed. Now it's July 2022, and with Strong Songs on break for the month, it seemed like a good time to run that episode in the Strong Songs feed. So, here it is!Original Show Notes: July 16, 2020It's time for a new segment called “Hey, Listen!”, where Kirk takes listeners deep inside the music for a given video game. This first (and, as it turns out, only) edition focuses on 1997's Final Fantasy VII, as well as some of the new arrangements from 2020's Final Fantasy VII Remake. What makes the original game's music so special? What new musical ideas are introduced in the Remake? And why is Aerith's theme so magical? We kick off the show with a classic segment known as EA is not great, as Jocelyn recounts her time with EA Chat Support to try and access Lost in Random on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on PC. Afterwards, we discuss our thoughts on the game Lost in Random, moving away from our EA woes. Next up, Ryan played some TMNT Shredder's Revenge, while Jocelyn continues to enjoy Marvel Snap. The Weekly Stuff Podcast with Jonathan Lack & Sean Chapman
In today's supercharged extra-long podcast (still less than half-as-long as last week's 10th anniversary spectacular, though), we go through some of the gaming news from Not-E3 2022, including the reveal of the next entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake saga, Persona 3 and 4 coming to modern consoles, Resident Evil VILLage getting DLC, and much more! Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast
This is a week tailor-made for Final Fantasy fans, particularly on the back of Final Fantasy XVI's re-reveal. That's because... well... wait! There's more! During a brief live stream celebrating Final Fantasy VII's 25th anniversary, publisher-slash-developer Square Enix made two big announcements: The 2007 PSP Final Fantasy VII prequel Crisis Core is coming to PS4 and PS5, and the second part of the now-confirmed-three part Final Fantasy VII Remake launches the following winter, only on PlayStation 5. Thus, we have much to digest in the land of role-playing. This jam-packed episode has much more to work over, too, including the leak of an in-production, high-end Elite-style controller for PS5, the long-in-coming confirmation of Dragon's Dogma 2, reliable information concerning God of War: Ragnarok's release month, the arrival of Persona 3 and 4 on PS4, and so on and so forth. Then: Listener inquiries. What game dev jobs would Chris and Dustin want to undertake? Is the audience being too hard on The Last of Us: Part I? Could the incoming economic recession have a negative effect on the games industry? Will Dustin bend the knee and finally kiss Jim Ryan's ring? Learn more about your ad choices.
