Just like most of the world's population I'm hopelessly addicted to my smartphone, whether it be used to avoid talking to my family by playing a pointless grindy mobile game or to earn a small fortune by selling my exclusive Only Fans vegetable videos. But all talk of iPhones and Androids is off the table this week as we look back at the Top 5 Telephones in movies. If you're a fan of the corded landline telephone like we are you'll enjoy reminiscing about those cabled beauties as they graced the celluloid screen, and for the more enthusiastic nomophobes amongst you, you'll delight in Dan revealing the embarrassing technical mistakes some movies have made. With Peter's incredible telephone facts backing all that up, we're really spoiling you this week! Something that spoils were you to leave it for a long time in a particularly hot or cold place, or indeed just for a long time in a fairly mild environment, would be a tangerine. And that segues very nicely into this week's main feature which is Sean Baker's 2015 comedy drama TANGERINE. It's Christmas Eve and recently released from jail transgender sex worker Sin-Dee Rella (Kitana Kiki Rodriguez) discovers her boyfriend and pimp Chester (Ziggy from THE WIRE) has cheated on her, and to make matters worse it was with a "fish". With her best friend Alexandra (Mya Taylor) alongside her she sets out to track down and confront her unfaithful love, whilst Armenian cab driver Razmik (Karren Karagulian) just wants to find a connection among the streetwalkers of Santa Monica boulevard. Ironically given our top 5 this week this movie was short entirely using three iPhone 5's. That's not really irony, more of a coincidence to be honest but the movie is much more than an iPhone gimmick, and its colour saturated palette bathes and reveals a side to Los Angeles and life that is rarely illuminated. There aren't many movies featuring transgender actors that have made an impression on mainstream cinema, this could and should be one. We finish off this week's episode with a look back at M.A.S.K. because why not. The nostalgia is strong with this one, with 3 of us being huge fans of the toys. But did you know the rich and shocking back story behind Miles Mayhem and Matt Tracker's rivalry, involving the death of the latter's brother, Andy? Did you think that T-Bob was just a poor composite of R2-D2 and C-3PO, combining the worst aspects of both of those characters? Has this aged well is the big, big question? Well, you'll just have to tune in to find out. We love to hear from our listeners! By which I mean we tolerate it. Try us on twitter @dads_film, on Facebook Bad Dads Film Review or on our website baddadsfilm.com.Until next time, we remain...Bad Dads

I, for one, bow down to our robot overlords. Robots have been all around us for many years. Why do we have such an obsession for these audacious automata? Jay and Shua look at robots in movies, TV, and life in general on Enjoy Stuff.   Bang your head with some heavy metal! Robots have become a regular part of our life. We look at the history of robots and how they have programmed their way into our pop culture. This week on Enjoy Stuff, it's The Life Robotic with 5T3V3-Z1550U.   News -The purchase of Casa Bonita by Matt Stone and Trey Parker is official -Mexico will soon be able to enjoy Krispy Kreme Donut Cereal -Dress up for breakfast with some Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles Cereal makeup   What we're Enjoying Jay and Shua are both tremendously enjoying the Apple+ series Ted Lasso with Jason Sudekis. It has heart and humor with some great messages thrown in.  Enjoy Life Where did robots come from? How long have they been around? It may surprise you to find out that the first automated machine dates back to 1737. Though ‘Digesting Duck' may have been a far cry from Boston Dynamic's Spot robot, it was still the humble beginnings of centuries of mechanized men.    Once we got our first glimpse of a non-biological creature doing its thing, we couldn't get enough. Soon they were beeping their way into books, movies, toys, and everyday life. We use them to entertain, to do jobs that are too dangerous for humans, and for companionship. (I love you, Roomba!)   To head off the imminent threat of a Cylon takeover, Isaac Asimov created three laws that should keep them in their place. But writers have been challenging that concept in many stories ever since.    But what makes a robot a robot? Could it be classified as an android or a cyborg?    What kinds of robots do you have a magnetic attraction to? Johnny 5? Wall-E? Or do you have more dark tastes and would like to snuggle up with the Terminator? Did you play with robot toys growing up? Or did you wait until we had real robots of today, like the Mars Curiosity Rover?   We would love to hear your thoughts on those plastic pals that are fun to be with. Pierre Bohanna's earliest work on Star Wars began actually as a prop maker for The Phantom Menace. From there, he has worked on every Harry Potter movie, returning to the saga as Supervising Costume Effects Modeler for all of the recent Disney Star Wars movies. Fascinating and incredibly talented, Pierre has some wonderful tales about things like rebuilding C-3PO, redesigning stormtroopers, and lessons learned along the way of nearly 30 years of world building. Check out some wonderful behind the scenes photos that I had never seen before at his website: www.pierrebohanna.com We actually will be taking a short break in July … I'm getting married this weekend, so I'm about to be a bit pre-occupied haha.
