Star Wars news remains scarce, but each month closer to the release of the next project brings us better insights as to what's coming, so why not talk a little about what has come this October? Last month, we got a trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu and this month we hear about Rotta and Colonel Bishop.Ahsoka's second season wrapped production, so now is when we wait until what's left of the Ghost crew gets their public relations directives. You hear that Ahsoka and Hera? Starfighter has a news note, too, believe it or not.Knights of the Old Republic may still get it's "Final Fantasy VII" style reimagining and Quantic Dream might be sleepwalking toward a celestial event. Batuu gets some old parts back...again...and collectors can score some pretty cool pieces of plastic, if they're willing to pay a premium.Feel free to take part in contributing ideas and commenting on our podcasts on YouTube, on Spotify, on Facebook, through Amazon's podcast portal, or even on Discord. One Battle After Another, is what I should rename this podcast, because the movie was that good, and a full review is inside. Plus Xbox takes another self imposed L, Sony gives itself a gold medal, and EA goes private. The Simpsons are headed back to the big screen, and an AI "actress" has Hollywood in a fervor. Plus Forza Horizon is finally headed to the land of the Rising Sun, and Ubisoft gives Assassin's Creed a new home.

While there are fun things to talk about, like the Muppets returning, Nintendo directs, the 90s Console wars, and the new Anaconda. There are also not fun things, like Nintendo and Pokémon behind paywalls, HBO and passwords, and The Long Walk. And at the end, a serious discussion about a topic I try to stay away from, but luckily, that's at the end. Enjoy

Episode 2993: Roger Lawson challenges readers to identify and push through the personal bottlenecks that stall their growth, drawing inspiration from the concept of "limit breaks" in Final Fantasy 7. Michael Boyle underscores the urgency of taking control of physical health early in life, warning that most people begin to deteriorate far before they realize it, and that exercise, not medication, is the real solution. Read along with the original article(s) here: http://roglawfitness.com/whats-your-limit-break & http://roglawfitness.com/guest-post-most-people-are-dead-at-35 Quotes to ponder: "We do not rise to the level of our expectations. We fall to the level of our training." "This is your limit. Regardless of where you are in life, there is always something holding you back from moving forward, and until you can identify and correct it, progress will come to a screeching halt." “Most people are dead at thirty-five, they just walk around for another thirty to forty more years.” Episode references: Final Fantasy VII: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/games/final-fantasy-vii-remake/ The Power of Now: https://www.amazon.com/Power-Now-Guide-Spiritual-Enlightenment/dp/1577314808 Learn more about your ad choices. I sunk about 30 hours into this one to get ready for this episode, and it was time well spent. This is the best RPG I've played in ages. It has an interesting enough story, a small party size (which I love), a banging soundtrack, and when you're not in combat, you can taste a little Link to the Past in the overworked while you use bombs, dashing, and hockshops to solve some pretty deep puzzles. I think Wild Arms gets a little overlooked because it's on the console Final Fantasy VII built, and it really deserves to have more respect put on it. This is a great game. I crossed the retro podcast streams again this week and asked Captain N of the Retrotopia podcast to join me, and we both agreed that aside from a couple minor issues, this is one of the best RPGs in the PlayStation library. And that says something because that was the Attitude Era of role-playing games. We're gonna spoil some plot points and puzzle solutions, but it'll be worth it. Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we begin a new series on 1997's Interstate '76. We set the game a bit in its time, talk about Activision (almost as an afterthought), and then start getting into the characters and the vibe, of which there is much. Sections played: Early mission or two Issues covered: a game time forgot, playing a sim game genre, a unique take on the sim genre plus car combat, prepping the sim elements vs the actual play, other games from that year, taking a formula and doing something different with it, modern exploitation-inspired games, exploitation cinema, grindhouse, other potential influences and inspirations, why you pick sparse environments, breakable cacti, a huge variety of games, low-cost film-making and democratization, vigilantes, a bland corporation, text adventures, a business and not a game company, seeing the impact of acquisition or mergers, character introductions, fake actors playing characters, character names, Groove Champion vs Stiletto Anyway, stylized and simplified characters, flat shading and seeing every polygon, connecting to the character in the cockpit and via the radio, naturally cinematic, stylized presence, jitteriness and physics, compounding errors, deterministic physics, preserving this game and finding ways to play it, just shipping a game, dealing with a controller vs keyboard.
