Preferred Enemies is a podcast devoted to the Warhammer 40K miniatures wargame. The Preferred Enemies - A Warhammer 40K Podcast is my absolute favorite podcast for all things related to Warhammer 40K. As someone who listens to a lot of podcasts, this one stands out because it consistently stays on the topic of 40K and maintains a mostly PG rating, making it safe to listen to in an office setting. This is especially important as many other podcasts in the hobby can often offend people. The hosts, particularly Rob, are entertaining and knowledgeable, and their passion for the game shines through in their discussions.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is its casual and laid-back atmosphere. It feels like I'm listening to a group of friends sitting around and chatting about 40K. While some may find the less professional approach off-putting, I appreciate that it adds a personal touch and makes me feel more connected to the hosts. The content of the podcast is consistently thoughtful, smart, and funny, making it an enjoyable listen whether you're already into 40K or just considering playing.
While there are many positive aspects to this podcast, there are a few areas where improvements could be made. Some listeners may find the lengthy reviews tedious and uninteresting, leading them to fast forward through those parts. Additionally, there are times when the sound quality could be better. However, these minor issues do not detract significantly from the overall enjoyment of the podcast.
In conclusion, The Preferred Enemies - A Warhammer 40K Podcast is an excellent choice for anyone interested in Warhammer 40K or looking to get back into the hobby after a hiatus. The hosts provide informative discussions about news, rules, tactics, and all things tabletop game-related while maintaining a fun and inclusive atmosphere. Despite a few minor flaws in terms of review length and sound quality at times, this podcast remains one of my favorites due to its engaging content and entertaining hosts. I highly recommend giving it a listen.
