The saloon owners won in court, but the temperance ladies absolutely destroyed them in the court of public opinion. Delighted, the preachers and patriarchs who fancied themselves their leaders geared up for victory in the upcoming election ... and seriously overplayed their hand. How skeptical should we be about the bill of goods (often marketed as needs) sold to us by Silicon Valley? Very, says Adam Becker, an astrophysicist and author of the new book, More Everything Forever: AI Overlords, Space Empires, and Silicon Valley's Crusade to Control the Fate of Humanity. From colonizing Mars to building god-like AIs, Becker argues that the fantasies propagated by tech billionaires like Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, Sam Altman, Jeff Bezos and Marc Andreessen aren't just far-fetched – they're a convenient cover for a racist, authoritarian power grab. In this conversation, Kara sits down with her “soulmate” to dissect and debunk the narratives that undergird the less-than-benevolent Big Tech agenda and uphold the status quo. They also discuss why some ideas, like Musk's dream of colonizing Mars, are scientifically impossible; the fallacy of effective altruism; the probability of existential threats against humanity; and how all of these factors add up to more power and more control for the techno-oligarchy. Police Death By Their Own Hand: A Father's Story and Crusade. The tragedy of losing a child is one no parent should ever endure. But for Brian Sizemore, that pain is now a daily reality, and a lifelong mission. His son, Lucas Henry Sizemore, was just 24 years old when he died by suicide. A newly sworn Atlanta City Police Officer, Lucas had recently graduated from the police academy and was serving proudly in Zone 4 Evening Watch. His passing sent shockwaves through the department, his community, and especially his grieving family. This episode of The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast now streaming for free on their website, in addition to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and most major social podcast platforms. “Our hearts are broken, but God is helping us understand and get through each day,” Brian said. “You are loved by so many and will be missed every second of every day for the rest of all of our lives.” The episode is also promoted across their Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , Medium and other social media platforms. Lucas's story is one of promise, service, and deep personal struggle. A graduate of Eastern Michigan University, Lucas had interned with Homeland Security Investigations in Detroit before following his passion for law enforcement to Atlanta. Beyond the badge, he was a vibrant young man who loved the outdoors, he camped, hunted, and enjoyed motorcycle rides. Music was a huge part of his life; he was a frequent concert-goer and loved playing guitar. He also deeply cherished his family and his dogs. Look for supporting stories about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium , Blogspot and Linkedin . His death on January 9th devastated those closest to him. Brian and Marie Sizemore, Lucas's parents, are still trying to process the unimaginable. “The devastation we feel, my wife, myself, and Lucas's brother Evan, is still as raw as it was that day,” Brian explained. Police Death By Their Own Hand: A Father's Story and Crusade. But out of their grief has come a powerful mission: Lucas's Crusade. A Father's Crusade Determined that their son's death not be in vain, Brian and Marie launched LUCAS, an acronym for Law Enforcement's United Crusade Against Suicide. The foundation's goal is to raise awareness about suicide among police officers and push for stronger mental health resources within departments across the country. Available for free on their website and streaming on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast platforms “We will do our best to honor you and help all of your fellow officers,” Brian said. “You do your part, watch over and protect every one of them.” In the U.S., police officers are more likely to die by suicide than in the line of duty. The issue remains one of the most under-addressed mental health crises in law enforcement. Through Lucas's Crusade, Brian has become a voice for those who suffer in silence, and a beacon for families enduring the same pain. Police Death By Their Own Hand: A Father's Story and Crusade. The Atlanta Police Department (APD) responded to Lucas's death with overwhelming compassion. A full honorable funeral and discharge ceremony were arranged to bring him home to Michigan, where he was cremated at Molnar Funeral Homes, Brownstown Chapel. The tribute was not only heartfelt but also a reflection of how deeply Lucas was loved within the department. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast episode is available for free on their website , Apple Podcasts , Spotify and most major podcast platforms. “In his time with the department, he dedicated himself to serving and protecting our community,” the APD shared in a Facebook post. “Lucas was not just one of us, he was family.” A Life Remembered Lucas's memory is cherished by many: his parents Brian and Marie, his brother Evan, his fiancée, and extended family including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. His death is a painful reminder of the human cost behind the badge, and the pressing need for change. Police Death By Their Own Hand: A Father's Story and Crusade. You can listen to his stories and interview on our website for free in addition to platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify, and other major podcast platforms. “We are broken, but we are not defeated,” Brian said during an interview featured in a Podcast on Apple, Spotify, and other social media platforms. “Lucas's life had meaning, and his story will help save others.” The Lucas Foundation urges supporters to donate to the Atlanta Police Foundation, Officer Emergency Fund. Contributions in memory of Lucas are encouraged and will go toward helping officers in crisis. As Brian often says in interviews on LinkedIn, Instagram, and across social channels: “This is not just about one life lost. It's about preventing the next.” A Call to Action The silence around police death by their own hand must end. Lucas's story is just one of many, yet it has become a rallying cry thanks to a grieving father's determination. Through Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and an expanding presence in news, podcasts, and social media, Lucas's Crusade is spreading awareness and changing lives. The full podcast episode is streaming now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. To learn more or support the mission, search Lucas Crusade online or follow their journey across platforms. Every voice raised can save a life. Every share can spark a conversation. And every donation helps a hero find help before it's too late. Police Death By Their Own Hand: A Father's Story and Crusade. In Loving Memory of Officer Lucas Henry Sizemore

Abortion wasn't always controversial. In fact, in colonial America it would have been considered a fairly common practice: a private decision made by women, and aided mostly by midwives. But in the mid-1800s, a small group of physicians set out to change that. Obstetrics was a new field, and they wanted it to be their domain—meaning, the domain of men and medicine. Led by a zealous young doctor named Horatio Storer, they launched a campaign to make abortion illegal in every state, spreading a potent cloud of moral righteousness and racial panic that one historian later called "the physicians' crusade." And so began the century of criminalization. Tornado Watches, Snakes, and the Holy SpiritTornado Watch Context: Hosts record during a tornado watch in Tulsa, Oklahoma, joking about their indifference to watches (less severe than warnings) and the confusing terminology.David humorously claims to become a "seasoned meteorologist" each spring, sensing storms "in his bones" and using terms like "hook echo".Brief tangent on Ralph Nader, who ran for president (circa 2000, Bush vs. Gore) and claimed never to have eaten McDonald's, deemed unbelievable at the time due to McDonald's ubiquity and lack of stigma.Main DiscussionMinihan Household AdventuresPossum Incident: While Adam was away, his wife Haylee killed a possum in their chicken coop with a .44 Magnum (jokingly exaggerated), impressing Adam via text.Snake in the House: Upon returning from a trip, Adam's family found a large snake (not a rat snake, possibly a king snake) in their home.A child's blood-curdling scream alerted Haylee; Adam initially deferred to her but helped after learning of the snake.Snake was fast, striking, and required corralling kids into a closet for safety; Adam trapped it using a box and cardboard, later regretting not feeding it to their seven roosters.Diocesan Rat Snake Story: Adam recalls handling a 5+ foot rat snake at the Diocese of Tulsa early in his job, earning awe from coworkers and a social media post.Nashville Recording MishapsForgotten Suit Pants: At a black-tie event in Nashville with Fr. Mike Schmitz, Matt Walsh, Michael Knowles, and Harrison Butker, David forgot his patterned suit pants, non-replaceable due to the unique design.Father-in-law Dan O'Brien and Jim Spencer overnighted them via UPS, arriving 45 minutes before recording.Equipment Failure: Their recording case's main power supply cord was severed in transit, requiring significant pivoting.David predicted the need to “pivot” before the trip, likening their adaptability to NBA players; the weekend involved constant problem-solving but was ultimately fun.Catholic Radio Station LaunchMcAlester Station: David and Adam helped launch 90.9 FM in McAlester, Oklahoma, a full-power Catholic radio station built on a shoestring budget.Located on parish grounds (no studio costs, using existing internet/power), it reaches McAlester's community, including three correctional facilities (e.g., “Big Mac” maximum security prison).Launched on the Feast of the Ascension (moved to Sunday in Tulsa's mission diocese), aligning with the Great Commission to evangelize.Aims to evangelize incarcerated individuals without the red tape of prison ministry; David gave a speech post-Mass, nearly upstaged by Adam's readiness to intervene.Prayer request for the station's success.Eucharistic Procession in TulsaNational Eucharistic Procession Stop: Tulsa hosted a stop in the nationwide procession, attended by 500–800 people (David's estimate).Counter-evangelists (not protesters) with megaphones followed the procession, slandering the Church; persistent but civil, they lacked goodwill due to rudeness.Police (not necessarily Catholic) found them annoying; hosts advise listeners to prepare for similar disruptions at other stops.Defense of Faith Question: David ponders if modern Christians are too pacifist compared to Crusade-era defense of faith, citing G.K. Chesterton's The Ball and the Cross (an atheist's slander of Mary prompts a Catholic to challenge him to a duel).Asks Adam if the pendulum has swung too far from defending honor; discussion deferred to post-break.Break 1:...

France's King Louis IX led the 7th Crusade. But he broke with established crusader order by starting first in Tunis instead of Cyprus. Why? And what happened in Tunis? I peel back the layers of the seventh Crusade. We explore the great battle between the Mongols and the Muslims, show why Sultan Baybars earned the nickname "the merciless," and talk about the profound political spin that contemporary authors have put upon the Crusades. In the show's opening reflection I recount some of the details of Israel's bombing (and assassinations) of Iran. Why I reject the dominant interpretive Neo-Marxist frame for understanding the Middle East. Then I work through questions like: How do the people of Iran feel about the bombings? Whom did Israel specifically target? We also examine the recent peaceful riots occurring in America's major cities. Is Thailand racist to require immigration visas? Why don't they allow Cambodians and Malaysians to wander across the Thai border? To set up the immigration question I note a FB post I read from one of my former students. And then, to establish a biblical perspective, I note what the Bible has to say about national boundaries and borders. Come think and laugh with me!
The Story returns with an unusual chapter- how a royal wedding, a Eastern European reform movement, an adulterous noble, and a violent teenage girl, conspire, to not only produce a sudden crusade being called by the most powerful man in south London… but also how that crusade ended up being instrumental in causing a sudden royal coronation. A wild tale of London's history…

In today's episode, Ben and special guest author Shaina Steinberg tell the story of Eleanor of Aquitaine who outmaneuvered kings, went on Crusade, survived imprisonment, and spent decades pulling the strings of empires and rebellions alike. She was a medieval power broker, royal schemer, and all-around badass centuries ahead of her time — and she did it all while dodging murder plots, papal judgments, and the world's most dysfunctional family.

Get the rest of the series here. Our journey through the First Crusade starts where the Crusaders themselves did: in western Europe with Pope Urban II and the Council of Clermont. As World War II spiraled toward its violent end, the Nazi obsession with relics, ritual, and redemption reached terrifying new heights. In the final three episodes of our Grail War series, we go deeper into the rituals of Wewelsburg Castle, where SS leaders performed bloodline ceremonies and solstice rites in the shadow of the Black Sun. Beneath the floors, prisoners died constructing the temple. Above, Himmler and his inner circle dreamed of a new religion—one rooted not in salvation, but supremacy. As the Reich collapsed, documents were burned, relics buried, and entire wings of the castle destroyed. But Wewelsburg's most sinister chamber survived. And in the decades that followed, its symbols and myths were reborn—on fringe message boards, in neo-Nazi movements, and in the dark corners of conspiracy culture. Because the most powerful relic… is the one never found.

Long before the Allies stormed Berlin, a different kind of war was already underway—waged not with bullets and tanks, but with relics, runes, and ancient symbols of power. This three-part series unearths the chilling true story of the Nazis' obsession with the occult and their state-sponsored quest for the Holy Grail. At the center of it all was SS leader Heinrich Himmler, who transformed a crumbling medieval ruin—Wewelsburg Castle—into a spiritual fortress and ritual temple for a cult hiding in plain sight. From secret SS expeditions in search of relics to fabricated sacred texts and blood-soaked ceremonies in the castle's north tower, The Devil Within reveals how myth, pseudoscience, and fanaticism merged into something far more dangerous: belief weaponized. And when the war was lost, Wewelsburg didn't die. The Black Sun chamber survived. And the thirteenth pedestal—the one reserved for the Grail—remains empty to this day.
