This podcast discusses the ever-increasing bandwidth, buffer, scale, and security demands caused by industry trends such as hybrid work, next-generation Wi-Fi technology, the increase in Internet of Things (IoT) devices in the network, and greater reliance on cloud services. We will highlight how the newest offering in the Cisco Catalyst 9500 Series—the high-density 25G/50G C9500X-60L4D Switch with 400G uplinks—helps network operators meet present and future demands. This week we begin the review of the Brand New Chaos Daemons Codex! This thing is pretty wild in the way it opperates, it's got that 'we are literally not of this universe' feel to it and makes arriving from reserve (The Warp) a keystone part of the package. Pretty exciting to see where it goes in the meta. Adam was joined by Mark Aescht for the review, Mark is a diehard daemons player, having stuck with them through the good and bad times, racking up two No1 Daemons player in the ITC for 2019 and 2020. We review all the Detachment and Datasheet special rules, plus the Warpstorm table in addition to all that Khorne and Tzeench has to offer!

HI! Welcome to That's So Chronic. It's Tuesday which means it's the best day of the week! Today I'm chatting to Carlyn Reed, and we are talking about her not one, not two, but five diagnoses of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. In this episode Carlyn talks us through her initial diagnosis back when she was just 14 years old, and the subsequent diagnoses that followed. We also discuss the various treatments she has had, including having to find $87,000 at the beginning of 2020 to fund regular infusions on the immunotherapy Keytruda, which Carlyn is currently on. We also chat about hot chips* and have a few laughs along the way! *hot chips = fries for all of our international listeners! If you would like more information about Keytruda, head here: medsafe.govt.nz/profs/Datasheet/k/Keytruda.pdf Thought I would also let you know that CHOC stands for Children's Haematology and Oncology Centre in Christchurch And as always, you can find That's So Chronic on instagram @thatssochronic. Talk Python To Me - Python conversations for passionate developers
In this episode, we'll be discussing two powerful tools for data reporting and exploration: Datasette and Dogsheep. Datasette helps people take data of any shape or size, analyze and explore it, and publish it as an interactive website and accompanying API. Dogsheep is a collection of tools for personal analytics using SQLite and Datasette. Imagine a unified search engine for everything personal in your life such as twitter, photos, google docs, todoist, goodreads, and more, all in once place and outside of cloud companies. On this episode we talk with Simon Willison who created both of these projects. He's also one of the co-creators of Django and we'll discuss some early Django history! When are datasheets accurate and can we rely on them? Ben Jordan is back on the show to discuss datasheets and how to achieve reliability for your use case. We also cover an unusual question from the forum about gilding that you won’t want to miss. Ben always enjoys catching up with the Lounge Forum, and this week, one of our users, Tim Philips, posted a datasheet that he had come across for an inductor. Listen in to explore these topics in this episode of the OnTrack Podcast. Trade In Your Outdated PCB Design Tool & Unlock 45% OFF Altium Designer today! Watch the video, click here. Show Highlights: The question: “I ran into an unusual datasheet from Murata, for a common mode choke and on page 7 it says: ‘Do not use a gilded pattern. The copper wire may cause open by dissolution of metalization’ - question is, what does ‘gilded’ mean? The answer: Gilded means gold plating - solder plated over hard gold just doesn’t work. This is a good example of how crazy datasheets can be, and it’s apparent that this was translated from another language. Lee Ritchey always says: “app notes, should be assumed wrong unless proven right”. This whole question of app notes and whether you can trust them is very important. For example application notes often advise separating the analog and the digital ground, to reduce electrical noise. Which is not necessary. Application notes are often produced by IC Engineers, who have no exposure to field theory and their conservative nature is aimed at the worst case scenario in various industries such as medical, aerospace and automotive where people’s lives are at stake. What’s the solution to unreliable datasheets? That’s where your training comes in. Starting with reference designs is good, but it’s just a starting point, you need to apply your engineering knowledge. You have to speak to applications engineers, who know products and did testing to compile the data–you have to verify. Measuring yourself, there are no shortcuts to actual measurement, you must have a test lab due to the ‘overkill’ of most sheets. Dan Beeker also says: “datasheets may be functional, but could result in higher BOM costs”. Podcast Notes Michael Lyons of Centex Paranormal pays us a visit. Centex Paranormal is based out of Austin, Texas. They design ghost hunting equipment. See Figure 1. New product out, EDI+. Has SD card data logging, humidity, air pressure, and all the data can be graphed onto a computer. Michael is using the BME280 sensor humidity and pressure sensor by Bosch. Datasheet can be found here. The EDI+ runs off of a STM32 ARM MCU where as the original EDI ran off a MSP-430. Michael did not know what he wanted to do in college so he just took some Electrical Engineering classes. He says he got "lucky". Stephen got into electronics when his mother bought him a Gakken ex-150. Parker got into electronics by fixing old Atari consoles. MakerBot releases their 6th generation of 3D printers. The STM32 ARM MCU that Michael Lyons uses on the EDI+ has interesting markings. It has two "pin one indicators" on the package molding but only one is marked in the datasheet's mechanical drawing. See page 75 of the datasheet and Figure 2. Silicon Labs is releasing something on Sept. 28. Parker thinks it might be a "Sensor Bee". Special thanks to whixr over at Tymkrs for the intro mashup!
