Modern Parenting isn't a cake walk. Whether it's a toddler throwing a tantrum in the candy aisle or a teenager's emotional outburst after a heated disagreement, there are moments when every parent feels the urge to react strongly. The urge to escalate comes from a natural place — frustration, fear, or a desire for control. But escalation — yelling or reacting emotionally — rarely leads to a constructive outcome. In fact, it often makes things worse. Yelling doesn't help in parenting, at least not in the long term. While it might grab a child's attention in the moment, it often leads to – fear instead of understanding, emotional distance, poor behavior, or even escalation. So, when such tough parenting moment arise, how to not lose our calm? In today's episode, we will talk about how to handle hard moments with grace and strength.Related topics:Transformational Vocabularyhttps://spotifycreators-web.app.link/e/pfHz6jp9zTbPower of Pausehttps://spotifycreators-web.app.link/e/yR6ZjZpaATbFeel free to reach out to me:Instagram: alpanabapatTwitter: alpana_deoFacebook: MothersGurukulLinkedln: Alpana DeoBlog: www.mothersgurukul.com

The US is risking ceding global market share of clean energy to China, permanently.New tariffs, put in place one day then removed the next. Rising costs for everything along the supply chain. The US clean energy sector is navigating one of its most unpredictable phases yet. From solar to storage, how are developers and policymakers reacting to renewed trade tensions and their impact on the energy transition? “This isn't just about clean energy deployment. It's about whether the US will have a seat at the table in the future global energy economy,” says Leslie Abrahams, Deputy Director of the Energy Security and Climate Change Program at CSIS – the Center for Strategic & International Studies. She joins host Sylvia Leyva Martinez, a principal analyst covering global energy markets at Wood Mackenzie, to find out what the outlook is for US energy innovation. Escalating tariff policy is shaking investor confidence, altering supply chains, and putting the power firmly with China.Plus, in the second half of the show, Sylvia gets the developer perspective, from Joao Barreto, who is CEO of EDP Renewables' distributed generation business in North America. He explains how one of the world's largest clean energy developers is mitigating risk, adjusting their strategy, and building trust with manufacturers and offtakers amid unprecedented uncertainty.Sylvia, Leslie and Joao discuss:Why US$8 billion in clean energy projects were cancelled in Q1 2025, and what that signals to the marketHow US tariffs on Chinese batteries are backfiring on domestic manufacturingThe challenge of accelerating R&D while shutting out foreign investmentHow storage and solar developers are hedging their betsWhether the US risks ceding global market share to China permanentlyPower Play was developed by ExxonMobil to shine a light on the accomplishments of remarkable women and the men who uphold the importance of empowering others in the LNG and decarbonization industries. Many believers in the United States are totally oblivious to religious persecution taking place around the world and really have little concept as to what is taking place. Most believers in the U.S. will get up in the morning, go through their daily activities: work, meals, appointments, leisure and go to bed at night without even a hint of a thought to believers in Christ that are being persecuted. Did you know religious persecution has been escalating in countries around the world? As a matter of fact, many are paying with their very lives on account of their faith. Executions alone in 2024 had a 32% increase compared to 2023. One of the leading persecutors is the CCP, the Chinese Communist Party. This Crosstalk seeks to increase your awareness as to what is going on with believers in China, but also in other countries around the world as well. Jeff King is president of International Christian Concern, an organization that has served the global persecuted church since 1995. Jeff is a leading expert on the matter of religious persecution. He's traveled to more than 70 countries thus gaining extensive knowledge of what is happening to religious freedom. He has a passion for the persecuted. He is author of Islam Uncensored and Last Words of the Martyrs.Concerning China, Jeff noted that leader Xi Jinping is currently in a crackdown phase. This phase includes knocking churches down, tearing down crosses, constant pressure to have churches come under state control, secret arrests, torture, abuse and murder. In spite of all this, the Marxist leaders there simply don't understand that the more you try to stamp out the church, the more it grows.

He critiques the lack of diplomatic efforts, pointing to Russia's consistent demands—such as no NATO expansion and recognition of Crimea—while the U.S. and Europe dismiss them as unreasonable. Maté also examines the political dynamics within the Trump administration, where figures like Marco Rubio advocate for prolonging the war, while others, like JD Vance, push for negotiations. The conversation underscores the human cost of the conflict, including forced conscription in Ukraine, and questions the motives behind Western policies that prioritize confrontation over peace.

Simon Hunt: The Trade War and Tensions with China are Escalating

Tom welcomes back Simon Hunt, an expert on global economics, China, and the copper industry. Hunt discusses the escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran, driven by Trump's tariff policies and geopolitical ambitions. He explains that these tensions could lead to regional conflicts, with significant implications for global markets and supply chains. Hunt also explores the broader shift in global power dynamics, highlighting how nations like China, Russia, and Iran are strengthening ties through organizations like BRICS. He warns that U.S.-China trade disputes, including high tariffs on Chinese goods, are causing severe disruptions to global supply chains and manufacturing sectors. These disruptions are expected to lead to a global economic slowdown or recession. The conversation delves into the potential impact of these developments on financial markets, particularly the value of the dollar, which Hunt suggests may undergo significant changes as countries seek alternative currencies tied to gold. He also discusses copper's role as an economic barometer, predicting price volatility and eventual increases due to supply chain disruptions and long-term demand shifts. Hunt concludes by emphasizing the uncertainty and chaos that dominate the current geopolitical landscape, urging caution for businesses and investors as they navigate this complex environment. The episode ends with a note on the importance of staying informed about global developments to understand their far-reaching implications. In 1961, he came back to London and joined Anglo American Corporation of South Africa as a PA to one of the Board Directors, followed by being part of a small sales and marketing team for copper. From there, he helped start up a new copper development organization, CIDEC, financed by copper producers, which he then joined, focusing on conducting end-use studies of copper in Europe. He then went into the City to gain financial experience and founded Brook Hunt in 1975. He was instrumental in setting up the company's cost studies and end-use analyses. Simon appeared as material witness and consultant in two ITC anti-dumping cases in 1978 and 1984, winning both at the commission level. He has spent 2-4 months every year in China since 1993, and until a few years ago would be visiting some 80 wire and cable and brass mill factories across the country every year. He now restricts these factory visits to a smaller number, all of which he has known for many years. Simon also spends many weeks each year traveling around Asia. The focus of the company's services is on the global economy, including the changing geopolitical and financial structures, China's economy and its copper sector, and then the global copper industry as each part is interconnected. Simon is the author of the "Frontline China Report Service," which is marketed by the TIS Group. The Service provides regular reports on China's economy, politics, and financial outlook. Simon established this company in January 1996.
