got there. made it. dipped front wheel in pacific. back wheel dipped in atlantic when started. packed up bike to ship home. fly out of portland
mckensee pass has big reputation on trans American ride as really hard. west bound climb was only 15 miles for me. east bound riders, you're first major climb and it went on for 70 miles in some degree.
43 of 54 miles uphill to top of ochoco pass or. followed by 78 mile downhill to sisters or. great times
rode in cool shadows of mountains along little salmon river in idaho. 25 mile gradual climb and getting used to the heat.
people want stuff done for them right now even if they caused their own problems
Mel finished 200 mile gravel race, dirty konza, in 18hr!!! Tanny, Caroline and Guy summit mt shasta in california in an 18hr day. met Emma, her Dad and friend walking from wyoming to new mexico. amazing people amazing journeys!
sunny day, light wind, rough road. great day of riding. met the Scotsman in middle of nowhere and saw someone's home from dust bowl
all i was doing was trying to find a place to stay and eat!
chilly 54* start with strong north wind pushing wind chill into upper 40s. me Michael outside cassoday and very special people in newton ks
in eureka ks. met east, florida bound Jim and James, chatted with owner sassy sister in toronto and met wyoming guy just outside eureka. lots of folks to meet in openness of kansas
day off in pittsburgh ks for bike tune up and laundry. pleasant ride on the open roads of kansas
still several climbs and even the flats were uphill
dog ran out from couple of trailers, got right behind me and pulled rear bag off bike, did not get me
out of nowhere, these three wonderful young folks made me extremely happy!
missouri finally flattens out. met three other riders and noisy camp spot at the courthouse
bismark to ellington. headed south right into the 10-15mph wind. steady diet of rolling hills
windy, flat ride. rain delayed start to after 11:00. still got 58m. another road side rescue and fun finding place to stay
adding few more miles little harder than it sounds. tomorrow, if not rained out....illinois!!, drama on the road i witnessed a kidnapping. special day may 17 1986

sevclimbs from buckhorn to booneville ky. then flattened out. big change in how people live. but also met folks not sure how to get started again
still very hilly in kentucky, not ad bad as virginia, but 2-3mph climbs.
