Tea & Squee is a podcast where hosts Alyssa and Guin spill the tea about things that make us squee.
Hi friends, we are finally back from our winter hiatus! To kick off our 2023 podcasting we will be wrapping up A Court of Thorns and Roses. Today we'll be zipping through the last section of the book, we are deep in the go, go, go section of the novel, and have tons of plot points to discuss with you all! We want to remind our listeners that this series coverage is riddled with spoilers so listen at your own risk if you have not read the 1st book of the ACOTAR series. During this end section we get to see Feyre come back to the ruined Spring Court and decide to make her quest Under the Mountain to get Tamlin back. By doing this she meets Amarantha and has to endure three trials or solve a poem to get Tamlin his powers back. We get to see a lot of interesting interactions between Rhysand and Feyre in this section, and at the very end of the novel, Feyre gets a major transformation. In lieu of Zillenial Quiz Taking Time, we decided to do a live reading/solving of riddles to be on theme with this section of the book. Thanks for joining us for the end of A Court of Thorns & Roses! We're very excited to bring you A Court of Mist & Fury in the coming weeks. Stay hot and stay hydrated friends, we'll see you next time! This podcast is edited and produced by Guin & Alyssa. Our cover art is done by Laker Thrasher.
Hi friends, today we are continuing our coverage on A Court of Thorns and Roses, we are covering the middle portion of the book today. We're dealing with some fluffy/romantic content between Tamlin and Feyre, and also we finally get to meet Rhysand! During this middle section we get to see some fae holidays like Calanmai and the Summer Solstice, and the growing connection between Feyre, Lucien, and Tamlin, whether it be friendship or romantic. This section is very middle of the book, and it's evident all this fluff is building up into the dramatic tail-end of the novel that'll be featured in the next part. In lieu of Zillenial Quiz Taking Time, we did a fun little game of Would You Rather? Feel free to participate and let us know via social media what your answers were. Thanks for joining us and listening to us throughout this year! We're very excited for all the ACOTAR and other literary content to come in 2023. This podcast is edited and produced by Guin & Alyssa. Our cover art is done by Laker Thrasher.
Hi friends! We're back from our little hiatus with our annual fall fantasy series coverage, something we started with the Twilight Saga & Movies last year, and we'll be carrying on with the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. In this first part we're covering the first third of the first book, A Court of Thorns & Roses. During this section we lay the groundwork of what the book will be about and our beginning analysis on the characters, themes, and relationship dynamics. All of our analysis will be fleshed out as we continue covering the first book, so stay tuned for future updates. For Zillenial Quiz Taking time we took a really cool quiz that told us Which Archeron Sister We Are! Hi Friends, in light of it being officially spooky season we are back with more StarKid, and for this week's episode we'll be covering another Hachetfield musical: Black Friday. Like in our coverage on The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals, we're going to discuss the general plot of Black Friday with each correlating scene and song. We really love Black Friday and have lots of fun thoughts and feelings on the utter genius of this musical. It's really one of StarKid's best productions, with witty one liners, beautiful, heart wrenching ballads, and some weird ass, campy musical numbers! For our Zillenial Quiz Taking Time we took a quiz where we got to find out which Black Friday Character We Are! Quiz is linked below and feel free to share your results with us via social media: https://uquiz.com/quiz/gJ1ubD/which-black-friday-character-are-youWe hope you all enjoyed our coverage on Black Friday, we'll continue sprinkling in fun StarKid musical episodes intermittently! Hi Friends, we're officially done with our Taylor Swift content, and are back with another episode covering a StarKid musical. This time around we'll be talking about The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals, and it's about to get all weird and musical up in Hachetfield! We do an overview of the plot, going through song by song and giving our overall opinions on the show, like how TGWDLM is one of the best examples of an ensemble based show (honestly most of StarKid's stuff is) and just how amazingly weird and zany the side characters in this show are. This show is beloved by our college theatre friend group and we had so much fun diving back into it all! For our Zillenial Quiz Taking Time we took a quiz where we got to find out which The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals Character we are! Quiz is linked below and feel free to share your results with us over social media: https://uquiz.com/quiz/CmcKih/which-the-guy-who-didnt-like-musicals-starkid-character-are-youWe hope you all enjoyed our coverage on The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals, we'll be back with another StarKid musical episode after our next mini-series! Hello, hello friends! We are back from our hiatus, summer is crazy busy, and Alyssa was out of commission for a couple of weeks. But we are finally back and wrapping up the final episode of our Taylor Swift series. In this episode we briefly cover our feelings on her single, “Carolina,” which was featured in the movie Where the Crawdads Sing. We then discussed the significance of Track 5 on her albums, our favorite Track 5 songs, and the controversy surrounding the 1989 Track 5, All You Had To Do Was Stay. For the remainder of the episode we bring in our English major analytical skills and discuss literary tropes found in Taylor's music like friends to lovers and forbidden love. We wrap up with a ranking of our favorite albums! For this week's Zillenial Quiz Taking Time we took an amazing Buzzfeed quiz that severely called us out: Everyone Has 5 Taylor Swift Songs That Explain Their Personality– What Are Yours? The link is below, feel free to share your results with us: https://www.buzzfeed.com/gracengraham123/what-mix-of-5-taylor-swift-songs-are-you-8txo67lqxxWe hope you enjoyed our mini series on Taylor Swift! We'll be back covering another StarKid musical in the upcoming weeks, and you don't want to miss it. Thanks for joining us friends, we'll see you next time! This podcast is edited and produced by Guin & Alyssa. Our cover art is done by Laker Thrasher.
Hello friends! We're back with more Taylor Swift, and today we'll be talking all about our two favorite albums. This episode is all about Taylor's dreamy and poetic folk era with her sister albums: folklore and evermore. We're literally so excited to be covering these two respective albums! We both have lots to say about what they mean to us, and get real deep with our favorite songs, and general thoughts about folklore and evermore. Unfortunately, we did record this episode before the drop of Taylor's new song: Carolina, which fits the folk Taylor vibe perfectly. But don't fret, we'll give our input in the next episode! For Zillenial Quiz Taking Time we took a really awesome quiz where we got to find out if we were more like folklore or evermore! We'll be linking the quiz below, and feel free to share your results with us via social media: https://uquiz.com/Quiz/Question/zGmqlO/1Thanks for joining us on our coverage of our favorite Taylor era! We'll be back with our last episode in our Taylor series where we'll be discussing her story arcs in her songs, the meaning of track 5's, and so much more. Stay hot, stay hydrated, we'll see you next time, friends! This podcast is edited and produced by Guin & Alyssa. Our cover art is done by Laker Thrasher.
Hello, friends and fellow Swifties! We are back with more Taylor Swift content, and in this episode we will be talking all about Taylor's Pop Era. This spans from albums 1989-Lover, and we'll also be discussing the “Taylor's Over Party” that sparked the album, Reputation. This episode has a similar format to Country Taylor, where we discuss each respective pop album and share our favorite songs, and general feelings. Overall, we agree that pop Taylor has a continuous sound from 1989 to Lover, but also love how Lover is starts to get the poetic lyrics we see in folklore and evermore. For Zillenial Quiz Taking Time, we took two quizzes. One where we got to figure out if we were more like 1989 or Reputation, and the second where we found out if we were more like Lover or Reputation. Both quiz links are below, and feel free to share your results on social media! We'd love to see what pop album you are! https://www.buzzfeed.com/witchyprincess/are-you-more-1989-or-reputation-3b85dceujwhttps://www.buzzfeed.com/bgiven/are-you-more-like-taylor-swifts-lover-or-reputati-5ld73cj409Thanks for joining us on our Pop Taylor coverage, we'll be back soon with our thoughts and feelings on Folk Taylor! Until then, listen to all the Taylor Swift and have a bedroom dance party. This podcast is edited and produced by Guin & Alyssa. Our cover art is done by Laker Thrasher.
Hey friends we are back with part 2 of Country Taylor, in this episode we are talking about Speak Now, Red, and Red Taylor's Version. In this episode we are carrying on our conversation from part 1 of Country Taylor, starting with her complete self-written album, Speak Now. In this album we are still rooted in country but we're starting to see some pop influences in her music! We then talk about Red vs. Red Taylor's Version, and talk about how this was the album that transitioned Taylor from a country artist to more of a pop sound. Like in part 1, we discuss the differences between the old and new versions of the album and how Taylor's Version sounds like the album she wanted to record in the first place. It has more of a pop sound with country influences. For Zillenial Quiz Taking Time, we took a fun quiz where we found out, Which Taylor Swift Speak Now Song Are You? Link is below, and feel free to share results with us over social media! https://www.quotev.com/quiz/13328555/Which-Taylor-Swift-Speak-Now-Song-Are-YouThank you for joining us this week for our coverage on Country Taylor! We'll be back soon to talk about Taylor's Pop Era. This podcast is edited and produced by Guin & Alyssa. Our cover art is done by Laker Thrasher.
Hello friends, we are back from our little hiatus with more Tea & Squee! For the next couple of weeks we will be discussing our favorite musician and pop culture icon: Taylor Swift. Since we'll be discussing her work in chronological order, these first two parts we'll be discussing Country Taylor (the episodes will be posted simultaneously). All in all during this series we'll be talking about Taylor's respective albums, her re-records, how Easter Eggs work, and our general thoughts and feelings on her songs. A kind reminder that art is subjective and we all interpret differently! So in Part One of Country Taylor, we are discussing Taylor's origins as an artist and her original roots in country/pop. We give opinions on her first album titled: Taylor Swift and do the same for Fearless and Fearless Taylor's Version. While covering Taylor's Versions we talk about the major differences between the old version and the new version, and our favorite vault tracks! We'll see you shortly for Part Two of Country Taylor! That episode will be featuring our fun, Zillenial Quiz Taking Time. This podcast is edited and produced by Guin & Alyssa. Our cover art is done by Laker Thrasher.
Hello friends, we're back with more Tea & Squee, and in this episode we'll be wrapping up our coverage on the Bridgerton TV series. We are spilling all the tea season 2 of Bridgerton which focuses on the eldest Bridgerton, Anthony. Tune in to hear all of our thoughts on the antics and absolute messy drama that happened this season! From the little love triangle between the Sharma sisters, Edwina and Kate, & Anthony, to Penelope trying to keep her Lady Whistledown secret from Eloise. This season was packed full of steamy moments that had us on the edge of our seats. For Millennial Quiz Taking Time we took a really fun Buzzfeed quiz where we got to find out if we're more like Kate or Edwina Sharma! The link for the quiz will be posted below: https://www.buzzfeed.com/ishabassi/bridgerton-quiz-kate-sharma-edwina-sharmaThank you for joining us this week for our coverage on Bridgerton! We'll see you soon with some more new content. This podcast is edited and produced by Guin & Alyssa. Our cover art is done by Laker Thrasher.
Hello, dear listeners! We're officially done covering the Twilight Saga and moving on to a series that we like to say is the perfect combination of Pride and Prejudice and Gossip Girl. This episode we are discussing the first season of the Netflix hit show: Bridgerton! We'll be covering the second season after it drops, but for now we are spilling all the tea on Bridgerton. In true Tea & Squee style we're discussing our favorite moments & characters (we're both extremely fond of the second oldest Bridgerton, Benedict). We talk about how Simon & Daphne needed more of a slow burn, the major redemption arc Anthony will need for season 2, and how fabulous Lady Danbury is. For Zillenial Quiz Taking Time we decided on a quiz asking us: Which Bridgerton Matches Your Personality? You can find the quiz at the link below: https://www.buzzfeed.com/jamiejirak1/which-bridgerton-matches-your-personality?fbclid=IwAR0_rgYVyEYf2Aco1x4biwTwMMAVQfubp2SJYtVSP7bD9nbMFmxUa_imGPcThank you for joining us this week and back to our regularly scheduled podcasting post-Twilight! We have lots of exciting content to cover in the future, and we'll see you in two weeks with more tea on the second season of Bridgerton. This podcast is edited and produced by Guin & Alyssa. Our cover art is done by Laker Thrasher.
Hello, hello friends we're back with our FINAL episode covering the Twilight Saga! We're once again joined by our dear friend Allie to spill the tea on parts 1 and 2 of the Breaking Dawn movies. This has been four months of total chaos, but we're so thrilled to finally be concluding our coverage on the Twilight Saga (and for Alyssa to stop having dreams about Twilight). In this episode we're comparing the differences between the books vs. the films, but something we noticed with Breaking Dawn, is that the movies are pretty much in sync with the books. Well…except for the final battle scene in Breaking Dawn part 2, but we go into depth on how that scene shocked the pants off of people. We also talk about the horrifying CGI baby Regurgitation (Renesmee) had and different ways that could've been solved. But we are squeeing with delight over all the cute fluff going on in Breaking Dawn Part 1, from the gorgeous wedding to the absolute beauty of “honeymoon Edward.” For Zillenial Quiz Taking Time we took a fun quiz where we got to figure out: Which Twilight Movie Soundtrack Best Represents Our Life? Link below: https://www.buzzfeed.com/madaleigh/which-twilight-soundtrack-is-actually-the-soundt-c9ka7bjzrj?fbclid=IwAR1zLgntRl4Bk28kG8vUNFp5oAE0ByUgVvMTVVMWoGbr1wfNgKQBTuPMVSgThank you so much for joining us throughout our coverage of the Twilight Saga, it's been a fun and chaotic ride! We'll be back in two weeks with a brand new topic to spill the tea and squee about. Until then, see you all next time! This podcast is produced and edited by Guin and Alyssa. Our cover art is done by Laker Thrasher.
Hello, hello chaos kingdom we're back with another episode of Tea & Squee! We're wrapping up the second part of our coverage on the Breaking Dawn book, and once again we're joined by our good friend Allie. Get ready for lots of chaos as we start to bring our Twilight coverage to a close! In this episode we're discussing the end of Breaking Dawn and we're back with our girl Bella, but this time she's finally a vampire! We enjoyed seeing Bella adjusting to her new life as a vampire, the horrifying creature that is her daughter Resume (Renesmee), and how all the jigsaw pieces come together at the end of the novel. However, we felt the need to comment on our disappointment with Bella's very controlled newborn vampire tendencies and the gross dynamic between Jacob and Regurgitation (Renesmee). We also discussed our favorite books and moments throughout the whole saga! We're back with Zillenial Quiz Taking Time and for this episode we took a fun BuzzFeed quiz where we got to figure out Which Twilight Book Are You? (Link below) https://www.buzzfeed.com/thecoldone_7/you-know-which-twilight-character-you-are-but-whi-5619qltq1z?fbclid=IwAR18_rjsQVLwLiDQckswhsb3i4-6PmtWfgPkUqRPt25fV0N8PbPE0iMl_xcWe'll be closing out our coverage on the Twilight Saga in the next episode where we'll be discussing the Breaking Dawn movies! Hello friends, we have a very special episode of Tea & Squee for you! We're covering the first half of Breaking Dawn in this episode, but more importantly we have our very first guest on the show. This week we're welcoming our good friend Allie from undergrad to help us spill the tea on Breaking Dawn. This episode is full of absolute chaos, so you better hold on tight spidermonkey! In this episode we're covering books 1 and 2 in the final book of the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. We get both Bella and Jacob's perspectives in this novel and we have so many opinions on it! Starting off we discuss Bella's sudden desire for motherhood, how Alice is Bella's biggest wing-woman in her journey to getting with Edward, and how Jacob is a surprisingly decent narrator. We'll be back next week with part 2 of the Breaking Dawn book, and Allie will be joining us for that coverage as well! Friends, we're almost done covering the Twilight Saga and it's only going to get more chaotic from here on out. But we'll see you next time in our lovely chaos kingdom! This podcast is produced and edited by Guin and Alyssa. Our cover art is done by Laker Thrasher.
Hello friends, welcome back to our final little coverage on Eclipse! We're talking about the movie before we move onto Breaking Dawn. But before you listen to this episode we have two things we want to warn you about, firstly there was a little hiccup with Guin's audio when recording so it might be a little off. Secondly, we want to once again reissue the trigger warning as this episode does mention sexual assault and unfortunately due to it being a major part of the plot, we feel it's necessary to talk about it. If this triggers you in any way please feel free to skip this episode and our next episode covering the first part of the Breaking Dawn book! Before we get into the coverage of this episode we want to include the link to the Quileute's Move to Higher Ground mission: https://mthg.org/ Their goal is to raise enough money to move the tribe out of a tsunami zone and into a safer location. This episode is truly chaotic and we're bouncing all over the board, but we have a very important discussion on what we think the Cullen's smell like vs. what Emily and Sam's house smells like. We also talk about how the vibe of this movie is very different from the other Twilight movies and why we think that, the atrocity of the wigs in this movie, and how Edward is significantly more horny in the movie compared to the book. For Zillenial Quiz Taking Time we took a fun little BuzzFeed quiz about whether we're a vampire, werewolf, or human. Link below: https://www.buzzfeed.com/zacmoz/are-you-a-vampire-werewolf-or-a-human-bxfx1jt0n1Thanks for joining us for our coverage on Eclipse! We'll be back soon with the first part of the Breaking Dawn book. This podcast is produced and edited by Guin and Alyssa. Our cover art is done by Laker Thrasher.
Hello, hello friends! We are back with more shenanigans and Part 2 of our coverage on the Eclipse book. Before you listen to this episode we'd like to reissue our trigger warning as this episode does mention sexual assault and unfortunately due to it being a major part of the plot, we feel it's necessary to talk about it. If this triggers you in any way please feel free to skip this episode and our next episode covering the Eclipse movie, and we'll see you when we talk about Breaking Dawn! In addition to that before we get into the coverage of this episode we want to include the link to the Quileute's Move to Higher Ground mission: https://mthg.org/ Their goal is to raise enough money to move the tribe out of a tsunami zone and into a safer location. This episode is a wild and critical ride and once again we're discussing our many issues with Jacob as a character, our favorite soft Edward and Bella moments in the novel, and other fun Tea and Squee things like our favorite characters and moments. We're also back with Zillennial Quiz taking time this week with a fun one from Buzzfeed that'll help you figure out whether your Team Edward or Team Jacob. Link: https://www.buzzfeed.com/jennaguillaume/is-your-soul-mate-actually-edward-cullen-or-jacob-black Thanks for joining us this week in our chaos kingdom! We'll be back next time with our coverage on the Eclipse movie. This podcast is produced and edited by Guin and Alyssa. Our cover art is done by Laker Thrasher.
Hello friends! We're so excited to be back after our holiday hiatus with more Twilight content for you all, in this episode we will be covering the first half of Eclipse. Before you listen to this episode we do want to address that this episode and the next two will have mentions of sexual assault and grooming. We are issuing a Trigger Warning for these episodes because unfortunately these sensitive topics are deeply embedded in the plot. If you find these triggering in any way, skip this episode and the next two, and we'll see you next time!Eclipse is a pretty heavy book and our approach on this episode is a bit more critical in a literary way than in previous episodes. We talk a lot about Edward and Bella's shifting relationship dynamic, Bella as a character and how she has to fight so hard to be heard, and Charlie's fall from being a 10/10 dad to not prioritizing his daughter. We have some squee moments as well, like the addition of the most perfect and sweet character: Seth Clearwater and our undying love for Rosalie. In this episode we talk about Stephanie Meyer's cultural appropriation of the Quileute Tribe's stories and her depiction of the tribe itself throughout the series. So for the rest of our coverage on the Twilight Saga we will be including this link in our episode descriptions: https://mthg.org/ It's for the Quileute Move to Higher Ground, their mission is to move the tribe out of a tsunami zone and into a safer location. You can donate via the link! Once again, thank you for joining us for this week's episode! We've missed you so much and are excited for more episodes to come. We will be back with Part 2 of our Eclipse book coverage soon. This podcast is produced and edited by Guin and Alyssa. Our cover art is done by Laker Thrasher.
Hello, hello friends! Welcome back to our chaos kingdom, this week we're concluding our New Moon section of the Twilight saga with the movie. We're sure you all will appreciate this episode isn't as lengthy as the previous ones. We are spilling all the tea about the major plot differences between the movie and the book, why we enjoy some aspects of the movie more than the book, and our hot takes on acting choices throughout the film. Watch along with us and find out why New Moon makes a prime comfort movie! This week for Zillenial Quiz Time we took a wonderful quiz from BuzzFeed where we find out, "Based on Your Internet Habits, Which Member of the Volturi are You?" Link is below and let us know if you're Aro, Marcus, or Caius: https://www.buzzfeed.com/princesscyan/what-volturi-leader-are-you-based-on-your-internet-3man6?fbclid=IwAR1OrejDcz6bxsJC8kKc2OzWnTB9fNZ6YfhzIK1ceYQV9tjgOq53QfynNsYThanks for joining us this week, we'll be back after the holidays with the first part of the Eclipse book! Hello friends we're back a week early with part two of the New Moon book episode! This one is equally as long as the first but we're wrapping up the plot synopsis in this episode along with our other fun Tea & Squee content. We're really entering the climax of the book in this episode, and it's very dramatic. But we're also spilling the tea on Edward's questionable decision making skills, Jacob being a major asshole, how Aro is the gossip king we all need in our lives, and how Edward and Bella should've waited a hot second before getting back together. There's a delightful quiz for Zillenial Quiz Taking Time! In this episode we are finding out Which Twilight Saga Wolf Pack Member we'd be, link below: https://openbooksociety.com/fun-stuff/quizzes/twilight-saga-wolf-pack-member/?fbclid=IwAR2ClcYxN4EgfK8a--WwE3XLIhPJNjAT9fUGcZAXtE8meh9jjICV_0EXgHkThanks so much for tuning into our chaos kingdom! Hello friends, welcome back to Tea & Squee! We are continuing through reading and watching the Twilight Saga and in this episode we are covering the book, New Moon. Due to New Moon's massive plot this episode will be split into two parts, the next episode will be posted next Sunday. But in this first part we're covering the first two Acts of the book and we have so much to say about Stephanie Meyer's literary devices, Edward and Jacob being twats for most of the book, Charlie being the ultimate dad, and our hot take on Bella's character development. We'll have our good ol' Zillenial Quiz Time, Ship Talk, and so many more Tea & Squee moments in the next part of our coverage on New Moon. See you all next time!
Hello, hello friends! We are very excited about this week's episode covering the first Twilight movie, which is in tandem with our coverage on the first book. You'll be thrilled to hear we don't spend an hour discussing the plot in this episode. But we are spilling the tea on the major differences between the movie and the book! Like how there's a night and day difference between the book meadow scene vs. the movie one, and the lack of any conversation between Bella and Edward. However, we are squeeing and swooning over all of Carlisle's entrances. For our Zillenial Quiz Taking Time we took a lovely quiz telling us to build a playlist to find out which Twilight Character would be our bff. Link is below: https://www.buzzfeed.com/twilight2008/create-a-pop-playlist-well-tell-you-what-twilig-csan4ywnct?fbclid=IwAR3p3hi7FwNA2ymm7pMAFV1jm5NjoY5pXuEHpDWlEYug-RoPxKT9xVFZuiQThanks for tuning in friends, we'll be covering the book, New Moon in the next episode! We'll be covering the rest of the Twilight Saga in episodes to come, and then discussing the movies based on the franchise. It's another long episode, but we have SO much to say about the first book. In this episode we spill the tea on all things Twilight, like Renee's questionable parenting skills, Bella and Edward's insta-love relationship, and how Carlisle is the true Zaddy of the Twilight Saga. We'll be having a Twilight themed quiz for each episode but for this first one we get to find out which Cullen matches our personality, see the link below! https://www.buzzfeed.com/sadys/which-cullen-are-you-like-dopu1ggcjkThanks so much for tuning in! Hi friends, welcome back to Tea & Squee! This week we are squeeing about a brand new musical called Starry, where we follow Theo and Vincent Van Gogh through their creative endeavors and how they find true expression. It's based off of the letters between the Van Gogh brothers! It's hard for us to stop squeeing about this musical, it has a lush contemporary pop/rock score, a beautiful message about love and perseverance, and a stellar cast. The musical is still in development but we already consider it one of our favorite shows! Seriously, go give it a listen, you can find the full concept album on Spotify. If you want to find out which Starry character you are, follow the quiz link below: https://uquiz.com/quiz/jvAIZK?p=668663Thanks for tuning in friends, we'll see you next time!
