Well, if you ever wanted to hear a 2-hour-ish rumination on the confusing and contradictory sexual politics of THE TWILIGHT SAGA, you're in luck. How does this series feel like an obvious metaphor for Christian purity culture while also having no sense of its own metaphorical resonance? What does Renesmee's “miraculous” conception say about the films' attitudes towards sex? Is it possible to tell a compelling story about a human-vampire romance if that story is solely in service to a stereotypical “happily-ever-after”? It's a minefield! At least the Volturi are fun. Well, it's finally happened. Not only have we reached the conclusion of the Twilight Saga (and what a saga it's been!) but we have also reached the exact halfway point of Robert Pattinson's filmography. Or we will have, once we get through this film, which seems to mostly consist of a creepy little girl touching people's faces. There's also a fight scene that lasts for maybe 40 minutes and you will simply not believe how little of that 40 minutes is actually relevant to the plot.Plus, Harry is baffled by how the Volturi functions, Stacey gets genuinely quite angry at Stephenie Meyer, and we just can't work out what Jacob is still doing in these films.Don't forget to subscribe to Poster Boys, and leave us a comment and rating!Keen to see our beautiful faces? Where the hell have you BEEN, loca? Welcome back for the second movie in the Twilight Saga. We talk all about New Moon. It's not often that you can witness a movie that is almost entirely table setting for something bigger while also having almost no plot of its own. Either way, grab your recently restored dirt bike, head off to the cliffs by La Push and roll up in your local gang of Never Nudes because we're talking about the franchise that gave us weirdo sparkling vampires, now giving us weirdo werewolves. Oh. And also they mention the Volturi but you don't really gotta worry about them for a while.

WELL WE MADE IT TO THE END OF THE BOOKS! LOOK AT US! From the Volturi non-fight to Alice's triumphant return and to their happily ever after, we arrive at the conclusion of a journey of years. But don't worry! We still have two more movies to get to!
On this penultimate episode of the book (That's right! Next episode will be the final three chapters!) Bella picks up some important paperwork from our boy J, and then THE GIRLIES ARE HERE. The Volturi are giving us everything, Caius is a little bitch and the guard dogs are out. Mostly they just talk though but Aro is thriving.
This week! We think we're going to get a conversation with Carlisle, but turns out he has to go so it's just more of Edward telling stories. We get our first mention of the Volturi in Carlisle's backstory and then, everyone goes to play baseball.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/passages-with-robbie-and-amanda--6153882/support.

Ben and Judah are back with another Twilight movie! Wait, a Twilight episode? They've never done that before... Yes they HAVE stupid! 48 weeks ago! Don't you remember?? This is still relevant! Seriously though Ben and Judah are Team Edward and NOT Team Jacob. Eclipse is the best Twilight movie, based off of the book by Stephenie Meyer. A string of killings in Seattle leave Bella worried about whether Victoria is out for revenge. Not to mention the mounting pressure to become a vampire and spend the rest of her life with Edward. But, oh no! Jacob is there too and a werewolf and he's also a big creep! And the Volturi too? What's gonna happen??? Come watch along with this movie review. Also, if you watch on Youtube there's a funny gag that Judah does throughout the episode! Wow! Come watch along with us, in this teen dream vampire werewolf romance. Two Nerds finish up their re-watch of the Twilight Saga movies with Breaking Dawn. The filmmakers split the fourth and final book in the series into two films, so we decided to put them back together in this podcat. Which ended up making a super-sized episode, because we definitely have some things to say. Breaking Dawn has some of the most memorable scenes from the series, both good and bad. The pregnancy and childbirth are wheels-off bonkers, but everything involving the Volturi and Michael Sheen is an utter delight.

Joining in the bonds of holy matrimony isn't enough for Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, oh no. Their honeymoon turns serious when Bella learns she's somehow pregnant (spoiler alert: it's Edward's). After baby Renesmee is born, Edward finally turns Bella into a vampire, supercharging her power: she is now more boring than humanly possible. The Volturi get wind of a forbidden hybrid baby. Jacob swears to protect Bella and the kid but proves fairly useless, so thank goodness for Alice's precognition and preternatural planning skills. Hear us discuss… You really were just going to let Charlie think you had died, Bella? Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and Thrasher, and Alex Miller discuss Breaking Dawn Part 2, the fifth and final film in the Twilight Saga as of this recording. Starring Billy Burke, Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart. Old vampires fight new vampires and some of them laugh silly and some of them can make leaves float. Showing a momentum much of the series lacked, Breaking Dawn Part 2 shows the ancient Volturi planning an assault against the Cullens and their friends in order to get their hands on Bella and Edward's human-vampire hybrid child. There's some fun and absurdity at the start, and even a nice battle scene with notes of Lord of the Rings near the end. A bit long in the tooth, but so is the whole Twilight franchise. Hey, fam! On this week's episode, we continue to marvel at how the plot is finally coming together, with only 30% of the book left. Quick head's up-- Bella still isn't psychic, Alice's visions still don't make any sense, the Volturi are back like they never left, and we are still bamboozled by all of this. So it's ALMOST like the first 70% of Breaking Dawn didn't even happen. Almost. WE'RE NOMINATED FOR BEST OF MADISON! If you enjoy the podcast, we'd appreciate if you could vote for us as Best Local Podcast here: https://www.channel3000.com/best-of-madison-2022/The Volturi are the lawmaking and enforcing body in Meyer's vampire world. In many ways, they ensure that vampires stay safe and out of sight from humans. But concurrent with protection, they also keep a strict reign over vampires worldwide–locking down on ancient rules that the Cullens constantly have to question as their family evolves. We dive down the rabbit hole and question the necessity of vampire policing.
Well fam, apparently there are still a few more chapters to Eclipse left. To what end? Very unclear to us. But here are some highlights of discussion from this chapter: The Volturi is the IRS but with murder Vampire bodies still make no sense??? Do they have organs?? Melissa pulls a Bella and thinks everything's about sex (even tho it's also not NOT about sex…) We have conclusive evidence that even Carlisle hates Jasper Email us about whatever we said in the episode at twilightphasepodcast@gmail.com.
