Here at TMIM, we believe in being vulnerable, especially about mental illness. Host Allie Mast digs deep into her own history of mental illness, and also shares education, support and personal stories in order to build transparency and community for those

It's time to get honest with yourself. Many of us desire personal growth and change, but the truth is you can't get there without at first naming the problem. This is 0% about shaming yourself, and 100% about loving yourself and desiring the best for you and the people around you. Let's dig in together! Don't forget to leave us a 5 star rating and review on Apple Podcasts! This helps other amazing people find the show
I laugh. I cry. I share more than I'm comfortable with. Because I know that vulnerability is necessary for freedom and liberation. Both for me and for you. Limiting Beliefs. Whether you're aware or not, limiting beliefs play a role in your life. Maybe you've worked through a lot of them and they no longer dictate your life. Maybe you've never heard of the term and you're annoyed by another "woo woo" psychology term that you have no interest in understanding. Spoiler alert, whether you're aware of them or not, whether you ACKNOWLEDGE them or not....they're still there. But they don't have to greatly impact your life and your choices! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/allie-mast/support
Much of my life for the past 10 years has been picking myself up out of very dark holes. I've had a handful of pretty intense breakdowns that had long recovery times. For the first time in my adult life....I'm doing okay. And I feel like I'm going to be okay for a while. So what is my purpose if it isn't to pick myself up out of the trenches? Let's talk about it! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/allie-mast/support
As someone who has OCD, my brain is not *typical*. In fact, having OCD means that I am nuerodivergent. We will talk more about what that means, as well as what I call "mental paralysis" (which I realize has a different meaning that how I use it...I just haven't found better words to describe my experience). --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/allie-mast/support
Depression can be a little sneaky. And sometimes, the overwhelm of GOOD situations, still leaves you feeling depressed and anxious? So what does this mean?? (Spoiler Alert: it does NOT mean you're selfish) --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/allie-mast/support
Oof. This one's a toughy. I've lived with mental illness since early childhood, but wasn't diagnosed with my causing illness until just a few years ago. If you struggled with your mental health growing up, I hope you find solace in this episode. If you're a parent, I hope this encourages you to take your child's mental health seriously, on par with their physical health. As always, I'm so honored that you take the time to listen to this podcast that means SO FREAKING much to me. You're the best
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person in the world to have inappropriate guilt. In fact I'm 1,000,000% sure I'm not the only one. Underlying guilt is all too common, especially in the US Mom Culture. In this episode I get super candid about when my underlying guilt started, how it affects my life, and what we can all do to limit the affect underlying guilt has on us! I think we can all relate to the term 'survival mode'. Especially as we reflect on 2020, and exist in 2020 part 2....I would guess MOST of us have experienced some level of survival mode in the last year. Now, no one wants to stay there forever. But how long is too long to be in survival mode? And what is the alternative? (And is there just one??) So many questions, and some answers can be found in this episode. 2020 kicked my butt in so many ways, and being 22 weeks pregnant sure doesn't make it any easier. But we're in this together, k? K
In this episode, I wanted to share a very raw update. My purpose is to help those who are in or have been in very dark places to know they are not alone. And to help support people better understand what it's like to walk through something like this. This was recorded in December and my circumstances have changed for the better since then. But at the time of recording, I did not know what the future held. CW: mental illness, physical disability, fatphobia I'm just gonna leave this little nugget from today's episode... We allllll have an inner thought life. And we may think we're well aware of it, because, well, we're the only one experiencing it literally all day every day. But during a specific therapy session that I will share about, I realized that my thoughts were filled with judging myself. And if you didn't know, constantly judging yourself does not foster a safe space for growth and understanding. So let's talk about what we can do instead!
