In this week's 5 Tips episode, I challenge five common pieces of relationship advice that I don't see the same way anymore. Some have been passed down for generations, while others have exploded on social media in recent years. From "love conquers all" to "Time heals all wounds," I share why I think some of our most accepted relationship beliefs deserve a second look. Sometimes healing isn't just about moving on from a relationship. It's about unlearning the ideas that shaped how we viewed love in the first place. - - - - - - - - Want that chapter checklist just Click Here! Jim Robinson opens up about the hardest lesson he ever had to unlearn as a leader: trading control for leading with empathy. In this episode of Visionary Leader, Jim sits down with co-host Lori Prust to unpack how his leadership style shifted from "driven and direct" to intentional, empathetic, and inspirational — and why that shift changed everything from employee retention to his own marriage. They also celebrate Leading with Empathy hitting #1 on Amazon's bestseller list.⏱️ CHAPTERS0:00 – Introduction0:47 – Jim's early leadership style: "Be, Do, Have"1:39 – Learning to lead instead of just doing2:24 – Leading with Empathy hits #1 on Amazon3:21 – Discovering an inspirational leadership style5:20 – Why tenured employees stay for decades6:19 – Learning empathy through hardship and homelessness9:43 – Being direct without being demeaning11:09 – Reframing "triggers" — whose responsibility are they?13:23 – What good leadership looks like if you don't feel like "the leader"16:07 – Self-awareness, obligation, and a wake-up call from his wife Christy 21:51 – Signals your leadership is failing — and asking permission to lead24:45 – The Condoleezza Rice story27:04 – Advice for leading in a toxic culture32:00 – Key takeaway: give freely, lead with trust
When's the last time you actually looked at your bank account without cringing? Amanda Goetz sits down with Haley Sacks (a.k.a. Mrs. Dow Jones), the internet's favorite financial expert, New York Times best-selling author of Future Rich Person: The New Rules for Building Wealth, and the woman behind the over two-million-strong community Mrs. Dow Jones. Haley built her entire brand on making money feel less shameful and way more accessible. And in this conversation, she gets into exactly how she did it (and how you can too). They cover why most of us were never actually taught how to manage money (spoiler: it's not your fault), why "deprivation" is the worst financial advice, the money beliefs we absorb before we even turn seven (!!), and why looking rich and being financially powerful are two very different games. Haley also gets real about her own money trauma, her parents' complicated relationship to wealth, and the "aha money moment" that changed everything for her. Key Takeaways: People can inherit money, but nobody inherits financial literacy, which means anyone can build it from zero. There's a floor to how much you can cut from your spending, but there's no ceiling to how much you can earn. Money dates are Haley's monthly ritual of sitting down with her finances—credit card statements, invoices, upcoming spending—and it's how she stays in control. Money is a relationship like any other—and you can't grow it if you avoid it. If you never actually sit down with your finances, don't expect it to get stronger. A “future rich person” has control over their time, their relationships, their choices, and their ability to leave situations that no longer serve them.Timestamps: [00:00] Intro [04:50] The origin story of Mrs. Dow Jones [06:09] The messages girls absorb about money growing up [08:08] Frictionless finance and doom-spending [11:09] Growing up with a "Wall Street father" [15:23] Why women still feel embarrassed talking about money [18:25] Looking rich vs. being financially powerful [20:12] What is financial helplessness [22:21] Haley's monthly "money date" and the 50/30/20 rule she swears by [25:08] Why negotiating is the most underrated money move [28:14] Where women unknowingly give away their financial power [30:13] What to do if you feel like you're behind financially [31:45] Rapid fire questions [36:48] What "future rich person" really means to Haley GUEST LINKS Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mrsdowjones/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@mrsdowjones Website: https://www.mrsdowjones.com/ Book: https://bookshop.org/a/116169/9798217090907 FOLLOW THE PODCAST IG: https://www.instagram.com/girlboss/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@girlboss Amanda Goetz: https://www.instagram.com/theamandagoetz/ https://girlboss.com/pages/ambition-2-0-podcast SIGN UP Subscribe to the Girlboss Daily newsletter: https://newsletter.girlboss.com/ For all other Girlboss links: https://linkin.bio/girlboss/ ABOUT AMBITION 2.0 Powered by Girlboss, Ambition 2.0 is a podcast where we'll be exploring what it really means to "have it all" in work, family, identity, and self… and if it's actually worth it. What if chronic pain is not something you have to manage forever, but something your brain and body can actually unlearn? In this powerful episode of the Stop Chasing Pain Podcast, Dr. Perry sits down with Dr. Howard Schubiner to discuss his new book, Unlearn Your Pain: The Science of Recovering from Chronic Pain, Fatigue, Anxiety and Depression. They explore how chronic pain can be driven by learned neural pathways, nervous system sensitization, stress, emotion, and the brain-body connection, not always by damaged tissue. Dr. Schubiner shares a science-based, compassionate approach to helping people understand their symptoms differently, calm the threat response, and begin creating the conditions for real recovery. If you or someone you love feels trapped in a cycle of pain, inflammation, fatigue, or fear of movement, this conversation will open a new door. It is a reminder that healing begins when we stop only chasing symptoms and start asking better questions about the nervous system, the brain, and the story the body has learned to protect you with. Send us Fan MailWhat if confidence didn't disappear… it just got buried? Not in one big moment. But in the little ones. The missed shot. The awkward silence. The “be careful.”The pressure to get it right. And suddenly the fearless kid who used to cannonball into life became the adult who second-guesses everything.Sound familiar? In this solo episode, Alex unpacks the quiet way confidence gets unlearned. Not because you're broken. Not because you failed. But because somewhere along the way, your brain started turning experiences into evidence.Evidence that you should play smaller.Stay safer.Try less. But what if that story isn't true?Through the lens of childhood, parenting, and neuroscience, Alex explores how your beliefs were shaped long before you knew they were there. Because the brain is always wiring for safety, belonging, and survival. And sometimes that wiring can make you forget who you were before the world told you who to be. So here's the real question:When did you stop trying again without making it mean something about you?And what parts of you are still waiting to come back online?Maybe confidence isn't something you build.Maybe it's something you remember.
Everyone inherited financial wisdom from somewhere -- a parent who clipped coupons at three different grocery stores, a first job, a financial guru, or just the culture you grew up in. Some of those beliefs serve you. Some of them quietly hold you back. There are so many things I had to unlearn to become who I am today. One of the biggest was believing that life is always fair and that people will always act with kindness and integrity. I grew up seeing the world through a lens of innocence, but adulthood showed me that fairness is subjective and everyone operates from their own perspective.I also had to unlearn that everyone will like you, that putting yourself first is selfish, and that everything you were raised with has to define your future. These shifts didn't come easily, but they created something better: clarity, boundaries, and self-trust.If this resonated with you, leave a review on Spotify or Apple Podcasts, or share in the comments what you've had to unlearn in your own life.

What does it take for Canadian leaders to not just survive, but shape the AI revolution? In this episode of Shift, tech journalist, bestselling author, and entrepreneur Amber Mac joins the conversation to unpack why digital literacy is no longer optional — it's a leadership imperative. From dismantling the myth that AI is "only for the smartest people in the room" to exploring Canada's unique position in global AI innovation, Amber delivers a candid look at the risks of falling behind and the rewards of going first. We dig into the barriers holding Canadian businesses back — risk aversion, regulation, and capital — and why telling stories of transformation matters now more than ever. Plus: how a purpose-driven, human-centric approach to AI can redefine industries like healthcare, and why the leaders who master the art of learning, unlearning, and relearning will define the next decade. A must-listen for executives, innovators, and anyone who wants to stop fearing AI — and start leading with it.

Proverbs has a lot to say about our speech habits (our tongue, mouth, lips). Most of us learn habits of speech that we have to unlearn and replace if we are going to grow into the Godly Wisdom that Proverbs invites us into. Three habits in particular include airing our opinions, lying, and gossip. It is one thing to try and stop doing those things, but replacing those habits with healthier habits will help us begin to truly experience transformation.
Does Han Feizi's focus on “standards” allow him to provide a more realistic political theory than the Confucian focus on moral cultivation?

UNLEARN isn't about fixing yourself. It's about freeing yourself. It's about meeting your life with honesty and realizing that even in the messy, uncertain, uncomfortable seasons, you may not be broken at all; you may simply be remembering who you are.In this conversation, led by my close brother Adam Schell, I share the deeply personal process behind my first book, UNLEARN: Letting Go Of Who You Never Were To Become Everything You Already Are, and the emotional and relational repercussions of placing impossible expectations on myself and chasing external success in order to feel worthy. I share what it looked like to peel back the identities, patterns, and beliefs I didn't even realize I was carrying — and what happened when the life I had built stopped making sense.Watch This Episode on YouTubeConnect with Cal:UNLEARN BookInstagramFacebookYouTubeWebsiteCheck out all of the amazing discounts from our Sponsors

Nobody talks about their first termination the way they should, which is with a little bit of trauma, because we never forget the people we have to let go of. In this latest episode of I Hate It Here, I sat down with Jennifer Laurie, fractional CPO and founder of Equitable HR Guild, to do exactly that! We went all the way back to her very first termination…the nerves, the Googling "how to fire someone," the manager who was just as lost as she was, and then kept going. We got into where managers go horribly wrong before they even get to the termination convo, how bias creeps into these decisions in ways that are really easy to miss, and why the debrief after is the part everyone skips but absolutely shouldn't. Episode Title: Artificial Organizations Host: Shawn Flynn Guest: Barry O'Reilly – Co-Founder of Nobody Studios, Author, and Executive Coach Episode Summary In this episode of The Silicon Valley Podcast, host Shawn Flynn sits down with Barry O'Reilly to discuss a fundamental shift in the corporate world: the transition from "doing more" to "deciding better." As AI dominates boardrooms, many leaders find themselves overwhelmed by data but starved for clarity. Barry explains why the real ROI of AI isn't found in software, but in a leader's ability to synthesize information and increase "decision velocity." We dive into Barry's 5–15–30 AI Leadership Roadmap and explore the uncomfortable truth that the AI revolution isn't actually about the technology—it's about the person leading it. Key Discussion Points Thinking Clearly in the Age of Distraction: The first step for overwhelmed executives to regain their focus and sharpen their decision-making. The AI Culture Trap: How to accelerate AI adoption without breaking the foundational trust of your team or compromising company culture. Human vs. Machine: Identifying which leadership tasks must remain strictly human and which areas of business we should step back from to let the machine lead. Decision Velocity & Advantage: Understanding the compounding effect these forces have on a company's bottom line. Data vs. Synthesis: Why modern leadership is no longer about gathering more data, but about the failure to synthesize what we already have. The "Shelf Life" of Ideas: How long until today's AI strategies become 50% or 90% outdated? The 5–15–30 Roadmap: A breakdown of leadership priorities at three critical milestones of AI integration. The Uncomfortable Truth: Why the shift toward AI is ultimately about the leader's personal evolution, not the tools they buy. Notable Quotes "The real shift isn't about adopting new tools, but about changing how leaders make decisions." "If you removed your entire AI stack tomorrow, what remains tells you everything about your true effectiveness as a leader." Sometimes a great idea doesn't come from thinking harder — but from shifting your body. Research suggests that posture can influence how creatively and flexibly you think, meaning the position you're in during a brainstorming session could actually affect whether you have that “Eureka!” moment. Listen to how that works as we open this episode. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27992759 It feels like everyone has allergies these days. But do they really? And what exactly qualifies as an allergy in the first place? Dr. Zachary Rubin, a double board-certified pediatrician and allergist/immunologist in the Chicago area and author of All About Allergies: Everything You Need to Know About Asthma, Food Allergies, Hay Fever, and More (https://amzn.to/401KdW5) explains why allergies appear to be on the rise, why many people think they have allergies but don't, and what's really happening inside your immune system when a true allergic reaction occurs. Have you ever agreed to something you didn't want to do, apologized when it wasn't your fault, or stayed silent when you knew you should speak up? These patterns can feel automatic — almost out of your control. One of the main reasons people exercise is to lose weight. It seems logical: burn more calories, lose more fat. But the science tells a more complicated story. Exercise is incredibly important for health — but when it comes to shedding pounds, its impact may be far smaller than most people believe. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3925973/ PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS QUINCE: Refresh your wardrobe with Quince!
