Sarah got her meds adjusted and she is riding the high of that sweet testosterone that is making her feel some kind of way. All of the sudden she isn't so judgy towards men. What's up with that??? We hear about the amazing investigative journalist that blew the lid of off of mistreatment for mentally ill patients and people unfairly placed into mental hospitals in the 1800s. Pittsburgh's own Nelly Bly is our badass bitch of the week with her moxie, courage, and fortitude, and we are hoping for more of that today. We learn why the US gave 11 bison to the Canadian first nations, and how it's meant to make up for past harms. We discuss the Oscars, why Sarah didn't know how to feel about Kieran Culkin's acceptance speech and why Demi Moore's movie Substance disturbed her. We hear why the eyeballs actually are windows to the soul, or at least the brain, and how they can reveal disease.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodSponsors:Cancel your unwanted subscriptions and reach your financial goals faster with Rocket Money. What drives someone with a privileged background, Ivy League education, and bright future to commit an alleged act of shocking violence? Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old valedictorian with a history of chronic pain and extremist leanings, is at the center of this disturbing case. From his fascination with the Unabomber to the manifesto he left behind, his story raises unsettling questions about radicalization, extremist ideology, and the human psyche. Psychotherapist and author Shavaun Scott joins the discussion to unpack the complexities of Mangione's actions. Was this the calculated move of a narcissist making a statement against corporate America, or something even darker? With alleged ties to extremist groups and a meticulously planned attack, Mangione's case challenges how we perceive morality, mental health, and motive in the digital age. Do individuals like Mangione truly believe they are saving the world, or are they simply seeking their own twisted form of validation? #TrueCrime #LuigiMangione #Radicalization #HiddenKillers #MentalHealth #ExtremistIdeology #TrueCrimePodcast Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Dr. Z addresses the guest's confusion at G-d, offers insights on resilience, and how we can hold space for those closest to us, even when our paths diverge. I. Suppose that you, an ordinary person, open your door and start choking on yellow smoke. You call up your representative and say “there should be less pollution”. A technical expert might hear “there should be less pollution” and have dozens of questions. Do you just want to do common-sense things, like lower the detection threshold for hexamethyldecawhatever? Or do you want to ban tetraethylpentawhatever, which is vital for the baby formula food chain and would cause millions of babies to die if you banned it? Any pollution legislation must be made of specific policies. In some sense, it's impossible to be “for” or “against” the broad concept of “reducing pollution”. Everyone would be against a bill that devastated the baby formula supply chain for no benefit. And everyone would support a magical bill that cleaned the skies with no extra hardship on industry. In between, there are just a million different tradeoffs; some are good, others bad. So (the technocrat concludes), it's incoherent to support “reducing pollution”. You can only support (or oppose) particular plans. And yet ordinary people should be able to say “I want to stop choking on yellow smoke every time I go outside” without having to learn the difference between hexamethyldecawhatever and tetraethylpentawhatever. https://www.astralcodexten.com/p/details-that-you-should-include-in
