How to identify and rewrite the limiting beliefs holding you back.Achieving what you want in life doesn't just hinge on what you believe about your future. According to Muriel Wilkins, it has just as much to do with what you believe about your past and present.Wilkins is an executive coach, author, and host of the HBR podcast Coaching Real Leaders. In her new book, Leadership Unblocked: Breakthrough the Beliefs that Limit Your Potential, she explains how our personal and professional blocks often stem from our own limiting beliefs about ourselves. “A belief is a story that you tell yourself,” she says, “It is the operating principle that is driving your behavior and the decisions you make.” Before we can take actions that will lead us to where we want to go, we have to uncover these hidden beliefs. Otherwise, Wilkins says, “We'll come back right to where we started. It's not just about what we do, it's about what we think about what we do that makes all the difference."In this episode of Think Fast, Talk Smart, Wilkins and host Matt Abrahams explore the three-step process of uncover, unpack, and unblock — Wilkins' method for identifying limiting beliefs, understanding how they might be shaping our behavior, and updating narratives to align with who we actually want to be.To listen to the extended Deep Thinks version of this episode, please visit FasterSmarter.io/premium.Episode Reference Links:Muriel WilkinsMuriel's Book: Leadership UnblockedEp.102 Create a Presence: How to Communicate in a Way Others Can FeelEp.98 Give It to Me Straight: How to Give Honest, Constructive Feedback Connect:Premium Signup >>>> Think Fast Talk Smart PremiumEmail Questions & Feedback >>> hello@fastersmarter.ioEpisode Transcripts >>> Think Fast Talk Smart WebsiteNewsletter Signup + English Language Learning >>> FasterSmarter.ioThink Fast Talk Smart >>> LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTubeMatt Abrahams >>> LinkedInChapters:(00:00) - Introduction (02:17) - The Seven Limiting Beliefs (04:43) - Three Steps to Becoming Unblocked (07:57) - Rethinking Values and Success (09:12) - Healthy vs. Toxic Productivity (11:56) - The Power of Mindset and Reframing (14:32) - Reverse Engineering Your Goals (17:41) - Managing Emotional Investment (21:21) - The Final Three Question (27:42) - Conclusion ********Thank you to our sponsors. Send us a textHave you ever felt like something inside you was holding you back, but you couldn't quite name it? Like every time you get close to the dream, something quietly convinces you to stop?In this episode—the third installment of the Limiting Beliefs series—we explore one of the most dangerous lies: the kind that sounds like your own voice. The kind that doesn't shout “You can't,” but gently whispers, “This is just who you are.”Terri breaks down how fear disguises itself as identity, weaving itself into your inner monologue until you're no longer sure what's you and what's survival. Using the powerful metaphor of painted stripes on a zebra, she illustrates how false narratives form over time, often beginning with childhood conditioning, rejection, failure, or shame. These “painted-on” beliefs start to feel real because they've been repeated—by others, by your inner critic, and eventually, by your own actions.Through personal storytelling and real-time reflection, Terri explores her own fear of visibility and how it shaped her approach to success. She unpacks the ways in which staying behind the scenes became a defense mechanism—one she misidentified as a personality trait. This episode invites you to ask bold questions, challenge inherited scripts, and reclaim the parts of you that got buried under repetition and fear.Whether you're building a dream, breaking old patterns, or simply trying to understand your resistance to growth, this conversation will help you spot the fraud you've been living with—and remind you of the truth underneath.#LimitingBeliefs #PersonalGrowthPodcast #Fear #Identity #SelfSabotage #MindsetShift #IdentityWork #OvercomingFear #DreamChaser #MentalBlocks #Emotional #Healing #shadowwork #FearOfSuccess #AuthenticSelf #ThoughtsOfADreamer
What if every fear, every self-doubt, and every belief that keeps you playing small could be traced back to one thing? Scarcity. The fear of not having enough — time, money, energy, love, support, success. Or maybe even the belief that your worth depends on how much you produce or achieve. In today's episode, we're going deep into why every limiting belief is rooted in scarcity—and how shifting out of it changes everything. I'll share the moments in my own journey where scarcity disguised itself as control, fear, and even "strategy"… and how healing those beliefs created more freedom, abundance, and flow in my life and business than I ever thought possible. 0:00 Introduction: The Root of All Limiting Beliefs 01:30 Understanding Scarcity: Beyond Money 02:56 Personal Journey: Recognizing Scarcity in My Life 04:23 Hidden Faces of Scarcity 05:53 Letting Go: A Personal Story of Surrender 10:44 Scarcity in Everyday Thoughts and Actions 22:17 Healing Scarcity: Steps to Rewire Your Mindset 30:08 Reflection and Practical Exercises 35:56 Conclusion: Embracing Abundance Links: The Empowered Women's Collective Your Limitless Adventures Group Trips Connect With Me: Instagram: @macs_explore Threads: @macs_explore

Feeling tired but unable to switch off? We dig into why smart, driven women keep circling burnout even after vacations, stricter routines, and “better boundaries.” The problem isn't your willpower. It's the hidden operating system—your subconscious identity—that keeps pulling you back into overgiving, people-pleasing, and nonstop productivity. We start by naming the six mistakes that quietly drain energy: chasing perfect work-life balance, banking on me time and vacations to fix everything, setting boundaries that still consume mental space, trying to care less, forcing meditation that spikes anxiety, and believing more time will finally make it all click. Each seems sensible. Yet each backfires when your identity still says, “I'm the reliable one,” “I never drop the ball,” or “I'm only valuable when I do more.”From there, we shift to what actually works. Using a brain-based approach, we show how to update the “I am” statements that steer your choices under stress. Drawing on the outcomes–processes–identity model popularized by James Clear, we explain why change rarely sticks when it starts at the surface. You'll learn how to create bridge beliefs your nervous system can accept, pair them with small proofs, and reduce the anxiety that typically follows saying no, resting, or leaving work at work. The result isn't cliche balance—it's sustainable energy, boundaries with mental peace, and care that doesn't cost you your health. If you're done with quick fixes and ready to change the code that runs your day, this conversation will meet you where you are and guide you forward. Send us a textIn this episode of Thoughts of a Dreamer, I break down how limiting beliefs are born inside the brain — and why fear can sound so reasonable that we mistake it for truth. We'll explore what happens when the amygdala (your body's bodyguard) hijacks your logic, how the prefrontal cortex tries to clean up the story, and how that split-second loop turns into lifelong hesitation. From posting your first TikTok to confessing your feelings to someone you like, you'll see how fear dresses up as logic to keep you “safe.” Through real stories, neuroscience receipts, and the viral elevator metaphor, I'll shows you how comfort can become a cage — and how to press the button that moves you forward.Key Takeaways:A limiting belief is just fear that has been learned to sound convincing. How the amygdala–prefrontal tug-of-war creates the safety loop. What negative reinforcement and the “low-road” fear pathway mean in real life.Signs you're safe and stuck — and how to start rewiring the loop. The challenge: identify what triggers your nervous system, sit with it, and ask, “Is this fear or fact?limiting beliefs, fear response, amygdala, prefrontal cortex, mindset shift, overcoming fear, comfort zone, neuroscience of fear, self-sabotage, brain-based mindset, personal growth podcast, Thoughts of a Dreamer podcast, rewiring the brain, how to overcome fear, breaking limiting beliefs, fear loop, creative confidence, content creator mindset, entrepreneurial fear

Silence in a marriage can feel like the safest choice. The silent treatment is a shield we use to protect ourselves. When old childhood wounds or emotional triggers surface, it can become a natural response to withdraw.I share my personal journey of understanding the silence in my own marriage. What I discovered is that it wasn't about shutting my partner out—it was a cry to feel seen, held, and safe. Recognizing these hidden emotions allowed me to create deeper connection, intimacy, and emotional safety in my relationship.Silence can also deepen emotional disconnection and fuel resentment if left unchecked. We'll explore how to respond differently: stay present, communicate your truth, and process emotions without withdrawing. If you've ever gone quiet to protect your heart or avoid conflict, this episode will help you uncover what that silence is really saying—and transform it into understanding, closeness, and conscious communication.–The Conscious Marriage Method is your roadmap to transforming old relationship patterns into lasting connection. We explore Tinsley's journey from the MIT Media Lab to co-founding Curious Learning, a non-profit transforming education for children in over 200 countries. He introduces his Eliminate Limiting Beliefs Framework, which guides leaders to let go of defensiveness, open up to curiosity, ask questions to understand, and create awareness of their assumptions. On today's episode of The Culture Matters Podcast, our very own Jay Doran is back behind the mic for another discussion on our favorite subject...culture. The topic for this episode is limiting beliefs. Limiting beliefs can be seen as a barrier toward reaching your true potential or preventing you from taking a leap when an opportunity presents itself. Limiting beliefs can also be seen as a protective shield to prevent you from getting hurt or disappointed or growing beyond your means. From the standpoint of corporate culture, are limiting beliefs a positive or a negative? Can they even be categorized as such? As we progress in our entrepreneurial journey, do limiting our beliefs help us or hinder us? We're covering all of that and more on this episode of The Culture Matters Podcast.

In this episode, Lian tells the ancient allegory of Plato's Cave, a story of awakening and the painful beauty of learning to see. Each month, Lian's shared a mythical tale as a doorway into your own soul. These stories are one of the oldest ways ancestral wisdom has been carried down to us, a living inheritance that continues to speak when we meet them with reverence. And this one feels especially poignant, because it will be the last story Lian tells in this way. Our community is evolving into its next form, UNIO: the Community for Wild Sovereign Souls. UNIO now becomes the living home for the Wild Sovereign Soul path, where together we reclaim our wildness, actualise our sovereignty, and awaken our souls. Rather than gathering for story and ceremony, we'll now meet twice each month in our community Guidance Circle so Jonathan and Lian can meet you exactly where you are and with whatever challenges you're experiencing from relationships and health, to money and parenting, to guide you to meet the material for liberation your soul is calling you to so that you may become truly free, living the life your heart longs for. You can find out more, and walk with us, at bemythical.com/unio The allegory tells of prisoners bound in a dark cavern, of shadows mistaken for truth, and of one who dares to turn toward the fire and climb into the blinding light of the sun. Lian tells the story of what happens when old beliefs begin to crack, when freedom calls but belonging pulls us back, and when the warmth of truth burns before it heals. Together, we follow the soul's climb from illusion to insight, from comfort to clarity. Listen if you've ever felt caught between the safety of what you know and the wild unknown of what could be. We'd love to know what YOU think about this week's show. Let's carry on the conversation… please leave a comment wherever you are listening or in any of our other spaces to engage. What you'll receive from this episode: The prisoners' world of shadows shows how easily belief can bind us, and how truth begins the moment we dare to question what we see. The climb from the cave reminds us that awakening is rarely gentle… it asks for courage, endurance, and the willingness to let old certainties fall away. Plato's allegory endures because it still speaks to our souls today, carrying ancestral wisdom about seeing clearly, walking together toward truth, and remembering the light that was always waiting. Marriage can be the most beautiful mirror for our own healing. For years, I tried to change my husband, only to realize the real work started within me. In this episode, I open up about the five powerful shifts that changed everything in my marriage—five ways I learned to love my husband better by first learning to love myself. These shifts came through deep inner work: releasing resentment that had quietly built up over decades, rewriting the stories I'd been telling myself about who my husband was, taking responsibility for my own needs, and learning to see him through a lens of gratitude instead of lack. The most life-changing part? Reconnecting with myself—my body, my feminine energy, and the woman I'd lost along the way. When I stopped trying to change him and chose to look inward instead, our entire relationship transformed. You'll hear honest, heartfelt reflections (like how resentment really just “poisons from the inside out”) and the mindset changes that brought more intimacy, play, and peace into a 33-year marriage. These are the kinds of lessons that don't just change a relationship—they change your life.–Ready to experience this kind of transformation in your own marriage? This episode explores how unresolved emotions shape behavior, limit growth, and keep you trapped in repetitive cycles—often without your awareness.Dr. Snyder walks you through practical methods for identifying, feeling, and releasing emotional blocks stored in the body.
