The Nameless Podcast is about documenting my journey. I used to think that I was just a nameless and faceless person in the world, but that is not the case. I have a voice and this podcast is a way to get that voice out into the world. This podcast is
Action. There is no tomorrow at least one you want if you do not put in action today.
Do you regret how your spend your day? Do you wonder where time goes? Are you bored? Do you miss moments you wish you could have back?
With everything going on there is a limit we each have for allowing information on this virus to take over our lives. Break free and allow yourself to not be consumed by it everyday. Take a moment and realize this will end, but do not allow it to have negative affects on your mental health.
Can you create positive inspiration? Where does it come from? Let me know your thoughts.
What do you consider consistent in your own content? Is it everyday or every other day? Do you have to post everyday, what about multiple platforms? Let me know.
Sorry but two weeks ago I failed with poor audio. Here is the episode you deserve and I am sorry.
In this trying time let's make sure we focus on taking care of yourself and your family. Stay positive and do not allow the negativity to add to what is going on. Also sorry for last weeks audio issue. Bonus episode coming out this week.
If you keep it inside the universe will never know where are going. Do not be afraid to say it.
There are times when people will have opinions of who you are. Should it matter what they think? Should it push you off your path? Who should you listen to?
Do you regret things of your past? Do you wish you could go back and change things? What if you could go and change moments but then when you do things disappear. Things you never noticed before would you still do it? Today I am discussing what the past means to me.
It has been to long and it felt weird not podcasting. But life caught up and I was unable to find a rhythm. But in failure I will find a new way. So I am back and I will be dropping Podcast content at least once a week. More to come, I appreciate you all!!!
On today's podcast I discuss what brings friction to my life and some ideas on how to get rid of it. I share a few stories that I have experienced recently and then dig into what I would do to change them. Stay tuned for some amazing stories to come. Thank you for taking a chance with The Nameless podcast. I would love if you took a moment and let me know what you think. It would mean the world to me.
There are so many ways you can do something. This is my reflection back on the last five years and how efficient I have become. I hope you enjoy.
I hear over and over again that you just need to find what you are looking for and then you will be able to flip the switch and create positive action and desire. It is very difficult to just flip on hard work. Without on purpose practice you will find yourself running up hill and falling back into similar patterns. No matter what life puts in front of you, put yourself into the work. You never know what it can add to your journey. Want to check out The Nameless Podcast? When you take the time to add to the noise you are doing a disservice to yourself and the Universe. I was not going to have this as a topic of content but after a conversation with my wife I have decided to share it. I am frequently running around, and at times when I am, people will hurl comments at me. They do not hurt physically or emotionally. But I can relate to someone that it may derail them on their path. That is why I am crafting this podcast around it. Bring a positive attitude and when you do get these negative comments, brush them aside and tell yourself you are on the right path. I have many priorities in my life. And it was not until the last week that I realized that even though I have many things I want and need to do. I will not be able to accomplish them all. And it is ok. If I ensure that I do what is important first and work from there while being on purpose I will do it all eventually. Want to check out The Nameless Podcast? My life comes down to running. Running to the train. Running to work. Running to the bus. But it isn't about the act of running. It is about the chase of my why or purpose. The reason that I am doing all of this. The running in your life, what are you doing? Why do you run, or act with purpose?
This is an reflection episode. I look back at my thoughts and feelings when I turned 30 to how I feel today that I am turning 40. I would love to hear from all of you about how your thoughts and feelings were during your age milestones. As always I appreciate the listens.
I spend on purpose time each day in the morning and evening to think about what I am grateful for. Right now I am grateful for this moment, even though this year has presented challenges and obstacles that I have had to overcome. I am grateful because they have made me a better human, husband and person. How do you go about thinking of what you are grateful for? At times I can lose sight of this.
So I didn't want to record an episode today and I was already with an excuse locked in. But that would be the old me. Two years ago and longer I would have made the excuse, not for others but for me. So I wouldn't have to follow through. That is no more. Take a listen and let me know how you overcome the days or moments when you do not feel up for it.
On Monday I did an episode discussing what types of stress that I have been going through, With this episode I want to focus on what I have been working on to eliminate and deal with the stress. I would love to hear from all of you about what stress are you dealing with, and how you are overcoming it. Reach out to my on LinkedIn or Instragram and share you story.
Since my move into this new place Sacramento I have been living with a lot more stress than I have had prior. The stress includes financial, working three jobs to make sure that my wife and I are able to live comfortably and go to school. School, the whole reason that I am here is to expand and grow. Add value to myself and others. Expand beyond the box that I lived in before and see where it can take me. The environment is new and with that has added stress as well. I am living, taking each day as I can. Everyday is a step for me, and an opportunity. The mindset gear is positive, and never losing sight of why I am on this planet, and how grateful I am for this chance. As always thank you for taking the time to listen. Please tell me what stresses you out, and how you live with it? Matthew
So it has been a couple of weeks living in Sacramento. And it is feeling more and more like home. Everyday I am finding it easier to fit in and figure out a way to live. Some of the routines that I had before, didn't work and have now discovered new routines to replace them. It is all exciting and scary all at the same time. I truly hope you enjoy, Let me know what you think by leaving a review, or messaging me on Linkedin or Instagram.
The other week I was on the Zack Scrivens podcast. It was a blast, I have been connected with Zack for a while on Linkedin and this was actually the first time we have spoken. We could never narrow down when to actually speak, so this was a long time coming. Now he had been posting for 4 hours straight and I was the last guest. I caught him off guard with some questions which I apologized about later. This was done on skype so I was outside when we did this. I hope you enjoy. Also please check out Zacks podcast, he has amazing content on automation. Great guy. Connect with him.
Walking to the Secretary of State, well the train that will take me there. New job and new way to get to work. It is exciting but also scary all at the same time. I would love to hear about your first time starting a new job or a profession. I did this while walking so if the sound quality isn't the best I apologize. I truly appreciate all of you taking the time to listen.
As I sit here and record inside my new home for the first time ever. I am anxious. It is like an old friend tugging at my sleeve trying to get me to follow them to the same old path. I am growing from this old feeling. This is the unknown but the fear is a natural reaction to it all. I will and can do this! Always thankful that you all are listening, thank you.
This is a quick plog as I am driving this 16 foot Penske truck toward Sacramento. There is some fear but this is all worth it. This drive is taking me closer and closer to my new home and the beginning of this story. I appreciate everyone that listens.
So this is a story from one of the last days I at job. I want to share it as I feel that it has meaning and it is something that should be brought into attention. I want to be clear that I am very grateful for this job, and for all three years this company has been great and I have learned a lot. But sometimes things happen and this is the story of that. Please let me know what you think, I am going to share this in a positive way.
Today is my last day working at the bank and the Chipotle up here in Marin County. It is a mix of emotions that I have today. Some parts fear. Some parts excitement. Just a jumble of different feelings mixing together. What I do know for sure is that I am running toward this change, no drag here. So happy for the opportunity and blessed to have an amazing partner to share this with. I have a favor to ask, if anyone is listening on apple podcasts if you could please leave an review and let me know what you think it would mean the world to me. Thank you so much.
So at work I am working with my replacement and really enjoying the time with him. I took some time and created him a word document that has a cheat sheet for him. The conversations that I had with him were really centered around building up his confidence. I have no doubts that he is going to really excel and exceed the expectations. But he lacks some confidence in his ability. It gets me reflecting on my past as I help him and my confidence that had waned at times as well. I also go into a snapshot of what this weekend is going to look like. Getting my car's tires replaced and going to an amazing restaurant here in San Rafael, Ca called " Sol Food", check it out if you are ever in the area. Appreciate you taking the time to listen, if you are listening in apple podcast please leave me a review, that would be so cool. You know where to find me if there is ever anything I can do.
When I decided to go back to school it was not a popular decision at all. And that is totally fine with me. I am doing it for my purpose and why. The bottom line is I am doing it for myself, and no one else. I spent a lifetime living either in fear or conforming to what others wanted of me. What decisions have you made that were not popular but will the best for you? How did they turn out, and what did everyone have to say after?
With all this change that has been occurring around me as I drive around my old home of Santa Rosa it brings up many feelings. This has been my home pretty much my whole life. Feelings and memories come flooding back to me. If you have moved how did you process the memories, do you take the time to reflect back on where you lived?
It has been years since I really got to coach and train. It is something that I always enjoyed about my job at Best Buy. Today and through this week I am able to train my replacement at Chipotle. So far it has been great and I feel it is a way for the Universe to let me know hey this is part of your why. Being able to help level up someone and give them the tools to succeed brings me much energy.
This weekend was another example of how little my own parents support me. That is totally ok, I am in a place where all I need is the support of my wife and myself. But the question is for you, what do you do when you feel that no one supports you? What steps do you take to make your enviroment better? Or do you do nothing and live around people that constantly want to level you down instead of up? Take a moment and listen and then let me know what you would or will do. I support all of you, just let me know how I can help you.
With me at the end of this move and starting a new story with my wife it has me reflecting back to when I was trapped within my own mindset. A mindset that was negative and closed off. I never thought I was worth anything than the retail job that I had. I was scared and living in a world of less than and frustration with myself that I took out on the world. This is my reflection.
It has been three years working here and with me in the process of flipping the table of my life this was coming. For me it is not just putting in my notice to work, put for an area that I have called home for almost thirty years. As I look around I see memories. Some good, some bad. But I am excited to make new memories with my wife and create a new home.
I have completed my trip to Sacramento and I feel that is was very successful. I didn't leave with a job offer but I had two amazing conversations with the people that are hiring at each location and I have a shot. That is all you can do. Put forth max effort, be positive and tell your story and the value you can share. I did that. Now I cross my fingers. But also I move forward, there are always doors to open. Never lose sight that in failure we can move forward and grow even more.
I am driving to Sacramento to interview with the Secretary of State of California and the Associate Dean for the School of Business for Sac State. These are the emotions I feel as I make the drive. It is a two part as I will record post interviews the drive back. Take a listen and let me know how you handle an interview what emotions are you feeling?
So I have spent so much time thinking about the move that is coming and how much my life is going to change day to day and week to week that I did not give any thought to the podcast. This is my initial thoughts on where the pod is going and how I will incorporate it into my life going forward. I am not going anywhere just the beginning stages of figuring it out.
Lots of exciting things happened this weekend. Here is a look at the events, plus buying a purple mattress. Mapped out the month through August 13th and we are ready to get this done!!
What do you do when you hit a setback in your journey? Lately I have hit some snags with being positive, I am ok with the setbacks because it allows me to learn from them. But it is not easy at all. None of it is, and just because I am striving to be positive and grow does not mean that my old self won't peek his head out sometimes. Every opportunity is there to learn and grow. I will focus and understand where it is coming from and try to improve on what I am doing.
Coming out of the weekend and being 30 days away from this move I am feeling some fear. Which gets me reflecting on where this comes from and how I use it as some additional fuel. Also a look at my week coming up, not just with the 4th but also a test and other aspects I have to look forward to. More to come, thank you for listening.
I spend on purpose time each day in the morning and evening to think about what I am grateful for. This is a story about showing empathy to a new employee in the work place. She was struggling and everyone else had turned their back and focused on themselves. I could not just sit there and not say anything, that is not what I am about. This is the story of what I said. The goal for me is to add value.
One of the foundation pieces to being a well rounded leader or even human is to show empathy. I have been on the empathy train for about a year now. I am no expert but this is my take on empathy in the workplace. It is important to understand the people around you, it will enable you to connect and grow with them as a team. We spend so much time around these people we should take the time to understand them.
Coming out of a weekend in which I saw my family struggle with getting things done it really has me reflecting on what it takes to not spin out of control when everything is falling apart around me. Also updates on what my life looks like in the moment and what I have coming up for the week. Hope everyone is doing great. Matthew
Do not bring more frustration and friction by complaining or other actions that add to the noise. During my life I spent a lot of energy bringing more pain onto myself than was needed, If I had just fixed my foundation I would have achieved more. Do not add to all the obstacles by forcing friction into the journey.
So this is what my current week has been looking like now and my feelings on how my energy levels are now to what they were seven years ago. So much is changing and energy is needed to make it all happen.
