319. Cuffy and the Power of Letting Go In this episode of Creative Chats, Mike Brennan shares a personal story about bowling, his playful alter ego "Cuffy," and the surprising power of loosening control. What begins as a funny family memory becomes a deeper reflection on perfectionism, creativity, and the freedom that comes from showing up with more joy and less pressure.Mike explains how trying too hard often creates tension, frustration, and disappointing results—whether in bowling, pickleball, drawing, or creative work. He encourages listeners to stop white-knuckling their way through life, embrace imperfection, and make room for fun as part of the process, not just the reward at the end.He also reflects on how creativity has helped him reconnect with himself and how his book, Make Fun a Habit, explores this same idea through short stories, reflections, and exercises. In this episode, you'll hear: The story behind Mike's alter ego, Cuffy Why trying to control too much can backfire How silliness can reduce pressure and improve performance A reminder that creativity should feel alive, not just productive How fun can be a practice, not a prize Key takeaways: Perfectionism can disconnect you from joy and creativity Loosening up can create better results and a better experience You don't have to compare your beginning to someone else's middle Creativity is a personal resource for problem-solving, expression, and life Mentioned in this episode: Mike Brennan's book: Make Fun a Habit Website: mikebrennan.me About the host Mike Brennan is a creative guide who helps people reconnect with themselves through creativity. His work encourages listeners to live more colorfully, embrace their creative voice, and build a daily creative habit. Closing thought If you've been feeling stuck, tense, or overly serious in your creative life, this episode invites you to try something different, have some fun, and see what changes.

Not all warnings come from old books. Sometimes they begin with an injured cat… with an argument that shouldn't have escalated… with a word spoken too many. Other times they begin on a dirt road, under the moon, when someone decides to turn around. And there are times when the pain in a house opens the door to something that shouldn't cross it. In this episode, we'll hear stories about presences that mimic, that haunt, that punish… and that seem to draw near when someone challenges them. If you don't believe in witches, that's fine. But be careful what you say... because there are things that listen.

Episode 327 of The Business Development Podcast features Joel Zeff, a nationally recognized speaker, humorist, and work culture expert who has spent more than 25 years helping organizations build stronger teams and better leaders. In this conversation, Joel shares how losing his job became one of the most defining moments of his life when he walked out with a harmonica he did not even know how to play and used that moment to choose energy, humor, and resilience over defeat. That story becomes the gateway into a much bigger conversation about leadership, mindset, and why fun is not something extra at work, it is often the very thing that helps people stay engaged, adaptable, and ready to perform at a higher level.Throughout the episode, Joel breaks down why celebrating small wins matters more than most leaders realize, how positive support creates momentum, and why staying in the game is one of the most important choices any professional can make. We also explore public speaking, confidence, workplace culture, embracing change, and how leaders can create environments where people feel energized instead of drained.Learn more about Joel Zeff:https://www.joelzeff.com/https://www.linkedin.com/in/joelzeff/Get Joel's book, Make the Right Choice:https://www.amazon.ca/Make-Right-Choice-Passion-Elevate/dp/1394278950Business Development Podcast listeners can also access Joel's special offer, a free chapter on change, directly through his website. Just Mention the Show. Key Takeaways: Fun is not a distraction, it is a competitive advantage that drives energy, engagement, and performance.Celebrating small wins consistently builds momentum and fuels long-term success more than waiting for big milestones.Staying in the game is the most important decision you can make, because quitting guarantees failure while persistence keeps opportunity alive.Confidence does not come from perfect outcomes, it comes from choosing how you show up in difficult moments.Leaders create culture by giving people ownership and supporting them, not by demanding passion without building the foundation for it.Positive support multiplies performance, when people feel encouraged they take more risks, produce more, and grow faster. Most people do not fear public speaking, they fear making mistakes, and learning to embrace imperfection unlocks confidence.Fun looks different for everyone, the key is identifying what energizes you and leaning into it consistently.Your response to setbacks defines your trajectory more than the setback itself, mindset is the difference between collapse and growth. The best leaders bring humanity into their work by creating environments where people feel safe, valued, and motivated to contribute.Sponsor HighlightsThis episode of The Business Development Podcast is proudly supported by our 2026 Title Sponsor, Hypervac Technologies. Shayne and Jay start with “hold down the fort,” which apparently has a “dark secret,” depending on which Civil War general you ask. Then they tackle “ladies and gentlemen,” which is now too limiting for a world with more than two genders and at least three million opinions.Bootstraps come next, along with the shocking discovery that boots are expensive and cheap‑ass boots hurt your feet. A heartfelt toast follows, proving that words are powerful, emotional, and occasionally sharp as a box cutter. Then comes “powwow,” which leads to a debate about cultural appropriation, tribal languages, tomahawks, and the Kansas City Chefs. “Tomboy” rolls in with skateboards, cutting boards, and grammar crimes. Finally, “exotic” gets canceled for sounding like a compliment but apparently not being one. Also, it rhymes with “erotic,” which sends the round straight into Beer Thursday territory. It's chaotic, goofy, and full of canceled‑phrase confusion — exactly what you expect from a round like this.~~~~~~~Disclosure: I don't really have a house elf. World Leaders Meet To Make Fun Of Donald Trump

Farron Balanced Daily

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 6, 2025 25:55

A group of powerful world leaders (that did NOT include Donald Trump) met last week where they openly mocked Trump's stupidity and frequent gaffes. The Prime Minister of Albania joked with French leader Emmanuel Macron for not congratulating him on the peace deal that Trump worked out between his country and Azerbaijan. The joke, of course, is that there was no conflict between the two nations, yet Trump has repeatedly insisted that he worked out a peace deal between the two. The world leaders had a great laugh at Trump's expense.Veterans groups were outraged late last week when a 70-year-old Air Force veteran was knocked to the ground by ICE agents then surrounded and arrested on the spot. Video of the incident appears to show that the man's only crime was yelling at ICE to "go away." This is what life is like with Donald Trump's gestapo roaming the streets of America, waiting for the slightest provocation to lock up American citizens. These are not patriots - they are masked thugs terrorizing American citizens. Anyone celebrating the fact that TikTok has not been shut down in the US might want to take a minute to realize what's about to happen. The platform is going to be sold to the king of right wing propaganda, Rupert Murdoch, along with co-ownership by one of Donald Trump's billionaire buddies that also just purchased another major media outlet. And if there is still any doubt in your mind, there's the fact that while signing the executive order, Trump admitted he was going to turn the outlet into a propaganda machine for him and his administration. American farmers overwhelmingly supported Donald Trump in 2024, and they've also been the hardest hit by his policies - on top of being the most vocal about how bad his policies have been for them. Trump has heard their cries for help, and now he's going to try to buy their loyalty like he did in 2018, 2019, and 2020 by offering up $10 billion in bailout funds to pay off these angry voters. This is our tax money going to a group of people that were harmed by their own actions, and something about that doesn't sit right. Karoline Leavitt certainly isn't living up to those Christian ideals that she pretends to hold dear. During a Fox News appearance last week, Leavitt said that the administration is "absolutely" targeting funding for Democratic states during the government shutdown, and if Democrats don't want their voters to suffer, then they should do whatever Trump wants them to do. This is extortion at its finest, and proof that we do not need to feel any empathy for the Trump voters that are also suffering under his policies.Text and and let us know your thoughts on today's stories!Subscribe to our YouTube channel to stay up to date on all of Farron's content: https://www.youtube.com/FarronBalancedFollow Farron on social media! In this episode of the Journey of My Mother's Son podcast, I talk with Mike Brennan. I first met Mike back in 2019 at the Growth Now Movement Live Summit hosted by my friend, Justin Schenck in our old hometown of Reading, Pennsyvania.  We reconnected in November of 2024 when we were both speaking at The Thing in Orlando, Florida, which was hosted by Terry Weaver. Mike Brennan, author of Make Fun a Habit: The Creative PLAYbook for Making Life and Work Fun Again, is not just a Creative Consultant and Communicator; he's a passionate advocate for reigniting the lost art of fun and creativity in our lives. In his book, Make Fun a Habit, Mike takes readers on a captivating journey, drawing from personal experiences of resilience and moments of light in the darkest times. Through this journey, he uncovers the secrets to rediscovering fun, infusing every day with play, and unlocking our innate creative potential. Mike's expertise extends beyond the pages of his book, as he has been instrumental in helping renowned clients such as Heineken and Chase Bank infuse creativity, innovation, and yes, fun, into their work. His artwork has graced prestigious spaces like the Ronald McDonald House and the I.D.E.A. Museum in Mesa, Arizona. His educational journey includes studying in New York City and graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology and The School of Visual Arts. What sets Mike apart is his commitment to helping individuals and organizations harness the transformative power of creativity in their daily lives and businesses. He offers a unique Daily Creative Habit process, honed over a decade of personal practice, to empower individuals and businesses to integrate innovation into their routines. His methods encompass time management, goal-driven creativity, and a sustainable approach to making innovation a seamless part of daily life and work. In a world where the daily grind often overshadows the pursuit of happiness, Mike stands as a beacon of hope. His message is clear: embrace the adventure that life offers, and discover how incorporating creativity and fun into your routine can lead to a more vibrant, fulfilling existence. Through his words, art, actions, and unwavering dedication to the cause, Mike inspires us all to make fun not just a habit but a way of life. SVP and Stanford Steve are back to break down everything that happened in Week 8 of the NFL season. Starting with a Monday Night Football recap, the guys talk about the environment in Pittsburgh and discuss how legit the Steelers are this season. There's no denying that the Commanders, Chiefs, Bills, Lions and Eagles are legit, but the same cannot be said for the Cowboys. And does another ugly Ravens loss mean they cannot be considered the best team in the league? Plus, SVP lists the current residents of Pooptown and the population is growing. Finally, the guys talk about how Halloween isn't the same as it used to be before reacting to Fat Joe performing in Yankee Stadium. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
