Welcome to the Triple P Life Podcast! In this episode, Dr. Jay LaGuardia dives deep into the mindset challenges that prevent many of us from achieving our goals. A third of the way through the year, Dr. Jay addresses why some people are on track with their goals while others continue to struggle despite their best efforts. He reveals three common subconscious beliefs that sabotage success and shares a practical six-step process to identify and overcome these limiting beliefs. Dr. Jay vulnerably shares his own personal journey of overcoming childhood trauma, anger issues, and fear of abandonment, demonstrating how these early experiences created limiting beliefs that nearly cost him everything he valued. Through this authentic storytelling, he illustrates how our early programming continues to affect our adult behaviors until we consciously work to change these patterns. What You'll Learn: How your subconscious mind operates: Your subconscious is programmed between ages 3-9 and controls 90% of your daily life through habitual patterns. The three limiting beliefs that sabotage success: "Children should be seen and not heard" - creating fear of visibility and judgment "If I'm not perfect, I'll be punished" - leading to anxiety, overthinking, and underexecution "I have to do everything myself" - causing burnout, overwhelm, and inability to scale A six-step process to overcome any limiting belief: Identify and challenge the root belief Reframe your narrative Install new subconscious patterns through affirmations, visualization, and meditation Process emotions through journaling and release Reprogram through new experiences and support Anchor your new identity through consistent action The power of vulnerability: True healing and growth require honest self-examination and willingness to be vulnerable. How to rewire your brain: Practical techniques including box breathing (4-4-4-4), affirmations, visualization, and deliberate imperfection. The importance of self-acceptance: Your self-worth isn't tied to others' opinions or your performance. How to practice delegation: Starting with small tasks to build trust and gradually release control. Dr. Jay offers a compelling perspective on why some people achieve remarkable success while others remain stuck in patterns of frustration despite having the same 1,440 minutes each day. The difference lies in mastering your mindset rather than letting it master you. If you're ready to break free from limiting beliefs, implement the six-step brain rewiring process, and finally achieve the success you deserve, this episode provides the roadmap you need to get started. Did you know that regulating your nervous system can be the key to overcoming self-sabotage, transforming your metabolism, and making peace with food?In today's episode of the Make Peace with Food Podcast, we will focus on understanding how self-sabotage, negative self-talk, and fear shape our lives. I discuss how crucial it is to regulate the nervous system, which helps shift us from a state of protection into one of safety. When we do this, we can actually change our metabolism, thoughts, and overall well-being. Fear, instead of being something that holds us back, can become a guide – showing us opportunities and helping us become more aware.I also introduce some powerful techniques to make lasting changes, like healing the inner child, managing metabolism, and boosting emotional intelligence. I show how using your breath can help control emotions, leading to healthier, more conscious decisions. Topics Covered:Understanding Fear and Shifting from Protection to Safety ModeThe Importance of Sitting Quietly Amidst Daily DistractionsExploring Inner Child Healing and Metabolism in MasterclassUnderstanding Weight Loss Through Nervous System and Stress ManagementThe Struggle Between Emotional Eating and Hormonal BalanceTransforming Eating Habits Through Emotional Regulation and Self-DiscoveryTransformative Yearlong Program for Gut Health and Personal GrowthInvesting in Personal Growth Through Coaching and Self-WorthHarnessing Breathwork for Emotional Regulation and Stress ReliefIf you've ever felt like food has power over you, I hope this conversation brings you comfort and inspiration. You're not alone, and healing is possible. If you've ever felt like you're doing everything right—eating well, exercising, pushing yourself—but your body just won't let go of fat, there's a reason.Your nervous system is either in Protection Mode (fight-or-flight) or Safety Mode (rest-and-digest)—and fat release only happens in Safety Mode. But if your body feels unsafe? It clings to fat, slows metabolism, and even triggers binge eating and self-sabotage.Think about it. You go through stress, and suddenly you're reaching for food you swore you wouldn't touch. You're not weak—it's biology. When your body is in survival mode, it's wired to conserve energy and seek quick fuel. That's why unwanted eating behaviors feel so out of control sometimes. But here's the kicker: fat loss isn't just about burning calories—it's about making your body feel safe enough to let go.So the real question is—are you pushing your body into Protection Mode without even realizing it? Because if you are, no amount of dieting or exercise is going to override survival mode. It's time to stop fighting your body and start working with it.So if you're ready to Break Free from Emotional and Binge Eating, download my FREE eBook: Calm the Craving: 7 Steps to Break the Emotional and Binge Eating Battle. In this guide, you'll learn how to regulate your nervous system to eliminate cravings, make peace with food, and allow the weight to naturally release itself.Download your free copy here: www.sherryshaban.com/calmYou deserve to experience food freedom, I can't wait to see you inside!Join my Facebook Community here: www.facebook.com/groups/makepeacewithfoodofficialBook a Food Freedom Strategy Call with me www.calendly.com/sherryshaban/makepeacewithfoodSubscribe to the podcast so you never miss an episode! And today, we break the code. You'll learn how to shift your mind into the version of you that already has everything you want — the money, the peace, the purpose — and how to live from that frequency right now. This is not a feel-good talk. On this weeks solo episode I talk about our Breaking Free program which we run three times a year. Registration for the current program is open - more info on tribesober.com We limit each Breaking Free group to 20 so you'll always get personal attention In this episode:- I talk about the warning signs of alcohol dependence as well as the benefits of an alcohol free lifestyle The Breaking Free program has four components… Four pieces of a puzzle that come together to create a transformation… The first piece of the puzzle is Community Support so we connect you with the other people on the Breaking Free program We put you in a chatgroup with where you'll also find some TS team members to answer any questions you may have You'll also be invited to several Zoom meetings every week The second piece is our 4 hour Masterclass – a group session which we hold via Zoom. Another opportunity to get to know the other people on the program as everyone will share their story at the beginning of the session. By the end of the Masterclass you'll understand:- The importance of a mindset change and the damage alcohol does to our health We'll be sharing our tried and tested sobriety toolkit and you'll end the session feeling motivated and excited about the changes ahead. While the Masterclass will give you an overview of the Tribe Sober approach to thriving in sobriety the online course will enable you to dive deeper at your own pace. You'll get all the theory and training you need to overturn your limiting beliefs around alcohol which is the key…. Just as we've been programmed into thinking that alcohol is an essential part of our daily lives our online program will de-program you and enable you to understand that you will be happier and healthier without it! The third piece is our online course which includes videos, podcasts, articles and book recommendations so you'll be able to throw the book at your sobriety – you'll be able to treat it as a 3-month project that will take a deep dive into psychology, biology and neuroscience - a project that will change the trajectory of your future. The fourth part of the puzzle is the personal support. You'll have a 1.2.1 Zoom call with Sue who will explain how everything work and help you with any tech issues Mid-way through the 3 month program you'll have a session with Coach Darren to review learnings so far A final session with our Coach Lynette who will discuss how you are applying the theory of the Breaking Free program to your daily life So that's the four pieces of our Breaking Free puzzle, four pieces that will come together to create an alcohol free lifestyle that you love.. Apart from creating a program that will get results we've created a program that is flexible and will fit in with your busy lives…. All of the 1.2.1's can be scheduled to suit your convenience, the online course can be worked through at your own pace so the only timeslot you need to fit in is the four hour Masterclass. (we can send you a recording if you can't make it) While we're on the subject of time that's one of the unexpected benefits of sobriety….. when we no longer spend time drinking and recovering from the drinking we find ourselves with extra time on our hands…. As well as the energy to do something constructive with that time! Why does anxiety feel so limiting—like your world is shrinking? For Dr. Patricia Zurita Ona, better known as Dr. Z, the key to freedom isn't control—it's committed action. As Director of the East Bay Behavior Therapy Center and a leader in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), she helps clients break out of fear-based cycles and reconnect with their values. With nearly two decades of clinical experience and six books under her belt, Dr. Z brings an evidence-based, deeply compassionate approach to emotional resilience and cognitive flexibility—especially for high-achievers and those facing OCD, panic, and anxiety. In this episode, Dr. Z unpacks: Why avoiding anxiety often makes it worse What to do (and not do) during a panic attack How ACT helps regulate the nervous system and reshape your relationship with fear The role of mindful performance and value-driven action in lasting recovery Stay connected to Dr. Z's work at East Bay Behavior Therapy Center and explore a new path forward—one grounded in clarity, compassion, and therapy that works. What if it's not a lack of willpower holding you back but your body's way of trying to protect you?In this episode, we dive into why you self-sabotage, how negative self-talk creeps in, and what it really means to regulate your emotions. With everything I've learned over the years in health and fitness, I've come to see that willpower isn't the real issue—fear is. But not fear in the way you usually think of it. Fear is actually a form of intuition—your body's way of protecting you and helping you grow. We're exploring how fear, anger, sadness, and joy are all connected and how fear specifically affects your solar plexus and adrenal system—two key players in how your body responds to stress. We also get into how our breath and nervous system are deeply linked. When you're stuck in Protection Mode, it can mess with your metabolism and spike your cortisol levels. That's why I focus on helping you move from a fear-based mindset into a sense of safety—through practices like breathwork and inner child healing. This episode is all about transforming how you respond to fear and learning to work with our instincts, not against them.Topics Covered:Understanding Fear and Shifting from Protection to Safety ModeThe Importance of Sitting Quietly Amidst Daily ChaosExploring Inner Child Healing and Metabolism in MasterclassThe Impact of Nervous System on Weight Loss EffortsThe Challenges of Emotional Eating and Hormonal InfluencesAchieving Sustainable Weight Loss Through Emotional Regulation and AutonomyThe Nervous System's Role in Emotional and Memory PatternsIf you've ever felt like food has power over you, I hope this conversation brings you comfort and inspiration. Today, we seem to spend so much time, energy, and effort chasing insight. Almost anytime that you engage in psychotherapy or counseling, someone will inevitably bring up the idea of having to look into your childhood to figure out why you do what you do. The idea seems to be that we need insight to facilitate change. We seem to think that we can figure out why we do what we do, and then we will be better able to change it. And sometimes, we have light bulb moments. We all love those light bulb moments—but what if they don't lead to change? In this episode of The Joe Martino Show, Joe unpacks why insight without behavior change is worthless. He challenges the idea that understanding alone is enough, and instead, explores how real transformation happens when we start doing things differently. If you've ever wondered why you stay stuck despite knowing better, this episode is for you. Expect practical questions to help you shift from insight to action, and finally move forward.

Did you know that your childhood experiences and unconscious beliefs shape your relationship with food?In this episode, we dive deep into emotional regulation and those sneaky unconscious beliefs that often trace back to childhood. I'm joined by two incredible guests, Lucy and Sandra, who open up about their personal journeys and the emotional layers tied to their relationship with food.We talk about how stress, past experiences, and old programming can drive our eating behaviors—often without us even realizing it. Lucy shares how learning to forgive herself and let go of perfectionism led to big shifts in her health. And Sandra reflects on how moving away from external validation helped her finally see food as nourishment instead of something to feel guilty about. This conversation is raw, real, and packed with insight. We explore everything from nervous system regulation and inner child work to the importance of self-awareness when it comes to breaking free from self-sabotaging patterns. If you've ever felt stuck in a cycle with food or frustrated by your own habits, this episode is here to show you that change is absolutely possible—with compassion, curiosity, and a little inner work.Topics Covered:Understanding Self-Sabotage Through Unconscious Beliefs and Nervous SystemThe Impact of Early Childhood Experiences on Emotional DevelopmentInner Child Work and Overcoming Emotional EatingFinding Freedom and Self-Acceptance in Food ChoicesMindful Eating and Overcoming Emotional Triggers with KindnessTransforming Relationship With Food Through Self-Awareness and NutritionTransformative Power of Self-Discovery and Emotional HealingInner Child Work and Overcoming Childhood MindsetsInvest in Personal Transformation Through Coaching and SupportUncovering Childhood Fears Through Hypnotherapy and Self-ReflectionIf you've ever felt like food has power over you, I hope this conversation brings you comfort and inspiration. In this guide, you'll learn how to regulate your nervous system to eliminate cravings, make peace with food, and allow the weight to naturally release itself.Join my Facebook Community here: www.facebook.com/groups/makepeacewithfoodofficialBook a Food Freedom Strategy Call with me www.calendly.com/sherryshaban/makepeacewithfoodSubscribe to the podcast so you never miss an episode!
