This week's episode is about GG Allin. He didn't perform music—he performed violence. In this episode, we dig into the life of one of punk's most infamous figures, a man whose shows were marked by assault, self-harm, arrests, and chaos disguised as art. We examine his abusive upbringing, obsession with death, and the culture that excused real harm in the name of shock value. This isn't a tribute. It's a reckoning.Because when violence becomes entertainment, someone always pays for it.Sources[1] GG Allin - Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GG_Allin[2] GG Allin's Demented Life And Death As Punk Rock's Wild Man https://allthatsinteresting.com/gg-allin[3] GG Allin: 16 gruesome things you might not know | Louder https://www.loudersound.com/features/blood-and-guts-16-facts-about-gg-allin[4] GG Allin age, hometown, biography - Last.fm https://www.last.fm/music/GG+Allin/+wiki[5] GG Allin: the gruesome life and tragic death of the most shocking ... https://www.loudersound.com/features/gg-allin-the-gruesome-life-and-tragic-death-of-the-most-shocking-man-in-music[6] GG Allin: Live Fast Die | Malvern Books https://malvernbooks.com/2014/07/16/gg-allin-live-fast-die/[7] GG Allin - Biography - IMDb https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0021359/bio/[8] GG Allin's Last Day on Earth - VICE https://www.vice.com/en/article/gg-allins-last-day-on-earth/[9] Hated: GG Allin and The Murder Junkies (1993) "Punk ... - Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/Documentaries/comments/gh3d0u/hated_gg_allin_and_the_murder_junkies_1993_punk/[10] GG Allin on Jango Radio | Full Bio, Songs, Videos https://www.jango.com/music/GG+Allin/_full_bio[11] Kevin Michael Allin; Rock Performer, 37 - The New York Times https://www.nytimes.com/1993/07/01/obituaries/kevin-michael-allin-rock-performer-37.html[12] GG Allin Gets Trapped in America, Sends Word to the Empire https://brooklynrail.org/2013/11/music/gg-allin-gets-trapped-in-america-sends-word-to-the-empire/[13] GG Allin | Spotify https://open.spotify.com/artist/5Nx3gPpU2OFLI80rv7fDX5[14] American punk rock musicians, GG Allin and the Murder Junkies at ... https://www.facebook.com/100064829642926/posts/american-punk-rock-musicians-gg-allin-and-the-murder-junkies-at-the-gas-station-/1166168385554139/[15] The Brethren of GG (i.e., Jesus Christ) Allin - Film International https://filmint.nu/brethren-christ-allins/

March 7, 2026Today's Reading: Introit for Lent 3 - Psalm 25:1-2, 17-18, 20; antiphon: Psalm 25:15-16Daily Lectionary: Genesis 27:1-29; Mark 8:22-38“To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.” (Psalm 25:1) In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. O Lord, to You I lift up my soul. I trust in You. Yes, my life rests on You, for You are the unshakable foundation. That's what my Baptism tells me. I have been put into You, my Mighty Fortress. Sin, Death, and Satan can't crush and hush me for You have overcome these enemies by Your bleeding, dying, third-day rising. I believe this, O Lord, and yet I struggle. There are days I look around and my eyes get the best of me. It can look like Sin, Death, and Satan are in charge. O Lord, I know this is not true. You are Lord over all! Therefore, help me to walk by faith and not by sight. Open the eyes of my heart to see You as my deliverer. I'm helpless to save myself, after all, but I am not hopeless. You are my hope. This is not wishful thinking but a sure confidence that You will come through for me in Your way and Your time. I feel alone some days, but Your promise is that You are with me always. Your promises can't fail. They will never lead me astray. You tell the truth, for You are the Truth. There's no reason, therefore, for me to ignore what I'm going through or try to cover it up with a smiley face. I can be honest since nothing can surprise You. There are troubles in my life that I can't get myself out of. Troubles that I am responsible for and those that have been brought into my life by others. These troubles teach me that I'm not in control. I ask You to consider all the sufferings and troubles I have, and please forgive me. Cover my sins with Your righteousness. Cleanse me with Your blood. Every part of my life, You have redeemed with Your blood, and I will on the Last Day get to see how You used it all for my good. I won't be able to stop smiling! Now I wait. It's not always easy with all the pains and problems in this life. So please, Lord, guard my heart from the attacks of Satan, who wants me to give in, give up, and give out. The Cross is my reminder that You can and will deliver me from all my fears and tears. You did not stay dead but rose on Easter Morning, securing for me my own Easter Morning on the Last Day! Because You are my refuge, I can't be shaken. Nothing and no one can destroy me. I trust in You and will not be put to shame. O Lord, to You I lift up my soul. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. While I am a pilgrim here, Let Thy love my spirit cheer; As my guide, my guard, my friend, Lead me to my journey's end. (LSB 779:5)Rev. March 3, 2026Today's Reading: 1 Thessalonians 4:1-7 or Romans 5:1-5Daily Lectionary: Genesis 21:1-21; Mark 6:35-56“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. Through! What a tiny preposition, but that preposition is Good News for you! Paul states that “we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1b) Peace with God is not through our brains and brawn, our achievements and accomplishments, our degrees and pedigrees, likes and looks. Peace with God is not even through how good we are as Lutherans or how good we have Luther's Small Catechism memorized. Although it's not a bad idea to store those words in your heart. Peace with God is through our Lord Jesus Christ. Period. No one or nothing else. The Jesus who lived the perfect life we couldn't live. The Jesus who died the godforsaken death we deserved to die. The Jesus who was raised for our justification. Yes, you are justified–declared enough–all for Jesus' sake! This is Good News that's out of this World for everyone in this World! We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ! There's more! Always more with the Good News! It's no trickle of Good News but an endless gushing fountain! Paul tells us that “through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand.” (Romans 5:2a) His grace and not our grit got us into God's House! What undeserved kindness and favor from God our heavenly Father! You need not doubt what God thinks of you. By faith in Jesus, you stand in God's House as His beloved Child. Your Baptism assures you of this. Paul encourages us to remain in the Father's House, a house that has grace as the floor, ceiling, and walls. In this grace place, “we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” (Romans 5:2b) We look forward to our glorious resurrection on the Last Day when everything wrong will be made right, beautiful, true, and good! As we wait with Holy Spirit-ed confidence for the great-and-glorious Last Day, there will be pressures. You've felt them before, haven't you? Paul tells us that we get to rejoice in the pressures of life because they produce endurance, that is, a hunger and thirst for God's grace to sustain and shelter us 24/7. And endurance produces character, that is, we don't despair over the pressures, but depend on God, who is leading us by the hand through the pressures into Paradise. And character produces hope; that is, no matter what our eyes see, we know we will outlast the pressures, all because of that little preposition “though”! Through our Lord Jesus Christ! Yes, through Jesus, we have peace with God today, tomorrow, and forevermore! In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. In God, my faithful God, I trust when dark my road; Great woes may overtake me, Yet He will not forsake me. My troubles He can alter; His hand lets nothing falter. (LSB 745:1)Rev. In this part of the book of Mark, we are just days away from Jesus's death. Jesus gives his disciples and us the important reminder that earthly things don't matter. One day they will all be gone. Jesus also warns us to be ready for the Last Day, because whether or not we live to see judgment day, our end will one day come. We'll talk about Mary, who anointed Jesus with an expensive perfume, and be reminded that having a heart of adoration toward Jesus is a beautiful thing, even if the people around us don't understand.

Ever wish your inner critic would finally give you a break? Sean Fargo closes our seven-day journey by teaching a simple, reliable practice that replaces self-attack with grounded compassion. We start where warmth is easiest—thinking of someone or an animal that naturally opens the heart—then repeat four steady phrases: may you be safe, may you be healthy, may you be happy, may you live with ease. From that genuine warmth, we turn the same phrases inward and, yes, even toward the inner critic itself.Across this guided session, we explore why loving-kindness is more than feel-good language; it's a trainable response that reshapes the brain and nervous system. By pairing intention with repetition, the practice becomes a habit you can call on the next time you make a mistake, fall short of a goal, or feel the urge to spiral. Sean offers practical cues—eyes open or closed, breath linked to phrases, starting with an easy person—to make the ritual stick without forcing emotion. You'll learn how wishing safety and ease disarms shame, how happiness loosens perfectionism, and how ease keeps problem-solving clear and creative. We also step into the advanced edge: extending goodwill to the parts we resist—the inner critic and even people we dislike. This move isn't about excusing harm; it's about reducing inner conflict so you can set boundaries without carrying the weight of resentment. Listeners often report less rumination, faster repair after missteps, and a gentler, more courageous approach to growth. By the end, you'll have a compact script you can use anytime to soften harsh self-talk and build resilience from the inside out.If this practice helps, subscribe, share the episode with a friend who needs a kinder inner voice, and leave a review to tell us which phrase landed most for you.Support the showCertify To Teach Mindfulness: Certify.MindfulnessExercises.com Email: Sean@MindfulnessExercises.com Mindfulness Exercises with Sean Fargo is a practical, grounded mindfulness podcast for people who want meditation to actually help in real life. Bobby shared some bad news with Amy and why her wallet might be taking a big hit. We talked about a man who chose to do one year in prison over returning the $1.1M mistakenly sent to his bank account. Would we go to jail for that amount of money? We talked about a wild story involving a couple who is suing a fertility clinic after genetic testing confirmed their baby is not related to either of them due to an IVF mix up. In the Anonymous Inbox, Bobby tries to save a friendship over an awkward money situation where one friend gifted money but now wants it paid back. Noah's first action upon leaving the ark is a sacrifice of thanksgiving to God for the fulfillment of His promises. This worship of faith is pleasing to the LORD, who responds with further divine service to His creation. Even though He knows that man's heart remains sinful, the LORD promises that He will never again curse the earth or destroy every living creature as He has done, but He will instead cause the seasons to continue until the Last Day. God blesses Noah and His family in this renewed creation, and He provides that they may now eat meat. Such consumption must not be done flippantly or idolatrously, but rather deliberately and with thanksgiving to God. Human life is God's gift, originally created in His image, and is not ours to destroy, but ours to preserve. Rev. Jared Nies, pastor at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School in Lapeer, MI, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Genesis 8:20-9:7. To learn more about St. Paul's Lutheran, visit stpaul-lapeer.org. “In the Beginning” is a series on Sharper Iron that studies Genesis. The first book of Moses sets the stage for God's entire story of salvation. As we learn the beginning of the story, God prepares us to receive the fulfillment of the story: Jesus Christ, the Offspring of the woman who has crushed our enemy's head. Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Submit comments or questions to: listener@kfuo.org

https://wels2.blob.core.windows.net/daily-devotions/20260122dev.mp3 Listen to Devotion “It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth.” Isaiah 49:6 The Lamb Who Died for All When John the Baptist saw Jesus coming toward where he was baptizing in the Jordan River, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” But what does it mean that he took away the sin “of the world”? The beginning of the Bible tells us how God created the entire human race through one man, Adam. All eight billion of us, spread around the world, are descended from him—all the way to the last baby born just before Christ returns on the Last Day. Unfortunately, just as Adam has passed down his human genes to us, we also inherit our sinful nature from him. We see evidence of that sin everywhere we look—including within ourselves. The Bible says that “sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way, death came to all people, because all sinned” (Romans 5:12). But Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Not only the sin of some or just a few, but every single descendant of Adam and Eve. The prophet Isaiah foretold what Jesus would do: “We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6). Note that all have sinned, and the sins of all have been laid on Christ. God’s Word is clear about the extent of Jesus’ work: “He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” (1 John 2:2). That includes you, of course! Your sins were also placed on Jesus as he suffered for all. Whoever you are, however insignificant in the eyes of the world, lost among the masses of humanity, you, too, are loved by God and redeemed by the blood of his Son. https://wels2.blob.core.windows.net/daily-devotions/20260122dev.mp3 Listen to Devotion “It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. Prayer: Jesus, Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world—including my own. Have mercy on me! Amen. Daily Devotions is brought to you by WELS. https://wels2.blob.core.windows.net/daily-devotions/20260109dev.mp3 Listen to Devotion When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:13-14 God Made the Down Payment How do you go about paying for a new house? You deposit a portion of the cost for the house up front, right? You make a down payment. However, even though you still haven’t paid in full, you already get to move into the house. You get to live in it and enjoy it. You get to make it your own. You don’t have to wait to pay the full amount to make the house your home. Of course, many years later, when you one day make the final payment on your home, there’s a special joy and satisfaction in knowing the home is completely owned by you. There’s no one else with a claim on it at all anymore. Maybe buying a house can help you understand what God is telling you here in Ephesians chapter 1. When you believe in Jesus, you’re marked with God’s seal—the Holy Spirit himself. The Holy Spirit enters your heart as God’s down payment and guarantees your full future redemption to come. Before reaching your ultimate salvation on the Last Day when you sit at your Lord’s feet in heaven, already now, by faith, the Holy Spirit dwells in your heart. That means you now get to enjoy the blessings of God: to taste his forgiveness, to have a hope that presses you forward, to know a love that has no limit. This is just the down payment that guarantees so much more. Your eternal salvation is sealed already by the Spirit dwelling in you. God guarantees a future for you. The Holy Spirit has made your heart his home, and that means you are God’s special possession today and in eternity. Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, I thank you for making my heart your home and for guaranteeing me a future with you and the Father and the Son. That you would do this, even for a sinner like me, shouts your praise and glory to the ends of the earth. Amen. Daily Devotions is brought to you by WELS.
