The union of our states got an update from president biden. We're here to talk about it with many insights. Exactly 1/2 of the hosts actually watched the state of the union speech before recording an episode about it. So all things considered, at least we uploaded something.

We get some late breaking news that Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy got the boot. Something the Freedom Caucus and Democrats could agree on. In a new attempt at a format for the show, we're checking the news, eventually, after some thoughts on Biden, Trump, whip-its, and football. Beto vs Abbott is a Texas story we'll be following even if they scheduled their debate on a Friday Texas football night. And of course Scott covers more LA Rams news than anyone wants to hear.

We don't have the audio from the hearing itself so you can just hear the bits where Scott and/or Karl had something to say during the 8th January 6 Committee Hearing that took place July 21 2022. There was also a lady in the corner of the screen the entire time blocking the subtitles with sign language translation for the hearing impaired. You may think men don't have much to say on abortion but some guys (and one woman) on the Supreme Court just overturned Roe v Wade. We're not actually that knowledgeable about abortion, and surprisingly, neither are a lot of other people talking about it. This one got started fast when Biden got under Karl's collar with his comments about hurricanes and covid vaccination. Is it a lie to call someone a racist? Is it a lie to call an election result stolen? Are they the same? These questions are just the beginning. The voices you'll hear after that are a couple Texas women who are not happy about the new Texas abortion restrictions. And neither are we. Agreement all around! Scott finally watched Soaked in Bleach after Karl's recommendation and gives his report of the documentary and poo poo's most of the "conspiracy" theories in it. Oh, and the Longhorns and Rams are lookin' good in our sports report.

Karl's in rural New Mexico where wifi doesn't quite reach, so even though our opening covid discussion is riveting, we'll understand if you have to skip ahead 20 minutes to when we got a better connection and Scott finally finished eating. Karl is saving the planet with his new job. Scott is trying to save the planet but his Chevy Bolt is combustible. Karl cancelled his LA trip but somehow still had time to go to Chicago. The Longhorns have a new QB this week. Remembering George Bush's wars. Remembering Norm Macdonald. And Scott and Karl show appreciation for each other and the perspective that they have shown each other over these many episodes that no one else even listens to.

This one is pretty self explanatory. Karl's fiance Marissa joins to discuss the totally smooth transition of power as we pull out of Afghanistan. And we stay on topic for at least half the show. Stick around for our thoughts on partisanship from Ted Cruz to AOC to Kurt Cobain of course.

Every week there's covid news and sure we talk about that, but what about the ten commandments? What's new with them? Not much but we're still covering everything the other podcasts aren't. Both Scott and Karl have double shots of vaccine pumping through their systems. We're ready to take over the world or just share our opinions on vaccine statistics, Bill Maher, the Derek Chauvin verdict, gun violence, and Scott's hiking buddy Kamala Harris. And since masks have been at the root of so many Scott & Karl debates, we'll be doing some actual research next week to figure out once and for all the effectiveness of masks during Covid.
