For our farewell episode, we discuss why we decided to end Zion's Lost after 3 years and over 150 episodes. We share some memorable experiences we have had and episodes that still keep us up at night. We also talk about a few cases we wish we could have covered, but couldn't due to privacy reasons. In 1989, a successful mother and social worker, Annette Hill, left her home at about 8pm, never to return. A robbery and murder gone wrong led to police to some of her belongings, but the suspect was never charged with any crime relating to her disappearance. It's what fun is! Utah's family-owned amusement park, Lagoon, has an interesting history dating back to 1886. Lagoon has hosted famous bands, has original wood-carved animals on the carousel, and the infamous ‘White Roller Coaster' just celebrated its 100th birthday. This week we are discussing two missing persons. Both disappeared in 2020 in the same general area of North Ogden. Etzil Cortez Trujillo was last seen by their broken down vehicle on the North Ogden Divide. Shelby Campbell left for a hike during a heavy windstorm and no trace of her or her belongings have been found. This week, we are continuing with commemorating Pride Month by discussing a murder and an assault. In November of 1988, Gordon Church stopped at a 7-11 for a pack of cigarettes before meeting friends for dinner. In 1896, human bones and teeth were found inside a church furnace in Salt Lake City. When the reverend, Francis Hermans, could not be located, police suspected him from the start. However, when the details of his life and his history of wives disappearing or suddenly dying, the story got more scandalous and hit the newspapers not only in the U.S, but internationally as well. This week we explore two missing persons cases that are not connected, but involve endangered and at-risk individuals. At 19 years old, Timothy Scott Parry walked out of his house, never to be seen again. In 2001, 68 year old Johnnie Mae left her sisters home to go to the grocery store. Her unoccupied vehicle was found about 100 miles away from her home. After Lauren’s murder, The McCluskey’s filed a $56 millon lawsuit against the University of Utah. After breaking things off with Melvin Rowland, Lauren McCluskey couldn’t escape her abuser and stalker. He used spoof phones to call and harass her, looked into her windows at night, tried to lure her out of her apartment, and he even blackmailed her for $1,000. In fall 2018, Lauren McCluskey was a student at the University of Utah on a Track and Field scholarship. While on the phone with her mother, she was walking back to her dorm when she was attacked. Later, she was found dead in the backseat of a vehicle on campus. Ella Young was a wife and mother of 2, including a 4 month old baby boy. She loved hiking in Hobble Creek Canyon with her husband and their sons. When she left on September morning in 1953 to go get a can of corn for their supper that night, she never returned home. Her family was worried and started looking at the place she loved the most, Hobble Creek Canyon. There, they found her car abandoned with her shoes in it. Did Ella leave voluntarily to start a new life? In 1983, Tommy was just 9 years old when he was removed from his mother's care and placed in a foster home in Thatcher, Utah. One morning, he went out to feed the dog and never came back in the home. His body was found about a month later. With several other children going missing and being murdered in SLC and Pocatello, ID, police wondered if Tommy's case was related. On July 4th, 1975, Nancy was working her shift at the Fina gas station on Highway 89 in East Layton. Her supervisor arrived to take over at 5:30pm, but Nancy was nowhere to be found. She was thought to be a Ted Bundy victim, but he adamantly denies involvement and there isn’t any evidence linking her to him. Is Bundy to blame for her disappearance? On New Years Eve 1928, 12 year-old June Nelson was walking home after leaving the family’s cafe that evening. When she didn’t return home, family and neighbors went searching. In March 2019, Matthew Broncho left his family home in Fort Hall, ID but didn't tell anyone where he was headed. He had his cellphone, wallet, $250, and his beloved dog, Afa. The mystery of D.B Cooper is one of the most intriguing unsolved mysteries in the world. But what many don't know, is that in April of 1972, just 6 months later, Richard McCoy Jr. from Provo hijacked a plane from Denver. He demanded 4 parachutes and $500,0000. Many speculate and some are even convinced that McCoy wasn't a copycat hijacker, but D.B. In 1928, newlyweds Glen and Bessie Hyde set off on an adventure of river running the Grand Canyon. In 1984, Bradley Perry was a 22 year old college student and engaged to be married. He was kindhearted, a hard-worker, and a friend to all. When he was found dead at the gas station he worked at, the community was shocked. In the late night hours during the summer of 1965, Tanya Kay Weber was dropped off at her home after helping at a wedding reception. Her family was out of town and when she accidentally left her purse in her friends car, she was unable to get into her home. The next morning, her lifeless body was discovered just a block away. In the summer of 1955, Jocelyn Hickenlooper was ready to celebrate her 23rd birthday. Just the day before, she was seen walking away from her home with two unknown people. Her body would be discovered in Parley's Canyon 16 days later. A developmentally delayed acquaintance of hers was questioned by detectives until he confessed. Guy Michael Johnston, a father of two, was being a gentlemen escorting a woman home after a night at the bar. The night turned deadly, and his body has never been found. In an unrelated case, 20 year old Jay Kelly Tincher lost his life after a stranger couldn't take a joke.
