Rich is very upset so we let him rant to avoid taking the mood into Mrs WFC2's birthday evening, Uncle Ron is in a car somewhere in Florida and is as you might imagine, Wendover wants to "two up" which was and wasn't an innuendo, Danny says play the kids at Southampton whilst Nellie who is usually so positive feels really flat, not having seen the result or the performance coming and Charlie asks should we be looking at the future with more wariness!COYH!!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. Alan chooses to focus on the positives in that Pollock is getting his chance and seems intent on proving his worth and cementing a place in the starting eleven and looking at the away form which is unbeaten in seven! Pete calls out the number of central midfielders is below the “two players for each position” threshold leaving TDB and Kone looking very leggy which whilst still working hard did affect the quality of their use of the ball.Wendover agrees that the players looked tired and asks why the transfer window has not been used to inject some fresh legs and energy into the squad. Always keen on a transfer window, Wendover fears that the hype over Dennis suggests that he might be the only incoming in the window (with 24 hours to go as we spoke).Caity joins us and points out that both Sema and Dennis are forced to play because of the lack of depth when they are clearly no where near 100% fit, Paul observes how once again Ben Hamer has won us a point with another outstanding display and asks why top players can play two games in a week and not look as tired. He further asks if our way of playing is further exacerbating the psychological element of “feeling” tired. Not convinced by either Bayo or Rajovic with the window closing asks what have Manga, Giaretta and Nani been doing? Paul is also dismissive of talk of building for next year as parachute money will be gone as loaned against already – might we be forced to sell Asprilla & Andrews and reverting to the Watford style of existence we had prior to the Pozzo takeover? However Paul is convinced that Val is, for all his faults, the right man to lead us next season too.Uncle Ron joins us and says if Gino has lost interest or if Watford has fallen down his list of priorities that he should sell and compares our situation to Newcastle under Mike Ashley. John joins us and offers “ying” to Ron's “yang” (or vice versa) and looks on the positive side and looks through the squad and thinks we have enough until Pete points out the midfield numbers are below the level of 2 for each position.COYH!!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. Brett having sat with Pete during the game and discuss what was so good but where it went wrong with the substitutions and a first sight of Dennis shows us that he is going to need to get up to speed PDQ!Wendover as always is keen to see us do some business in the transfer window to build on a very solid foundation of a team. PART ONE RichWFC2 joins us after an afternoon of remembering not just Graham Taylor but also Chesterfields John Duncan and Captain Tom Sawyer with an emotional contribution from Luther and Tom's father Martin accompanied by Tom's mum Sue. A poignant day.Looking at the football Rich calls out the differences in the two halves and asks if the “TDB at right-back experiment” could please end now. Playing against (an admittedly very good) 5th tier side he bemoans the lack of effort displayed in that first 45 minutes. Uncle Ron joins us and calls out Daniel Bachmanns performance and calls for fullback replacements in the market as well as calling for two to play upfront at home and sees hope for Rajovic if he were part of a pair.Wendover joins us impressed with Chesterfield with Mrs W and finally tells us about the time he tried to cook – it's a sizzling tale of fractions, water, Uncle Bens mix and oxo cubes!!! Mike joins us after a Voices of The Vic gathering of the clan in the bunker earlier and commends TDB for his performance in midfield just as we need a midfielder as we missed Kayembe in the first half.Blue Cheese Brett tells us about Argentinian Hornets, the word “munted” and tales of Japanese dentists being an analogy for todays game – but it's Brett so who really knows what t was about!!!???COYH!!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. Paul joins us on a club coach in Plymouth where a motor cyclist is trying to have a fight with a coach! Jason also having been in Plymouth once again delighted to have been entertained to something close to a basketball game!! A shorter Boxing Day Spaces and differing opinions are at the heart of whatever this thing is. Here everyone was frustrated but after a series of improving performances a few of the potential weaknesses all came home to roost.Wendover picks over a disappointing set of performances but hopes the transfer window might be used to bring in fresh faces and legs in January. Sean, having called out Bristol City's Mehmeti when at Wycombe looks over the set pieces and areas of open play where we were ponderous collectively and individually. We say hello to Boyd for the first time in a few weeks and he calls out our failings but hails Bristol City's attitude and tactics on the day and agrees that the reaction from the manager and squad on Friday against Stoke is now of pivotal importance. The lack of movement from Rajovic is discussed again along with his lack of contribution in open play.Justin joins for a few moments before putting Boxing Day Football behind before Ant joins us with a suggestion that we should “think twice” and everything gets a bit Celine Dion-esque for a Titanic of a game but hoping that the game was a blip of a performance but takes responsibility for the result as for the first time in months he put a bet on Watford to win. Ant again goes rogue and starts asking Pete questions!!! We ask if we are asking too much in expecting consistency from Ryan Andrews so early into his first team career.Ellie joins us to say what is needed which is experienced players and squad depth neither of which we really have, Shane joins us with dwindling levels of disappointment but rising levels of champagne cutting it out and disagrees with Ellie and Ismaels selection upfront of Rajovic, calls out Asprilla and Sierralta's roles helping out Ryan Andrews in the first half. Finally, Charlie joins us from beneath “Man Flu” and points out that in his eyes there were no positives and that we have a regular habit of conceding the first goal and after doing this a number of times it was always going to catch us out eventually.COYH and Merry Christmas to all! This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. Wendover is cock-a-hoop, Vinnie wonders why we don't start with our better players as in his view Asprilla is the best player we have, Justin calls out the injury record having improved with rotation as playing a pivotal part in the season so far. Rich denies Mrs WFC2 dinner out as we didn't score 5 and asks if Val is a lucky manager - prompting Pete to bang on about Napoleon (it made no sense then and it makes no sense now either). John P joins us with his Dad "Mr Parslow Senior" on his 88th birthday which means he might receive about 11 copies of the Elton John book between now and Christmas! Happy 91st birthday to "Mrs Eckaslike Senior" as well! We finish off with the "Northwest Cheese-wagon" as Steve, Mal and Mike use the power of cheese to overcome year 3 of the 600 year Nigerian curse - Steve does the talking as Mal drives and neither Steve or Mike trust him to multi-task, and calls out Hamer, hard work, determination and the spirit of togetherness as the team came over and celebrated with the fans!!Merry Christmas all - COYH!!!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. While not much is left of the town, it's still a historic and interesting place to check out. We talk about that, other things we saw along the way as well as the 3rd anniversary of our podcast.  This also wraps up our journey out west to Wendover. An extraordinary discovery has been unearthed by archaeologists working alongside the HS2 rail project. The find, made at an undisclosed location near Wendover in the Chilterns, consists of a 5th-6th century burial site that has been described as one of the most important post-Roman, early medieval discoveries of our lifetime. It offers the chance to see more clearly a part of British history that has been hidden from us until now. If there was a real, historical King Arthur, this is the part of history he's hiding within. In this special episode, join our very own Dan Snow and Gone Medieval host Matt Lewis as they chat to the team behind the dig about some of their revelatory finds, and begin to see the people behind them, and the way they may have lived their lives.A special thanks to HS2, INFRA and Fusion for giving History Hit special access behind the scenes! The Senior Producer on this episode was Elena Guthrie. The Producer was Rob Weinberg. It was edited and mixed by Aidan Lonergan. If you'd like to learn more, we have hundreds of history documentaries, ad-free podcasts and audiobooks at History Hit - subscribe today!
