The Vorl are now released for Antares 2. Episode 5 completes the 5-part radio play 'Revenge', and starts with an overview of the Vorl development, what they are and how to use their very different capabilities on the table. Episode 5 continues the story of 'Revenge' with 'The Chamber of Victory' - the reaction Fartok receives when he returns to Gharon Prime. The Ghar clones are played by Tim Bancroft and the narrator and podcaster was also Tim Bancroft.
In this next season of 'Nostalgia Hits Differently', James and Imo are off to revisit the 'Wizard Boy Wonder' of the 2000s: Harry Potter. In this first episode, the critics return to the first two instalments of the saga. They discover that the 'Boy Who Lived' seems to have a death-wish in 'The Philosopher's Stone' (2001); why prejudice is okay when it's systemic in 'The Chamber of Secrets' (2002), and how Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry couldn't be more of a health and safety violation. This is the first of a four part retrospective overanalysing the themes, character development and gaping plot-holes across the eight films of the 'Harry Potter' franchise (2001-2011).
After the thrilling cliffhanger of Chapter 11 of 'The Chamber of Secrets' we jump into this chapter wondering how Harry is going to get out of THIS predicament -- only to be let down. But we get up again as the kids go on more fun, children's adventure hijinks like: drugging other kids, stealing identities, consorting with the wizard alt-right - and more! Of course Myke has to bring up how this chapter reminds him of Animorphs, for very obvious reasons and we listen to TWO whole Wizard Rock songs! Five chapters in to 'The Chamber of Secrets' and things really start to soar for our Harry and his friends! Go on this ride with us as we read 'The Whomping Willow' and talk about how kids are dumb, how a flying road trip could seem to suck, who we'd F, Marry, and Kill out of all the famous trees in fantasy and more! We also talk about the newest member of our family, why you should watch the West Wing, and also about more Wizard Rock! You can send us a voice message question as well, at magiclessmyke@gmail.com or find us on Instagram and Twitter@magiclessmyke. Make sure you include your Hogwarts House in your messages for Listener House Cup points!
If you're sick and tired of us being sick and tired, then we're really sorry. Luckily, chapter three of 'The Chamber of Secrets' really kicks it into high gear! Literally! Thanks to the shenanigans of Fred, George, Ron and the charm of Molly and Arthur, we're in good spirits talking about 'The Burrow', what we'd enchant in the real world if we had magic, gnomes, and what a wizarding family really looks like. Don't worry though, we aren't too sick to go on tangents about getting dogs, buying cars, and figuring out which Weasley's we are.
We begin our journey into 'The Chamber of Secrets' in what might be our signature Magicless Myke way, by barely talking about Harry Potter! Just kidding. But for this 10 page chapter we may have went on a few early tangents. Marian talks about her trip to the Philippines, Filipino folklore and magic, and being haunted! Then, Myke tries to remember literally anything from Chamber of Secrets. If there's anything coming up in this book that you want us to talk about on air, email us your questions - either written or recorded - to magiclessmyke@gmail.com, or tweet us @magiclessmyke and follow us on Insta @magiclessmyke!
In this episode, we (and Ron) get to learn a little bit about the title of this book aka The Chamber of Secrets. But before that, a whole bunch of stuff happens:- Harry and Ron get assigned detentions. McGonagall smartly tailors the detentions - Harry gets assigned time with his favoritest Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor and Ron has to clean the trophy room, in the Muggle way, with Filch. Talk about fun. During his detention, Harry hears a disembodied voice but can't be sure where it was coming from or who it could be.- Harry almost gets another detention from Filch for dripping mud in the corridor but is saved by Nearly Headless Nick. Nick also invites him to his 500th Deathday Party on Halloween; Harry agrees to attend, with Hermione and Ron, out of sheer gratitude.- As per Ron's prediction, the Deathday party turns out to be dead depressing so they split midway to go back to the feast. Harry hears the disembodied voice again in the corridor (Ron and Hermione can't), except this time it's saying a lot of scary stuff like 'Rip. Tear. Kill.' and 'I smell blood'. Harry runs towards the voice, a confused Ron and Hermione in tow, and end up in front of some writing on a wall ('The Chamber of Secrets is open. Enemies of the heir, beware') and a petrified cat - Mrs. Norris. The entire school shows up just after they do and catches them at the scene of the crime.- Filch accuses Harry of killing his cat because Harry figured out he's a Squib. But thankfully, Dumbledore believes that Harry had nothing to do with the incident and gets him off the hook. Hermione remembers reading about the Chamber of Secrets but she doesn't have her copy of Hogwarts, A History to refresh her memory and all the copies have been borrowed from the library. So, she interrupts Professor Binns during a History of Magic lecture and asks him. That's how Ron learns about the Chamber of Secrets.HARRY POTTER STORIESIn this episode, this segment features Pavithra Muthalagan, a friend and listener of the podcast. If you are interested in sharing your story with us, just record yourself telling the story of how you starting reading the books and send it to mimblewimblepodcast@gmail.com.PREPARATIONYou can prepare for this episode by readingChapter 7: Mudbloods and Murmurs (from when Ron started throwing up slugs)Chapter 8: The Deathday PartyChapter 9: The Writing on the Wallof Harry Potter and the Chamber of SecretsYou can also listen to this podcast on iTunes, Google Podcast, or any other favorite podcast app. Just search for Mimblewimble - The Harry Potter Podcast.NOTESThe wikipedia entry for a Kelpie.
