Maddy, a registered nurse and mother of three from the Central Coast of New South Wales, takes us through her complete birth journey. Her story beautifully illustrates how subsequent births can offer profound healing opportunities, especially with the right support team and birth education. Maddy's first birth was an induction which resulted in significant perineal trauma, and postpartum haemorrhage. However, her second and third births through Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) care demonstrate the transformative power of continuity of care, informed choice, and trusting your body's ability to birth. This week we're heading back to the BOOOOONE yard. Some might call it a temple. Officially it's called 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. We get into the upsetting nature of this movie, British references we didn't get the first time around, what is the theme, and the importance of bringing snacks to a hangout. In corporate development and finance, the excitement of an acquisition often masks the underlying risks. Financial Due Diligence (FDD) is the structured investigation into a company's total financial health. It is the crucial "forensic" step that moves a deal from celebration to investigation, determining whether a transaction is a winning strategy or a multi-billion dollar mistake. The 5 Pillars of Financial Due DiligenceTo assess risk and validate value, finance teams focus on five critical areas in the financial data room:1. Quality of Earnings (QoE)This is the bedrock of FDD. It separates "accounting profits" from repeatable, sustainable core performance. Teams look for Normalization Adjustments, stripping away one-time legal settlements or non-market salaries to find the true Adjusted EBITDA.2. Revenue and Customer AnalysisHigh revenue numbers can be deceiving. Analysts dig into:Customer Concentration Risk: If one customer accounts for 40% of revenue, the valuation must be discounted due to instability.Churn Rates: Understanding why customers leave and how long they stay.Revenue Quality: Differentiating between recurring contracts and one-time projects.3. Working Capital and Cash Flow HealthThis pillar determines if paper profits convert to usable cash. Red flags include:Accounts Receivable Aging: Customers paying slower and slower, masking potential bad debt.Inventory Turnover: Massive buildups that suck cash out of the business without guaranteed future sales.4. Debt and Off-Balance Sheet ItemsLurking "landmines" can blow up deal economics. Analysts search for:Pending litigation or unknown tax exposures.Underfunded pension liabilities.Environmental cleanup costs.5. Forecast AssessmentEvery target company presents a "conservative" growth story. FDD stress-tests these assumptions by modeling the unit economics (e.g., Customer Acquisition Cost vs. Lifetime Value) and building conservative "downside" scenarios. The Role of FP&A: The Bridge to IntegrationIf you are in FP&A, your role is pivotal. You are the bridge between historical numbers and the forward-looking plan. Your team must:Tear apart growth claims: If a company claims 20% growth, what is the required hiring plan and CapEx?Scrutinize Synergies: Cost synergies (office closures) are reliable; revenue synergies (cross-selling) are highly speculative and should be heavily discounted in models.Final Strategic ThoughtFDD is not a box-checking exercise; it is the firewall that protects shareholder value. Master it by prioritizing the Quality of Earnings and never letting deal enthusiasm override forensic investigation.

Episode 5063: Populist Tear For Economics; SCOTUS Hearing On Transgender Athletes
//The Wire//2300Z January 13, 2026////ROUTINE////BLUF: LOS ANGELES TERRORIST RELEASED ON BAIL AFTER BEING CHARGED ONLY WITH A MISDEMEANOR. SOMALI FRAUD INVESTIGATIONS CONTINUE IN MAINE. RIOTS CONTINUE IN MINNEAPOLIS.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------HomeFront-Minneapolis: The nightly riots continued yesterday evening, with unrest largely centering around the Whipple Federal Building. Tear gas has been deployed at this location daily, as rioters routinely try to block vehicles from entering/exiting the facility's Entry Control Point (ECP). Overnight, the perimeter at the Federal Building was expanded and fortified with more fencing. Throughout the city, most of the kinetic activity has been confined to E 34th Street, with tear gas and flashbangs being used regularly in a defensive role, to prevent rioters from physically assaulting ICE agents during arrests.Maine: Investigations into Somali fraud have continued to expand. In the town of Lewiston, a Somalian man at the center of recent scandal has resigned a few days after being sworn in. Iman Osman was reportedly elected to office last month, even though he had been indicted by a federal grand jury for stealing firearms.Analyst Comment: The Osman case has been developing for a while. Scandal first arose after citizens realized that he committed fraud on his campaign paperwork regarding his official residence. His official residence as per campaign paperwork is actually a vacant building that had been condemned because it had been used as a meth lab, so no one can verify that he actually lives in the district. Yesterday, the other members of the City Council voted to investigate his residency status, and Osman's only act as a City Councilor was to be the only vote against the investigation into himself. After the votes came out 6-1 against him, he resigned.California: The man who carried out the vehicle ramming attack at the Iranian protest in Los Angeles has been identified as Calor Madanescht. As the attack only wounded two people (both of whom refused medical care at the scene), the assailant has only been charged with reckless driving. Madanescht's bond has been set at zero dollars (the standard for misdemeanors in California), and he was released from jail Monday afternoon.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: In their own press release, the LAPD admits that he intended to ram the crowd and police officers, forcing several of them to jump out of the way (thus confirming deadly intent). It must be noted that the details of this case are pretty sketchy overall, considering how the attacker did not cause nearly as much damage as he could have. The odd statements found on the assailant's social media page, and the fact that he claims to be an Iranian refugee who happens to have an incredibly non-Iranian name, all add to the strangeness of this incident. However, just because this guy is the most ineffective terrorist in recent memory doesn't mean that he isn't still a terrorist. And now, he's back on the street at a time when Iranian protests are continuing throughout Los Angeles, and tensions remain palpably high in the Middle East.Any time that tensions escalate overseas regarding a hot-button issue, these tensions nearly always are mirrored within the American homeland, which often manifest in attacks or at minimum clashes between protest groups. In this case, the FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force are investigating the attack, which is a moot point if the terrorist has been released by the local authorities. As anti-regime protests (of varying size) are fairly regular throughout Los Angeles, it's quite likely that the original assailant himself, but more likely others who will see that he got away with this, will conduct copycat vehicle ramming attacks over the next few days. Whether or not any terrorist is willing to capitalize on this is anyone's guess, but the situation

This podcast episode is sponsored by AVEO Oncology. The product information in this podcast is intended only for US residents. This episode features a real patient and their care partner, highlighting their experiences with a treatment option for advanced kidney cancer. Please note that the patient's experience is their own and individual results may vary. This podcast is not intended as medical advice. Only a doctor can decide what medications may be appropriate for you. The patient and the caregiver were paid for their time and expenses. I'm honored to welcome Scott and Katie to the program. Scott's journey began in July 2021, when he started experiencing symptoms that ultimately led to a diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma, resulting in the removal of his right kidney. At first, no additional treatments were needed. But in January 2023, after a biopsy of a lesion in his lung, Scott learned that his cancer had returned as stage IV metastatic renal cell carcinoma. Today, we're joined by Scott and his wife Katie, who share their journey with renal cell carcinoma – the challenges they've faced, the lessons they've learned, and the support they've discovered along the way. Their story is not only about facing a difficult diagnosis, but also about the strength of partnership, perseverance, and hope. Through their experience, Scott and Katie remind us that no one has to face kidney cancer alone—there's a community of understanding and shared strength every step of the way. Whether you're a patient, a care partner, or simply someone seeking hope and information, we believe you'll find inspiration and connection in Scott and Katie's story. What if restoring impossible relationships just required knowing what's on the other side? In this episode, Greg Stephens shares how 24 years as a master trainer for Crucial Conversations taught him that breakthroughs aren't permanent until they're practiced over and over. That realization led him to shift from training to coaching, creating a six-month program where executives and emerging leaders have conversations they never thought possible. His specialty? Seeing relationships like some people see music, orchestrating conversations where people show up as their best. Greg also reveals why his mentor Bill Solomon intentionally made his welding job miserable before college, teaching him the resilience he'd need to push through Baylor surrounded by wealthy students. Most powerfully, he explains "emotional accounting": why putting off a Friday conversation until Monday doesn't just ruin your weekend, it costs you exponentially more on the back end. [00:04:44] What Alignment Resources Does Company goal: everyone eats at the trough (trainers train, coaches coach, sales people sell, speakers speak) Greg's specialty lives in areas of difficult relationships, everyone has at least one Works with relationships that seem impossible Application of Crucial Conversations tools for talking when stakes are high [00:05:40] Twenty-Four Years Teaching Crucial Conversations Was master trainer in Crucial Conversations, taught it for 24 years starting in 2001 Before the book was written, it was called "Path to Dialogue" then "Dialogue Smarts" One of first master trainers, stayed until January this year when he released his book Got to travel the world, train on stage, do keynote talks [00:06:00] Why Breakthroughs Need Practice People would take class, have great experience, have aha breakthrough moments Found that breakthroughs aren't permanent until they're practiced over and over If you want permanence around a breakthrough, you've gotta go do something That piece was lacking, so decided to shift business to coaching [00:06:20] The Six Month Coaching Program About six month program, 20 different weeks Teaching executives and emerging leaders (ages 21-28) Wanted to teach younger generation what executives said "I wish I'd learned this 20, 30 years ago" Most people say "I've had a coach before, this is nothing like it" [00:07:00] Building Up and Completing Relationships Build people up in relationships, let them go back and improve, clean up, or complete relationships Complete doesn't mean never see person again (could, but doesn't have to) Can work next to person and have completed relationship around an issue It just doesn't show up for you anymore because you know where you stand, said what you need to say [00:07:40] The Skills Most People Don't Have Coaches and mentors say "you need to go have this conversation," but how? There are skill sets you need, the application of them, and how to make adjustments People talk about psychological safety but don't know how to create it What to do when your emotions take hold or other person's emotions take hold [00:08:20] How to Really Listen When You Disagree How do you begin to really listen when you disagree with everything being said? How do you get on the right topic? Most people don't know how to dissect and break down conversations Greg helps dissect it and break it down for people [00:08:40] Executives on Retainer Some executives don't want to learn all skill sets, just want someone to do it for them Working with groups on retainer where they call when they have big problem They lay out background, what they've done, then Greg lays out plan for conversation Role plays exactly what might happen, clients say "it was like you were right there" [00:10:00] When People Don't Show Up as Their Best Sometimes people have breakdown, don't show up as their best, come back saying "I really blew it" Great learning point, it needed to be this way Limiting belief: thinking it's over when conversation goes badly When you know these skills, you can go back over and over and reset [00:11:20] What Drives Greg Most Watching people restore relationships they thought were just not possible Worked with police captains on issue, individual conversations showed no one thought it could be done Scheduled for four sessions, had breakthrough after first session One person took responsibility for their part, allowed everyone else to take responsibility [00:13:00] It's Still Hard Even With Skills People say "you have the skill, you should be able to do it" Greg still doesn't like having difficult conversations Doesn't want to have the conversation, but wants what's on the other side "Stop looking at the conversation right now. Let's look at what you want beyond that." [00:14:00] Work is Easy, Personal is Hard When working with businesses, always eventually get to their personal lives Those are the much more difficult conversations Work is easy, we all want to make more money and enjoy work Hardest ones are family businesses with so much emotion and unspoken hierarchy [00:16:00] Bill Solomon Changed Everything Gentleman who wrote forward to Greg's book, had heart transplant before writing it Bill told Greg "I'm so glad you asked me to write the forward because I couldn't stop writing" Two months later Bill had book of his own called "Losing Control" (in his seventies) Was the person who pointed Greg toward something more in his life [00:17:20] The Welding Job That Taught Resilience Bill gave Greg job before college as welder's helper (Bill was CFO of company) Told the guys "You're gonna like this guy I'm bringing in, but treat him like crap" "Tear him down every day. Make him feel stupid. You're gonna begin to like him. Make it hard on him." Never told Greg this was happening [00:18:20] Breaking the Golden Handcuffs Wouldn't have business today without Bill Solomon Getting through Baylor, getting great job, then getting out of job and breaking golden handcuffs Starting own business in 1999, none of that would've happened Bill took interest, made it difficult on purpose, said "you're gonna be a great leader one day" [00:21:40] Greg Reynolds Called Every Day After Greg's divorce, Greg Reynolds called him every day for three months All he said was "How you doing today? How you doing today?" One of hardest times Greg ever went through Showed Greg the power of that, he's done same thing for friend of his [00:22:20] Taking Interest in People If you really want to take interest in a person, find out what they're doing every day Every one of these gentlemen shaped how Greg mentors others Having conversations he never would've had, saying what he never would've said Taking interest like Bill Solomon did, being there like his coaches [00:24:40] "What Do You Want to Do?" Woman was looking at situation from the past when she didn't have skills Now she does have skills "Question isn't what they want or what I want to do. It's what do you want to do?" She got quiet: "I want to have the conversation." [00:25:00] Over 20 Resets to Stay on Track They practiced again, she went and had conversation Wrote amazing email about how each time she had to stop herself and come back Get conversation back on track by sharing your best intent Had to do that more than 20 times [00:28:20] Investing Upfront vs. Costing on Back End If you add skillset and knew how to address it, you'd say "I'm not wasting my weekend" Have conversation, no matter what outcome, it's out of you Have entire weekend to problem solve whatever that was and learn about what you did Used time wisely by investing upfront rather than it costing you on back end [00:31:40] Marcus Newcomb Connection Marcus Newcomb is special person, they hit it off Greg has gotten to meet so many great people networking and marketing his book Kevin is "the real deal" KEY QUOTES "Breakthroughs aren't permanent until they're practiced over and over. So if you want permanence around a breakthrough, you've gotta go do something." - Greg Stephens "If you really want to take interest in a person, find out what they're doing every day." - Greg Stephens "My life is built on the shoulders of all my friends and people in my life that have shown me so much." - Greg Stephens CONNECT WITH GREG STEPHENS

He was invited to join the world-famous Doo-Wop Group “The Love Notes” by Papa Mars and son, Little Bruno (now known as Pop Star Bruno Mars.)While Bobby was emerging as an entertainer, he came across many opportunities to recreate the persona of Jackie Wilson because of his uncanny resemblance, voice, and moves that were almost identical to Jackie's. During this time, he learned that he was actually Jackie Wilson's biological son!Since that time, Bobby has emerged into a Global Entertainer with his own shows including: “Jackie Wilson, The Legacy Continues,” “Bobby Brooks Wilson, The Motown Years,” and his latest show, “Bobby Brooks Wilson's Red Tie Tour.”Bobby has opened for his friend Bruno Mars, and now stars in Clubs, Theaters, Casinos, and Cruise Ships around the world. What is Gods response to the trials and tragedies of our lives? What does is mean for God to come as a man? Listen in to find out from Pastor Jonathan Tan as he delivers his sermon from John 1:14, 18, and Galatians 4:4-5.
Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Read more about Project23 and partner with us as we teach every verse of the Bible on video. Our text today is Judges 17:5-6: "And the man Micah had a shrine, and he made an ephod and household gods and ordained one of his sons, who became his priest. In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes." — Judges 17:5-6 Micah's home has now turned into a shrine. What began as a sentimental blessing has become a full-blown counterfeit religion. He makes an ephod, sets up household gods, and ordains his own son as priest. He's no longer just bending the rules—he's building a new religion entirely. This is what happens when personal compromise becomes public culture. Verse 6 gives us the diagnosis for an entire generation: "Everyone did what was right in his own eyes." When you remove God's authority, all you're left with is opinion. And opinion, when elevated to truth, becomes clutter. Micah's story is ancient, but it sounds painfully modern. We live in an age of "Build-A-God" spirituality. People pick and choose beliefs like toppings on a pizza—keep the love, lose the wrath; keep the grace, ditch the repentance. We want a faith that feels personal but never confronts. We call it authenticity, but it's really autonomy in disguise. We see it everywhere. "I'm spiritual, not religious." "My truth is my truth." "God just wants me to be happy." These are the slogans of a society that has traded holiness for self-help and discipleship for self-discovery. And here's the danger: customized faith always leads to counterfeit worship. When you decide what's right for you instead of what's true before God, you stop worshiping Him—you start worshiping you. Micah built a religion that worked for him, but it couldn't save him. The same is true for us. A God who always agrees with you can't change you. A faith that never offends you will never transform you. The real God draws lines because He loves us. He sets boundaries because He knows what sin destroys. Micah's shrine wasn't just a problem of misplaced silver—it was a problem of misplaced worship. He didn't stop worshiping; he just switched the object. And that's what happens to us when we treat faith like a mirror instead of a window—we stop seeing God and start seeing ourselves. We don't need a God who works for us—we need a God who works on us. The gospel isn't about making God fit our preferences; it's about letting Him reshape our hearts. ASK THIS: Have you ever tried to build a version of faith that "fits" your lifestyle? Where have you made peace with sin by calling it "personal conviction"? How does Micah's example warn us about the dangers of self-made religion? What truth have you been tempted to rewrite to make life easier? DO THIS: Read Romans 1:25: "They exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator." Repent of any area where you've been "editing" God's authority to fit your comfort. PRAY THIS: Father, I don't want a faith that fits my comfort—I want a faith that changes my character. Save me from the kind of religion that worships me instead of You. Tear down every idol I've built in my own image and bring me back under Your truth. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Christ Be Magnified."

Hi, friends! Happy Wednesday! Welcome to the fourth... and maybe final... Joanie Awards. Tear. But don't be sad that it might be over... be happy because it all happened. After a season jam packed with horny nuns, rogue presidents, cursed statues, disastrous love lives (ancient AND modern), Britney impressions and some evil, shedding mittens… we're closing things out with a bang. In this special Dark History finale... me, Joan, and Paul roll out the red carpet to honor the best, the messiest, and the most unhinged moments of Season Four. I'm talking iconic costumes, surprise musical numbers, historic divas, cursed inventions, Vegas chaos, medical nightmares, and impressions that are so bad... they're good. Plus, I pull back the curtain with some never-before-seen clips, behind-the-scenes moments, and fan comments that sent me into full spirals. It's chaotic, it's heartfelt, it's ridiculous… it's The Joanies, babe. Will this be the last one ever? I honestly don't know. But if it is... we're going out in true Dark History fashion: curious, laughing, learning, oversharing, and maybe questioning our life choices just a little bit. Seriously, thank you so much for tuning in all season. Without you, I would not be here. xo Bailey ________ FOLLOW ME AROUND Tik Tok: https://bit.ly/3e3jL9v Instagram: http://bit.ly/2nbO4PR Facebook: http://bit.ly/2mdZtK6 Twitter: http://bit.ly/2yT4BLV Pinterest: http://bit.ly/2mVpXnY Youtube: http://bit.ly/1HGw3Og Goodreads: http://bit.ly/3IVnO7N Snapchat: https://bit.ly/3cC0V9d Discord: https://discord.gg/BaileySarian RECOMMEND A STORY HERE: cases4bailey@gmail.com Business Related Emails: bailey@underscoretalent.com Business Related Mail: Bailey Sarian 4400 W. Today on the show, Bryan and Bedroth celebrate 400 mainline episodes of this concept and project that started in 2017 with our longest runtime yet for a single episode. Besides hopefully finding some really cool things through the grace of the universe, the guys also reminisce on the past 400 episodes of BGMania, especially the last almost four years that Bedroth has been on the show. Look, it's been a rough couple of weeks for Philly sports ('ceptin the Flyers though!), so Jeff forgot that he MAY also host a SECRET OTHER podcast. With a similar name. We doubt it, because the full panel is IN with ENERGY this week. Eagles drama got you down? We have the holiday antidote to that. Sixers making you tear out your toupee? Settle down and don't act turrible. But for reals, we take both the Eagles and the Sixers to task for their frustrating and uneven year to date. There is time in both seasons - with the Birds being the most urgent. Today there's news that a Slay reunion could be coming...and sure, that's nice...but it's time to BRING it to LA on Monday night. Sure seems far away...Next it's Sixers time, with a post-Joel / Maxey-led version of the team coming into focus. Time will tell if this is just a .500 team with bubble playoff aspirations...or if the injuries can clear up at the right time to give this team a spark. Will be great to get Oubre back.Flyers - been on a TEAR and we hope it continues, not withstanding the drubbing we received at the hands of the Pens. Crosby you DICK. Let's get a bounce back game going for your "playoff level" Flyers. And get well Tyson, we're gonna need you healthy down the stretch.Email: hoagiemouthpod@gmail.comIG: @hoagiemouthpod
