We covered the Knicks-Celtics series and the Mets and Yankees both winning their weekend series. Judge is still playing exceptionally well. Boomer wants Anunoby to shoot more for the Knicks. Jerry's update led with the Cowboys-Eagles NFL opener. Dart mentioned seeing Hard Knocks clips on TikTok. Carr retired from the NFL and the Saints. Mitchell Robinson posted on Instagram, expressing indifference to opinions. Mendoza praised Lindor's home run in the Mets' win over the Cubs. Rice hit a grand slam as the Yankees beat the A's. The hour concluded with Boomer's participation in Burrow's golf tournament, which Burrow missed due to illness.
Hour 1 The Knicks lost big at home Saturday, despite being up 2-1 in the series where they've rarely led. Boomer blamed nerves and Robinson's poor free throws. Jerry's first update included postgame sound from the Knicks' MSG loss. The Pacers are up 3-1 on the Cavs. OKC beat Denver in a low-scoring game. The Yankees beat the A's with Ben Rice's grand slam. Lindor homered in the Mets' win over the Cubs. Torrens got hit in the groin despite a cup. Dart asked reporters to introduce themselves at his press conference. The hour ended with Knicks calls; Boomer thinks opponents enjoy playing at MSG. A caller said Jerry wore a Porzingis jersey when filling in. Hour 2 Belichick's girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, placed 3rd in Miss Maine; Belichick sat with her father, who is younger than him. UNC denied banning her from their football facility. A caller complained about excessive NBA 3-pointers. Jerry's update included bringing a Porzingis jersey to tease Boomer. The Pacers are up 3-1 against the injured Mitchell and the Cavs. Nimmo homered as the Mets beat the Cubs with a 4-run eighth. Baty hit two homers Saturday. Rice's grand slam helped the Yankees beat the A's; Judge noted many Yankees fans in Sacramento. On Mother's Day, Jung homered with his mom watching his brother on the other team. The hour ended with a clip of Schoen confirming his draft pick to Daboll and discussion about the Giants' reportedly difficult interview with Shedeur Sanders. Hour 3 We covered the Knicks-Celtics series and the Mets and Yankees both winning their weekend series. Hour 4 Tonight's Knicks game is crucial; a loss suggests the series is over, while a win to go up 3-1 makes a comeback unlikely. Boomer questions why Knicks fans face constant tension. Towns might have a broken finger, stating, "it is what it is." Gio thinks Boomer is too pessimistic about tonight's game. There are rumors about Woody Allen being banned from MSG. They discussed the "curse of Fat Joe," with Boomer planning to freeze the Porzingis jersey to counter it. Before Jerry's update, they spoke with Ed Randall about prostate tests at tomorrow's Mets game. Jerry previewed Knicks-Celtics game four. Rice hit another grand slam as the Yankees beat the A's, with Judge going 4-for-5. Boomer questioned Sims' absence after recently becoming the Yankees announcer. The Cowboys and Eagles will open the NFL season. Anthony's graduation speech at Syracuse included, "when in doubt, stay Melo." The Moment of the Day highlighted the Rangers' freezer jersey strategy failing. The show ended with Boomer's disbelief at Sims' early time off.

The Potter Discussion: Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts and the Wizarding World Fandom
Send us a textIn this episode, we discuss places we need to see more of in the TV show. Enjoy!Topics/Summary:· 1:37 Diagon Alley. In the book, this is the meeting point of the Muggle and magical worlds. It is the first place Harry sees that is truly magical, and also acts as a sanctuary for him later on. When it is taken over, that should mean something for the larger state of the wizarding world.· 10:29 The Burrow. We get a lot of the Burrow in the film, but it's not exactly the same feel. The Burrow is a representation of what Harry lost, and the life he could have had. That doesn't really come across in the films, and the TV show should focus on that more. · 16:30 The Hogwarts Grounds. We never really get to explore the grounds. Something standing in exploration's way is the plot. With the limited time of a film, we have to have a reason to go out into the grounds. But with hours more in a TV, we should be able to walk about the grounds without a direct reason that relates to the plot.· 21:32 The Ministry of Magic. This is a weirder one, but world building is important. The Ministry works in the shadows and has a big effect on the plot. We should be able to understand more about how it works and why Voldemort taking it over means so much.· 27:04 Hagrid's Hut. It is a magical house and a cool place, but it is also where the trio are in danger. If it's being out of bed after dark or running from werewolves, they seem to be in peril in Hagrid's hut. But I'd rather the hut be a place for them to decompress and feel safe. That would be much more valuable than fearing for their lives. When it burns down, it would be a stronger symbol if it was a warm, happy place.Having anything you want to hear or say? Click here for a voice submission or here for text. Send us a textShedeur Sanders dropping out of the first three rounds of the NFL Draft isn't about talent — it's personal. In this episode, we break down how NFL owners, GMs, and coaches — who claim they'll do anything to win — decided this was the player they wanted to make an example of.We ask the real questions: • Why wasn't the Manning, Luck, Burrow, or Mayfield family treated the same way? • Since when is selling yourself as a starter a crime? • Why is NIL success being twisted into “not loving football”? • How is a player with 6 different offensive coordinators, a 5-to-1 TD-INT ratio, and 152 sacks still standing… being called anything but tough and poised?Shedeur Sanders turned around Jackson State. He helped resurrect a 1–11 Colorado program. He's not just confident — he's earned it. The draft has never been about how great you are. It's always been about how low they can take you. This isn't about football. It's about jealousy. It's about bias. It's about punishing the Sanders family for not playing the game the “right” way.Shedeur has the poise, the swag, and the leadership to be the Steve Nash of an NFL offense — if only someone has the vision to get out of their own way.
The 2025 NFL Draft, held in Green Bay, Wisconsin, kicked off with high anticipation, and the Cincinnati Bengals, holding the 17th overall pick, made a strategic move to bolster their defense by selecting Texas A&M edge rusher Shemar Stewart. This selection, announced on April 24, 2025, addressed a critical need for the Bengals, whose defense struggled in the 2024 season, contributing to their 9-8 record and missing the playoffs for the third straight year. With Super Bowl aspirations fueled by quarterback Joe Burrow's MVP-caliber performances, the Bengals aimed to fortify their roster with immediate impact players. Shemar Stewart, a 6-foot-6, 280-pound defensive end, brings a blend of athleticism and potential to Cincinnati's defensive line. Despite modest college production—1.5 sacks in each of his three seasons at Texas A&M—Stewart's combine performance was exceptional, showcasing a 95th-percentile speed score and a 91st-percentile 10-yard split. His physical gifts, including an impressive wingspan and explosive first step, drew comparisons to elite pass rushers. Bengals defensive coordinator Al Golden emphasized Stewart's versatility, noting his ability to make plays away from the line of scrimmage and his ascending trajectory as a prospect. Golden dismissed concerns about Stewart's sack totals, highlighting his disruptive presence and fit within the team's revamped defensive scheme. The Bengals' decision to draft Stewart was influenced by uncertainty surrounding star edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, who led the NFL with 17.5 sacks in 2024 but was granted permission to seek a trade. Stewart provides immediate depth and a potential long-term starter opposite Hendrickson, should he remain with the team. Head coach Zac Taylor and director of player personnel Duke Tobin prioritized defensive upgrades, with Stewart's selection aligning with their goal of pairing him with Hendrickson to create a formidable pass-rush duo. Mock drafts leading up to the event projected various defensive talents for Cincinnati, including Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell and Georgia safety Malaki Starks, but Stewart's raw potential and physical tools made him the choice. Fans and analysts, as seen in posts on X, expressed optimism about Stewart's “unique physical gifts,” with some calling him a “tier 1” talent. As the Bengals look to capitalize on Burrow's prime, Stewart's development will be pivotal in elevating a defense that has lagged behind the team's high-powered offense, setting the stage for a promising 2025 season

On April 22, 2025, the Cincinnati Reds suffered another tough loss, falling 11-13 to the Miami Marlins in a high-scoring affair at LoanDepot Park. The game, part of a three-game series, saw the Reds struggle defensively, particularly in a disastrous seventh inning that allowed the Marlins to surge ahead. Starting pitcher Graham Ashcraft had a rough outing, unable to contain Miami's offense, while the Reds' bullpen couldn't stop the bleeding. Offensively, TJ Friedl and Jose Trevino each had two hits, and Noelvi Marte blasted a home run, but the team's hard-hit balls often found Marlins' gloves, as noted by fans on X. Despite Nick Martinez's solid relief effort, costly errors and poor situational hitting (1-for-10 with runners in scoring position) doomed Cincinnati. The loss dropped the Reds to 11-13, highlighting ongoing issues with consistency and defense as they aim to avoid a sweep today. The Cincinnati Bengals approach the 2025 NFL Draft with the 17th overall pick and six total selections, aiming to address critical defensive and offensive needs. After a 9-8 season, the focus is on bolstering the defense, which struggled last year, prompting the firing of coordinator Lou Anarumo. Mock drafts project the Bengals targeting impact defenders like Georgia safety Malaki Starks, Ole Miss DT Walter Nolen, or Marshall EDGE Mike Green to complement Trey Hendrickson. The defensive line and secondary, weakened by departures like Sam Hubbard and Vonn Bell, are priorities. Offensively, adding depth at guard or tackle is possible, with Alabama's Parker Brailsford mentioned. With Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins locked in, the pressure is on director Duke Tobin to hit on draft picks to maximize Burrow's prime and return to playoff contention under new coordinator Al Golden.

As of March 25, 2025, the Cincinnati Reds have wrapped up their spring training in Goodyear, Arizona, finishing with a 12-17-1 record in the Cactus League. Despite the losing tally, the focus was on preparation rather than results, culminating in a strong 13-2 victory over the Cleveland Guardians in their final game. Key performances highlighted the camp: shortstop Elly De La Cruz thrived, slashing .452/.553/.839 with six extra-base hits and six stolen bases, showcasing his superstar potential. Outfielder Austin Hays led the team with 14 RBIs and a .310 average, proving his value as a cleanup hitter. Pitching-wise, Hunter Greene, set to start Opening Day on March 27 against the San Francisco Giants, struck out six in four innings during his penultimate tune-up. Nick Lodolo also impressed in the finale, signaling rotation strength. However, injuries impacted the roster—Andrew Abbott, Spencer Steer, and Tyler Stephenson will start the season on the IL, opening spots for prospects like Jacob Hurtubise and Blake Dunn. Under new manager Terry Francona, the Reds emphasized farm system development and organizational unity, aiming to end their playoff drought since 2020 as they head back to Cincinnati. In March 2025, the Cincinnati Bengals secured their star wide receivers, Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, with lucrative long-term contracts, ensuring quarterback Joe Burrow's top targets remain in place. Chase signed a four-year, $161 million extension, making him the NFL's highest-paid non-quarterback at $40.25 million annually, with $73.9 million fully guaranteed at signing and $112 million total guaranteed. His deal includes a $41.17 million base salary and roster bonuses for 2025, with cash flow structured to deliver $105 million over three years, heavily front-loaded for flexibility. Higgins, previously on a franchise tag, inked a four-year, $115 million contract, averaging $28.75 million per year, the highest for a No. 2 receiver. His deal features $30 million fully guaranteed at signing, including a $20 million roster bonus in 2025, though his $13.8 million 2025 base salary remains unguaranteed, offering the Bengals an out after one year if needed. The Bengals deviated from their traditional signing bonus-heavy structure, opting for significant guarantees to appease Burrow's public push to retain both players. While this locks in their offensive core through 2029 (Chase) and 2028 (Higgins), critics note the team could have saved millions by acting earlier, as delays inflated costs amid a rising receiver market.

The March Madness weekend of March 21-23, 2025, delivered thrilling action as the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament kicked off its first and second rounds. On Friday, top seeds like Auburn, Duke, Florida, and Houston asserted dominance, rolling past opponents, while the ACC struggled, with only Duke advancing past the first round. The Big Ten and SEC shone brightly, combining for half the second-round field, highlighted by Purdue's surgical win over High Point and Tennessee's knockout blow to Southern Illinois. Saturday saw upsets, including No. 10 Arkansas stunning No. 2 St. John's, ending Rick Pitino's run, while Auburn and Houston secured Sweet 16 spots with strong finishes against Creighton and Gonzaga. Sunday brought more drama: No. 1 Florida edged UConn 77-75, halting the Huskies' three-peat bid in a gritty battle, and No. 1 Duke crushed Baylor 89-66, fueled by a decisive first-half run. No. 4 Maryland stole the spotlight with a buzzer-beater to upset No. 12 Colorado State, while Arizona, led by Caleb Love's 29 points, rallied past Oregon 87-83. Kentucky also advanced, topping Illinois 84-75, setting up a Sweet 16 clash with Tennessee. The stage is set for an electrifying next round. The Bengals keep a big pass catcher in town, and it's a big one! Dave Lapham dives deep into "In The Trenches" with veteran NFL tight end Mike Gesicki to discuss his decision to remain with the Cincinnati Bengals and what he hopes to keep bringing to the offense. This exclusive interview, brought to you by First Star Logistics, explores Gesicki's journey from a multi-sport standout in high school to his professional career with the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, and Cincinnati Bengals. Mike Gesicki is coming off of a one-year "prove it" deal with the Bengals, where he will continue to benefit from the trust, creativity, and football intelligence of Joe Burrow, a quarterback known for elevating the play of those around him. Gesicki knows that the connection with a QB as intelligent and creative as Burrow is a rare opportunity. The pair sees the game through the same lens, understands coverages, and makes adjustments on the fly, and that connection is primed to take his game to another level. Gesicki has signed a 3-year, $25.5 million deal with the Bengals. What does this "generational wealth" mean to him, and how did his multi-sport background shape him as an athlete? Dave and Mike dive into Mike's history as a high school superstar. At Southern Regional High School in New Jersey, Gesicki didn't just play multiple sports - he DOMINATED them, setting school records for basketball points, football receiving yards, and volleyball blocks. This multi-faceted athleticism gave him multiple opportunities to play in college: Basketball offers at Patriot League schools such as Colgate and Bucknell Recruited to play Volleyball at Penn State Football scholarship offers to big-time programs, and finally deciding to chase that dream How has his athletic background played a role in his NFL success? He has always been an athlete, but it wasn't until his career at Penn State with the Nittany Lions that his talents as a Tight End began to blossom. This was followed by his time with the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, and finally, landing with the Cincinnati Bengals. Gesicki credits much of his journey to working hard and staying consistent. That work ethic has carried him to where he is today! Gesicki possesses a rare blend of size, speed, and athleticism for a tight end. At 6'6" and 245 pounds, he boasts an incredible 41.5-inch vertical jump. What does it mean to have a vertical jump that impressive? He also ran a 4.5-second 40-yard dash and features an arm length of over 34 inches with a 10.25-inch hand. He's a physical marvel who can run routes, make contested catches, and even contribute as a blocker. He continues working with Tight Ends coach James Casey, a tremendous coach with years of experience. Casey had a fantastic career at Rice University and brings vast knowledge to help Gesicki. But what is the tight end room like even beyond the game? Gesicki loves the group, with Drew Sample, Tanner Hudson, Cam Grandy, and Tanner McLauchlin all contributing to the team's overall success. Versatility is the calling card for the Bengals Tight End room. Does Mike see himself as an offensive weapon that can be used in multiple ways? Will this help them to attack those slow starts they have endured over the last several years? The Bengals are trying to change things up to keep teams on their toes! Gesicki discusses the importance of the "contested catch" and how he thrives in those situations. When does he feel as though it was a strength of his? Does he feel as though it has gotten better and better as he got further into his career? Ultimately, Gesicki is thrilled to be a part of the Cincinnati Bengals organization. He values the team's culture, the coaching staff's vision, and the chance to play alongside Joe Burrow. He recognizes the potential for success in Cincinnati and is determined to contribute to the team's goals.
