New episode out now! We finish our mini-jaunt into the 1980s mystery scene with a major crossover event—Magnum meets Jessica Fletcher! We watched Magnum, P.I.'s “Novel Connection” and Murder She Wrote's “Magnum On Ice” back to back, which made the differences in the shows pretty apparent. We compare their investigative skills and strategies, rage at how they both touch evidence, wonder how each writing team pitched the stories, and again love Magnum's shorts. We also discuss other TV crossovers and wonder if they all feel as disjointed as these two while still staying true to the characters. Katy raves about Paddington 2's film status, Carrie fondly recalls the ABC TGIF lineup, Maddy never saw Rise of Skywalker, and Mack shares a delightful bit of TV trivia. We also talk about the definition of himbo, share stories about our first alcoholic drinks, try to decide when mustaches are acceptable, wonder what is sexy about packing for a trip, and are regaled by multiple vocal impressions of a steel guitar. Pour yourself a Mai Tai and give it a listen! Show Notes: YouTube video from ALOHAINABA “Hawaiian Steel Guitar " A SONG OF OLD HAWAII” Cocaine and Rhinestones episode Katy mentioned,“CR014 – Ralph Mooney: The Sound of Country Music” about the steel guitar www.theguardian.com The return of the 'himbo': the antidote to toxic masculinity

For so many of us growing up in the 1980s, Full House was a huge part of the ABC TGIF lineup and with every classic sitcom, a wacky neighbor was needed. Enter the then teenager Andrea Barber, who played Kimmy Gibbler. Gibbler was not only the weirdo next door but the best friend to Candace Cameron Bure' DJ Tanner. Faster forward 20 years since the original incarnation's cancellation and Netflix creates a sequel series entitled Fuller House, where DJ is now a widow and not only her sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin), but Barber returns as the even more zany, now semi-responsible and divorced mother, Kimmy Gibbler who finally got to live her dream of being a resident of the Tanner household. We caught up with Barber who discusses the second series, motherhood, how much fun it was to work with people who she's been friends with since Barber was 10 years old, the most Kimmy Gibbler level of embarrassment she puts her own kids through and her hopes of of a Fullest House in another 20 years. The final nine episodes of Fuller House begin streaming on Netflix, Tuesday, June 2, 2020. Follow Andrea Barber on Instagram andreabarber and on Twitter @andreabarber.
