The melodies andinstrumentation make it a hauntingly beautiful listen.“Sorry” drops on July 6. The music video has already been released.“When I wrote this song,” said S7GMA, “I had just lost my father. Then a month after, Ilost my manager. He was killed. In that very same day, I found out that my friend'snewborn baby had passed away.”Never thought I'd have these thoughts now they want me on them pills,My dad just passed away my head just spinning like a wheel,Then my homie lost his daughter man I know this can't be real,It is, in one way, the most defiant, in-your-face eulogy you'll ever hear. In another, it is agood-bye to all his friends, and in another it is a message to himself. An Asian singing bowl resonates in the background, and a soft, slow chiming bell setsthe beat and the mood in the intro before drums take over the beat and slashed stringsintroduce the theme:World turned us cold and all we know is get it,We ain't never ask for this life, but it is the life we living,Telling us the best to do, but is that the right decision?“‘Sorry' is basically all tough love, because somebody like me had to go through myobstacles, obviously, to get to where I had to be. So, it's a message to myself, ‘Stopfeeling sorry for yourself.' At the same time, I'm sorry you had to go through everythingthat you had to go through to be where you are today.”He calls his new music — the music he began creating this year with “Now” —“conscious hip-hop.” It has a much more serious attitude than the upbeat, poppy hip-hop of previous years. In 2023, he said, his attitude was “You know what? I'm just gonna give people whatthey want. I'm just, you know, playful and commercial.”But by the end of the year, his reasoning changed.“It was like, this isn't working, and if I can't please people doing what they want, makingsounds that they want to hear, then I'm just going to go ahead and do me. I lockedmyself in my room for the first three months of the year and did nothing but S7GMA,S7GMA, S7GMA. S7GMA, S7GMA, S7GMA, all day every day.”Conscious hip-hop.“It is music with a message but it's more conscious of myself, of the moves I make, because I do have mental depression, and I'm a deep thinker. I like to dig deep intothings. I like being self-aware.”“Sorry,” with its anger and loss, is also a song of regret, of missed opportunities to learnfrom people now gone, of the inability to help.He wasn't in real contact with his father until he was 20 and his father had beendiagnosed with the brain tumor that eventually killed him.“Every time I spoke to him, he always told me, ‘Just don't stress.' Literally, just black andwhite, ‘Don't stress,' and that's an anomaly to me, because, like I said, I like to breakthings down.”“And then my manager,” he said, the manager who texted him “23 minutes before hepassed.”“He was three hours away, and he needed me to come and pick him up. It only took 23minutes for somebody else to take his life. So, I do feel guilty, one, that I never paidattention to my father and two, I'm not Superman and I couldn't make a three-hour trip.”S7GMA self-produces all his music. His YouTube channel is named prodS7GMA. Thesound of “Now” and “Sorry,” he said, will now be a “staple” with him, “somber, tough, lowsounding, and that aggression that you hear in ‘Sorry” is also something I do.”“Sorry” and “Now” will be part of a seven-track EP, Mind of Me, he will release inNovember. Another single that will go on the EP, “Welcome,” drops on July 19. Beyondthat, he has a whole year's program of music planned for the rest of this year and into2025. Meanwhile, we have “Sorry,” with music and lyrics well-worth listening to. S7GMA'svoice itself has a resonating quality much like the singing bowl in the intro, which addsto the music and makes the message almost impossible to miss.“‘Sorry,'” he said, returning to the message, “I'll say is something for people to listen to.You can be sorry, but don't feel sorry for yourself.”Make sure to stay connected to S7GMA on all platforms for new music, videos, andsocial posts.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/creator-to-creators-with-meosha-bean--4460322/support.

More than a million Americans have lost Medicaid coverage since pandemic protections ended. The Biden administration is asking states to slow disenrollment, but that does not mean states must listen. Meanwhile, a Supreme Court decision gives Medicaid beneficiaries the right to sue over their care, and a new deal preserves coverage of preventive services nationwide as a Texas court case continues.Rachel Cohrs of Stat, Alice Miranda Ollstein of Politico, and Sandhya Raman of CQ Roll Call join KFF Health News' Mary Agnes Carey to discuss these issues and more. Alfred Matthew Yankovic, Born October 23, 1959, in Downey, California, the only child of Mary Elizabeth (née Vivalda) and Nick Yankovic. Weird Al rose to international, NO, Intergalactic stardom with his weird brand of pop/rock music. And we LOVE him for it. Hot on the heels of the release of "WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story" on Roku, I'm sitting down with a guest who has seen Weird Al 29 times! AND wrote a book about him. I've invited the author of “Weird Me”, the book that follows a moderately successful webmaster of a "Weird Al" Yankovic fan site. From minor notoriety to jet-setting for concerts, to earning a stalker, Weird Me showcases the awkward (and true) intricacies of an adolescence spent carving out a corner of the internet frontier in dedication to the king of parody. Of course, I'm talking about Kelly Phillips. Kelly is here today to discuss our Five Favorite Weird All Songs, both Parodies and Originals. I guarantee, this episode will be Weird! Candace Mayeron was kind of like a Den Mother to the Chippendales, even though she wasn't much older than them at the time. Here she is below in the middle of a gaggle of them. And here I am below, a young Debbie Nigro with dark hair, posing with a handful of ‘Chips' in comparison. We both have a Chippendales story. Mine is light and funny and happened in one night long ago. Candace Mayerons' story is way more interesting, way longer and sadly way more tragic. It involves the murder of her close friend and boss, Chippendales Producer & Choreographer Nick de Noia,  sitting with Candace celebrating in probably the last photo of him alive. Candace Mayeron was the Associate Producer of the Chippendales show and basically the Den Mother to the Chippendale men up until 1987. I would never have known this information or anything at all about Candace had I not been sparked by reading that A&E was launching a limited series called "Secrets of The Chippendales Murders." I thought I'd heard something about that crazy story before, so I googled and sure enough "Curse Of The Chippendales" came up as Discovery+ docuseries.   a stunt in LA in the 1980s. The show then became involved in a slew of scandals, including the 1987 assassination of Chippendales choreographer Nick de Noia and two other planned hits on a dancer and producer, all orchestrated by Chippendales Founder Steve Banerjee. Then I came across an article  in which Candace told her Chippendales story originally to Elle Magazine then through Hollywood411 called, "Sex, Money, and Murder. My Life as The Chippendales Den Mother". I have to admit when Candace's photo came up and I saw she outnumbered me in ‘chips' I was impressed enough to track her down and invite her on my show to talk ‘girlfriend to girlfriend' about her experience which you'll hear here in tis podcast clip. For a lot of women who would never dare have that kind of scandalous fun before, Chippendales provided a revolutionary form of entertainment that Candace will surely tell you, was more about the women who attended the shows than the men who performed. The  brief version of my Chippendales story?  I was live on the air as a radio DJ, and had just mentioned Chippendales was opening in NYC, and as a joke I said anybody want to come with me? The phones started ringing off the hook! A few promotional ‘bus loads' of women later we arrived -and all of them bought me drinks of appreciation for my good thinking. This photo of me above with The Chippendales was taken before I LOST 35 women who I was responsible for bringing home with me. Completely psycho story for another time.
