On this week's episode of Kliq This, Kevin Nash and Sean Oliver settle in for a deep and wide-ranging conversation that goes far beyond wrestling. The episode, titled “It's Not Me, It's You,” touches on everything from Kevin's return to the road for a fan convention, to thoughtful reflections on grief, fatherhood, autism, and the emotional impact of connecting with fans face-to-face. Kevin opens up about what it felt like to get back out in the world after some time away, recounting his travel experience, interactions with fans, and a touching story about someone who brought him a photo of his late son that hit him harder than expected. He and Sean also dig into the kind of connection that can form between performers and their audiences—especially when people feel seen, heard, and understood. Whether it's the dad who listens to the podcast in the car with his daughter, or the fans who just want a minute to say thanks, Kev gets real about what that means to him at this stage in his life. The guys also spend some time talking about Kevin's run-in with Shannon Elizabeth at the con (yes, she owns a rhino), and the surreal feeling of chatting casually with Henry Winkler when your brain still remembers him as “The Fonz.” There's a moment where the conversation shifts into a discussion of autism and how people on the spectrum can be misread or mishandled by those who don't understand. Kevin draws on his own experiences with his son to talk about empathy, patience, and just taking the time to listen. Later in the episode, they analyze John Cena's current direction in WWE, breaking down the psychology of a slow-burn breakup between a performer and the audience that used to love him. It's not just about titles—it's about worth, legacy, and feeling like you gave your all only to be left behind. That leads into a great sidebar on Kurt Angle's criminally underrated TNA run and why that company never got the respect it deserved. As always, there are plenty of laughs too. Kevin recounts getting pulled over and ticketed in what may or may not have been a construction zone, tells stories from his days in the business, and somehow we end up talking about orbs flying over Daytona, chamomile tea, Ron White stand-up, and black shoe polish as a home remedy for ringworm. It's one of those episodes that bounces between hilarious, heartfelt, and heavy without missing a beat. Whether you're here for the wrestling talk, the behind-the-scenes stories, or the real-life reflections, this one delivers across the board. Jason's Monica Keena, and Terminator 2's Edward Furlong - How NIGHT OF THE DEMONS director Kevin S. Tenney ended up working on the film after making the cult classic Witchboard - Republic Pictures and the unexpected success of Night of the Demons on the home video market - Amelia Kinkade, the actress who plays the goth-girl-turned-demon-possessed-villain-of-the-series Angela, and her other life as a pet psychic; also discussion of her awesome dance scenes in Night of the Demons and Night of the Demons 2 where she dances to the gothic post-punk band Bauhaus and the death metal band Morbid Angel! - And more!

Born To Watch - A Movie Podcast

Welcome to another episode of the Born to Watch Movie Podcast! This week, we dive into the raunchy, hilarious, and surprisingly heartfelt world of "American Pie" (1999). Directed by Paul Weitz in his directorial debut, this film quickly became a cultural phenomenon, resonating with audiences for its candid portrayal of teenage life and its unapologetically comedic take on the trials and tribulations of high school seniors. Join us as we explore the elements that made "American Pie" a landmark in the teen comedy genre."American Pie" revolves around four high school friends—Jim (Jason Biggs), Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas), Oz (Chris Klein), and Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas)—who make a pact to lose their virginity before graduation. This seemingly simple premise sets the stage for a series of humorous and often cringe-worthy escapades, all underpinned by a surprisingly genuine exploration of friendship, love, and growing up.The film's storytelling balances outrageous comedy and moments of sincere emotion. Each character's journey is both unique and relatable, allowing the audience to see bits of themselves in the protagonists' struggles and triumphs. Jim's awkward and earnest attempts to navigate his burgeoning sexuality, in particular, provide some of the film's most memorable and endearing moments. Whether it's his infamous encounter with an apple pie or his embarrassing mishaps with Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth), Jim's storyline blends humour and heart. The cinematography in "American Pie" plays a crucial role in amplifying its comedic and emotional beats. The film's use of close-ups and reaction shots enhances the comedic timing, making every awkward moment feel even more personal and immediate. The suburban setting, captured with a mix of warm tones and vibrant lighting, creates a nostalgic backdrop that grounds the film in a recognizable reality despite its more exaggerated comedic elements.Character development is another standout aspect of "American Pie." While the film's primary focus is on the four friends' quest to lose their virginity, it also delves into their individual growth and the evolution of their friendships. Kevin's realization about the importance of emotional connection, Oz's journey from jock to a more sensitive and self-aware young man, Finch's quest for sophistication, and Jim's continual awkward yet earnest efforts to find intimacy—all these arcs contribute to a richer narrative tapestry.Supporting characters, like Stifler (Seann William Scott), Stifler's mom (Jennifer Coolidge), and Michelle (Alyson Hannigan), bring additional layers of comedy and intrigue. With his outrageous antics and brash personality, Stifler provides a counterpoint to the more earnest endeavours of the main quartet. Meanwhile, Michelle's now-iconic "This one time, at band camp..." line not only delivers a comedic punch but also reveals hidden depths to her seemingly quirky character, culminating in a surprise twist in her relationship with Jim.The film's soundtrack is a time capsule of late '90s music, featuring tracks from Blink-182, Third Eye Blind, and others that perfectly encapsulate the era's zeitgeist. The music complements the film's tone and enhances its emotional beats, creating a soundscape that is both nostalgic and integral to the storytelling."American Pie" holds a significant place in pop culture, not just for its comedic value but for its candid portrayal of teenage life. It opened the door for a new wave of teen comedies that dared to address adolescence's often awkward and messy reality. The film's frank discussions about sex, its willingness to push boundaries, and its blend of crude humour with genuine emotion set a new standard for the genre.Culturally, "American Pie" was a product of its time, reflecting the late '90s attitudes towards sex and relationships. Its influence can be seen in the numerous sequels and spin-offs it spawned and in other films that sought to capture the same blend of humour and heart. However, it's also important to recognize how some aspects of the film, particularly its treatment of female characters and consent, might be viewed through a more critical lens today. This retrospective consideration adds another layer to our understanding of the film's impact and legacy.Despite occasional missteps, "American Pie" remains a beloved classic, thanks to its memorable characters, iconic scenes, and genuine humour. Its success lies in its ability to capture the universal awkwardness of growing up and the enduring importance of friendship. The film's blend of raunchy comedy with heartfelt moments continues to resonate with audiences, even as societal attitudes have evolved. In our discussion on the Born to Watch Movie Podcast, We reflect on our experiences and memories of watching the film, offering a mix of nostalgia and critical analysis. Whether you're a long-time fan of the film or a newcomer curious about its enduring appeal, this episode offers a comprehensive and entertaining exploration of why "American Pie" remains a seminal work in the teen comedy genre. So, grab a slice of pie (preferably not Jim's favourite kind), sit back, and join us as we celebrate the hilarity and heart of "American Pie." The film reminds us of the awkward, unforgettable journey from adolescence to adulthood, capturing the essence of a time when every moment felt like a big deal—and every misstep was a story worth telling. Please follow the Podcast and join our community at https://linktr.ee/borntowatchpodcasthttps://www.borntowatch.com.au/

The game we're discussing today may have the most star-studded cast of any game we'll ever review: Mya, Shannon Elizabeth, Heidi Klum, Judi Dench, John Cleese, Willem Dafoe and Pierce Brosnan. We're going back to 2004 to an action-adventure game starring one of the world's most famous fictional agents. We're talking James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing. On this episode of Stealth Boom Boom, we look at the early days of Visceral Games (when they were still called EA Redwood Shores). We also discuss a teaser trailer that doesn't have Bond's voice and gives GoldenEye vibes, as well as some top celeb interviews about facial expressions and the size of controllers when in the hands of Richard Kiel.In our review, you'll hear some chat on the co-op campaign that Josh enjoyed 20 years ago, a decent amount of opportunities to employ serviceable stealth, how we see the character fitting in stealthy scenarios, the Q Spider and your modest assortment of gadgets, the Nano Suit and a draining battery, an INVISIBLE CAR (but can the enemies hear it?), solid cover shooting before the golden age of the third-person shooter, the safety of fine-tuning your aim behind a wall, difficulty spikes and trial-and-error set-pieces, the coolness of the rappel gun, trying to read the map while shooting missiles and breaking the speed limit in your Need for Speed car, optional Bond Moments, lobbing spanners at heads, Jaws what are you doing here, fireworks in Peru, flamethrowers attached to motorbike, absolute popcorn nonsense, nods to old movies, a checked out Brosnan, a poor supporting cast, a tingling Bond Sense, and where does Everything or Nothing by Mya rank on our list of THE GREATEST BOND SONGS EVER!?!?!?!After all that, we take you through what some of the critics were saying about the game around the time it came out, and then we give you our final verdicts on whether James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing is a Pass, a Play, or an Espionage Explosion. For those who would like to play along at home, we'll be discussing, reviewing and dissecting Alias on the next episode of Stealth Boom Boom.IMPORTANT LINKS TO THINGS

It's a cage match in a used car graveyard, with soul hunter Cyrus Kriticos taking on soul preserver Kalina Oretzia.  Lost amidst the metal is The Breaker, a murderous ghost Cyrus wishes to add to his collection.  Assisting Cyrus is Dennis, a medium whose ability to sense ghosts sends him into spasms of pain.  Kalina's only wish is to set souls free and let them roam the earth.  Cyrus succeeds in capturing Breaker, but loses his life in the process.  We cut to the home of Cyrus's nephew, math teacher Arthur Kriticos, his two children Bobby and Kathy, and their nanny, the sassy Maggie. They've got a visitor today, a lawyer, Ben Moss, representing Cyrus's estate. The news:  Cyrus is bequeathing his house to Arthur, who's spent the last few months mourning the death of his wife in a fire.  The house, it turns out, is a modern masterpiece of architecture, a glass structure with Latin etched on the walls, and walls that slide back and forth like a living organism.  Arthur's flattered, but… he can't pay for this.  He barely gets by as it is.  But Ben assures him, Cyrus has everything figured out.  All Arthur and the kids need to do is move in and get settled.  But once they start looking around, the Kriticos family realizes they're being watched, and the inhabitants of the basement are none too happy to be under new management. Clean off your flute and stop looking at that warm apple pastry like that as we dive… head first? (ugh, we hate ourselves)… into 1999's American Pie. Should this movie be renamed American Why, cuz we really don't get why it spawned so many sequels (you know, besides all that money they make). Is it ok to watch teen sex romps in your 40s? Can we watch the dry, smart, funny movie Natasha Lyonne and Jennifer Coolidge are performing in? Eugene Levy can join as the best movie dad ever. And can someone call SVU stat to report these pervs committing an actual sex crime against Shannon Elizabeth's unsuspecting foreign exchange student? Like a stereotypical teen boy, we can't promise you many satisfying answers, but we can promise you plenty of weird smells in today's episode.
