משיחת יום א' פ' שלח, כ"ף סיון ה'תשכ"ה, להתלמידות המסיימות ד"בית רבקה" ולהמדריכות דמחנה "אמונה" תחיינה ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=15-06-2025 Synopsis The question arises in the story of the spies: As a true leader of the Jewish people (who was born to lead them, and who by this time had already lived with them and led them in practice), Moshe surely knew the characteristics and thought processes of the Jewish people; how then is it possible that he failed to recognize, G-d forbid, that the spies he chose were unfit for the mission? While Rashi explains that “at that time, they were virtuous,” that raises another question: After they “went up and scouted the land,” what caused them to become frightened, and to dissuade the people from going to Eretz Yisroel? After all, they already knew about the thirty-one kings etc. beforehand? We can understand this based on the Alter Rebbe's explanation in Likkutei Torah that precisely because they were “virtuous,” they thought it was preferable to remain in the desert, separated and removed from the world, so they could learn Torah and do mitzvos without disturbance, rather than go to Eretz Yisroel where they would have to be involved in worldly matters like plowing fields and running businesses etc. Although they were initially prepared to do it – which is why Moshe chose them – when they came to Eretz Yisroel and actually saw the challenges that lay ahead with their own eyes, they were deterred, because “Hearing is not like seeing.” (To be continued.)Excerpt from sichah of Sunday, parashas Shelach, 20 Sivan 5725, to the graduating students of Bais Rivkah and counselors of Camp Emunah For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=15-06-2025

The Rebbe acknowledges the recipient's birthday and encourages the observance of Chassidic birthday customs, such as giving tzedakah and increasing in Torah study. He then shares a detailed insight from the Alter Rebbe's wording about involving one's household in mitzvos, emphasizing the value of enabling others to participate in mitzvah observance—even when not personally obligated—and notes its broader application in many areas. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/igroskodesh/015/009/5472
In 1725, Rabbi Zalman Hena published Shaarei Tefilah and sparked controversy by calling for a complete stop to the use of taam ha'elyon—the unique system of trop traditionally used for reading the Aseres Hadibros. Rabbi Yaakov Emden wasn't having it and fired back forcefully in his Luach Eresh. This class unpacks their debate, the sources they cite, the Alter Rebbe's position, and what we know about the two competing systems of trop for reliving Matan Torah. Up High or Down Low? The Battle Over the Proper Trop for the Aseres Hadibros
Rabbi Jacobson will discuss the following topics:What is the connection between this Omer period, Lag B'Omer and the weekly Torah portion? Revealing the hidden and deeper good even in negative experiences What is the central theme of this week's Torah chapter? Is Judaism rigid or flexible? Static or dynamic? What personal and global lessons does it offer us for our times? Why are some blessings so great that they have to be hidden within curses? Is it appropriate to get an aliya when they read the tochacho? Why did the Mitteler Rebbe not learn from the Alter Rebbe's previous readings that the curses are actually blessings? Can we say that the only reason we are still in golus is due to the pleasure Hashem gets from our effort to overcome the darkness and the challenges it presents? What is the difference between Lag B'Omer and Yud Tes Kislev? Should Israel be relying on America for protection? What can we learn from Rashbi's criticizing the Roman government? Why does Lag B'omer, the Mattan Torah of the Inner Torah, precede Shavuos? Is the Zohar the source of Chassidus? Why did Rabbi Akiva's students stop dying? Why are we allowed to sing during the days of Sefirah? What is the difference between sefiros and partzufim? What is the personal application of Yesod? Is this week a good time to receive blessings to conceive healthy children? Can you share a few stories about his relationship with the Rebbe?
