The Rebbe blesses him for a good, sweet year with success in studies and yiras Shamayim. Regarding travel, since Divine Providence placed him in Australia to spread Chassidus, he should continue this work, at least in part, and later seek other roles. Even imperfect intent still brings true benefit. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/004_igros_kodesh/elul/1223
The Rebbe blesses the members of “Nusach Ari,” “Tzemach Tzedek,” and “Lubavitch” shuls for a good, sweet year. He stresses the weight of these sacred names and the duty to uphold them—growing membership, especially youth, adding Torah and Chassidus study with farbrengens, making each shul vibrant and full of light. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/004_igros_kodesh/elul/1217
The Rebbe comforts him not to worry about health, as Hashem guides the birurim toward revealed good. He is pleased with his efforts to strengthen Yiddishkeit for others, which brings light and blessing also to him, aiding success in Torah, Chassidus, and all matters. Concludes with blessings for a good, sweet year. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/004_igros_kodesh/elul/1220
The Rebbe, though satisfied in part, reminds that “good is good, but better is expected.” Temimim must be true “lamps to illuminate,” serving as role models in Chassidus, prayer, nigleh, and derech eretz, influencing their peers. He awaits good news and blesses them with success in Torah and yiras Shamayim. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/005_igros_kodesh/001_tishrei/1224
The Rebbe is pleased with the new Chassidus class in Beis HaKnesses Chafetz Chaim and urges not to settle with current efforts but to expand further, especially in Elul and the Yamim Noraim. At the same time, they must maintain diligence in Torah and mitzvos, ever increasing in holiness, with hope for continued good news. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/igroskodesh/015/013/5759
The Rebbe explains that Tefillin represent “mochin,” with Rabbeinu Tam's linked to “mochin d'Abba,” connected to Penimiyus HaTorah. Their rectification is twofold: setting fixed study in Hilchos Tefillin and adding a regular shiur in Chassidus. With both, Hashem will grant true success. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/igroskodesh/015/013/5761
The Rebbe acknowledges his letter and urges not only fixed times but “kvius benefesh” in Chassidus, influencing others as well—Zechus Harabbim will assist. He blesses him as he prepares to build a Jewish home. The Rebbe also notes halachic sources regarding the tefillin measurement of two fingerbreadths without the titura. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/igroskodesh/015/013/5763
The Rebbe reassures him that Hashem, the essence of good, guides the world with hashgacha pratis, so worry is needless. He encourages public Torah study, especially the halachos of Tishrei, and to serve with joy and gratitude, remembering the light of Chassidus and living with confidence and simcha. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/igroskodesh/015/013/5757

This week I have two stories for you for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur and then stories from previous years. The Rebbe explains there is no need to leave Eretz Yisrael to study Nigleh and Chassidus, since Torah study is possible everywhere. The real obstacle is the yetzer hara, not lack of ability. Each lost day of learning is irretrievable; with resolve he can begin diligent study immediately. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/igroskodesh/015/013/5753
The Rebbe thanks him for spreading Chassidus and teaching on his birthday. He blesses that, just as “many waters” cannot extinguish the love for Hashem, he should channel this strength to study Torah with diligence, fulfill mitzvos with care, and rise above all obstacles with determination and success. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/igroskodesh/015/013/5749

The Rebbe praises his efforts to strengthen Judaism and inspire fellow soldiers, calling it a great mission—worth his army service for this alone. He urges sharing Torah and Chassidus with comrades, blessing all soldiers as truly connected to Hashem, and extends wishes for a good, sweet year and success in his holy influence. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/004_igros_kodesh/elul/1197
The Rebbe wishes the family a good, sweet year and shares that thanks to their generous contribution, printing of Sefer HaSichos is underway. Despite a pause during Tishrei, it is expected to be completed with binding by Yud Tes Kislev, the great chassidic day of victory, in honor of the Alter Rebbe and Chassidus. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/004_igros_kodesh/elul/1202
he Rebbe expresses astonishment that the writer does not urge his son-in-law to study Chassidus, the Tree of Life and teachings of the living Torah. He stresses its absolute necessity in our times, as through it Israel will merit redemption with kindness and mercy—and if not now, when? https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/004_igros_kodesh/elul/1193
The Rebbe rejoices at progress in acquiring a building for the Melbourne yeshiva, advising the name “Oholei Yosef Yitzchak” if still undecided. He stresses the immense value of a yeshiva founded on Chassidus, which brings unity and light, especially in these times, and blesses all involved with success and a good, sweet year. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/004_igros_kodesh/elul/1205
The Rebbe explains that Chai Elul infuses vitality into all areas of service, especially Torah. Torah without yiras Shamayim can lack life, but learning Chassidus—the “tree of life”—brings true love and awe of Hashem, giving soul to Torah study. This prepares for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, to be inscribed for a good year. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/004_igros_kodesh/elul/1192

ג' חלקים משיחת יום ב' דפ' נצו"י, ח"י אלול ה'תשמ"ב ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=11-09-2025 Synopsis The lesson from the birthday of the two great luminaries, the Baal Shem Tov and the Alter Rebbe: The unique effect of the moment of birth is that the child becomes an active force in the world. Although every Jew's mission is to have an impact on the world and to make it a dwelling place for Hashem, there are obviously different levels, and certainly when a new soul comes down into the world, a unique form of service is demanded of it – to bring about something new in the entire world. And this new contribution begins from the very moment the soul enters the world, as it says about Moshe's birth, “the entire house became filled with light.” (Just that the effect of light is not to create something new, but to reveal what was already there beforehand, whereas the task demanded of a Jew is to bring about something new in the work of Creation.) And since we are speaking about the two great luminaries whose role is to illuminate, it follows that they desire that their students also become “shining lamps” in all matters of spreading the light of Chassidus. This, then is the lesson from the birthday of the two great luminaries – to illuminate the entire world (with the light of Chassidus) which is possible because one operates not with his own power, but with the power of the Baal Shem Tov and the Alter Rebbe within him. Especially when their teachings are engraved in one's mind.3 excerpts from sichah of Monday, parashas Nitzavim-Vayelech, 18 Elul 5742 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=11-09-2025 לזכות ר' משה הענאך בן דינה שי' לעווין לרגל יום ההולדת שלו ח"י אלוללשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות*לזכות הרב משה שי' שפירא ליום ההולדת שלו החמישים י"ד אלול ה'תשפ"הלשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות נדבת משפחת השלוחים ד'האדסן קאנטי, ניו ג'רזי

For the Kinus HaTemimim in Kfar Chabad, the Rebbe blesses that it succeed in inspiring participants to fulfill their mission—to be active lights among all Jews, spreading the warmth of Chassidus through prayer, Torah, mitzvos, and broad dissemination, hastening the coming of Mashiach. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/igroskodesh/015/013/5739
Rabbi Jacobson will discuss the following topics: What should be our focus as we begin the third week of Elul? What is unique about the month of Elul? Why is the entire month of Elul not a holiday due to the revelation of the Divine compassion during this month? Why does Elul include V'Dodi Li (from above), which seems to be primarily during the holidays in Tishrei? Why am I not seeing the blessings that I asked for from the “king in the field”? What else can I do to help reveal these blessings?Did the Rebbe say that the parable of the “king in the field” teaches us that influential people need to go into the fields to greet regular people and make sure they have everything they need physically and spiritually? Is there a correlation between the king leaving his palace and going into the field to the concept of dira b'tachtonim, the king leaving the higher worlds and dwelling in the lower worlds? If we are meeting the “king in the field” why do we wait an entire month to coronate Him? Is there a connection between Elul and education? How can an emotionally unhealthy person prepare for the New Year? What can be done about the dissonance between being extremely religious in certain areas and despicable in human relationships? What is the significance of this day? How did Chassidus come to address the abovementioned dissonance? How does Chai Elul infuse more life into Elul to help us get ready for the new year? Do we know of other “new” souls besides the Alter Rebbe? What lessons can we learn from this week's Parsha? Chai Elul Ki Tavo

In 1897, Rabbi Shalom Ber, the Rebbe of Lubavitch opened a new Yeshiva - school for advanced Jewish learning called Tomchei Temimim. The school was unique as the first Chassidic Yeshiva that studied Chassidus in additional to the Talmud and Halacha (Jewish Law) studied in all Yeshivas. In the years since, the Yeshiva has graduated tens of thousands of students, many of whom became leaders and builders of Jewish life across the world.A fascinating discussion about the Tomchei Temimim Yeshiva and why it had such an enormous impact.

Rabbi Jacobson will discuss the following topics: What should be our focus as we begin the second week of Elul? How can Elul practically help us in our daily struggles? Since we can do teshuva in the “blink of an eye” why do we need thirty days of Elul and ten days of teshuva? How do we apply the Alter Rebbe's example of the “king in the field” in our daily lives? What did the Rebbe add to this example? Is there value in just wanting to be better, even if no action is taken? How can we ensure that we are creating the proper containers in Elul to receive the Divine blessings? Can we tap into Elul's energy all year round? How does sof maaseh b'machshava techila relate to the month of Elul as the last month of the year leading into the new year? What personal and global lessons can we learn from this week's Parsha in how to fight our life battles? How do we explain the Torah allowing taking a “beautiful woman” captive during war? What are the practical applications of remembering what Amalek did to us? Can we apply Amalek to the war against Hamas? Why aren't more religious Jews joining this war? Why are sin offerings brought in the holy temple relevant for us to read today, as well as after the geulah when evil will be eradicated? Are we davening properly? What impact should prayer have on us and our emotional intelligence? How can we make davening a more transformative experience? Ki Teitzei Prayer What can Chassidus teach us about trichotillomania (hair pulling)? As a non-Jew, will learning Hebrew and studying Torah make my life happy?
