When Kirra-Lea McLoughlin died on a property near Gympie, Queensland, law enforcement and medical examiners were baffled. Kirra's former partner would claim she went to sleep after a fight and simply didn't wake up. Family said there had been a party at the property the night before, but neighbours disputed that. Kirra's body had 105 signs of bruising, and there was a 12 hour period where emergency services weren't contacted about her rapidly declining state. Former police officer Jamie Pultz met Kirra McLoughlin before her death. His podcast Beenham Valley Road investigates the case, talking to Kirra's friends and family, and looking into the events leading up to and following her death. Originally broadcast Summer 2021. When Kirra McLoughlin died her boyfriend said she must have overdosed on prescription drugs. That didn't explain the over one hundred bruises on her body however. And yet, nobody has been charged with Kirra's death.   That didn't sit well with Jamie Pultz. He had met Kirra once at his former job, back when he was a police officer in Queensland Australia.  When he heard that Kirra had died and nobody had been held accountable, he decided to do something about it.   This is the third installment of our summer series about mysterious crimes and disappearances from around the globe and the people who fight to get justice for victims and their families.   Jamie Pultz's media company Six 10 Media Beenham Valley Road podcast on Spotify Check out the full catalog of Dakota Spotlight true crime podcasts at https://dakotaspotlight.com  where you can sign up for a newsletter, subscribe to the new and exciting Spotlight PLUS ad-free experience and much more.  Head over to https://dakotaspotlight.com to learn more.  Advertise your podcast or brand in Dakota Spotlight episodes by sending email to info@sixhorsemedia.com Email: dakotaspotlight@gmail.com Facebook: https://facebook.com/groups/dakotaspotlight Learn more about your ad choices. This week, Bob interviews Jamie Pultz, creator of the “Beenham Valley Road” podcast, as part of October's Domestic Violence Awareness Month series. A former police officer in Queensland, Australia, Jamie left the force and launched his production company, Six10 Media, aptly named after the police code for “community assistance.” Since its inception, Jamie has produced several investigative podcasts, including Beenham Valley Road. Before diving into the subject of the BVR podcast, Bob and Jamie discuss how Jamie went from “fighting crime to fighting grime,” what it's like to switch careers, and Bob's new book idea. They then transition into a discussion of the case, the death of Kirra Mcloughlin. While in the police force, Jamie encountered Kirra during a domestic violence call, during which she refused help from law enforcement. Six months later, Kirra died from a traumatic brain injury. Her boyfriend claimed that Kirra had gotten into an altercation with his sister during a social gathering, but he did not call for aid until later the following day. When Kirra was taken to the hospital, it was reported that she had over 100 bruises on her body, and she was ultimately pronounced brand dead and taken off life support. To this day, no charges have been brought regarding her death, but thanks to the Beenham Valley Road podcast, public attention is being brought back to the case.
