Episode 392 of RevolutionZ uncovers and visits a half-century-old file on my computer to address a surprisingly urgent question: are we building new revolutionary ideas, or just renting space in inherited ones. I recently rediscovered the text of my 1974 book What Is To Be Undone? written when the arguments between Marxism-Leninism, Maoism, anarchism, and other currents were not academic history but living fuel for organizing. Reading my own early investigations as the Sixties slipped into the Seventies feels like opening a time capsule and realizing the contents still impact what people believe is possible. On the same day, a friend pointed me toward Gabriel Rockhill's Who Paid The Piper Of Western Marxism? and the storms around his claim that contemporary revolutionary theory drifted into a “respectable” left alignment with capitalism and imperialism. I share a long excerpt from Rockhill laying out his case: a purge of dialectical and historical materialism, class analysis pushed aside by culturalism, and a call to rebuild a disciplined, organized left that can actually win. We agree on the need to rejuvenate anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist struggle, but we very seriously diverge on whether the path forward is a return to classical Marxism-Leninism and democratic centralism or a break from their limits. From there, I grapple with a personal and political test: was my younger and then on-going self part of the problem Rockhill describes, or was I trying to learn from past failures to strengthen future movements. Along the way I revisit blurbs from Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, and Herb Gintis, reflect on the dangers of sectarian dismissal, and end with Bob Dylan's “My Back Pages” as a reminder that clarity sometimes comes from letting go of certainty. This episode begins another sequence of episodes whose number of entries depends on what seems the case. Me then and now: a deluded, deceived, sell out CIA symp rejector of Marxism Leninism, or me then and now a sincere whipper snapper trying to overcome past ideological problems on the way to a better society? Is our ideological problem anti anti imperialism, as Rockhill asserts, or is it that in going forward from the Sixties we actually retained too much from dead men's minds? This episode is a scene setting opening shot on the way to aggressively and hopefully definitively determining which way we need to orient our thinking Back to classical Marxism Leninism, or forward to a participatory self managing future.Support the show

As we keep building on the coming prophetic word about the "Winds of Change," we must biblically be able to posture ourselves for this change. Listen in for this new positioning.
SEASON 4 EPISODE 84: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (3:00) SPECIAL COMMENT: Back from a week off just in time to put the podcast on health hiatus...details within today's supersized edition. Plus, befitting the time off, some meta pictures on how Democrats should plan for what they want this country to look like on its 300th anniversary, if it lasts that long. Will we have jailed Trump and gotten back the money he took? Undone his damage? Eliminated the anachronistic idea that Wyoming should have as many senators as California? Let the Supreme Court continue to lie, cheat and steal the democracy from under us? As John Candy said in "Splash": Think big, be big, my friend. MORE IMMEDIATELY: Whaddya mean the Governor of Virginia hasn't been BRIEFED on the way to overturn her state's Supreme Court's usurpation of redistricting? Why the hell not Hakeem Jeffries? Anybody notice Trump is simply rotating the same three lies about Iran? Why are only independent journalists like Garrett Graff still covering the WHCD non-shooting when the New York Times is doing 31 paragraphs on the future of the dinner like anybody gave a crap? AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: stop saying Trump is painting everything GOLD. That color is not GOLD. It is the color of WEE WEE. Say it. Use the clinical terms, use the gutter terms. The gutter terms define this idiot president. Stop saying gold when you mean whizzzzzzzzzzzzzz. B-Block (56:00) ON THE PASSING OF TED TURNER: Hard to believe few of the obituaries mentioned how he also invented 7-day-a-week sports on national television. Or how Jane Fonda kept him from destroying himself in, like, 1982. One particularly harrowing saga had him telling the lowest ranking staffer at CNN's Washington Bureau which way, when he finally decided he'd do it, he'd do it. And this is said with admiration and affection for the man who created the place where I and so many of the figures of the last 45 years began our TV careers. C-Block (1:30:00) ALL TED ALL THE TIME: I was holding back until I was certain I wouldn't jinx him. My beloved first rescue dog, Ted, was up against it last fall. I took him to the University of Florida for life-saving open heart surgery and boy, did they! Eight hours on the table, eight hours of SICU, all for an eight pound dog and now - he's not even on any medications! It's a long story and I would insist it's worth hearing it. And if you have a dog (or know of one) moving from Mitral Valve Disease to Heart Failure, maybe this will provide you with hope - and an option.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Not surprisingly, the Bert Jansch Foundation has backed this release, but Grassie brings plenty of his own style and personality to bear here. Sam supplies vocals and acoustic guitars, with guests on saxophone, double bass, flute, clairsach, clarinet, and backing vocals. Audio Experiments by Steve Broomhead favorite track Reflekt Multi-instrumentalist Steve Broomhead offers this collection of pieces of music that he felt didn't fit with his other releases. They all fit quite nicely here, most are eerie and/or with a feeling impending doom, right up my deep and dark alley. Reflekt is very representative of the whole, although First Light also vies for my favourite. Topography of Mind by Telegraph favorite track Topography of Mind Israeli band Telegraph is a bit of a throwback to classic prog blended with psych and space rock. Instrumentation is the usual, guitars, bass, drums, plus synthesizers and other keyboards, and flute, with vocals as well. All of the tracks are epic in scope, as well as length, on this fine release. Nagalite by LILI REFRAIN favorite track Nagal This multi-instrumentalist and vocalist hails from Rome. The tracks are meditations on metamorphosis, evoking rituals and renewals by her eerie vocals and phantasmagorical production of the music. Instrumentation is guitars, bass, synths, bass drum, and drum machine. Enter the enthralling world evoked here. Glassman by jonasmeersmans favorite track Glassman Belgian fingerstyle guitarist and composer combines acoustic and electric guitars with looping layers, along with guests on violin, keyboards, double bass, and electric bass. The music touches on ambient, soundtrack, chamber, and jazz, in this ear-catching release. The Undone is Done Again by Tanya Donelly and Chris Brokaw favorite track Sainte Nicholaes Combining forces, Bostonians Tanya Donelly and Chris Brokaw reimagine some Medieval pieces using modern instrumentation. Tanya's haunting voice and Chris' brooding and echo-y guitars create a sense of antiquity, as if recorded in a monastery. Lizardcore by Iguanahead favorite track Sage Nifty hard psych band from Nashville, proving that not everyone there wears a cowboy hat. This trio utilizes the classic instrumentation of guitars, bass, and drums (vocals, too), adding dashes of metal, doom, and prog to lift this a cut above the others in this ouevre. Thy Shadow by Beautiful Death favorite track Thy Shadow Aussie solo artist influenced by dark metal utilizes the simple beauty of an acoustic guitar to bring dark folk themes to life. Unsurprisingly, there is a achingly melancholic thread throughout all of the pieces. Anti-war by Mind Overclock favorite track Anti-war These two songs could have been written during the Vietnam Era, yet sadly, they are new, because here we are again. They evoke much of the spirit of the anti-war movement of the times, and they do it so very well. Psych seems to go hand in hand with the idealism of peace and this band delivers it in spades.
In today's episode of Backpacker Radio presented by The Trek, brought to you by Topo Athletic, we are joined by Claire "Marmot" Dumont, a mapmaker, writer at The Trek, and thru-hiker who has completed the AT, Mountains to Sea Trail, Oregon Coast Trail, JMT, and more. In this one, Marmot walks us through what it's like to spend three months on trail with your dad, how a Fulbright fellowship brought her to Jordan to research land ethics and outdoor recreation, and what happened when COVID shut down the borders and kicked her off the Jordan Trail mid-hike. She also shares the story of assisting a rescue on Mount Washington and hitching out to town in the ambulance, what it meant to find a queer trail family on the AT and how she thinks about femininity and queer identity in spaces that have traditionally skewed pretty dude-bro, and why she will never apologize for hiking in a dress with an AeroPress in her pack. We wrap the show with a new YouTube channel from The Trek, some kick ass trail days we'll be hosting, how a billionaire game developer has been buying up thousands of acres of wilderness in North Carolina, asking whether we'd rather be able to thrive off of 4 hours of sleep, or have the full month of September off each year, the triple crown of BBQ foods, why Chaunce now likes inflatable sleeping pads, we reignite the gas station bathroom debate, and we opine on whether a listener should hike the AT as a flip flop or NOBO. Send us Fan MailWhen everything feels like it's slipping and we're trying to hold it together on the outside, the strain can be exhausting. We're talking to those moments when we feel undone, overwhelmed, and one pull away from unraveling—not with quick fixes or pressure, but with honest stories, Scripture, and a gentle way back to steady ground. We hold onto truth like Colossians 1:17, reminding us that in God all things hold together, and Psalm 61:2, giving us language when our hearts feel faint and we don't have the strength to push through. We also share what unraveling looks like in our real lives right now—walking through fear, uncertainty, and the weight of circumstances we didn't choose. From there, we offer a simple four-step practice: pause and notice, name what's happening inside, anchor in truth about who God is, and receive instead of striving. If you've ever wondered whether falling apart emotionally means you're failing spiritually, we want to say this clearly: it doesn't. There is a steady place to land, even here.Support the showLearn more about our Revelation Within Community: https://www.revelationwithin.org

America has entered into a just war with Iran, something that should've been done over 40 years ago. This is one many consequences of passing the buck to someone else. There is a cost when we don't do what God requires of us, whether it's Iran, abortion, LGBTQ, or Islam. We need to learn how Ancient Israel paid a very dear price when Joshua didn't complete the conquest God commanded, and how that affects us today.SUBSCRIBE TO THE CHANNEL: https://www.youtube.com/@TheCombatChristianTRIVITA:Use my TRIVITA link to get started on your wellness journey: https://bit.ly/HealthyChristianCovenant Eyes: If you want to protect yourself and your loved ones from the dangers of p*rn, getCovenant Eyes: https://bit.ly/Restore-CovenantUSE CODE RESTORE30 at checkout to get your first 30 days FREE when you use the link ✅Other ways foryou to support the ministry:
Food justice activists have worked to increase access to healthy food in low-income communities of color across the United States. Yet despite their best intentions, they often perpetuate food access inequalities and racial stereotypes. Hanna Garth shows how the movement has been affected by misconceptions and assumptions about residents, as well as by unclear definitions of justice and what it means to be healthy. Focusing on broad structures and microlevel processes, Garth reveals how power dynamics shape social justice movements in particular ways.Drawing on twelve years of ethnographic research, Garth examines what motivates people from more affluent, majority-white areas of the city to intervene in South Central Los Angeles. She argues that the concepts of "food justice" and "healthy food" operate as racially coded language, reinforcing the idea that health problems in low-income Black and Brown communities can be solved through individual behavior rather than structural change. Food Justice Undone: Lessons for Building a Better Movement (U California Press, 2026) explores the stakes of social justice and the possibility of multiracial coalitions working toward a better future. Hanna Garth is Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Princeton University, author of Food in Cuba: The Pursuit of a Decent Meal, and coeditor of Black Food Matters: Racial Justice in the Wake of Food Justice. Reighan Gillam is Associate Professor in the Department of Latin American, Latino, and Caribbean Studies at Dartmouth College. Her research examines the ways in which Afro-Brazilian media producers foment anti-racist visual politics through their image creation. She is the author of Visualizing Black Lives: Ownership and Control in Afro-Brazilian Media (University of Illinois Press). Learn more about your ad choices. Tim Peck was an experienced homicide detective who worked on some of the country’s most notorious murder investigations, including the Maria Korp ‘body in the boot’ case. But the things that made him a crack detective, would also be the things that slowly brought him undone. In this special episode of Naked City, Peck shares his rise and fall, and rise again, with John Silvester. This episode includes a confronting discussion about suicide.
