Habakkuk's Crisis of Faith Habakkuk 1:12 - 2:1
Sunday Morning Service, January 7, 2024
One of the more influential verses in all of God's Word is first delivered to Habakkuk, "the righteous shall live by faith". This verse would go on to be repeated 3 other times in the New Testament. When adversity strikes and/or when sin creeps at the door, our charge as followers of Christ is to live by faith. There is no nothing else that will allow us to conquer this world than that. Take hope and comfort that God listens to your prayers, and will answer in His perfect timing. Until then, live by faith.

In this passage, God gives Habakkuk a third answer to his questions. He discusses His plans for the future, His plans for the Righteous, and His plans for the Wicked. God's answer describes the Babylonians and how wicked they truly were, and he tells Habakkuk to write down everything He wants the future generations to know. In this sermon, Pastor Christopher talks about how one can become righteous in the sight of God, and how to earn that righteousness. He talks about the description of Idols, and how God looks at them. Can we become righteous by works? How do we grow in our Christian life? Thanks for listening! LAKEVIEW MISSIONARY CHURCH, 810 S. There is no doubt that the times we live are dangerous for Christians. It seems like not a day goes by that there isn't a new law passed somewhere in this country restricting our religious freedoms or outright criminalizing some aspect of Christianity. How do we cope with the threats to our freedoms? Well, the title of today's message should give you a hint - it's titled “Living By Faith”.
Today we bring you a message from a book in the bible that is often times overlooked, but contains some valuable and practical lessons for us - the book of Habakkuk. The times we are currently living in are unique, to say the least. What we need a good dose of faith - and where we place that faith is vitally important. Our study in Habakkuk today points us to the only source of true and lasting hope - Jesus Christ.
3 For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. 4 “Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him, but the righteous shall live by his faith
Take your complaint to the Lord and have faith in His goodness and sovereignty.
A prophetic message of God's awareness and authority is given to develop faith in all of us.
Paul in his great letter to the Romans expounds the righteousness of God in saving his people. Paul quotes this prophet in his statement of the theme of his letter to the Romans. --For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, -The righteous shall live by faith.- Romans 1-16-17 quoting Habakkuk 2-4.- in Romans 3-21 he explains that -the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it- the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe.--Habakkuk, a prophet bears witness to God's righteousness and then furnishes an example of loving by faith in the true God. His prophecy is easily divided into 3 sections.-Chapter 1 The prophets complaint that wickedness and violence fills the land and God needs to do something. Why aren't you putting a stop to this evil of your people the Hebrews blatantly breaking the Mosaic covenant.--God answers- I am doing something. Something you would never imagine I am sending the Babylonians to judge my people and rid the land of their wickedness.--Habakkuk What- How could you-- These people are the worst of the worst. How can the holy God use the greater evil to judge your people. I will go on the rooftop and wait for God to answer me. God answered and his answer fill the prophet with dread yet he had confidence in God . His responsive prayers demonstrates living by faith in the holy righteous God who is the God of our salvation.

We can respond in faith to life's challenges by remember what God has done, accept what he is doing, and trusting that he will do it again.
A sermon from the book of Habakkuk.
Faith is not based upon the outcomes we can immediately see but upon God's character and promises. Our faith can choose to trust that God know, cares, and is acting for us.
When life is hard and it feels like God could do more, how we understand God's answer to our tough questions will either weaken or strengthen our faith.
Tyler and Andy dive in once again into the book of the prophet Habakkuk as the prophet continues to ask questions about God, his character, and his plans for the world. God responds in challenging, surprising, and inspiring ways
What is true saving faith? And how is it different from unbelief? On today's Text-Driven Tuesday Jay and George are discussing Habakkuk 2:4-5 and three contrasts between faith and unbelief. Conformed to Christ aims to engage the mind, affect the heart, and call people to follow Christ. Additionally, our aim is to introduce and explain passages of Scripture and difficult theological doctrines in a down-to-earth and easy-to-grasp manner. Theology and the Bible should impact your life and our goal is that we might play a small part in seeing that happen. ***Be sure to subscribe on iTunes, Google Podcasts, Spotify, or Podbean*** iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/conformed-to-christ/id1503247486 Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkLnBvZGJlYW4uY29tL2NvbmZvcm1lZHRvY2hyaXN0L2ZlZWQueG1s Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5YruCZu4hla6Ll3rBu7UPY Podbean: https://conformedtochrist.podbean.com
