This was an amazing interview. Karen was funny and gracious and so easy to talk to. She has taken over social media with her relatable videos about teachers and parents. She is a freelance artist and improviser in Atlanta, Georgia, who performs mainly at Dad's Garage Theatre Company. She is an ensemble member and teacher at Dad's Garage and has called it her theatre home for the last 12 years. She has been teaching improv for the past 10 years at various places including The Actor's Scene, Dad's Garage, Portfolio Center, Piedmont School of Atlanta, and others. One of her teaching highlights was when she had the honor of being an improv coach for 3 consecutive years at Improv Camp in Vancouver, Canada. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Lucky Yates graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from Wayne State University, the Motor City's finest acting academy. After kicking around New York City for a couple years, Yates found himself in Atlanta, Georgia, where the players play. It was there that he discovered his love for two things: puppetry, thanks to the Center for Puppetry Arts, and improv comedy, thanks to Dad's Garage Theatre Company. Using the skills he learned from these fine institutions, Yates has found some sweet success. He played some grouches in the hit film Elmo in Grouchland, played a zillion characters (including "The Dungeon Master") in Good Eats with Alton Brown, appeared in several shows on Adult Swim and even introduced high-brow films for FilmStruck (RIP).
