Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Lucky Yates graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from Wayne State University, the Motor City's finest acting academy. After kicking around New York City for a couple years, Yates found himself in Atlanta, Georgia, where the players play. It was there that he discovered his love for two things: puppetry, thanks to the Center for Puppetry Arts, and improv comedy, thanks to Dad's Garage Theatre Company. Using the skills he learned from these fine institutions, Yates has found some sweet success. He played some grouches in the hit film Elmo in Grouchland, played a zillion characters (including "The Dungeon Master") in Good Eats with Alton Brown, appeared in several shows on Adult Swim and even introduced high-brow films for FilmStruck (RIP).

It's a special NYCC animated series interview special! Jimmy sat in on the round tables for Archer and chatted with Adam Reed, Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walter, Judy Greer, Amber Nash, and Lucky Yates. For Rick and Morty, it was Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland. China, IL brought us Brad Neely, Daniel Weidenfeld, and Brooke Hogan. Great rooms all (especially for Archer). Leave your iTunes comments! 5 stars and nothing but love! Thanks for listening!
Dr. Algernop Krieger, the one-man R&D department for ISIS on the FX show Archer, is by far the most lovable mad scientist Hitler clone on television. Actor, improviser and puppeteer Matt "Lucky" Yates voices Krieger on the show. And while he doesn't share his on-screen counterpart's interests in resurrecting the dead, selling arms to the highest bidder or bickering with his hologram bride, Yates has led a colorful life in his own right. In addition to his work on Archer, Yates recently opened up to us about his work as an additional puppeteer on Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland, the time he almost named himself Sheriff Yates and the year and a half he was married to a local on a Cherokee Indian reservation.
