Welcome to HFA's Sunday Church service. We are so excited that you chose to spend some time with us today! We pray that Jesus would speak to you today, comfort you and bring you peace. Listen as Pastor Joseph Simpson brings us his Sunday message on “Transition to Transformation.” We invite you to comment below, say hi, let us know how you're doing.
December 15th, 1995 was a typical winter night in Utah. Cold. In fact, bitter cold, especially in the resort town of Midway which is nestled in the middle of the Wasatch Mountain Range. But that night a young 17 yr old girl, Krystal Beslanowitch, was scared enough to jump out of a vehicle where she and a man were having sex, and run hundreds of meters to escape him. She was wearing nothing but a pair of socks. Sadly, the man caught up to her and brutally beat her to death with several river rocks, then left her bloody body laying unceremoniously by the banks of the Provo River. A farmer and his son found the body the next morning. 911 was called and the responding deputy, Todd Bonner, began the investigation that would span 18 years. Deputy Bonner eventually became Sheriff Bonner, and despite a change in responsibilities he never forgot Krystal, nor did he ever give up. Eventually technologies were developed that enabled the investigators to not only identify those that were the last to be with Krystal, but also the man who gripped the rocks that ended her life. In this episode we take to you the crime scene, hear from Sheriff Bonner and ADA McKay King - who helped prosecute the murderer Joseph Simpson - and give you a first hand accounting of the crime. Please subscribe, share and leave us a comment! Carter is joined by regular contributor Joseph Simpson to discuss the often maligned and unwieldy genre of true crime; its many contradictory forms, and why Americans in particular love getting our entertainment from real life violence.

On this episode, Carter spoke with regular Crossfader contributor Joseph Simpson to discuss his recent feature on Crossfader called "The Annihilation of Netflix." We discussed how streaming platforms seem to be dealing the final death-blow to the movie theater industry as we've known it, and try to parse how much this is the responsibility of movie-goers, and how much blame remains with the studios that fail to give interesting filmmakers the opportunities they deserve. Joseph's feature can be found here: http://www.xfdrmag.net/the-annihilation-of-netflix/ This episode was edited by our exceptional intern, Ben Pham.

Joseph Simpson is Director and Chief Engineer at The Locking Cap, responsible for all product innovation, market development and public outreach. Joseph began developing The Locking Cap his senior year of high school, after witnessing, first hand, how destructive prescription drug abuse can be. After years of perseverance and numerous trials, Joseph, now 23 years old, has finally developed a product that he believes will help combat the prescription abuse epidemic that nearly tore his own family apart—The Locking Cap, a combination lock prescription vial cap. Joseph concurrently attends school at Sacramento State University, pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Marketing. He expects to graduate in the winter of 2012. Joseph has always been very passionate about sports, and continues to integrate them into his extracurricular schedule. He has been on golf, soccer and cross-country teams. In addition to The Locking Cap and pursuing his undergraduate degree, Simpson also acts as VP of Marketing/Support Expert with EYE in America. This early experience not only helped fund his education, but also provided him with the necessary entrepreneurial skills he needed to embark on his next venture—The Locking Cap. Today, Joseph lives in Sacramento, California. Joseph is very involved in such sports as golfing, waterskiing, swimming and snowboarding. In his free time, his passion for the outdoors extends to fishing, hiking and boating. Joseph also loves to travel.
