According to an alleged leaked studio document, a "game plan" for the future of Star Wars has been devised and it includes very specific directives, like what era should all shows be based in, how often the films and shows should happen, and what's this about an "overarching framework" for all upcoming Star Wars stories? We look at what the document contains and provide our takes. Steve Sansweet, Star Wars fan ambassador, author, and Friend of RFR, checks in to tell us all about his amazing new show The Saga Vault. Steve reveals to us how he acquired his rocket-firing prototype Boba Fett action figure, and gets us caught up on everything happening at Rancho Obi-Wan. We love whenever Steve checks in! We compare the experiences of Maul: Shadow Lord and The Mandalorian and Grogu and pick which we liked best, we get the latest info about Star Wars: Starfighter via interview highlights from actor Matt Smith, we discuss the usage of Huttese in the Mando movie and more!
On this episode Chris, Ben and Dom talk even more about The Mandalorian And Grogu, this time touching on Sigourney Weaver's Colonel Ward and the New Republic's role in the film. Furthermore they discuss how Star Wars has handled its tertiary characters throughout its history, as well as examining the great, and sometimes not-so-great ways new stories have attempted to recreate the classic cantina scene. Plus, did The Mandalorian And Grogu go too far with all of those director cameos? And when exactly will the movie begin dropping on home video and streaming? Tune in for all of that and so much more! Is Disney still worth it in 2026? Short answer: yes. In this episode we are breaking down exactly why 2026 is actually a really great time to visit Walt Disney World. We talk about what just reopened, Rock and Roller Coaster with its new Muppets theming, Millennium Falcon Smuggler's Run now featuring Mando and Grogu, Big Thunder Mountain back and smoother than ever, and the new Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse live show in Animation Courtyard. We also get into the promotions available right now, including free kids dining when you book a room and dining package, and free water park entry on check-in day through September 8th. And we talk about why fall is one of the best times to visit, from Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party to the holiday season that follows. On this episode of Film On Tap, Tom, Andres and Nancy discuss the trailers for How To Rob A Bank and Onslaught. They also dive deep into their spoiler-filled thoughts on both Obsession and The Mandalorian And Grogu!
In this episode, Fr. Brian and Fr. Matt talk about the big summer movies they're looking forward to seeing (and maybe reviewing on a future episode of Cinema Verbi?), what movies they've seen recently, and review the latest film in the Star Wars universe: The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026).
For years Chris and Daniel have been saying the corner was going to turn, that history would repeat itself the way it did in the 1970s. It turned. Jason Blum said the same thing last week. Two horror films made by twenty-something YouTubers just proved everything the studio system has been getting wrong, and the box office numbers are not being polite about it. Obsession cost under a million dollars. Backrooms cost ten million. Both are outperforming movies that cost a hundred times more. Chris and Daniel break down both films as filmmakers. They get into what Obsession borrows from Takashi Miike's Audition and why that works, how Backrooms uses the architecture of infinite scroll and TikTok as genuine psychological horror, why sound design and shadows are a more effective budget tool than any AI pipeline, what the economics of AMC A-list are doing to studio revenue models, and why the wrong lesson from all of this is to go hire these directors to make a Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel. Referenced in this episode: Obsession (2025) Backrooms (2026) Audition (1999, dir. Takashi Miike) Avatar 3 (2025) The Odyssey (Christopher Nolan) (2026) Mandalorian and Grogu (2026) AMC A-list > A24 > Blumhouse > This episode is sponsored by: Center Grid Virtual Studio Kitbash 3D (Use promocode "CGGarage" for 10% off)

Comenzamos nuestra discusión de la película The Mandalorian & Grogu con impresiones generales y el efecto de las expectativas en nuestra percepción. Nos envolvimos tanto que se nos acabó el tiempo y hemos dividido la reseña en varias partes.
Allegedly, Star Wars has lost 85% of its fan base, but that's only when comparing The Force Awakens box office to The Mandalorian and Grogu. Clever article title but to be fair, that's just not accurate. While Disney Star Wars has definitely alienated its core audience over the years, I don't think it's a fair comparison being made here. I do think, however, that more fans are being pushed away with bad stories by the day, than what Lucasfilm will admit to, at least under Kathleen Kennedy. Hopefully, Dave Filoni has a plan going forwards which we will discuss in the next video. It's our "Mandalorian & Grogu" special episode where Christian Bladt is joined by fan-favorites Eric Conner and Adam "Hughezy" / "The H Man" Hughes to discuss the latest offering from the Star Wars universe, which is the big-screen debut of our friends Din Jarron, The Mandalorian, and his young ward Grogu. This episode was long-delayed for our audio-only audience, because there had been an expectation of recording a second part to this episode with some other friends of the show, but, said friends ended up not seeing it. So, the lesson learned: don't be afraid to do three episodes on the same movie. Don't hold back for fear of clogging up feeds with repetition... especially since that's what we've been doing for almost 14 years over here on the Bladtcast.

A lost audio artifact has resurfaced, and it is pure pop culture gold! We're talking about the ultimate, mind-melting crossover event: George Lucas and Robin Williams going deep during the peak Attack of the Clones era. Back in the early 2000s, George Lucas sat down with Robin Williams for a wide-ranging conversation about Star Wars and filmmaking. This full interview was removed from the internet many years ago but it has been made available again and review a few choice highlights of when The Maker met Mork. Plus, we have clips of Brendan Wayne discussing The Mandalorian and Grogu, along with listener feedback about the Mando movie and the potential for a Cal Kestis film. And, was the quote "This Is The Way" stolen from Game of Thrones? Did Grogu once actually say "This is the way" in an episode of The Mandalorian? We break it all down and look ahead to next year's Star Wars: Starfighter with speculation about the plot, characters and more!
In this free-for-all-Friday Trent gives his review of the latest Star Wars films.
On this episode Ben and Chris are joined once again by Joel Davis from the Eye On Canon Podcast to talk more about The Mandalorian And Grogu! This time they focus on Rotta The Hutt, discussing his impact on the story, how he looked and moved from a technical point of view, and his very meta relationship with Grogu. Furthermore, Eman Esfandi gives an update on Ahsoka season two, Star Wars: Starfighter is basically done according to Matt Smith, Disney is still paying rent to George Lucas after all these years, and a new rumor may shed some light on Lucasfilm and Disney's overall goals for Star Wars. One of the first potential Geek Blockbusters of the season has come (and gone) from theaters, and The Guys are wondering if it is a bust, indeed. Robbie's annual birthday movie was spent at The Mandalorian and Grogu and his immediate reaction was: No-gu. Jay and Art had to see it for themselves so they invested in a discounted matinee ticket and went in with low expectations. Final verdict? Entertaining, but they had questions. Is it a kids' movie with excessive violence? Why was Sigourney on the journey? Why isn't Scorcese muppetized in more films? How many months do they have to work out to go from a Jabba body to a Rotta build? The questions aren't serious…and it's hard to tell if the movie is. But it certainly generated a lot of discussion. Art also sneaks in a popcorn bucket announcement, Jay's interest in toys may have turned him into a Swiftie, and Robbie laments what may be the final demise of his most favorite show ever…unless it is miraculously regenerated. Also regenerated: this podcast, every week for almost 400 weeks. The Guys don't believe it either.

It's Summer and the At The Flicks team are avoiding the heat / rain by going as often to the cinema as they can! On one of these trips, the team watched the first Star Wars film for 7 years – The Mandalorian and Grogu. This spin off from the Disney+ TV series (ok the plot outline was originally designed for season 4), has plenty of action, horrific creatures and the lovable baby Yoda or as he is better known, Grogu. They were so impressed they felt they had to talk about it. Joining Jeff and Graham for this pop-up review show is Gloucestershire reporter and Star Wars enthusiast Steve Knibbs. Being a big fan of the Star Wars universe, Steve can bring to light the nuances that our two regulars often miss (not difficult at their respective ages). However, before we talk Star Wars, Steve was asked about another event that is watched around the world – his reporting on the famous Gloucester Cheese Rolling which recently took place on Cooper's Hill. To find out Steve's thoughts on this landmark event and of course The Mandalorian feature film, you will have to check out this current episode. We believe this is worth your time – a half hour well spent in great company. More Summer reviews will follow when we do our usual wrap up show of the season with Phil The Bear. Expect fireworks in that one as I am sure Jeff and Phil will have different opinions on what they watch. Until then, maybe we will see you At The Flicks this Summer? Bye for now.
Jim Hill and Lauren Hersey are back with a merch-packed episode that starts at Target, swings through Walt Disney World, and lands deep in Mickey Mouse history. Lauren shares what she spotted on her latest Florida trip, from Muppets merch and Uncle Deadly deep cuts to Disney's colorful new Logo Mania collections. Then Jim looks back at Disney's repeated attempts to give Mickey Mouse a milestone birthday celebration big enough for the big screen, and why those plans often arrived late, changed shape, or became something else entirely. NEWS • Golden Girls returns to the bookstore with Death on the Lanai, the second mystery novel in Disney's sitcom-inspired series. • Target's Disney Fan Snacks line brings character-shaped chips to the aisle, including Darth Vader corn chips and Grogu-inspired flavors. • Toy Story 5 merch arrives early with Ginormous, a truly oversized plush pig that may require its own shopping cart. • Lauren checks out Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets merch, including Kermit keychains, Miss Piggy gear, and Animal-focused designs. • Walt Disney World's Logo Mania collections lean into color-coded Disney fan moments, from Last Day of Trip Blues to Popcorn on Main Street. FEATURE • Jim revisits how The Sorcerer's Apprentice began as a Mickey birthday short before growing into Fantasia. • Disney's planned Jack and the Beanstalk feature for Mickey's 15th birthday was derailed by World War II and eventually reshaped into Fun and Fancy Free. • Mickey's 60th birthday brought a star-studded NBC special and the temporary Magic Kingdom land that became surprisingly permanent. • The abandoned Search for Mickey Mouse would have sent Disney characters across the animated canon before evolving into Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers. Seven years between Star Wars films, and the galaxy came back with a tin-can dad, a green gremlin, and a muscled teenage Hutt with an identity crisis. Matthew Fox of Star Wars Generations joins Pete Wright, Justin Jaeger, and Ocean Murff on The Film Board to work through all of it — the parts that soar, the parts that drag, and the twenty minutes in a swamp that made everyone forget they were watching a puppet. The panel is split on the Swole Hutt (Ocean is in, Pete is out), united on Ludwig Göransson's score, and divided on whether this is a movie or just the best three episodes of a Mandalorian season that never got made. Martin Scorsese shows up as an informant and somehow steals the room. Sigourney Weaver shows up as a character and somehow doesn't. The question the table keeps circling: did Star Wars prove it belongs in theaters, or did it prove Ocean right all along?Full show notes and resources: HereThis episode on The Film Board: The Lunchbox Mandalorian • Mandalorian and Grogu**************************************************************************This episode is a production of Star Wars Generations, an Ethical Panda podcast and part of the TruStory FM Entertainment Podcast Network. Send us Fan MailA Star Wars movie is back in theaters, and we walk out with the most predictable outcome possible: all of us have opinions. Mandalorian And Grogu gives us a big-screen dose of Din Djarin, Grogu cuteness, and creature-driven chaos, but it also raises a real question about what a theatrical Star Wars film should feel like in 2026. Are we here for a simple, rewatchable adventure, or do we need heavier stakes and a clear franchise-shifting arc?We get into what worked for us, from the Anzellans (big Babu Frik energy) to the surprisingly fun lore bits and the craft that still makes this corner of the galaxy feel tangible. We debate whether Grogu shows real growth, how the story leans into fatherhood, and why some moments land harder when you frame them as a “son protecting his dad” story. We also talk pacing, action fatigue, and why the movie can feel like a stitched-together season run instead of a standalone event. Then we go deeper on the meta stuff Star Wars fans love to argue about: marketing, trailers that don't tease a hook, Disney Plus vs theatrical storytelling, and how the “Imperial warlords” thread may be tied to bigger plans like Rangers of the New Republic and the long-dreamed Heir to the Empire direction. Plus, we shout out Ludwig Göransson's score and the theater audio experience that genuinely elevates key scenes. If you've seen Mandalorian And Grogu, come hang with our takes, then tell us yours. Matt and Jordan review HBO’s Sundance acquisition Miss You Love You. And while Jordan finds it to be a handsome, moving, and well-acted "filmed play", Matt finds too modest and predictable. For Rec Seg, Matt revisits the grueling, ice-cold dread of corporate culture with a 2019 workplace thriller, while Jordan counters with a classic 1982 Sidney Lumet thriller packed with more twists, turns -- and smooches! Finally, Jordan takes the reins as Dungeon Master for a game called On a Wing and a Prayer. Chapters / Timecodes (Timecodes/chapters may not be precise with ads.) The Mandalorian and Grogu star (not Pedro Pascal) Brendan Wayne has said some things I agree with, but also some things I don't in regards to the Star Wars fandom and this obsession with calling passionate fans 'toxic' if they don't like something in Star Wars or feel an expectation to sticking to pre-existing lore. With the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu in our rear windows, we're shifting focus to next year's Ryan Gosling-led Star Wars: Starfighter. We break down all the news and latest rumors, including stuff we've been told by those in-the-know. Plus, we review interview highlights from director Shawn Levy and Amy Adams. Will Starfighter be a lead-in for the next Star Wars trilogy? We discuss the possibility. But we're not done with the Mando movie - We review the Theater Ears app's Jon Favreau director commentary track and discuss the experience. Plus, listener feedback on the expectations placed on the film and the shifting tastes of filmgoers. And directly from the NBA Finals, Victor Wembanyama from the Spurs is a huge Star Wars fan and we look at the evidence.
In light of The Mandalorian and Grogu (and the Disney+ Darth Maul cartoon), we (Mark, Lawrence, Sarahlyn, and Al) check back in with Star Wars. Is it now "just another franchise"? Does the movie meet expectations? What's the right volume of Star Wars media? Are the cartoons good? What variety of creators and genres is there room for? Should anyone bother with the books and comics? Get more at prettymuchpop.com. Get an ad-free experience, plus bonus talking for nearly every episode at patreon.com/prettymuchpop.
We will, eventually, get to the second set of Vader comics. But first, the gang imagines how they're going to react to The Mandalorian and Grogu. Because of course our patrons have already heard our reaction! Then they discuss how Vader has to sabotage yet another investigation into his own treachery, and Dr. Aphra's character arc as well as her academic credentials.
