Mark Slade joins us live for this Monaco GP preview - and of course there'll be no shortage of storylines. How will the electric-ICE 2026 F1 cars perform around Monaco? Will the great corners in the Principality still be great? Which cars will the circuit favour? Can Monaco's hero, Charles Leclerc, bounce back from a difficult Canadian GP weekend? Or can Sir Lewis Hamilton sustain his momentum at Ferrari? Could Kimi Antonelli actually make it five in a row for Mercedes? Or maybe McLaren-Mercedes will put together a straightforward weekend and finally win a '26 race. And then there's Max. Given the variables of Monaco,  not the least of which is the weather, those who discount Red Bull and Max Verstappen do so at their peril... Look for all these talking-points and more - as we are joined live on YouTube chat with some great questions and comments from our listeners.Mark Slade has served in the roles of Race Engineer and Chief Engineer at McLaren, Mercedes, Renault and Haas. ESG StuffBP removes chairman Albert Manifold over governance issues 9The board said the decision was unanimous. In a statement, Amanda Blanc, BP's senior independent director, described the board as having been caught off guard by what it found: "The board has been surprised and disappointed to learn of governance oversight and conduct issues it deems unacceptable and has taken decisive action."The company did not elaborate on the specific nature of the concerns.Ian Tyler has been named interim chair, BP said, with the board set to begin a formal process to identify a permanent successor: "The Board and leadership team have deep conviction in the strategic direction we have laid out, and the company is moving at pace to deliver it."Manifold took up the chairmanship just last October. At last month's annual general meeting, just 81.8% of shareholders backed his electionAmong the most consequential decisions of Manifold's short tenure: pushing out former CEO Murray Auchincloss and overseeing the selection of Meg O'Neill to succeed him — a hire that marked the first time BP had recruited an external CEO and the first time a woman had led one of the oil industry's largest players.Tulsi Gabbard Exit Marks Fourth Woman to Leave Trump Cabinet 0Apology TourBank boss sorry after describing workers as 'lower value human capital' 7Standard Chartered CEO Bill Winters triggered a massive PR firestorm by describing the bank's plan to replace back-office staff with automation as replacing "lower-value human capital" with financial investmentStandard Chartered is cutting roughly 7,800 jobs—representing about 15% of its global back-office corporate support roles—over the next four years to make room for AIAfter internal anger and blistering public criticism, Winters posted a formal apology for his "choice of words." However, he initially fueled the fire by attaching the full interview transcript to justify his broader context, drawing further criticism for being defensiveIn his first attempt to quiet the storm, Winters leaned heavily into the corporate strategy rather than apologizing for the specific phrasing: "I said that lower-value roles are more vulnerable to automation, and that we have a responsibility to help colleagues move into higher-value roles. That is what a responsible employer should do. We will continue to speak honestly about the impact of technological change, and we will continue to act responsibly in helping our people to adapt and succeed."After a barrage of negative comments on his first post, Winters returned to LinkedIn later that day to offer an explicit apology for his phrasing: "I have received a lot of support for the messages in my previous post but still get questions about my choice of words, which I know has caused upset to some colleagues. For that I am sorry.""I think the transcript makes it clear that I value our colleagues – all of them – most highly and that we are totally committed to helping them to cope with the accelerating pace of change in our industry."JPMorgan's Jamie Dimon says bank chief's viral AI comment was 'inartful' Dimon downplayed the viral backlash against Standard Chartered CEO Bill Winters—who drew fire for saying his bank would replace "lower-value human capital" with technology—calling it an "inartful" slip-of-the-tongue from a friend.Neopbabies and Dropout babiesJames Murdoch to acquire New York Magazine and Vox Media Podcast Network -1Bolt CEO says he let go of his entire HR team for creating problems that didn't exist: ‘Those problems disappeared when I let them go' 6Bolt CEO Ryan Breslow justified firing his entire Human Resources department by claiming they actively manufactured internal frictionThe aggressive purge follows a brutal 97% collapse in Bolt's valuation—crashing from an $11 billion peak in 2022 down to $300 millionTraditional HR has been entirely swapped for a skeletal "people operations" team, shifting the focus away from employee complaints and internal processes toward basic compliance training and empowering managers to make split-second decisionsAlongside gutting HR, Breslow rolled back employee-friendly benefits like four-day workweeks and unlimited PTO, claiming a culture of complacency had taken over and that 99% of his legacy workforce was simply unwilling to work hardRyan dropped out of Stanford in 2014 to launch BoltThe Middle School Boy Man Babies Rule the WorldMan Drives Cybertruck Into Lake to Test Elon Musk's “Boat” Claims, and It Went About as Well as You'd Guess -10"The passengers abandoned the vehicle and the driver was arrested."Tesla CEO Elon Musk:randomly tweeted that the vehicle would function as a rudimentary flotation device.“It will even float for a while.”“[The vehicle would be able to] traverse at least 100m [330 feet] of water as a boat.”“Cybertruck will be waterproof enough to serve briefly as a boat, so it can cross rivers, lakes and even seas that aren't too choppy.”Jeff Bezos urges US government to stop taxing 50% of America — and claims doubling his taxes won't help ‘that teacher in Queens' 400Jeff Bezos backs Mamdani's tax on luxury second homes, but says Ken Griffin isn't the villainJeff Bezos on Zohran Mamdani's big mistake: ‘When you don't know how to solve a problem, create a villain, blame them'Jeff Bezos says there is ‘no truth' to the ‘buy borrow die' tax strategyBillionaires Openly Use It: Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison has historically pledged over $30 billion worth of his Oracle stock as collateral for personal bank loans. Unlike traditional layoffs, which are enacted relatively quickly, Meta gave its employees a nearly month-long warning period without announcing who exactly would be headed for the unemployment line.In newly leaked audio from an all-hands meeting at Meta, released by More Perfect Union, the Meta CEO seems to actually be taunting the thousands of workers who were about to be let go by pointing to how the company was harvesting employee data to train its in-house AI models ahead of the massive layoffs.“So we're in a phase where basically the AI models learn from heaving real, from watching really smart people do things. And if you're trying to get it to be able to be able to do certain capabilities, having [AI] be able to observe really smart people doing those things is, is very important.”Going on, Zuckerberg explained that it was better to train AI on soon-to-be-former Meta employees, rather than “contract companies.”“In general, the average intelligence of the people who are at this company is significantly higher than the average set of people that you can get to do tasks if you're working through… contractors,” Zuckerberg stammered. “So if we're trying to teach the models coding, for example, then having people internally, um, build tools that, or, or solve tasks that, um, that help teach the model how to code, we think is going to dramatically increase our models coding ability faster than what others in the industry have the capability to do.”Intuit to Cut 17% of Staff, Invest in ‘Big Bets' 3The restructuring cost is estimated at about $300 million to $340 millionAbout 3,100 employees: and invest the savings in “big bets” as it makes artificial intelligence a centerpiece of its business.Woke WarsTexas AG Sues ISS Over ESG Considerations 0Texas AG Ken Paxton (in a senate race) is suing ISS for allegedly “misleading” customers by pushing “radical political agendas” through its proxy adviceNotably, ISS has attempted to obstruct ExxonMobil's planned reincorporation from New Jersey to Texas“ISS has enormous influence over how billions of dollars are invested and managed across this country, and they have abused that influence in order to push woke ideology”Iowa AG Brenna Bird sues ISS, says advice risks retirement savingsIowa Attorney General Brenna Bird is suing the world's largest proxy-advice firm for abusing its influence and threatening Iowans' retirement savings by "lying" to investors.Stakeholders Rule!Wells Fargo must pay $100M to help homebuyers after discrimination lawsuit — 51 cities are eligible 7The settlement, which was recently approved by a federal judge in California, comes after four years of legal disputes involving Wells Fargo shareholders, former employees and job applicants who accused the bank of systemic problems in both lending and hiring practices. While Wells Fargo denied wrongdoing, the company agreed to the deal to avoid prolonged litigation and mounting legal costs. The case centered on allegations that Wells Fargo's board failed to maintain adequate oversight of the bank's mortgage lending operations, exposing the company to regulatory scrutiny and accusations of discriminatory practices.According to reporting from Realtor.com, plaintiffs accused the bank of “widespread and systematic discrimination in lending” and cited concerns over lending algorithms and refinancing approval patterns. The lawsuit stated that Wells Fargo was allegedly the only major lender in 2020 to reject more refinancing applications from Black homeowners than it approved.Airbus, Air France Hit With Manslaughter Charges Over Pilot Training Failures in Deadly 2009 Flight 447 Crash 1A Paris appeals court delivered a dramatic verdict in one of the longest-running and most complex legal sagas in aviation history. The court overturned a 2023 acquittal and found both Airbus and Air France guilty of corporate manslaughter for the tragic 2009 crash of Flight AF447.The ruling marks a massive victory for the victims' families after a 17-year legal battle. A lower court had previously cleared the European planemaker and the French airline in 2023, ruling that while errors were made, a direct causal link to the crash couldn't be proven. The appeals court completely rejected that logic, declaring the companies "solely and entirely responsible" for the disaster.Ride-Share Drivers in Massachusetts Formally Unionize 100The App Drivers Union said it was the first organization in the country to be formally certified to represent drivers for apps such as Uber and Lyft.In a news release, the organization, the App Drivers Union, said it would represent nearly 70,000 workers in Massachusetts who now have the power to collectively bargain.MATTA very special “who do we blame for SpaceX IPO governance” gameFirst, some S-1 highlights:“Starlink internet is what's being used to pay for humanity getting to Mars.” - MuskTranslation: We don't care much about Starlink, it's just paying our AI billsHe's not kidding: $3.2bn revenue for Starlink, net income of $1.2m$0.6bn revenue for rocket ship, net income of -$0.6bn$0.8bn revenue for AI, net income of -$2.5bnThis isn't a space company - it's classic Musk - you buy the vision (“To build the systems and technologies necessary to make life multiplanetary, to understand the true nature of the universe, and to extend the light of consciousness to the stars.”), but what you're really buying is an internet company that spends all its money on AI and does some rockets on the sideLet someone else invent the car (Tesla) and make them sexy with “big visions” for “humanity”Let someone else invent the rockets, build new ones using someone else's moneyLet someone else invent the satellites, put a whole bunch in space (and buy more satellites from someone else)Musk initially took the role of “Chief Engineer”, but every engineering task seems to have been the other employees - he supplied the moneyShoehorned AI into space exploration because…?Grok is designed as a truth-seeking AI model, built on our founder Elon Musk's mission to enable humanity to understand the universe. We believe that accomplishing this mission requires a truth-seeking approach to AI. We define truth seeking as the active, relentless pursuit of what is objectively true about reality, and grounded in evidence, logic, empirical data, and first principles thinking.AI's ability to revolutionize human potential is directly dependent on meeting exponentially increasing resource demands. We now must go to space to get more resources for AI so we can get to spaceNow the governance who do you blame gameMusk will get:85% voting power (dual class, he owns 94% of Class B 10 vote shares and 12% of Class A shares)The ability to nominate and vote exclusively on >50% of the boardA board which currently includes..TWO execs - Gwynne Shotwell (President) and Musk (three titles)Tesla mafia: Ira Ehreinpreis, Tesla board sycophant, director at the Boring Company and xAI, and longtime Musk hanger on, added Feb 2026Antonio Gracias, ex Tesla director who was explicitly called out in the Tornetta decision as corrupted, cross party transactions with Musk, on boards of Neuralink and Boring Company, added Oct 2010TWO VC bros from DFJ - Randy Glein (SpaceX board observer for 16 years, directors since Feb 2026) and Steve Jurvestson (former Tesla director, director since March 2009) who was ousted from the VC firm with his name on it for sexual harassmentPaypal mafia:Luke Nosek, co founder of PayPal, one of the founders of Founders Fund with Thiel and Ken Howery, invested in DeepMind, director since July 2008Donald Harrison - managed Google purchase of DeepMind, relationship with Nosek, director since Feb 2015Director relationship tenures to Musk: Shotwell: 24 yearsEhreinpreis: 21 yearsGracias: 21 yearsJurvetson: 17 yearsGlein: 16 yearsNosek: 26 yearsHarrison: 11 years (+1 if Nosek/Deepmind connection counts)Texas jurisdiction exclusively (judge shopped) - 3% to sue them, mandatory arbitration, anti-takeover statutes, special meetings ONLY CALLED BY MUSK (no one less than 50% of stock can call a meeting or vote)No written consent - no prior noticeAdvance notice bylaws for the zero shareholder proposals allowedFull omission of board liability - including a provision that automatically allows whatever the conflicts of interest they want with directorsWHO (WHEN) DO YOU BLAME?The US GovernmentDepartment of Energy - in 2010, the DoE gave Tesla a $465m loan, which basically paid for the Model S and helped it buy a factory 6 months before it went public - Musk has said Tesla would not have survived without the loanNevada - in 2014, Nevada gave Musk $1.3bn to build a factory, the most everNASA - spent more than $15bn over years on SpaceX and programs with themThe IRS/Congress - the EV tax credit for $7,500 single handedly pushed Tesla from losing money in 2020 to making money (they effectively got $1.6bn from the US government in 2020), and showing its first profit, which sparked the memefest during COVID and made Musk the richest man on earth - Musk then went on and called for an end to the tax credit since his “competitors” needed it more than Tesla. Tesla made ~$11bn from tax credits aloneThe DoD - started paying SpaceX in 2003 for concept work - and even when the rockets didn't work, the DoD and NASA awarded the company massive contracts anywayJeff Bezos said in 2016 that, “Elon's real superpower is getting government money.”FOMOSpaceX LOSES MONEY - it does not make moneyIf it were a satellite internet company - and NOT THE FIRST - the first was HughesNet in 1996, and Viasat offered it in 2012 - it would make money ($1.2m in income!)Instead, investors are valuing SpaceX as THE LARGEST IPO IN THE HISTORY OF EVER despite the fact that they are burning money on AI, and arguably the worst AIIncluding spending the most on R&D, marketing, and acquisition of Cursor to make up for the fact that Grok suckedIn exchange for FOMO, investors have ENTIRELY GIVEN UP THEIR RIGHTSIt is 100% a private companyTornettaIf Tornetta hadn't sued for Musk's pay, would SpaceX be structured this way?The banks underwriting the dealWho AGREED TO BUY GROK as a term of getting the underwriting, because everyone bends the knee to moneyThe boardI guess

Wildfires have become more frequent and more destructive in recent years, increasingly threatening communities on the edges of — and sometimes within — our cities. What was once considered a distant risk is now a reality for millions of people living in urban areas. In this week's episode, both of our storytellers share their experiences with wildfires and the ways those encounters impacted them.Part 1: When wildfires erupt in Los Angeles, Tracy Drain's work on the Europa Clipper mission is suddenly at risk. Part 2: As a child, Victoria Dinov lives through a historic wildfire that stays with her long after the ashes settle. Tracy Drain is a systems engineer who has helped to develop, test and operate a variety of robotic spacecraft over the past 25 years. A life-long learner, she loves encouraging people to nurture their curiosity and explore the wonders that surround us. She serves on the planning committee for the National Academy of Science's Science and Entertainment Exchange and the advisory board for the University of Kentucky Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department. As a National Geographic Explorer, she takes audiences on a tour of our universe in her National Geographic Live show "Cosmic Adventures." In her spare time, she enjoys reading, taking long walks, watching random shows (primarily sci-fi, documentaries and Korean dramas) and studying languages - Spanish and… Korean! (If you see her on the street, please don't hesitate to teach her a joke in either of these languages.) Tracy works at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory where she is currently the Chief Engineer for the Europa Clipper mission. Victoria Dinov is a graduate student at Stanford studying energy science and engineering. She is passionate about providing data-driven research promoting the expansion of clean energy technologies. Her experiences with climate change in her hometown of San Diego inspired her to pursue a career focused on promoting clean energy for a healthier future for all.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

This week The Management Brief presents the second installment in our series on coaching across the lean community and the benefits of mutual learning — senior leaders with external and/or internal lean coaches as well as peer-to-peer relationships. These connections can deliver more value and open avenues of understanding and growth not possible when leaders try to go it alone. Mark Reich, LEI Chief Engineer Strategy, is joined by Desh Edirisuriya, General Manager, New Zealand Manufacturing and Business Excellence with Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, and Jim Luckman, LEI Coach and Partner in Lean Transformations Group. Fisher & Paykel is a manufacturer of respiratory care products based in Auckland, and the company is driven by an objective to improve care and outcomes for patients. Desh was instrumental in setting up the company's Business Excellence function. He was first exposed to lean during an extraordinary growth phase at the company, implementing tools and processes to solve the problem of scaling up. Desh has been with Fisher & Paykel for 25 years, along the way learning how to better understand his role as it has changed and where he must focus. Desh says Jim has helped him with that by “being sort of a mirror [to] get good feedback, reflect, and also help me see my role, my gaps, and then help me through developing a way to bridge those gaps.” Desh adds that he often does not know he's being coached by Jim, but inevitably he ends up changing his behavior as a result of their conversations. Jim spent 30 years with General Motors, including time at Delphi as a Chief Engineer, director of a site with 600 R&D people, and learning and practicing how to apply lean in R&D. He got involved in coaching after Delphi, and he sees coaching as a means to help individuals solve fundamental problems inside of their businesses from top to bottom, with “the right people solving the right problem at the right time.” He describes his experience with Desh as a “co-learning experience, it's not one way. I don't feel like a coach as much as a co-learner.” Topics that Mark addresses with Desh and Jim include: Experiments run by Desh at Fisher & Paykel with leaders, direct reports, and shopfloor teams to build social connections and create respectful dialogue among respective groups, and the challenges Desh has encountered with those experiments. Asking good questions that get people to think about what's actually going on instead of focusing on their own thinking and not listening to the person you want to do the thinking. Learnings achieved by Desh and Jim in their work together and their future plans. Interested in bringing a coach to your organization? Learn more at lean.org/CLP

With the Artemis II mission underway, this week on Monday Morning Radio, we're joined by Mark L. Fox—former Chief Engineer for NASA's Space Shuttle program and a legendary instructor at Wizard Academy. In a conversation recorded just 24 hours after the Artemis launch, Mark bridges the gap between lunar missions and terrestrial entrepreneurship. He discusses his latest venture, Resona Health, and how he's using PEMF (targeted electromagnetic pulses) to treat pain, depression, mild cognitive impairment, and dozens of other ailments — without pills or invasive procedures. Mark taught the popular Wizard Academy course, DaVinci and the 40 Answers, on creativity and problem-solving for businesses. Among the insights he shares this week: how to think unconventionally, why simplicity often beats complexity, and how to turn setbacks — including near-catastrophic ones — into momentum. These are down-to-earth insights that every entrepreneur and business owner can put into action. The countdown to greater business success begins the moment you arrive at MondayMorningRadio.com. I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 25th February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Mark 13:34: “…and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch.” The Lord was talking about the man who went away and told each of his workers to do their work. Now I read something interesting from an unknown writer. This is what it says: “He does the most for God's great world who does the best in his own little world.” Maybe you are thinking today, “What do I contribute to God's kingdom? Nobody knows who I am. What is the point of my being alive?” Oh my dear friend, to everyone his own work for the Lord. I want to tell you a little story. My mom's brother was a Chief Engineer in the Merchant Navy during the Second World War. Now, the Merchant Navy had no way of defending itself against the enemy. They had no way of fighting back. What was their job? To bring food to Britain, because Britain was an island, and they had to bring food from America and Canada and all over, and they had no way. Those boats were so old and so rickety that they travelled so slowly that they were sitting ducks for the enemy. Now, my uncle was a Chief Engineer, so he never, ever came to the top when there was an alarm that there were submarines in the water. He had to stay under the water level with all his men and keep the engines going, because if the engines stopped, the boat would sink. No-one saw him. They all saw the Captain. The Captain was on the bridge. He was at the top, he was directing operations. Everyone saw the Captain, but no one saw the Engineer. They were under the water level.I want to tell you that God sees every single thing that you do. Maybe nobody else sees, but you don't want anybody else to see, do you? Because you want to get your reward when you get home to Heaven. So do your little bit. Do not despise small beginnings. Jesus Christ knows exactly what you are doing, and He loves you, and He is so proud of you. Remember, without the engine room that ship is going nowhere. Maybe that is your job. Keep the engine room going - intercessors, prayer warriors, workers in the background, because we love you very much.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.

The Great Rosary Campaign is an ongoing prayer and penance campaign for the conversion and strengthening of both Catholic and non-Catholic leaders. As a "Trekkie" (lover of Star Trek), we will be devoting several Great Rosary Campaigns to praying for the conversion of all remaining Star Trek cast members to the Catholic Faith.THIS FIRST WEEK of the Great Rosary Campaign: Star Trek Edition, we are praying for the conversion of Levar Burton, the beloved actor who played Geordi La Forge, Chief Engineer of the USS Enterprise-D in "Star Trek: The Next Generation," and hosted "Reading Rainbow." Levar was raised Catholic, but later left the Church. Please join us in praying that he may "live long and prosper," and return to the Church. The SUGGESTED PENANCE this week is a 24 hour water fast, adjusted for your state in life.In these dark times, we must fight evil with the most powerful weapons we have. The Rosary is foremost among them. Join the Great Rosary Campaign today at: www.GreatRosaryCampaign.com.Countless Saints and Popes have told us that the Rosary is incredibly powerful for three things in particular:Keeping the FaithMoral renovationConversions of non-CatholicsThe Great Rosary Campaign is also based on several biblical themes and principles.First, PRAY FOR OUR BRETHREN. “Pray for one another…” (Jas. 5:16). “So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of faith" (Gal. 6:10).Second, PRAY FOR OUR ENEMIES. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven" (Matt. 5:43-44).Third, PRAY FOR ALL MEN, PARTICULARLY LEADERS AND THOSE IN AUTHORITY. “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, or kings and all who are in high positions…” (1 Tim. 2:1-2).Fourth, GOING INTO BATTLE WITH THE ARK. When the ancient Israelites came to Jericho, God didn't tell them to besiege the city. Instead, He told them to march around it with the Ark of the Covenant seven times, and on the seventh the walls would fall. We will now "march" in prayer for seven days with the New Ark of the Covenant, Our Lady, through the Rosary. We pray in hope that on the seventh day, a day especially devoted to Our Lady (Saturday), extraordinary graces of conversion will be given to those we are praying for.Fifth, EVANGELISM AND APOLOGETICS = LOVE + ARGUMENTS + PRAYER + PENANCE. Ultimately it is God who reveals Himself to a soul, and empowers them to say "yes" to Him by His grace. He chooses to use us, but He does not have to. We must remember that as we evangelize and defend the Faith, our arguments will be fruitless unless informed by love (charity), and reinforced by prayer and penance.Sixth, RETURNING GOOD FOR EVIL. “Do not return evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but on the contrary bless, for to this you have been called, that you may obtain a blessing" (1 Pet. 3:9).Sign up to take part in the Great Rosary Campaign today: www.GreatRosaryCampaign.com

Discograffiti is the deep-dive podcast for music obsessives. In this episode, we feature the next entry in The Chuck Granata Pet Sounds Interview Series. It's Chuck's chat with legendary Gold Star engineer Larry Levine, the man responsible, side by side with The Wrecking Crew, for building Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound”. His peak accomplishments include “Be My Baby”, “Summertime Blues”, “River Deep, Mountain High”, “You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'”, “He's A Rebel”, "Then He Kissed Me", A Christmas Gift For You From Phil Spector, Pet Sounds, Smile, and so many others. Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss poached Larry in 1967, making him A&M Records' Chief Engineer. Larry passed away just a few years after this interview in 2008, which makes this posthumously released “Chuck Chat” yet another priceless buried treasure.   Here are just a few of the many things that Larry discusses with Discograffiti in this podcast: The early days of Gold Star and working with Phil Spector; The Phil Spector session that became the turning point in his working relationship with the producer; How Larry created the very first echo chamber, and an in-depth overview on how it developed over time; Larry's assessment of Brian Wilson's overall character; How Phil talked about Brian to Larry when Brian wasn't around; And his relationship with Chuck Britz. Thought For Today

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 3rd of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Book of Luke 23:50: “Now behold, there was a man named Joseph, a council member, a good and just man.” We are talking here about Joseph of Arimathea. He was one of Jesus' secret disciples. He was a member of the Sanhedrin yet he had the courage to go to Pontius Pilate and ask for the body of our beloved Saviour, and took the body down from the cross, you can read it yourself, and he wrapped it in linen. He laid it in his own personal tomb that had been hewn out of the rock, and where no-one had laid before, and he left Him there until the day of preparation.I want to say something to you today. There are many good and just men like Joseph of Arimathea in the Kingdom of God. It's just that you never hear about them. They work quietly, but they are the backbone of the church of Jesus Christ. Now, I want to tell you a little story. My mother only had one brother, his name was George. He was a Chief Engineer in the Merchant Navy during the Second World War. They used to take food to Britain because Britain was completely surrounded by the sea, and the ships that they sailed in had no defence system to speak of. They were very slow, but they brought food from America and from all over the world. When the siren went and there was an announcement that there were German U-boats in the sea, and their objective was to sink these ships, the Chief Engineer went down into the engine room, which was below water level. He closed a big steel door, he stood by the door and he told the workers to stoke the boilers, coal-fired ships in those days, and they had to keep on stoking that fire to keep the ship running. If those men had abandoned their positions and run on top, the ship would have come to a standstill and would have been torpedoed to the bottom of the sea. He would stand there, sometimes armed with a revolver, and said, “The first man that is going to leave his post, I will shoot!” He had to do that, and they would continue to keep the ship going. There are many of those engineers in God's army. This ministry has been going for 47 years and I want to tell you, it is the Josephs of Arimathea's that have kept this ministry going, no one else, and we thank God for every single member, men and women, who are continually supporting the work of the Lord, unseen. But God, through Jesus Christ and by the power of the Holy Spirit, sees everything.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

If you've ever tried to improve your team but felt like your strategy was stuck in a slide deck, this conversation is for you. Mark introduces the idea of hoshin kanri, a lesser-known but critical pillar of Toyota's management system, and explains how lean thinking is more than just tools--it's a way of developing people and aligning purpose across an organization. You'll hear why metrics alone won't get you to strategic clarity, how to escape the trap of firefighting, and why engagement, not just direction, is the key to long-term improvement. He also shares how lean thinking can be applied at home, even with your kids! If you're looking for insights on how to align teams, build capability, and lead with greater purpose, this episode is for you! Sound Bites "Don't focus on the tool. The tools have to serve a purpose." “Catchball is not just a handoff of plans. It's a conversation about what matters and how we'll learn together.” “Direction without development is just pressure.” They're not called punishment calls. They're called co-learning calls. “If strategy feels like something being done to people, you've already lost.” “You don't learn PDCA by attending a training. You learn it by doing it, with guidance, reflection, and coaching.” “It's not just about solving the problem. It's about who solves it and how they do it.” “We had to change how we talked about strategy before we could change how we worked on strategy.” Chapters 00:00 Introduction 01:49 Start of Interview 02:01 What early experiences shaped your views on leadership, strategy, or lean? 05:28 How do you explain TPS and hoshin kanri as two pillars of Toyota's system? 10:36 What are common mistakes leaders make when trying to improve the business? 15:23 Where do you coach people to start when they want better alignment? 17:40 What myths or misunderstandings do people have about lean? 18:12 Case study example: Turner Construction 25:45 What lean tools or concepts should project managers explore more deeply? 29:24 Where do you recommend someone begin learning about lean? 34:47 How has lean thinking helped at home—and with raising kids? 36:09 End of Interview 36:36 Andy Comments After the Interview 40:53 Outtakes Learn More You can learn more about Mark Reich and his work at the Lean Enterprise Institute at Lean.org. William Heynes shared how true restoration is “about building the car for what it deserves,” not just tailoring it to the owner's preferences. At his shop, the ultimate goal is authenticity. Sometimes a restoration can involve thousands of hours and years to achieve original perfection. Market Trends and Smart Collecting Rupert Banner demystified current auction markets, noting a shift toward modern collectibles and younger buyers. He stresses the value of detailed provenance and emphasizes: “There is so much more value in just owning something and enjoying it... the car may be a conduit to new opportunities, relationships, and experiences.” Cars as a Reflection of Identity and Community Tamara Warren explored how classic cars are powerful symbols of personal legacy and social connection. "To be a collector is actually to be a steward of a legacy," she noted, highlighting the responsibility and joy of carrying forward the story of each car, brand, and community. The Future: Innovation Meets Heritage Matt DeLorenzo and the panel tackled the balance between preservation and modernization, think EV conversions, restomods, and the ethics of “continuation” models. As Matt put it: “Even if there's the rise of the self-driving car, people look at automobiles as a form of recreation... it's a lifestyle, it's a community that's not going to go anywhere.” Call-to-Action Here's your one assignment for the week: Find a car that has personal meaning to you, whether it's a car you grew up with, saw in a movie, or admired from afar, and dig into its story. Look it up, read about it, maybe even check the market. In Part 13 of The Journey Beyond Death, and the third installment of our eight-part series on Near Death Experiences, we explore extraordinary stories of transformation, survival, and awakening. Dr. Tony Cicoria recounts the life-altering moment he was struck by lightning — a physical and spiritual jolt that opened the floodgates to a stunning musical gift. His account blurs the line between the tangible and the ethereal, inviting us to ponder the unseen forces that guide our lives. We honor the late Dr. Stephen Sinatra, a true pioneer in holistic medicine whose legacy of compassion and innovation continues to inspire. Alongside him, NDE survivor Tommy Rosa shares revelations from his own brush with death, offering profound insights into healing, the unity of all souls, and the divine design behind human existence. Their combined wisdom fuses science and spirituality into a tapestry of hope and possibility. Erica McKenzie's powerful testimony shines a light on the dangers of medication misuse and the enduring strength of the human spirit. Her near-death experience reveals a world beyond pain — a place of divine purpose, healing, and unconditional love. Through Erica's eyes, we are reminded that our true value lies not in how we appear to others, but in the light we carry within. ----------------------------- Featuring in order of appearance 09:24 – NDE Tony Cicoria 19:19 – NDE Tommy Rosa & Dr. Stephen Sinatra 37:44 – NDE Erica McKenzie 1:16:32 – NDE David Bennett ----------------------------- NDE Survivor: Dr. Anthony Cicoria In 1994, Dr. Anthony Cicoria was struck by lightning and nearly lost his life. During this harrowing moment, he had an out-of-body experience, watching from above as his own body lay motionless on the floor. Following his near-death experience, Dr. Cicoria began receiving what he describes as "downloads" — powerful streams of original music compositions for the piano. His life was forever changed, and he emerged with a profound sense of purpose, translating his spiritual encounter into music that touches the soul. ----------------------------- NDE Survivor: Tommy Rosa & Dr. Stephen Sinatra (In Loving Memory) In 1999, Bronx-born plumber Tommy Rosa died after a devastating hit-and-run accident. As he lay by the roadside, he felt a powerful tug pulling him through a tunnel of light. On the other side, Tommy found himself in a heavenly place, where he was shown that Earth was created by God to nourish and heal humanity — and that the separation we feel from each other and from the Divine is an illusion of our own making. He met a Divine Teacher who shared Eight Revelations about the nature of life and the universe. Meanwhile, Dr. Stephen Sinatra — a world-renowned cardiologist and pioneering voice in integrative medicine — was transforming his clinical approach, blending science with spirituality. When fate brought Tommy and Dr. Sinatra together, they realized the powerful synchronicities between Tommy's revelations and Dr. Sinatra's groundbreaking medical discoveries. Their collaboration led to one of the most inspired unions of science and spirit. Dr. Stephen Sinatra has since passed from this world, but his wisdom, compassion, and revolutionary contributions to healing continue to uplift countless lives. His legacy endures through his writings, his patients, and all who seek true, heart-centered healing. Her spirit left her body and hovered near the ceiling, watching paramedics try to save her. She then traveled through a tunnel of radiant light, met God, and experienced two life reviews. During this journey, she was shown that each soul carries unique gifts and divine purposes — lessons she now shares through her transformational work and teachings. A second transformation occurred in 1994 during a deep meditation in Sedona, Arizona. His third awakening came in 2000 when he survived stage IV lung cancer that metastasized into his spine, causing its collapse.
