Apple Vision Pro rumored to leverage cutting-edge 2nm process with new R2 chiphttps://appleinsider.com/articles/25/09/18/apple-vision-pro-rumored-to-leverage-cutting-edge-2nm-process-with-new-r2-chipApple is reportedly preparing a new R2 co-processor for a future Vision Pro model, built on TSMC's 2nm process. This would be a first for Apple's headset line, positioning Vision Pro as a showcase for Apple's most advanced silicon. The R2 chip is expected to deliver significant improvements in latency, thermal efficiency, and overall performance. Why it mattersPerformance leap: The R2's move to 2nm could allow smoother passthrough, faster sensor fusion, and better hand/eye tracking stability.Battery & heat: Improved performance-per-watt means cooler operation and extended battery life—key factors for headset comfort.Ecosystem signal: Apple investing its most advanced chip process in Vision Pro underscores long-term commitment to spatial computing.Key detailsCurrent baseline: Vision Pro pairs an M2 for apps with an R1 for real-time sensor data. The R1 delivers ~12ms photon-to-photon latency.Next-gen rumor: R2 would supersede R1, likely debuting around 2026, with a 2nm fabrication node. What's new for users & developersFor users: Potentially longer wear sessions with less heat and jitter, moving Vision Pro beyond demo use into all-day practicality. For developers: More compute headroom for richer apps, higher fidelity passthrough, and expanded spatial workflows. For the ecosystem: If Vision Pro becomes the platform where Apple debuts its most advanced silicon, refresh cycles may accelerate.Industry contextApple's silicon play: Historically, Apple has reserved new process nodes for iPhone or Mac chips. Shifting that to Vision Pro signals strategic priority.Timeline watch: Analysts expect R2 to arrive in 2026 hardware, though specifics on product naming (Vision Pro 2 vs. refresh) remain unclear. The R2 chip could unlock comfort and practicality for extended wear, making Vision Pro more than a short-session device.ThePodTalkNetwork@gmail.comThePodTalk.NetYouTube.com/@VisionProFiles

¡Nueva temporada!

The discussion covers the iPhone 17 lineup, including the Pro and Pro Max models powered by the A19 Pro chip, upgraded camera systems, and improved thermal cooling. Panelists debate upgrade cycles, storage needs, and even whether “pumpkin spice” (aka orange) should count as a phone color. We also break down the debut of the iPhone Air, Apple's thinnest iPhone yet, with its titanium build, new C1X modem, and unique design choices (including that hump). Is it just a super-thin marvel—or half of a future foldable iPhone? Opinions differ! Next up, the AirPods Pro 3 bring stronger noise cancellation, a heart rate sensor, and game-changing live translation features. The crew weighs whether these are must-have upgrades or evolutionary refinements. Finally, the Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3 take center stage, with blood pressure monitoring, sleep score features, and battery improvements sparking debate about health tracking and who benefits most from the new models. Throughout the episode, the panel reflects on how Apple's hardware has entered an iterative phase—solid and polished, but less revolutionary. Still, with new colors, health sensors, and smarter features, there's plenty to discuss, speculate, and laugh about in this jam-packed post-event recap . Marty covers the Space Black color rumor and internal chip bump for the next Apple Vision Pro as reported by Zac Hall at 9to5Mac, relaying Mark Gurman's Bloomberg preview ahead of Apple's September 9 event. Primary SourceApple Vision Pro could soon have a whole new look — Zac Hall, 9to5Mac (Sept 5, 2025)https://9to5mac.com/2025/09/05/apple-vision-pro-2-space-black/  What the reporting says·       Apple has tested Space Black as a color option for the next Vision Pro.·       Expect a chip upgrade from M2 to a newer generation (M4 or possibly M5) to headline internal changes.·       External design shifts may be modest—think Apple Watch Ultra → Ultra 2—though a single head‑strap has also been rumored for comfort.·       Apple is exploring a cheaper/lighter headset and even smart glasses over the next two years (per Bloomberg's preview referenced by 9to5Mac). Why this matters·       Color as a visible “tell”: a Space Black finish could be the easiest way to spot the new model if most changes are internal.·       Performance bump: newer silicon should improve latency, video encode/decode, and multitasking headroom for spatial apps.·       Comfort cues: if Apple moves to a single strap, setup friction could drop and long-session stability could improve. What to watch for at/after Sept 9·       Any explicit mention of new Vision Pro colorways or retail images that show Space Black hardware.·       Release notes or developer guidance hinting at higher default rendering targets or new media pipelines tied to newer chips.·       Pricing moves: color alone won't move the $3,499 needle; look for hints about a lower-cost model later on. Quick takeaways·       If the look matters to you, waiting for official confirmation could make sense.·       If you prefer value, keep an eye on first‑gen promotions/refurbs once the refresh lands.·       Expect incremental hardware this round; bigger shifts may come with a lighter/cheaper model or eventual smart glasses.Follow the live stream at YouTube.com/@VisionProfiles on Monday nights at 9 PM EST or catch the video later on Youtube or audio on any pod catcher service Email: ThePodTalkNetwork@gmail.comWebsite: ThePodTalk.Net

Marty talks about a positive Wall Street Journal article about the AVP and business use Quick TakeThe Wall Street Journal reports that while the $3,499 Apple Vision Pro hasn't broken through broadly with consumers, it's quietly gaining traction in business—especially where high-fidelity visualization and training matter.Enterprise-first adoption: Unlike iPhone's consumer-led rise, Vision Pro is seeing company-led uptake across specific verticals. Why these niches: Best-in-class visuals, precise hand/eye UI, and adjustable immersion make spatial tasks (design, simulation, review) feel natural.Reality check: High price, comfort considerations, and a still-maturing app ecosystem limit mass consumer pull—so near-term momentum sits in pro workflows.Retail design: Lowe's uses Vision Pro to help customers and staff visualize kitchen designs at life-like scale.Aviation training: CAE employs spatial simulations to improve pilot training and decision practice.Industrial/product development: Dassault Systèmes integrates Vision Pro into engineering/design reviews with digital‑physical overlays.Faster decisions, fewer surprises: Seeing true-to-scale designs in context reduces back-and-forth and boosts stakeholder alignment.Training where stakes are high: Immersive rehearsal for rare or risky scenarios (flight, complex operations) improves readiness without real-world risk.Enterprise is the bridge: Business use may seed the apps and practices that eventually make Vision Pro mainstream.Total cost of ownership: $3,499 headset plus accessories, device management, and training time.Comfort & deployment at scale: Weight/battery tether and fleet management considerations.App depth: More native spatial apps are needed to replace iPad ports in pro workflows. If your work benefits from spatial context (design reviews, simulation, complex planning), Vision Pro is already delivering value. For general consumers, patience: enterprise adoption will likely drive app growth and hardware refinements that broaden appeal.WSJ — “Apple's Vision Pro Gaining Traction in Some Niches of Business”Link: https://www.wsj.com/articles/apples-vision-pro-gaining-traction-in-some-niches-of-business-16d3c74eJoin our live stream Mondays at 9 PM ET (search “Vision ProFiles” on YouTube), or catch the replay and audio on your favorite podcast app.Contact: ThePodTalkNetwork@gmail.com · ThePodTalk.net

Marty talks about the recent list of best Apple Vision Pro apps of 2025  as suggested by PCMagazineThe Best Apple Vision Pro Apps for 2025https://www.pcmag.com/picks/the-best-apple-vision-pro-appsWhat PCMag's list coversA spread across work/productivity, creativity & learning, entertainment, utilities, and games—with emphasis on apps that feel “native” in spatial computing. Work / ProductivityThings 3 (visionOS) — full task manager in floating windows; great with hand/eye input and multiple spaces. Zoom / Microsoft 365 / Box — core “office” stack is available on Vision Pro for meetings and docs (PCMag's earlier work-apps piece highlights these). Creativity & LearningNight Sky — astronomy in 3D space; spatial sky maps are a natural fit. Mindfulness (Apple) — breathing/reflect sessions as an ambient spatial experience; easy daily habit. Entertainment & MediaApple TV, Disney+, Prime Video, Crunchyroll — strongest “big screen” experiences today (some are iPad ports that still work well in an immersive theater). Note: Netflix still no app; use Safari as a fallback. YouTube native app is “on the roadmap.” GamesBlackbox (visionOS) — spatial puzzle design; Apple Design Award winner in Spatial Computing. Synth Riders — rhythm/fitness staple now on Vision Pro; good demo of full-body interaction. What the Golf? — playful physics/perspective gags translate well to big space. How to use the listPrioritize native visionOS apps first—they support depth, passthrough, and richer windowing. Then fill gaps with iPad ports you already love. Mix 2–3 apps per category to learn the UX: one work app (e.g., Things or Microsoft 365), one entertainment app (Apple TV/Disney+), one game (Synth Riders/Blackbox), and one wellness/learning app (Mindfulness/Night Sky). Quick takeawaysStart with one from each category to learn the platform's strengths.Prefer native visionOS versions for wow-factor and ergonomics.Expect a hybrid workflow until missing streaming apps arrive.Follow the live stream at YouTube.com/@VisionProfiles on Monday nights at 9 PM EST or catch the video later on Youtube or audio on any pod catcher serviceEmail: ThePodTalkNetwork@gmail.comWebsite: ThePodTalk.Net

Eric, Dave, and Marty speak about the new VisionOS 26 developer beta, talk about a potential YouTube app, and review Gurman's AVP/Meta comparison. NEWS this week Beta 8 came out today:https://developer.apple.com/documentation/visionos-release-notes/visionos-26-release-notes What's new from beta 7 → beta 8Release/build only: Beta 8 arrived Aug 25, 2025 as 23M5332a (beta 7 was Aug 18 as 23M5328a). Apple doesn't list any additional new features, APIs, or headline-level changes for beta 8 beyond the build bump. Tooling: The latest posted tools are still Xcode 26 beta 6 (17A5305f) from Aug 18; no newer Xcode dropped alongside beta 8. Practical takeFor users: Treat beta 8 as a stability/bug-fix pass—no Apple-documented user-facing additions over beta 7. For developers: Re-run regressions on areas you touched for beta 7 (e.g., CompositorServices hover/immersion behavior, ARKit Accessory Tracking, RealityKit popover/presentation components, RemoteImmersiveSpace stability, StoreKit's new promo-offer APIs). Those were the substantive changes in beta 7 and remain the focus with beta 8. Brian Gibson is a musician, artist, and game designer best known for blurring the lines between sound, movement, and chaos. As the bassist for the legendary noise-rock duo Lightning Bolt, he's released seven studio albums and played countless ferocious, high-velocity live shows. But he's also spent much of his life working on video games, first as an artist for the music-game developer Harmonix, which he joined in 2001, and more recently as the co-designer of Thumper—a rhythm-violence game that marries kinetic speed and hypnotic visuals.Since its release, Thumper has become a cult classic, earning acclaim for its singular aesthetic and for redefining what a rhythm game could be. A follow-up, Thrasher, originally released for Meta Quest and Apple Vision Pro is now out on Steam. We've just submitted our panel proposal for SXSW 2026: “Audible Dimensions: Expanding Story Through Spatial Audio” We'll explore how spatial audio is more than a technical enhancement but a powerful storytelling tool. From shaping emotion and perspective to guiding audience engagement, we'll discuss how designing for immersive media means writing for space as well as time. As platforms like Meta, Apple Vision Pro, and Android XR raise audience expectations, spatial audio is becoming indispensable to immersive storytelling.  Please cast your vote and support our session here. https://participate.sxsw.com/flow/sxsw/sxsw26/community-voting-sxsw/page/community-voting/session/1752616879438001oo8Q In this episode of the Immersive Audio Podcast, Oliver Kadel and Monica Bolles are joined by the spatial sound artist and academic Angela McArthur from London, UK.
