This concept finds Frank having to watch a movie he's never seen before based on the random spin of a wheel filled with off-the-wall genres. In this episode, Frank's category was "Ghosts in Weird Places." The movie he chose to watch, summarize, and review is James Bryan film, Jungle Trap, recently restored by the American Genre Film Archive. The 2 Guys also discuss Matt Reeves's The Batman.

For this AFS Viewfinders podcast, Lars Nilsen speaks with Writer/Producer Zack Carlson (Destroy All Movies, DAMSEL, JUNGLE TRAP), who presents a Walter Hill series at AFS Cinema this November. This podcast covers filmmaker Walter Hill (THE WARRIORS, STREETS OF FIRE), including his directing choices and casting THE WARRIORS ensemble. On top of that, the conversation cracks open the entire action movie genre—from LETHAL WEAPON to PREDATOR—discussing just what makes an action movie work (and not work), including characters, authenticity, stunts, and special effects. Justin, Colin and April discuss the globe-trotting adventure Gymkata (1985) and the baffling safari film Jungle Trap (2016). Ghosts, crazies and lots of kicks to the face! Gymkata: Anti-American Sentiment Clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lswv-Z-qge0
Shot in 1990 and unreleased until this very moment, Jungle Trap is the final collaboration between exploitation demigods James Bryan (DON’T GO IN THE WOODS) and the late Renee Harmon (FROZEN SCREAM). The movie is a decapitation-fueled, shot-on-video horror masterpiece about a jungle hotel haunted by kill-crazy ghosts in loin cloths. The movie remained unedited, unscored, and unseen by human eyes for over two decades, until it saw release back in late July. Under Bryan’s guidance, the Bleeding Skull team meticulously edited the movie and Taken By Savages recorded a soundtrack utilizing vintage 1980s synthesizers.
Join your hosts Rob Galluzzo, Rebekah McKendry and Elric Kane as they welcome to the show very special guests Joseph Ziemba (Creator of Bleeding Skull, American Genre Film Archive) and Bret Berg (American Genre Film Archive) share with us their favorite, obscure genre deep cuts! But first, the latest horrors! Rob reports back on THE DARK TOWER, and Blue Underground's upcoming disc of AMSTERDAMNED. Elric saw the new ANNABELLE: CREATION, as well as Arrow Video's BRAIN DAMAGE release, and TRICK OF TREATS. Bekah checked out BILLY JACK and the Italian cult classic 1990: THE BRONX WARRIORS. Then we welcome Joseph Ziemba and Bret Berg on who tell us about the recent restorations, theatrical engagements and Blu-Ray releases for THE ZODIAC KILLER and EFFECTS. Then they hit us with the weirdest, most bizarre recommendations they could dig up! Crazy Mexican Cinema! PSYCHED BY THE 4D WITCH! The films of Long Islander Nathan Schiff! Jame Bryan, Renee Harmon and JUNGLE TRAP, and much, much more! Kick back, relax and join the conversation! This episode is dedicated to the memory of Dustin Pace.
Up next in my coverage of the 2017 Chattanooga Film Festival is: Jungle Trap, presented by Bleeding Skull The director thought that this movie would never see the light of day. But, thanks to the work of Bleeding Skull, the movie is finally able to be seen and loved! Between feature films, short films, partial films, and live shows, I saw 21 films at the Chattanooga Film Festival. So, be sure to follow me at gargylereviews.blogspot.com and at facebook.com/thegargyle to catch all of my reviews.
