Have you done everything you can do to get your kid ready for college, and they don't want to register for college Disability Services? The statistics are staggering, and today we look at some of the reasons students don't get services in college, and how you as a parent could address those reasons before they becomes a problem. You will look closer at the reasons for that disconnect, and we'll discuss a research project called the National Longitudinal Transition Study, NLTS2 by Dr. Lynn Newman at SRI Research, cited on the National Center for Learning Disabilities website. The NLTS2 studied over 12000 students in K12 with disabilities, 67% which had SLD, and why ONLY 1/4th of that 67% SLD population actually registered for disability services in college. We'll also discuss why so many students believe they no longer have a learning disability when they are ready for college, and how that can lead to bigger problems in college.
