Welcome to today's ICYMI, where we kick off the week with a quick game-changing tip from one of our guests that you might have missed. Your to-do list Is lying to you… not everything is urgent, and productivity isn't about doing more. It's about doing what matters most. As Greg McKeown says: “When you prioritize the important over the urgent, you don't just get more done, you get the right things done.” And that's the difference between a busy life and a meaningful one. We're throwing it back to 3 practical steps to master prioritization using principles from productivity minimalism and Essentialism. We cover the Law of Inverse Prioritization, and effective decision-making questions to filter every task and commitment. Listen to our full episode here. Have you ever made a pro-con list to help make a big decision only to still feel stuck or confused? In this episode of The Driven Introvert Podcast, we're exploring a fresh approach to decision-making inspired by Chapter 9 of Emily P. Freeman's book The Next Right Thing. It's called the Life Energy List, and it just might change the way you approach every hard choice from here on out. Here's the thing, a pro-con list has its place. They help us sort through our thoughts when we're overwhelmed or confused. I've done it many times. I've weighed jobs, opportunities, and big life changes using the classic two-column format. But as Emily points out in the book, not every item on the list holds the same weight. Ten “cons” can easily be outweighed by one deeply important “pro” like peace of mind, health, or the joy of meaningful connection. That's why she offers a new method: instead of asking “What are the pros and cons?” ask:What is life-giving?What is life-draining?This episode gets real and personal. I share stories from my own life where this approach would have made a world of difference and how I now use this tool to navigate everything from relationships to work and creativity.I also get into what it looks like to wrestle with decisions that aren't black and white and go beyond a pro-con list. Like, when something feels draining in the moment (hello, hosting people at my house
In this solo episode of Business Coaching Secrets, Karl Bryan dives deep into actionable strategies for coaches looking to get "unstuck," sign more high-end clients, and build lasting, meaningful rapport with business owners. With Rode Dog away, Karl brings raw, practical guidance on everything from lead generation and goal setting to winning the trust of seven-figure entrepreneurs and using universal truths to transform coaching practice. Key Topics Covered Strategies to Get Unstuck as a Coach Karl outlines a direct three-step process for coaches feeling stuck: get real about what you're not doing, set simple goals with clear steps, and break sabotaging habits. He drills into the importance of direct action, from reaching out to close friends and family for referrals, to building substantial prospect lists, and ramping up daily outreach efforts. Lead Generation and Goal Setting Karl emphasizes that most coaches fail simply because they aren't generating enough leads or having enough conversations with potential clients. He offers tangible frameworks for stacking the odds in your favor—like setting a goal to sign one client within seven days and reaching out consistently, no matter what obstacles arise. Building Rapport That Closes High-End Clients Success in selling coaching hinges on powerful rapport. Karl shares a proven three-step rapport-building method: genuine compliments, relatable conversations, and strategic framing (saying no to non-ideal clients to boost trust). He stresses, "People buy from people they like, and people like people like themselves." Selling to Seven-Figure vs. Smaller Business Owners Karl details the mindset differences between selling to affluent, driven business owners versus those just starting out. He shares the 10-10-80 influence frame, how to educate and impress experienced prospects, and why hunger (not mere motivation) is your #1 client selection metric. Universal Truths That Drive Success The episode wraps up with essential universal truths and time-tested advice—from the 80/20 rule and compounding wealth principles to the reality that "freedom lives in structure" and that laughter and play are keys to sustained energy and youthfulness in business. Notable Quotes "If you want to improve your closing, improve your opening. The opening is all about building rapport." "You can control your effort, not your outcome. Stack the odds in your favor with persistent action." "Lead generation isn't sexy, but it's what you're not doing and what's making you stuck." "People who read earn double what non-readers do. Teach something unique and awesome—affluent people respect that." "Trust is the currency of business. What are you doing every day to build and accelerate it?" "Being fun will open more doors than determination ever will." Actionable Takeaways Generate More Leads: Make a list of 100+ local businesses or prospects and commit to reaching out—via email, phone, or message—every single day, regardless of life's curveballs. Set Simple, Achievable Goals: Break big goals into three actionable steps and ruthlessly eliminate habits that lead to procrastination or hiding. Build Rapport, Not Scripts: Use heartfelt compliments, highlight common ground, and boldly state what you do not do—this authenticity attracts the right clients. Serve Before You Sell: Offer value and insights freely; your best prospects are seeking guidance, not just motivation. Learn and Teach Upmarket Clients: Don't just agree—explain ideas in ways they've "never heard before" to earn respect and premium fees. Leverage Social Proof: In presentations or networking, let happy clients tell their stories to build instant credibility and trust. Embrace Structure and Play: Consistent planning breeds freedom. And don't forget to make room for joy and play—laughter is a fountain of youth (and business energy). Brian and I got into what it really takes to make progress when you're stuck in a job, a business, or a mindset that's not working. We talked about how people overanalyze and under-execute, why momentum matters more than motivation, and the mindset shifts that helped me stop chasing the perfect idea and start stacking wins. I shared the story of how I built my early businesses, how I tested ideas without overcommitting, and how you can take control of your career path by doing common things uncommonly well. Feeling lost in your career? Questioning your life direction? So many of us spend our 20s and 30s chasing the job titles we're told we “should” have, lofty income goals, or status, only to end up feeling disconnected, unfulfilled, and like we've sold our soul along the way. What if the answer to career clarity and job satisfaction isn't ahead of you… it's behind you?Research shows that people whose adult careers align with their early interests experience higher job satisfaction, better income, and greater educational attainment. If you loved writing, building, organizing, performing, asking questions, leading groups, solving problems, or creating things as a kid, those patterns can still guide what feels meaningful and easeful in adulthood. So in today's episode, we explore how your childhood interests and your true nature as a kid can offer clues for what will bring you long-term career fulfillment — and why reconnecting with who you were as a child is an evidence-based career strategy.Tune in to hear about:Why so many adults feel lost or misaligned in their careersThe disconnect between societal expectations and your authentic selfHow your childhood “essence” reveals your natural strengthsPrompts to uncover your core natureThe new research linking childhood interests to adult job satisfactionHow interests are often more stable than personality traitsHolland's RIASEC career theory in the 6 interest categoriesHow to use your younger self as a practical career compassFor advertising and sponsorship inquiries, please contact Frequency Podcast Network. Andrea Jones-Rooy — data scientist, comedian, and fire-eating acrobat — talks candidly about feeling like a failure even when all evidence points to the contrary. With sharp humor and vulnerability, she describes having “no self-esteem” (not low — none), limited willpower, and a reliance on fear and external pressure to get things done.Andrea, who hosts the podcast Behind the Data, gives herself very little grace. She remains skeptical of her ADHD diagnosis. But one ADHD challenge feels impossible to dismiss: time blindness. Together, Andrea and Laura explore what it means to be present — and why that presence often comes more easily at work or on stage, where the stakes feel high, than with the people we love most. For more on this topicRead: ADHD and time blindnessListen: Behind the Data podcastFor a transcript and more resources, visit ADHD Aha! on Understood.org. Guys, You know that moment when you think, "I should just deal with this," and instead you shut down and walk away? And then you spiral into "I can't get anything done" mode? That's what we're solving in today's episode. The number one thing you need to do to get rid of clutter isn't organizing. It's changing the way you think about it. Because thoughts create feelings. Feelings create behavior. And behavior is what keeps clutter in place—or allows it to shift.
Today, Mardi Winder sits down with Michele Garrett, a women's life and transition coach with more than three decades of experience in guiding individuals through personal and professional growth. Their conversation centers on the unique transitions women face, especially during the “third act” of life, when careers shift, children grow up, relationships change, and opportunities arise that can feel both liberating and overwhelming.Michele shares her journey from educator and trainer to coach, emphasizing the difference between directing others and empowering them to discover their best selves. The discussion highlights the struggle many women experience with feeling stuck after years of focusing on everyone else's needs, and the challenge of learning to prioritize themselves without guilt. Michele offers insights into how identifying core values and creating space for self-reflection can help women move past old patterns and limiting beliefs. She outlines how even small changes, like scheduling moments for fun or setting healthy boundaries, can make a significant difference.Mardi and Michele explore the importance of learning to be comfortable alone, reframing the experience from being a punishment to an opportunity for growth. They stress that transitions are not about rigid goals, but about clarity, flexibility, and honoring what's truly important. Listeners are encouraged to consider what “blossoming into your best” means personally, and to take practical steps toward creating a more fulfilling life, one choice at a time.About the Guest:Michele Garrett is a women's life and transition coach, leadership mentor, and learning strategist with over 30 years of experience guiding individuals through personal and professional growth. Join us for Purim 5786! https://curtlandry.com/register Experience breakthrough in prayer: https://curtlandry.com/deliverance Discover your divine design with PurposeQuest: https://mypurposequest.com In this episode of the Curt Landry Podcast, Rabbi Curt discusses the Hebrew month of Adar, which highlights surrendering to God's instruction and divine timing. After our redemption in Shevat, there is a moment of pause in Adar, where we face a choice: will we surrender to God's timing for our next steps, or stay stuck in old habits and patterns? To align with change and the life God desires for you, it is vital to prioritize daily quiet time with the Father and declare who you are in Him. As we remain rooted in our true identity, God will position us for divine appointments to intercede in the lives of others. Like Queen Esther in the story of Purim, we're invited to participate in God's rescue mission as we choose courageous obedience. Join Rabbi and Darrell as they pray a powerful prayer to break off the spirit of death and discouragement, share a personal story of how obedience and God's timing saved a woman's life, and offer insight into how to press forward when you feel stuck and defeated.
If you've been “researching” moving abroad for months (or years) and still haven't made it happen, this episode is for you. Spoiler: you don't have a research problem. You have a decision problem. The over-research rabbit hole is a hiding place, and the first step out of the rabbit hole is clarity. Let's get you to finally move from thinking to doing. In this episode, we unpack:The D.R.E.A.M. modelHow research is your safety blanket. You're not looking for more information, you're looking for certainty and permission. Neither exists. You're asking the wrong questions. “What can I do?” leads to paralysis. “What do I actually want my life to look like?” leads to decisions. The real fear isn't lack of info — it's making the wrong choice. But staying stuck costs more than learning from a few mistakes along the way.Information doesn't create confidence - plans do.Not deciding is still a decision.Ask yourself this: if years of research haven't moved you yet, why would more research help you now? If you're ready to stop thinking about moving abroad and actually do it, I'll see you inside the Escape Plan Bootcamp.Subscribe and ReviewIf you loved this episode, please take a moment to subscribe and leave a review on Apple Podcasts! Send us a textIn this week's episode of the Fragmented to Whole Podcast, I'm unpacking a topic that sits at the core of emotional healing and change: discomfort. Not all discomfort is the same, and confusing them is one of the main reasons people stay stuck far longer than they need to. One form of discomfort is the kind that keeps us trapped, the other is the kind that helps us grow. This episode is about learning how to tell the difference between chronic, soul-draining discomfort and the finite discomfort that leads to real healing, and how internal safety and support make all the difference. Some of the talking points I go over in this episode include:The difference between the endless discomfort of staying stuck and the temporary discomfort that comes with growth and changeWhy experiential avoidance numbs not only pain, but also joy, meaning, and alivenessHow manageable discomfort creates learning, flow, and forward movement instead of shutdownWhy a “safe base,” internally and externally, is essential for sustainable growthHow boundaries, emotional regulation, and support systems create the safety needed to tolerate changeDiscomfort isn't the enemy. But unsupported, overwhelming discomfort keeps us frozen. When you choose the finite discomfort of growth and pair it with enough safety, healing becomes possible and sustainable.Be sure to tune in to all the episodes for grounded insights, emotional tools, and practical guidance on living a more whole and connected life.Thank you for listening. When you're feeling stuck, stressed, or overwhelmed, the right question can shift everything. In today's episode, I share a list of my favorite productive questions that help me get unstuck, tap into curiosity, and break free from confusion. These questions are the antidote to overthinking, indecision, and self-doubt. Our habitual thought patterns often keep us in a loop of stress and overwhelm, especially when we're not clear on what we really want or need. By asking the right questions, we can break out of that cycle and start finding clarity. The powerful questions I'm sharing today help me connect to my deeper needs, quiet my inner critic, and tap into my intuition when I'm feeling lost. Brandon Hogstad — a scientist, musician, big thinker, and co-host of a dream interpretation podcast — talks about how ADHD showed up in his adult academic life. As challenges emerged, finishing projects became a persistent struggle. A high school valedictorian, Brandon entered college with confidence and a strong academic track record. College didn't derail him. But it brought him down to earth. For the first time, he realized he'd never really learned how to study — and that raw intelligence only goes so far. The experience reshaped his ego and deepened his understanding of his ADHD brain. Brandon reflects on working with, not against, his ADHD. Routines aren't about perfection. They're about keeping the peace and developing a sense of stability. In this episode, Dr. J explains why traditional routines can feel impossible for ADHD brains — and what actually works. Think tiny, doable habits. Attaching new routines to things you already do. A lot of personal growth work is about recognizing and focusing on taking responsibility and changing what we can change in our lives. But sometimes you're stuck. Stuck and bewildered by how this shit keeps happening. Those same old cyclical situations… a heated argument with a romantic partner, a recurring issue at work, a really challenging family dynamic… where we feel like we have no control. All those tools and practices go out the window and it feels like the situation is just happening at us.These challenges are the perfect place to start practicing shadow work—the process of becoming aware of what you've suppressed, hated, and denied about yourself. Sound a little scary? Don't worry, shadow work does not mean embracing and enacting all the mean parts of yourself. In other words, doing this work doesn't mean becoming an asshole. There are many ways to do shadow work, but today we're focusing on a method created by Carolyn Lovewell called Existential Kink. Existential Kink involves loving, accepting, and owning the ‘guilty pleasure' we get from the shadowy aspects of our subconscious, and we're walking you through the whole process. In this episode, we're breaking down:— What the shadow is— What it means to do shadow work— How Jungian and depth psychology define and approach the shadow— Examples of how and why people repress and deny aspects of themselves— Why unexamined shadow aspects of ourselves often lead to projections— How embracing and recollecting repressed aspects of ourselves can be powerfully transformative for your personal growth and relationships— Why shadow work does not mean embracing and enacting evil/mean aspects of ourselves (AKA becoming an asshole)— The theory behind and process of Existential Kink— The importance of community and support while doing depth psychological workResources mentioned in this episode:— My Individuation Alchemy program— Carolyn Lovewell's book, work, and programs— Lindsay Braman's Emotion Sensation Feelings WheelJOIN The Year Of Opening® community for a full year of learning & support. U.S. kids are more depressed, stressed, and anxious than ever. ADHD and autism diagnosis rates are steadily rising. What's going on? In this episode of Hyperfocus, journalist Jia Lynn Yang joins Rae to examine how major school policy shifts in the U.S. have changed what's expected of kids, often with unintended — and serious — consequences. Decision making doesn't get easier as life gets fuller and for many women, the constant stream of choices can feel exhausting. In this episode we unpack what decision fatigue really looks like, how it shows up in work and family life, and why trusting yourself is often the most important part of the process.Abby kicks things off by breaking down what actually makes a “good” decision, drawing from her coaching background and education at UW–Madison. She reminds us that we're always making the best decision we can with the information we have at the time, and explains how the nervous system and personal values play a bigger role in decision making than we often realize.Amy shares behind-the-scenes insight into a recent work decision and reflects on how she gives herself more grace than most women do when it comes to the decision making process. Together, Abby and Amy walk through real-life examples; from building a home, to managing family logistics, and highlight how two people can arrive at the same decision through very different paths. They also explore confidence, indecision, and when it's helpful (or not) to bring other people's opinions into the mix. The episode wraps with a few simple, practical ways they've each reduced daily decision fatigue - small shifts that have made a big difference. If you've ever felt stuck, second-guessed yourself, or wished decisions felt a little lighter, this episode is your reminder that you already have what you need. Start Your Transformation Now In the past, I have often said, “Being stuck” in life, no such thing. Cars can get stuck, things can get stuck but people cannot get stuck. Why, because they have the ability to change things and do different things. So, in this episode I talk about – “Something” leads to something and what does that mean? It's so simple that most of us miss the power of this simple phrase. Oftentimes in life, we are stuck or directionless when in fact the answers are in front of us all the time, yet we are too busy being stuck to see the obvious answer. I myself, years back, have found myself “stuck.” In particular, I remember 2014 when I was burned out, tired, and in limbo as to what I wanted to do with the rest of my professional life. I remember one day when I was pacing the den the answer came to me. The answer of how to get “unstuck” and to change my life came to me in a flash and had this answer not hit me I seriously doubt I'd even be doing this podcast today. This epiphany I came to, it's available to everyone and it's pretty much free, we just have to act upon it and when we do, I promise, something will lead to something. And, when new things come into our awareness then so do possible new opportunities. Be sure to listen to this episode, after all, before you listen to it you have no idea what it's going to lead to, right? Well, after you listen you'll perhaps have a new way to “get yourself” unstuck in life. As I said before, we're never stuck. It's just often that we have run out of creativity and action. And, when we add creativity and couple that with action, magic can happen. Listen, apply, and enjoy! Transformational Takeaway You're Never Stuck In Life. Something Leads To Something.
